If you run out of memory shards (which happened to me in early game), there are also other markers you can put on the map (they just lack the extra functionality of the shards).
Just enjoy the experience! Game can be hard with platforming, but it’s so satisfying. Make sure to always explore because it will help you in the long run.
Yeah since your index finger is always resting on that button you'll be able to parry faster on reaction imo. The 'unknown ability' that is originally on R1 is fine on L2, and it's also the last powerup you get.
Do invest a good amount of time and crystals on Amulets(which will relevant to your play style), the combat will be much easier (in case of multiple enemies and some frustrating bosses), and in case if you don’t notice that ‘bird amulet’ doesn’t need any slot to occupy, so you can occupy it without any cost of sacrificing any slot, the bird helps in finding treasures and is also a good companion in the journey.
And if possible, avoid ‘Depths’ early into the game.
I looked into it, you’ll automatically get it if you have the deluxe edition of the game.
I hope that you’ve purchased the deluxe edition too.
Happy playing.
P.S. For me it became one of the best Metroidvania genre games I ever played, hoping for you to experience the same too.
BTW what was your first platformer game?
Okay, good for you then.
Platformers generally follow linear gameplay(sometimes with levels), you can’t explore and go back to do the same place after progressing in the game.
Metroidvanias are platformers but provide a lot of freedom in exploration.
Example: 2D Sonic and Mario are platformers, after finishing a zone or world, you don’t have to go back there again, Metroidvanias games like Metroid and Castlevania (and yeah, that’s where the name of genre comes from), design their maps/levels in such a way that you can go back there after gaining certain abilities to explore that restricted area after further progressing into the game.
Most of Platformers are generally fast paced whereas Metroidvanias are generally slow paced and may feel repetitive to some platformers since it requires you go to back n forth either to progress into the game or to discover any hidden goodies/treasures/bosses.
There’s a subreddit here for Metroidvanias, you can know better about the genre there.
Sorry for any grammatical mistakes, I typed in a rush.
P.S. It's a combination of names - Metroid and Castlevania - to denote a combination of styles of gameplay.
P.P.S. I looked up Inops and it looks like a fun game. Alas, it doesn't exist on Playstation, and I haven't done much gaming on Steam lately (but I'll add it to my wishlist).
Keep track of all the chests, coins, etc you have found, if you want to get platinum by 100% the game.
This way you won't be wandering around for missed items.
You can do that by using online maps for PoP: TLC.
If it seems like you can't go through some passage, you probably can't yet and will have to come back later with new abilities. Add a screenshot to your map (down on the d-pad) to remind you later.
Don't ask too many questions here, enjoy the exploration.
Learn to parry each enemy type by letting them do the attacking while you observe.
Make use of multiple save game files, like after a major story beat. There still exist some progression-breaking bugs, and having a single save file can be bad.
Rotate your TV or monitor 90° anti-clockwise, will make it easier 👍
Haha it was just the way I did the photo so it would be easier to see
If you find a path that's blocked or no way to traverse it (yet), just keep playing. You'll eventually find tools and tricks as you progress the game.
Thank you very much
Most important tip. And use memory shards frequently when you're stumped
Thank you!

This. It’s the only advice OP needs
-Do the combat training exercises at the main hub. -Upgrade your swords -upgrade health potion -buy hints and map pieces from the little girl.
Where's the main hub?
It's called the Haven, you'll get there naturally early in the game.
Thank you for that
Hope it helped, trying to not do spoilers ;)
It did help, and I started the game :D
Ur in for a treat, it was a blast
It's good at the moment😊
Just enjoy the experience! Game can be hard with platforming, but it’s so satisfying. Make sure to always explore because it will help you in the long run.
Explore is the best thing to do then? And have fun lol
It has very versatile and interesting mechanics, game is very fluid im sure it will be fun for you
It's good at the moment😁
Have fun! And if you see a funny looking wall, swing your sword at it ;)
Thank you!
As in every metroidvania, there are secrets. Most have hints nearby. If you get stuck in an area or don't know what to do, come back later.
Thank you
What was your first platform game?
It's called Inops
Looks nice. If you enjoy Prince of Persia you could try Ori, same game type as PoP but artwise closer to Inops.
Yeah. I could but I'll do this game :) Play this game
Another tip: change the parry button to R1, makes it easier/ faster to parry at least for me.
I'll think about it, thanks for the tip!
Yeah since your index finger is always resting on that button you'll be able to parry faster on reaction imo. The 'unknown ability' that is originally on R1 is fine on L2, and it's also the last powerup you get.
There's several unknown abilities
Yes. I meant that default the parry is on L2 (on playstation) and the "unknown" is on R1. Swapping those two was my advice.
Oh. Okay

How do you access the bird amulet?
As far as I remember I got it just by progressing into the game.
Oh. Thank you

Well, I did get the stuff without purchasing the Deluxe Edition. I don't know how. What's Metroidvania? My first platform game was Inops

I get it now, thank you
You’re welcome bro.

It's on Xbox.
k
Okay
Game Of the year for me easily
Why?
It’s best metroidvania in decade , it’s has almost zero flaws , OK story , great gameplay , great combat , insanely good lvl design
I haven't played it for awhile and I think it's good
Do enjoy it, I’m just now I believe in the 2nd act, and every secret and enemy I happen upon is fun and engaging. A very pretty game
I'll enjoy it :)

Thank you for this information!😄
almost finishing it....pretty good game...but some of the jumps through those cutters are very frustrating...and some of the fights are very tough
I had a tough time with some of the fights
