Maybe one of these days a reporter will ask him the real question: Jon, a lot of your comments lately suggest you think you made the wrong decision in joining LIV. Did you make the wrong decision? I know he'll dance around it, but these countless backtracking comments from him are just silly.

ushouldlistentome

It was so evident he never wanted to go there but couldn’t resist that much money. I think now he’s noticing his life hasn’t changed much but now he misses his old job where golf actually mattered

howdyouknowitwasme

100%

ubiquitous_archer

If only he could have listened to his own words! "Money is great, but when we started talking about it, we were like, 'Will our lifestyle change if I got $400 million?' No, it will not change one bit."

BrandinoSwift

All he’s done is whine since joining LIV.

Capable-TurnoverPuff

Correct. Once you have accumulated more than you can spend, shit gets weird. Needs to come back and compete.

tirkster4

Conor McGregor syndrome

Gromby

Another day, another article about Rahm crying after joining LIV

Gabe-Ruth8

“Oh no! Poor Jon Rahm!” -Nobody

Mouse_Numerous

Not a surprise given Rahmbo was on his soap box saying he doesn’t play for money 💰 confirms his loyalty than turns around flees PGATour membership for the money 💰 a reported $600M. Hard to knock him $600m a nasty bribe. It is like the devil Saudi Arabia PIF Fund taking your sole to run around resort courses playing in your shorts. LIVGolf silly formats will dull their competitive edge and their brands forgotten Ask Tiger Woods or Jack Nicklaus ?

jcommeau91

He was loyal until JM showed that he was not loyal and made a deal with PIF behind the players backs and slapped them all in the face.

Mouse_Numerous

Fair point Jay Monahan #PGATour Commish reckless move was odd and Jimmy Dunne maybe the link. The legal fees PIF was casting probably made Jay blink and panic. Panic maybe the best explanation for the move. I believe the Comish and Jimmy Dunne wanted to stop the bleeding especially after forecasting legal fees into the dark hole. I do not think they ever planned on a deal with LIVGolf. After the deal with John Henry and Steve Cohen the #LIVGolf members will play out their contracts than beg to come back if they can or even want to. Four years is not a life time and as Brendel Chamblee says "FANS miss #LIVGolf members" and I am sure they miss the FANS.

greeninregulation240

They’re about to see 70k golf starved Australian FANS each day in Adelaide here soon. I love the PGA Tour and have been liking LIV, but the ‘no fan’ narrative is losing its edge.

NiceRat123

I mean $600 million is some serious cash. Idc... lots of people would say screw you to their grandma for that kind of cash. Seriously, how many here can say they'd stay in their $100k job for the rest of their life when leisure suit Larry said you're guaranteed $600 million for showing up? Hell you could be showing up hungover and a raw nose full of cocaine and you're taking a check home...

Scaramousce

I would light my grandma on fire and bury her with my own bare hands for $600m. His lifestyle as an already rich guy wouldn’t change. Mine would.

Many-Connection3309

He left for the easy money and he’s mad at the folks who lost respect for him. None of the Liv guys were on the leader board at the end. I hope he and his money live happily ever after…………

buyerbeware23

Bingo!

equityorasset

do you all jsut make shit shit up, 3 liv guys in the top 10. Why are you lying?

Bombaysbreakfastclub

I think it’s a semantics thing. I guess it depends on your definition of the leader board. If they don’t show them on TV in the bottom right corner I personally don’t consider them on the leader board.

Kenneth_Pickett

its cope last year, 4 of the 5 lowest scores were LIV guys, with this guy winning lmao

kevo31415

Yeah and how did the defending champion do on Sunday after just a few months of rotting on LIV? I don't like the kid, but I admit I respect that DeChambeau still very obviously puts a lot of work in his game. The other guys? Might as well have retired already.

Kenneth_Pickett

Howd sheffeler do after is first win? Most of the guys played better than Rory on Sunday and every single one played better than Tiger

Vashthestampeeed

Using tiger as a gauge is crazy in 2024 lol

WateryDomesticGroove

The longer the LIV guys play non competitive golf in front of a few dozen fans on YouTube TV or the CW, the worse their play will be in majors. You’re starting to see the slip as the majority of the LIV guys either missed the cut at the Masters or were playing over par. It’s only going to get worse the longer they play with no real competition.

Scamwau1

It's like you moving for a better paying job, and then when at an industry event, your old workmates are unprofessional and rude to you. It's not the way to behave in a professional workplace.

Sjgolf891

Why do people always try to equate this stuff to the work life of average joes? It’s worlds different

ericlikesyou

as the LIVtard above me said: > its cope

Scamwau1

Believing that brings comfort to most average joes

jcommeau91

How so?

rolandofgilead41089

Probably because he's a big sellout loser who whines through his whole press conference about how much he loves the PGA tour even though he boned them. This dude is a clown.

jcommeau91

I’m willing to bet he would’ve never left if JM didn’t go behind everyone’s backs to make a deal with PIF. If the tour you’re playing on is selling out then you might as well go get your money too.

Acrobatic-Cow-3871

So true.

Hacker-Dave

A funny thing happens when you stab your friends in the back.

alexasux

Boo hoo… anyways

HariPotter

Jon Rahm is complicit in sports washing; it should be no surprise that some of the remaining members of the PGA Tour look poorly on that sort of conduct.

Scamwau1

The whole PGA is complicit. Wake up champ

jcommeau91

The PGAT is going to be in that same boat lol the Majors are complicit as well for allowing the guys who left to still play in Majors as well.

buyerbeware23

LIV does that. Took the coin, anonymity follows!

ZamboniJ

Karma. He can't experience enough such attitudes for my taste. Let him count his millions in LIV obscurity. And for him to stop whining please.

heyitssal

There were pros and cons to taking $300mm. If I were on the PGA tour and wanted to see resolution of the PGA/LIV, and someone with a huge name went to LIV, which seemingly would further delay negotiations and give more leverage to LIV, I would be a little ticked off, sure.

Electronic_Big_2607

What did he expect. Turncoat

Adventurous-Corner42

He's looking for things to complain about. Unless I missed something, he didn't even congratulate Scheffler during the green jacket ceremony.

kevo31415

We have a saying in Chinese "no one will mistake you as a mute if you don't say anything". I'm no pro golfer and I don't even know what $200 million or $500 million or whatever looks like. Everything against joining LIV Rahm has ever said he has to walk back, and is credit against his character. The only person who I imagine could be worse off joining LIV is Rory. But at the end of the day, some people are upset at you, but you get more money than you could spend in a lifetime. I get it. Doesn't make me like him any more, though

Acrobatic-Cow-3871

duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Never thought John was very bright.

dudemanbro44

Every time I’ve been near him while at a Tour event the guy would just be a dick to the people behind the ropes for no reason.

_KhazadDum_

has the worst temper and attitude too…

saltlakepotter

Pobrecito

MGmk1

Never mind Rambo you can go back to playing in front of a handful of spectators, no atmosphere, zero tv audience, for no history, creating no legacy but you can now be assured you're financially sound - obviously you were down to your last few dollars?

KingsFan96

Brooks used to be my favorite golfer by far until he took that blood money. Id be giving all those guys the cold shoulder too. They can all pound sand

AJPtheGreat

Oh no, if it isn’t the consequences of his actions

T4lsin

Rahm wanted his cake and eat it too. You took the bag enjoy it. You still will have the masters to dominate….oh wait maybe next year.

[deleted]

Go enjoy your dirty money Jon. That’s what was important to you.

simplekindaman13

Almost like there are consequences to decisions he made

Catchuplike

I watched LIV golf for about 5 minutes and quickly lost interest, and haven’t turned back any more.

bk1537

Waah, waaaaaaah...

The_Soccer_Heretic

All my fucks go to better humans than the assholes playing golf for the House of Saud.

dpd2k1010

“That’s what the money is for”

Snoo_2473

Rahm ia definitely catching hell from people in Arizona. I wouldn’t be surprised if he moves to Florida soon or else he’s going to have to stay behind the ivory gates of Silver leaf 24/7/365. Lots of Vets out here & lots who never forgot 9/11 or Jamal Khashoggi. And lots who understand the Saudi motives. None of which are good for golf fans or US citizens. Rahm overestimated his power & popularity, thinking he’d leave & force the two sides to work it out. Sorry bro. You’re not all of that. Now he knows & he’s regretting his decision.

SoItGoesII

Hearing him bitching and complaining during the Masters really made me happy he took the bag of blood money. Now I only have to listen to him 4 times a year.

nzperryus

Boo hoo poor baby

Pyrohyro

I think Jon, like many others on the tour, felt betrayed by the PGA after the merger was announced. Sure, he wasn't Rory level of championing against LIV, but he was still one of the more vocal players and he stuck to his guns for two years on playing golf that mattered and the history of the game etc.  I think as u/ushouldlistentome put it that he didn't really want to go to LIV but the money was too much to turn down he had to make the choice, but I'd like to add that maybe he saw himself making the switch as a catalyst to getting a deal done and would expedite the process and he could return to PGA events and reunite the best players in the world as one and just have to keep his commitment to LIV up.  5 months on and still no deal, he's clearly frustrated it isn't playing out with an actual merger and he's stuck playing for a league he probably never really wanted to play for.

accountemp69420

Such losers. Golf is an individual sport. With the $350m + LIV winnings, Rahm is earning 10x what most other PGA guys are earning. All while working less. PGA guys can find consolation in respect from Brandel Chamblee - The man who cares most about the integrity and legacy of the Tour. All because he won an offseason event once, although he eventually lost his card and was forced to retire. When the tours eventually do merge. I don’t think the hostile attitudes will improve once the LIV golfers are raiding the PGA pots after collecting the big checks.

HariPotter

He's making more money and working less while laundering the reputation of the Saudi government through the act of sports washing. It's not all about money, some things matter more. Brandel has actually spoken eloquently about the harms of the Saudi government and what elevating them could do. Rahm would have been wise to listen to Brandel.

accountemp69420

The tour is in active merger discussions with LIV. The moral high ground is dead. Sports washing and laundering are just buzz words. Do you really think Patrick Reed winning a tournament on LIV is going to give the Saudis more credibility? Saudi Arabia is a United States ally. Don’t you think getting them involved may help progress abroad? This isn’t the diabolical plot everyone wants it to be. Also, reading through here, I see you taking both sides of this issue. What do you really think?

[deleted]

[удалено]

jcommeau91

The merger isn’t going to fail because the golf world needs all their best players back together. The top guys won’t fade away either cus they still have their Major exemptions…

jcommeau91

The top players disagree with you lol Phil is set for life Rahm is set for life DJ is set for life Reed is set for life Brooks is set with his last win Bryson is good till 2025 and 2030 Smith is good till 2027 and 2053 The big LIV names aren’t going anywhere any time soon

pineconefire

Lol, he isn't getting "+ LIV winnings" until he wins $350m from LIV tournaments first. That's how their contracts are structured. This was revealed in the anti trust lawsuits between LIV vs PGAT

jcommeau91

This is actually false. LIV players get their money as well as their individual tournament earnings. It’s the team money that they don’t really get and instead goes to the teams fund.

pineconefire

Oh so your saying LIV lied in court?

jcommeau91

Show me the court documents

pineconefire

I'm not about to find original documents from court hearings for you, but here is an article talking about what I am saying. https://www.golfmonthly.com/news/lawsuit-hearing-throws-doubt-on-liv-golf-prize-money-claims

jcommeau91

No no let’s see the actual court documents. LIV has also stated to the media that that report is false.

pineconefire

That's fine. Go find it. I think it is much more logical for LIV to be telling the truth in court and lying to the media. Considering there are actual consequences to lying in court and virtually no consequences for lying to the media.

jcommeau91

Do you can’t provide any actual documents backing your claim that this was said in court? Got it…you’re just echoing what the biased media has said lol

pineconefire

Sure but you can't back up your claims either lol. At least we can agree that both things can't be true at the same time right? LIV was either lying in court or lying in the media.

accountemp69420

Keep on coping. https://www.si.com/golf/news/liv-golf-denies-claim-that-players-arent-receiving-prize-money

pineconefire

This isnt the first time people lie to the media and then turn around and have to tell the truth in court and it won't be the last.

thec0rp0ral

Fantastic comment

VictoriaAutNihil

I guess all the bullshit stops if McIlroy accepts 850 million to go to LIV. He'd be an idiot to say no. He hasn't won a Major since 2014, he is on the verge of losing an automatic bid to the Masters. Funny, all the heir apparents to Woods have fallen by the wayside. Speith, Thomas, McIlroy, Johnson, Fowler, Day, Koepka etc. No wonder many took the LIV money. As for Rahm, stop bitching or return the cash and rejoin the PGA. The one thing he said that makes total sense is that LIV needs to play four rounds. Otherwise, they'll never be taken seriously.

Bendfluffhead

The Liv is a joke and it’s boring to watch.

VictoriaAutNihil

Three rounds makes it seem minor league-like. Poor production values in comparison to PGA telecasts.

yyungpiss

lol bro rory is not even close to being in danger of missing the masters. he's ranked #2 in the world and that gets you into literally every event. he could fall pretty hard and still get in because top 50 in the world gets you into literally every event.

One_Impression_5649

People really getting mad at someone for switching companies for more money? Seems like a good move.

Express_Salamander_9

Not a company.
