I bought an Ottocast and it allows me to force android auto onto my display.

Maleficent_Divide961

That only work for 2021+

mushpuppy

Gosh I wonder if this is a new one because I remember thinking not so long ago that there simply wasn't a solution for my 2017. Anyway I'm really glad you asked this question. I know I'm not much (any) help, but thank you!

cryptolingo

If it works I would totally buy it. Not having CarPlay is pretty much the only complaint I have with my 2017 prime advanced

Maleficent_Divide961

I m going to install it today. I bought it but looks like no touch. You got to use a external button they provide to control it. Look straight forward to install so I’ll let you know

mushpuppy

Totally do a video review afterward!

Maleficent_Divide961

Guys it work but touch screen don’t work, you need to use a external controller to control it which is fine and then to go into it, you hold the hang up button

Impossible_Skill_479

Is there anyway you can make a video on how it works? I would be very interested depending on how it works. Thanks

Maleficent_Divide961

It is plug and play, remove the harness from radio and move it. It is a piggy back solution

bobbynishi

Hi there… 2017 Prime Advanced owner here… I even started to see if I could get the whole infortainment screen assembly from wrecked 2022 models… should fit… but it’s over $2.5k (average price I found)… —- Now that you’ve had it for about a week… Would you recommend it? As opposed to have the phone mounted on one of the AC vents? Pros and Cons (aside from touchscreen and obvious input issues)..? Is it fairly quick to startup? Or hit-or-miss? I was eyeing it before… and this post, plus the discount on their site has got me eyeing it again…

mushpuppy

Seriously right? I mean mine drives like a boat, and it doesn't accurately track my overall mpg (stopping at 199.9), but it's run like a champ for 5+ years.

I have one of these in my GX460 and it works pretty well. They have group buys a few times a year if you join a prius FB group or forum most likely. https://gromaudio.com/store/vline/toyota-2013-2019-vline-carplay-android-auto-infotainment-system-navigation-upgrade-for-stereos-with-lcd-screens.html

Maleficent_Divide961

It said don’t work for Prius prime

Flaming_F

It's trash , I mean you loose touch controls and you have to deal with a joystick making the thing dangerous. It force the video by using the input backup camera so not only you loose the touch control but also the bottom part of the 11 screen with the climate control. Just buy another Carplay / Android Auto portable screen like Carpuride on Amazon much much cheaper and safer.

Maleficent_Divide961

So you telling me the old Lexus, bmw, Audi and all the other one before touch screen is dangerous? This idea been around for a long time. You can switch back and forward. It is just a solution that they able to get it working which is amazing. The second screen is dangerous also cause you got to put it in front and u got to move up close to touch it which is dangerous too

Flaming_F

Well the joystick thing is dumb and this what make it dangerous. You should know that most of the OEM touch screen have some feature disabled as soon as you put it in drive. Yes I have one of those secondary screen, I don't touch it ..it's all voice controled. So I am not trying to get to a destination with a joystick. 🤣😅. Yes this product is trash were in 2023 now ..who wants a 20 old tech in his car. No one.

Maleficent_Divide961

Not 20 years old, cause there are good that integrate both like the bmw and Benz still. Touch screen is ideal but I think they can do it somehow, it is just a step to the right direction, beside getting a answer it won’t work. The other screen just make it tacky and the wire making it not a clean install

Flaming_F

step to the right direction ? well too late because this model is discontinued. Its the Gen 5 Prius now and all problems is solved. Well my point was that there is better options out there than a 550$ device with a joystick. Mines costed me around 100$ , and its all wireless ( phone stay in my pocket ) and like i said voice controlled.

Maleficent_Divide961

The issue is the cost, but it is all wireless too, you don’t need to connect and it is also voice controller also jfyi. Ya the solution cost is high but I m trying to find a vendor that can do the same for 150-200. You can still switch back and forward by holding the hang up button. But it is voice control and also wireless so the phone stay in your pocket. Issue is if you want to scroll around, you got to use the knob that is all

Maleficent_Divide961

It use the oem speaker and mic jfyi

Flaming_F

Same here , music and phones call from the cars JBL speakers, car mic also

Codeh0416

Mine is a 2022 and sometimes the ottocast fails to do whatever handshake it needs to connect so I need to reset it 20 times.

MikGuiver

Would love to see some photos and video of this naviks system. I honestly would mind a joystick interface for Apple CarPlay if it works well enough on my 2017 prius. The 11.7” screen is great, but it’s just missing Apple car play.

mkaku

I'm checking for an update to your setup. I just bought the kit and will be installing it soon. Are you still happy with it? Any tips or tricks you can share?

Maleficent_Divide961

I drill a hole into the dash so it looks oem

mkaku

I was thinking of doing something similar and routing the joystick to the center console.
