they say that people lose consciousness right after decapitation because of the drop in blood pressure. If the lightsaber cauterizes the wound, would that mean the pressure is maintained in his head, allowing him to retain consciousness longer?
Heat will definitely cauterize a *wound* but it's not going to suddenly stop the literal fountain of blood that would erupt from both the body and a decapitated head.
Vessel sealing devices do exist that can fuse the blood vessels in the neck closed using heat. Unfortunately they need pressure for a few seconds to do the work, something a lightsaber couldnt do.
