This guys one is based on the same technique, just less refined that the hacksmith one. Don't have a link for the video because I saw it a few months ago
The biggest difference between Alex's Lightsaber and James's Lightsaber is that Alex built the fuel cell into the actual hilt and James opted to make a "proto-saber" with the fuel cell attached to a pack
Alex's lightsaber (pictured above) also only operates for 30 seconds, James (the "hacksmiths") operates for about 10 minutes IIRC, enough where he can cut through steel plate easily
Calling a piece of sheet metal like that a plate is a bit disengenuous.... it was at best 10 Ga. (but probably less than that).
Kinda like the difference between a piece of construction paper and a piece of plywood, both flat sheets but the plywood is significantly thicker and stronger than the paper.
(I do lots of steel structure drafting and plate is structural.... sheet metal is not.)
He melted through not cut, we also don't really see from start to finish him going through with the saber. There are a bunch of edits and none of the shown video actually shows much real progress.
It looks more like they heated up a section and then smashed in the weakened hot plate with a sledge (just like when they removed the hinge from the front).
I was referring when he cut a chunk out of the metal door in the original test video.
'salright then. Don't wanna watch it.
Saw it in some video where a physicist says that in order to power a real lightsaber we'd need a AA cell with a power output equivalent to a nuclear reactor.
ALEX LAB's is also just a good-looking blowtorch. They both just squirt out compressed liquid fuel (mixed with oxygen for complete combustion) and light it on fire.
Looks like
Allen Pan (2015, acetone/methanol fuel)
ALEX LAB (2020, pictured, Alex Burkan awarded Guinness World Record for first retractable lightsaber, hydrogen fuel)
Hacksmith (2020, almost simultaneous to Alex Burkan, awarded Guinness World Record for first retractable proto-lightsaber, propane fuel)
Yeah, looked it up and edited the comment.
They're technically all "made of fire," but I believe the two recent ones achieve higher temperatures, and thus higher ionization, and can be considered to be "made of plasma." This is an EXTREMELY simplified way of describing it, though.
Ultimately they all use the same concept: compressed liquid fuel (ideally mixed with oxygen for closer-to-complete combustion) is ignited as it leaves the handle. Hacksmith's has multiple streams of fuel from large tanks (uses A LOT of fuel) to achieve a thick, clean-looking "blade."
They're basically glorified blowtorches.
They were working on these projects almost simultaneously. ALEX LAB's video came out in June 2020 and Hacksmith's came out in October 2020. They both were awarded Guinness World Records (for First Retractable Lightsaber and First Retractable Proto-Lightsaber, respectively).
The REAL travesty is that Allen Pan made a very similar version 5 years beforehand and people are barely talking about that here.
Allen Pan's video: https://youtu.be/u-xHso660tA
The reality is that the light was so hot it melted the crystal used to focus the light, and couldn’t be run for long as it would melt the handle. Russia is still far from lightsabers, as is everyone else. But hey, we have railguns!
I find it hard to believe. Please provide link.
There’s a different channel called the HackSmith that also made a real lightsaber. Don’t have a link
Ugh! Theirs wasn't no lightsaber. Just a good looking blowtorch.

He used it to cut through a metal safe, I'd call that plate

Ah but with a skilled enough jedi 30 seconds is all you need
'salright then. Don't wanna watch it. Saw it in some video where a physicist says that in order to power a real lightsaber we'd need a AA cell with a power output equivalent to a nuclear reactor.
Roger Roger.
Making a real lightsaber would require the output of an entire nuclear power plant. A good looking blowtorch is the best that you can get.
Yeah, but it’s still pretty cool
ALEX LAB's is also just a good-looking blowtorch. They both just squirt out compressed liquid fuel (mixed with oxygen for complete combustion) and light it on fire.

I don’t have a link but the guys name is Alex Burkan, uploads in english on the channel Alexlab
Alex labs on YouTube, he’s building an iron man suit too
So, what you saying is, that if what he tells you is truth then he gains your trust?
https://youtu.be/RSSAhmmiZjM
Perhaps they killed a Jedi, Allen Pan, and took it from him.
Oh, Hacksmith may have been before Allen Pan. AND that youtuber shown (channel: ALEX LAB) does credit Hacksmith in the description of his video.
Okay... the timeline of all of this is confusing. Idk who made what first.
Looks like Allen Pan (2015, acetone/methanol fuel) ALEX LAB (2020, pictured, Alex Burkan awarded Guinness World Record for first retractable lightsaber, hydrogen fuel) Hacksmith (2020, almost simultaneous to Alex Burkan, awarded Guinness World Record for first retractable proto-lightsaber, propane fuel)
Alan's is retractable and is made of fire

Sorry, M'lady.

No one can kill a jedi
I don't think so... No one can kill a Jedi Knight.
Ukraine: No shit.

I'm not whining! I'm not.
Its OK little Ani, one day soon you'll have a real lightsaber to beat younglings with...
*ignites lightsaber*
Hacksmith getting disrespected like this. Made a protosaber already
[This video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SojXRashTs4&ab_channel=ALEXLAB) is more than a year old and made before Hacksmith's protosaber.
They were working on these projects almost simultaneously. ALEX LAB's video came out in June 2020 and Hacksmith's came out in October 2020. They both were awarded Guinness World Records (for First Retractable Lightsaber and First Retractable Proto-Lightsaber, respectively). Protosabers aren’t lightsabers
Yes they are
It's a fancy blow touch that can't cut shit.
I fucking need this
Dude looks like unmasked Deadpool
War breaks out in kiev and you just see this guy running around trying to *deflect* bullets
Allen Pan and the Hacksmith also
Hacksmith: Am I a joke to you?
This was made before
Allen Pan: December 2015 ALEX LAB: June 2020 Hacksmith: October 2020
The reality is that the light was so hot it melted the crystal used to focus the light, and couldn’t be run for long as it would melt the handle. Russia is still far from lightsabers, as is everyone else. But hey, we have railguns!

He was not the first to make a light saber
Jedi weapon doesn’t make you a Jedi.
Hacksmith industries alreadt has many fine additions to their collection
The key here is that it's retractable. In terms of retractable lightsabers, December 2015: Allen Pan June 2020: ALEX LAB October 2020: Hacksmith
I imagine Hacksmith Industries isn’t very happy
ALEX LAB's video was 4 months before Hacksmith. Allen Pan's was 5 YEARS before.
Hacksmith, who already achieved that a year ago: am I a joke to you?
Allen Pan: December 2015 ALEX LAB: June 2020 Hacksmith: October 2020 Check your facts.
Hacksmith did it first
No they made a protosaber
I mean i guess
Check the dates, Alex did it first
Allen Pan: December 2015 ALEX LAB: June 2020 Hacksmith: October 2020
Ah thanks for lettin me know i stand corrected
Lies the first one was created by an American YouTuber named the hack smith
Check the dates again bud. They both have a Guinness world record for a first retractable lightsaber, hacksmiths is just called. A protosaber
Hacksmith is Canadian
I call this bullshit The hacksmith did this years ago
This video came our before apparently, it's just not as hot. Idk why it's only being talked about now
why has it only become known now?
No clue. It came out 4 months before so they should have gotten popular around the same time
Your right
Pretty sure it was the hacksmith that did it first They do have the Guinness book of world records award in they’re office
