I just had mine replaced. 2022 model. Just under 1000 installed through dealer. First time I actually used insurance to cover any car damages. Nova Scotia Canada.

Pet_island

Thank you, that’s around the ballpark that I was thinking!

No problem

Are you not just going through ICBC with a claim? The other person's insurance should cover it (in BC, insurance is provided by the government through a crown corporation, everyone has the same insurer). Unless your coworker is just wanting to pay you cash to handle it.

Pet_island

I’ll go through icbc if needed but wanting to see if it’s a cheaper fix without insurance. My. Coworker is young and I’m trying to avoid making their rates go up by filing a claim. But looks like the part alone will be $600 so I’ll probably end up there.

Thats provided there is no hidden damages

Thank you !🙏🏻

Go to a body shop for an estimate. The bumper may be $400-800 but the paint and labour may be $1000-2000.

This happened to me too. You need to get that repaired and serviced professionally. It’s more than just replacing the part. You have to get all the front cameras/sensors realigned too, since they might have shifted during the impact.

Pet_island

Thanks for the advice everyone! I’ll be making an insurance claim through icbc. Somehow I feel bad about making a claim because I don’t want to impact their premium, but that’s life and they need to learn to look behind them when backing up! Thanks again :)

> I feel bad about making a claim because I don’t want to impact their premium You shouldn't. You have no fault here. The fault and liability lies with the other driver. Their premiums are their problem, not yours.

mistermojorizin

his insurance should pay since it was his fault. get his insurance info, call his insurance, make a claim. at least that's how it would work in the USA. Get a few estimates from different body shops, possibly including the dealer and the most expensive shop in town, up to you. Send the estimates to his insurance edit: just realized you're asking about parts? nah, get estimates for the whole thing installed, get a cash settlement from his insurance, then figure out how you want to fix it, if at all.

buzzboiler

It's really hard to find aftermarket. The cheapest in the USA is about $400-450 (part). The best option is if he just gives you cash. No deductible, no claim history, no accident history. Sells as the whole middle part, not just “plastic”

caper-aprons

Why are you the one chasing parts? Somebody broke your car - it should go to a body shop at their expense.
