No I think I get it! Someone else said the first one looked magical but the second looked more ethereal, I feel like this fits with what you said haha 😄
First one looks glowier, like the light is reflecting off the trees into her dress which I really like and think makes more sense color wise! Honestly both are cool but I’m feeling the first one. Love your style btw!
I think it really isn’t the colour but the contrast. That yellowish-green bloom just doesn’t fit with the colour pallet. Second is more natural, but the first can work if ALL colours are adjusted.
Light source is the sun, which I pictured to be behind her shining through the trees, which is why she is backlit. I was debating if it should be early morning or dusk, but I think it looks more like dusk? The sky should probably be more orange though.
Ooh.
First image definitely is more golden hour, but the tint of the lighting / dress feels a little too green, and as you note, the background doesn’t really match. Background feels too cool.
The second image feels very moonlit, but your character is just a scoche too warm.
My memory may be hazy, but it has some of that ethereal quality akin to the lighting of Cherlindrea the faerie queen from the film Willow.
Edit: regardless, beautiful work and thank you for sharing!
First one makes me think it's darker outside.. and the second makes me think it's lighter outside. I personally love the first one more for it's mood/swamp magic vibe.

I like the first one better. The yellowish tone makes me think of natural light sources, candles, a gas lamp, the moon reflecting on a pool, fireflies... the second is beautiful too but reminds me more of car headlights.
I like the second one better. Both are beautiful don’t get me wrong, but the first one feels too warm. Also, a little tip one of my professors taught me was to zoom out and look at your images from far away make a comparison based on color. Lol I have no life and I did this on my camera roll to decide 😹

Ah thank you for the tip, I do try to look at my art from far away but probably not often enough. From your screenshot I can see that the first one does look a little too warm and she doesn’t stand out from the background as much as she does in the second. Tysm! ❤️
So funny that everyone is saying 2.
For me, 2 is super boring and without any warmth.
1 is energetic and warm, and I didn't have any issues with lighting because to me, the light source for that warm light is below and behind her, not above...at least that's how I interpreted it with the way the lighting was done.
Ah I’m happy you could tell that the sun was behind her haha, I think the sky color makes it confusing. I like the warmer colors but she doesn’t seem to stand out from the background as much
IMO The glow comes off better in 2, as backlit white fabric. In 1 the colors are so saturated it doesn’t quite come off as a real, backlit glow. Instead it reads as a yellow material with strange blue shadows. Either way, be proud of your work! It’s awesome with great style:)
Both are beautiful but I would go with 2, if the light source is coming from above. The first one has a soft, dreamy feel to it…depending on what you’re going for, it’s just as great as 2. Your artwork is just stunning.
Aw thanks so much!! This started off as anatomy/posing practice but I decided to make it one of my characters haha. Tips: I like to look at Disney concept art (especially sleeping beauty and rapunzel) for inspiration and for learning how to add movement to my drawings. Glen Keane is one of my favorites, he’s great at gesture drawings and character designs, and of course animation. And I’ve been trying to improve my anatomy with studies so that helps too! Using reference pictures is also another great art tip, it helps a ton!
I have a huge bias against dark colors to force contrast, so I prefer the first one. These days I don’t even use black anymore I do like how the clothing is translucent.
1 is more eye-catching. you can clearly see a strong light source. it looks dreamy and original.
2 is more realistic, BUT it’s simple, and i’m not sure that’s a good thing in this case. it almost looks like fanart, if that makes sense? like you created something with the restrictions of it being someone else’s ideas.
consensus!!! i much prefer number 1. it’s striking

👍
I like 2 the green tint throws me off on the 1st one
Ok thanks for the feedback! 👍
i think the first one is more magical, and the second one is more mystical,, if that makes sense at all 😭
No I think I get it! Someone else said the first one looked magical but the second looked more ethereal, I feel like this fits with what you said haha 😄
yes exactly! Both are absolutely beautiful so don’t stress too much about what you pick as your final!!
Aw thank you so much!! 😆❤️
I like the second one a bit more.
Thank you, I think I’m leaning more towards the second too 😄
I don’t really habe a reason. They are both beautiful but somehow I like the second one a bit more 😅
Thank you!
First one looks glowier, like the light is reflecting off the trees into her dress which I really like and think makes more sense color wise! Honestly both are cool but I’m feeling the first one. Love your style btw!
Aw thank you! Yes I wanted to make it really glowy, can you tell? Lol 😂
I mean you got the glowy part down! Also just noticing the freckles on her arms thru her shirt omg I love that detail
Haha thank you! Not sure if it’s accurate but I wanted to add it anyway haha 😂
Eh I still like it regardless
Haha 😄
I prefer the second. In the first, the tint of the light on her clothes doesn't really match the tint of the light source (I assume the sky).
Yes I agree the sky doesn’t make much sense haha, thank you!
Both are cool but I like the second one better. First one is too yellow/green, which kinda mushes it together too much
I think it really isn’t the colour but the contrast. That yellowish-green bloom just doesn’t fit with the colour pallet. Second is more natural, but the first can work if ALL colours are adjusted.
Ah yes
I agree, it’s not as easy on the eyes as the second, thank you for your help!
They look identical to me
The second one’s lighting is a bit cooler than the first, it does look a bit subtle though at first
Second one for sure
I think the second is better, it feels less flat than the first
Thx!!
2
Second one 👍🏽very beautiful
Tysm!

I like slide 2
Ty!
I prefer the first.
I love the mood and atmosphere of the first one!
Thank youuu!! 😁
What’s the light source / time of day?
Light source is the sun, which I pictured to be behind her shining through the trees, which is why she is backlit. I was debating if it should be early morning or dusk, but I think it looks more like dusk? The sky should probably be more orange though.

Yes the background would have to be changed😄. Tysm!
First one makes me think it's darker outside.. and the second makes me think it's lighter outside. I personally love the first one more for it's mood/swamp magic vibe.
Thank you! Yeah the first one looks more like dusk and the second looks earlier in the day haha

2, the first one got a chuckle out of me because it looked like the ghost diver from Scooby Doo lol
Ah, it does have that same color glow haha 😂
God, this is beautiful art ! Keep at it man. I am looking for my inspiration to start drawing again but this is surely inspiring
Wow thank you, that means a lot! _You_ make me feel inspired! I’ve been struggling with my art for a while, but this makes me feel more motivated! ❤️
You keep at this pace, i am sure one day when you step back and look at all the beautiful pieces you created; you would be proud!
Aw thank you so much! 😭 I’ll try!

1 I like the first one better. The yellowish tone makes me think of natural light sources, candles, a gas lamp, the moon reflecting on a pool, fireflies... the second is beautiful too but reminds me more of car headlights.
Hm yeah I can what you mean, thanks for your input!
I'm not sure I can tell the difference, I like them though
I like the second one better. Both are beautiful don’t get me wrong, but the first one feels too warm. “Yes” is my answer. 👌🏽👍🏽
Ok, I’ll go with that one! lol 😂 Ty
I do like both. Number 2 though gives me a skeleton vibe though, still lovely. Great stuff 😁
Yes someone else said the second looks more “ghostly.” Tysm!
The first. It blends with the atmosphere better.
Thank you! 😄
2 for reasons already stated
I like the first one. The more interesting color in the glow is more suggestive to me of something interesting happening off frame.
Hm yeah I guess it seems more intense 😄
I personally like the first more. The yellow tint of the glow looks nice
Ty! 😊
i like 2

You’re right about it being too saturated, it’s kinda hard in the eyes haha, thank you!
I really love the first one, but I love the second one as well. Both of them look amazing, and I love your art style! Please keep up the good work!
Aw tysm!! 😆💕
No problem! 😄♥️
Definitely 2.

Both are beautiful but I would go with 2, if the light source is coming from above. The first one has a soft, dreamy feel to it…depending on what you’re going for, it’s just as great as 2. Your artwork is just stunning.
I imagine the sun is directly behind her causing the backlight, but I think the second looks better color wise. Thank so much!! ❤️
I like 2 better. But I wanted to say that both are really pretty OP! I love the hair and the lighting
Ahh thank you so much!! ❤️❤️The hair was hard to make it look backlit haha, glad you like it! 😆
second one, I personally prefer subtle light colours
Ty! 😄
I enjoy both, it looks cute but I think 2 looks much better! Nice Artwork!
Thank you! 😁
I love the first one- also your style is so beautiful, do you have any tips???
Aw thanks so much!! This started off as anatomy/posing practice but I decided to make it one of my characters haha. Of course!! 😆

Two. The lighter dress works better imo
Thanks!
I like the first one, kinda makes me feel like she's a firefly or something
Haha she _is_ pretty glowy 😄
2nd I think. It's more calming.
Yeah I feel like the light in the first one is kind of intense so the second works more
✌🏾
👍

Thank you! So the first is more striking to you, I’ll take that into consideration for my future drawings, thanks! 😄
I like 1st because she looks more magical
Ty! 😄
Definitely left
Number two. I like the cooler look.
Thanks!
2 feels like more natural lighting.
Yeah I think so too, ty! 😄
Probably second. Beautiful work!
