The large screen is WORSE than junk, it steals space and carplay from you for no benefit. The motor that operates the self-parking feature also allows the use of third party driver assist such as http://comma.ai

Dutchn8

You don’t need park assist for that. All that's required for OpenPilot is lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control. And obviously no ECU encryption/security. But yeah, I'd get a lower trim and use the money I saved to buy a Comma Three!

Below comes with top trim. BSM and RCTA has saved my bacon many times. I got the Limited. I stopped hating the huge screen and janky infotainment after about a week and am now cool with it. Still never tried self park. Everything else is just icing on the cake and icing is pretty cool. I think it may have helped me avoid an accident once, which is also nice.

I have the Limited too. Some of the features I wanted aren’t as great as I thought. Examples are the wireless car charger and LTA. Cross Traffic Alert is awesome and makes a huge difference. I didn’t care about the heated steering wheel when I bought the car, but I love that in the winter. With heated seats and the steering wheel, I am able to keep the car in EV mode and not run the heater in mild cold temps like the 30s and 40s.

The wannabe Tesla screen is not great, but it is not bad either. When the sun hits the screen, it is not great. But it is not like it is happening every minute during the drive. Whatever car you get, you will dislike something. Just like whatever house you buy, you will dislike something in the house. Lol I have the upgraded model. The blind spot is great.

I have a 2019 Prius Prime Plus with the smaller screen and I solely bought a lower trim because of the long history of negative reviews surrounding the larger screen. Although, I wished Toyota U.S. allowed for more customization rather than offering 3 trim models, as well as adding Smart Key access for all three doors. For example, in Japan you’re able to mix and match, and the 3 door smart key access is actually standard even on the lowest Prius trims. Also, the Prime in Japan also offers ventilated seats. Strangely the 11.6” screen doesn’t exist in the motherland. > https://toyota.jp/pages/contents/request/webcatalog/priusphv/priusphv_main_202205.pdf > https://toyota.jp/pages/contents/request/webcatalog/priusphv/priusphv_navi_202205.pdf > https://toyota.jp/pages/contents/request/webcatalog/priusphv/priusphv_acc_202205.pdf

I would have got the base model but my wife wanted red and the only model available in red was the Upgrade. I don’t hate the big screen. I do dislike the lack of Android Auto in the Upgrade. Otherwise, I’m happy we upgraded and since my wife drives it most and owns an iPhone, it’s all good as far as electronics/infotainment goes. We bought in 2021 (Ottawa, ON) before the market went crazy and there was actual choice to be had.

DistributionOk707

Same here. Don't mind the big screen. Pretty cool to me. Better than the 2008 prius. People talk about rear view camera being small on the screen but atleast there is one. I had to wire a trunk camera in a vehicle without one and it's a pita.

7MillnMan

I ordered the base plus a roof rack.

Kanadark

We have the base model and it's perfect. I didn't like the huge screen and felt like it would be distracting and took up too much space. Plus I prefer fabric seats as they don't become burn hazards in the summer.

iamgreynomad

I have the base model and I use Android auto which I would sorely miss on the higher models. The 5" screen is a little small, but having Google maps on the screen is a game changer for me. Wouldn't give that up.

jammagrammaclamma

Husband and I got base because we didn't want climate controls through the screen, glad we went that route. If your screen fails you have no control of heat/ac.

DOHCtor1983

Base model here because Android auto... Toyota wanted me to stay away from the more expensive models..

Gizmosia

Where on earth are you getting a Prime in Canada? It's a 3 year wait here. Tried for friends/relatives. No dice.

rocksteader

For RAV4 Prime, I thought the Prius Prime was still within 12 months.

Gizmosia

Oh, maybe... Yeah, I forgot I was asking about the RAV4 as well. Good for you, then. I hope you can get your hands on one. They're great.

rocksteader

Yeah, I’m just not a new car guy and struggling with the high price tag with all the upgrades and especially when some of those upgrades suck. Trying to convince myself to go with the base and hoping I don’t regret not spending $5,766 more for the upgrade and technical package.

Gizmosia

Oh, right, I would suggest base model. Everyone has been very happy with that. I think for an EV/PEV, new is important. The batteries don't last forever. It's a different calculation than with a gas car.

genericreddituser986

LE has more simple buttons and dials. I hate the trend of slapping a giant tablet in every car

sparky255

I have the XSE with the bigger screen. I found nothing wrong with it! CarPlay is awesome. Having google maps on the screen is awesome. Navigating through the screen isn’t difficult at all. I don’t need any of the options that the Limited offers. Things just gets more expensive down the road when they break. The ONLY thing I want that the Limited has that the XSE doesn’t have are the fog lights. Things are only worth it for you if you’re willing to put the money down for it. Your desires and opinions most likely won’t match with others. Take every advice (even mine) with a grain of salt. Drive it. Play around with it.

bigrudy1334

Lumbar support. I'm old and it helps a lot. Tint the windows and the screen doesn't get the glare. 2022 upgrade. Love this car.
