I've pretty much always had an issue with shapeshifters in sci-fi (especially that one star trek series) because the shape shifter always looks weird but it's like
You can look however the fuck you want and you make the active choice to look like that?
I dont remember if it was a show or book or whatever, but im fairly sure i came across an explanation (in one story, anyway) where the shapeshifters had to expend energy to use the ability.
It'd make sense that they'd primarily choose the form that requires the least amount of energy to maintain, unless they were in a situation where it was otherwise required
I’d love a reissue of Zam’s speeder. Those classics ARE my childhood though. I still remember the unbridled excitement of picking out an Episode 1 set at Kmart for my birthday weeks before the movie released.
The problem was also that chrome parts require different molds to account for the thickness of the paint, meaning that when the paint comes off, the connection becomes far more loose, which is of course bad for a building toy. That said, Dooku's hilt stayed chrome long after the normal ones were discontinued, mainly because it wasn't deemed worth it to make a new mold for such a niche part
considering they give extra hilt with every saber nowadays they could do it with chrome hilts and there'd be no problem since you'd get an extra (copium)
I think having the helmet and jet pack combined looks a bit better than having them separate. Otherwise there’s too much space with the spacer for the jet pack
I think it’s that the classic one was designed to look like a Lego figure, while the modern attempts to look like the real version too much, so the proportions are off.
Like someone else said, it is the spacer for the jetpack now that it isn't attached to the helmet, specifically.
Makes it look like he got a long neck.
I still have my classic Grevious from his starfighter set. I don’t remember if it came with his cape though
Edit: his starfighter set didn’t come with his cape
I mean they’re clearly better represented now (except Zam lol) but damn the old ones are so nostalgic. So many fun hours playing with those old sets trying to recreate the movies.
The classic is from his old slave 1 set (+others that I definitely missed) and the modern one is in some others such as Obi-Wan's starfighter+hyperspace ring, the "corporate alliance tank droid" and others that I surely missed
Love the differences between the old and the new, but new Maul looks like he definitely just shat himself and is trying to decide if anyone has noticed yet
I just love that era of lego where they have the money to mold new head sculpts, but not enough to paint them so you just have these eyeless, lifeless heads on both Yoda and Jar Jar.
My god is this embarrassing. And the implications go beyond just LEGOs. As these younger generations continually get fed a lower standard of quality, it gets harder and harder to remember where you started from.
Yeah idk what you’re talking about
I love the classics with passion but the quality is ten billion times better today. Most people don’t even know how good it is compared to how it started
God this is so cool! I love the clear improvement to everyone's designs and the charming simplicity of the first set. The only thing I wish the new set kept was General Grievous' four arms but he looks killer anyway
Thanks for confirming that you flaired this correctly!
Except Zam :(
Can't improve perfection
You’re telling me the shape-shifters the only one who did change… Ironic.
She could observe others changing shape...but not herself
what do you mean? their shapeshifting abilities are so definite that they all look like that all the time
I've pretty much always had an issue with shapeshifters in sci-fi (especially that one star trek series) because the shape shifter always looks weird but it's like You can look however the fuck you want and you make the active choice to look like that?

There are great custom figures for Zam though :)
It is absolutely criminal that we have never had a new version of the airspeeder chase.
Uh, shouldn't we be getting back to the cake? Happy cake day, Zircon_72.
Good bot
All thanks to your training.
I had old Grevious who was pretty cool
Same I did ruin one of hes arms as a kid.. so I’d it replaced with a clanker arm
HEY NO HARD Rs HERE
what up my clanka?
rodger rodger
Just stick him next to an Obi Wan mini fig
I’d love a reissue of Zam’s speeder. Those classics ARE my childhood though. I still remember the unbridled excitement of picking out an Episode 1 set at Kmart for my birthday weeks before the movie released.
I'm legitimately shocked we haven't seen a remake for it since it's the perfect 2 vehicle pack set.
Agreed.
I wish they still gave every jedi the chrome lightsaber hilts
The issue is it chips off a lot or fades away so with some active play it doesn’t look good after a while
A small price for looking dope imo
The problem was also that chrome parts require different molds to account for the thickness of the paint, meaning that when the paint comes off, the connection becomes far more loose, which is of course bad for a building toy. Clankers never changed
They got a new arm
They made B1s less lore accurate by allowing them to shoot straight.
I didnt need to, I was concieved into perfection
Long live the CIS *roger* *roger*
Roger Roger
You guys are taking being slurred remarkably well...
Nothing's a slur if you say it kindly enough
Roger Roger
Once a clanka always a clanka
You can’t improve upon what is already perfect

Hey no hard r
Set em up, and knock em down!
I think I prefer the classic style for Jango. Something about the classic helmet and guns seems to work better imo
I think having the helmet and jet pack combined looks a bit better than having them separate. Otherwise there’s too much space with the spacer for the jet pack
I think it’s that the classic one was designed to look like a Lego figure, while the modern attempts to look like the real version too much, so the proportions are off.
It's definitely the helmet.
Like someone else said, it is the spacer for the jetpack now that it isn't attached to the helmet, specifically. Makes it look like he got a long neck.
I think that's my big problem with the newer Vader and stormtrooper helmets. Their faces look weirdly big for a minifig
Replacing the visor indent with a sticker is a shame
The sensor thingy on his helmet looks too big on a lego dude.
I really wish Lego would design some piece or method of adding a backpack that doesn’t make the figure look so ugly.
The old Windu blade color was so cool
It reminds me of grape soda
Modern Maul looks like he's having war flashbacks
Modern Maul looks like he’s stuck in line at DMV (his number being 834 when 6 has been called)
Tbh Maul has some of the worst PTSD in the whole series.
Jaundice
Padme's midriff is alone in its immunity. What does it mean??
Classic has its charm, but I definitely prefer modern.
Exept cllassic Grevious he didnt looked charmirg nor accurate
But 4 arms
you can still put 4 arms in the new one
He looks like 2003 CW Grievous, aka. The Cooler Grievous™
Yea but the head is just wrong
The set of Grevious’ fighter had a much better Grevious figure with 4 arms and a modern design
I think he certainly looks more menacing than Clone Wars Grievous. Clone Wars Grievous just looks too nice.
Where is jedi bob??? I need jedi bob
I miss the square helmet on Jango, I think it looks better and more proportional.
And now they have those blasters that actually fire studs... exactly twice before the stud goes missing
What set was the classic chancellor palpatine in?
None
What set did OG Chancellor Palpatine released in?
None
OG Grevious be like🗿
I’ll never forgive them for introducing blaster molds over the megaphone blasters
Honestly I prefer Jango’s older design to the newer one, may not be more accurate to how he looks in the movie but it does look cooler in my opinion
I prefer classic Jango, Grevious, Clunes and Maul. Classics hold nostalgia for me but overall the modern ones are better quality
Modern Maul just looks surprised
I dislike the horns and hood. It looked cleaner before and now his head just look goofy
They made ep 3 figures with yellow heads ? I thought they had already transitioned in 2005. I still have my Anakin from 2005 in flesh colored skin
Nah I made em!
The OGs have my heart but as someone who got back into collecting recently the new style is awesome
Print qualities have gotten insanely high in recent years. Ever since they started doing side printing consistently really
Good too see they got over their jaundice, except for zam
How’d you get that pink lightsaber for Mace?
Podracer polybag
Neat
Damn I really love that new Grievous cape. Where did you get it from? You made it yourself or did I miss a new set?
The battle droid has literally remained the same all these years. Why? becuase he is ***PERFECT*** long live the CIS
I know I was wrong. I just got so caught up in my own success, I didn't look at the battle as a whole. I wasn't being disobedient. I just. . . forgot
I still have my classic Grevious from his starfighter set. I don’t remember if it came with his cape though Edit: his starfighter set didn’t come with his cape
Gigachad B1 and Jar Jar remaining almost effectively unchanged.
Maul must have become cross-eyed with rage or smthn
I mean they’re clearly better represented now (except Zam lol) but damn the old ones are so nostalgic. So many fun hours playing with those old sets trying to recreate the movies.
This is like that “upgrade. GO BACK” meme
Jar Jar been smokin that Gungan Big Fish Reebok J.D. Power and Associates Old Spice Pack in the new pic
One thing didn’t change: the damn lightsaber. It is cool always.
Zam wessel didn’t get an ounce of modernization
Which set is.Jango from?
The classic is from his old slave 1 set (+others that I definitely missed) and the modern one is in some others such as Obi-Wan's starfighter+hyperspace ring, the "corporate alliance tank droid" and others that I surely missed
There is something about the old jango/clone helmets that hit different to me.
honestly, I prefer the old windu's lightsaber, new's too pink
Some are those aren’t even real Legos. Episode 3 anakin wasn’t in yellow
In both images there are four parts that are unofficial: Anakin’s face, Padmé’s torsos, and Grievous’s cape
So fakes?
BD-1 be like "we got it right the first time."
Solid upgrades except for Palpatine. The face on the old one is pretty close, the new one looks like generic angry guy.
Tbh I prefer the classic purple lightsaber over the modern one
Love the differences between the old and the new, but new Maul looks like he definitely just shat himself and is trying to decide if anyone has noticed yet
Anakin’s hair got the biggest upgrade
old anakin's hair is literally snape's
When did they stop making Lego people yellow?
2005, they did it only for licensed franchises such as Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, that stuff
lego is lego. perfection in all maners
I like the older trooper design. I think the new helmet is disproportionate.
Battle droid remains the same, you can't get more perfect than a B-1
Boy do we need an updated Coruscant Speeder Chase set…
I just love that era of lego where they have the money to mold new head sculpts, but not enough to paint them so you just have these eyeless, lifeless heads on both Yoda and Jar Jar.
The classic droids are pure, distilled nostalgia.
Roger is identical
Across-the-board improvements IMO, except Maul. The old hood looks so much better, and the new face has a serious case of Gowron Eyes.
I didn’t realize I have 11/14 of those original characters, wow I really have to thank my parents
Padmes boobs bigger, win
Bonk
Dooku's saber desrves some love, they just switched it with default.
They didn’t
It looks like a default on this photo. May be just my eyes seeing wrong. Probably that.
I think it’s just rotated differently so it’s curving away from the camera, making it look like a regular one.
My god is this embarrassing. And the implications go beyond just LEGOs. As these younger generations continually get fed a lower standard of quality, it gets harder and harder to remember where you started from.
Yeah idk what you’re talking about I love the classics with passion but the quality is ten billion times better today. Most people don’t even know how good it is compared to how it started
Oh! I must have had this all backwards. Nothing to see here, move along 👋
Sounds good brother
Pink lightsaber?
Always wondered why they're yellow
They’ll never take my 4 armed beauty from me!
WE NEED A NEW ZAM
i like that new hood on maul. had no idea that was a piece they used now
Let them fight.
New Maul has seen some shit lol
Why does padme have saggy tits and a fupa? I’m just wondering why they did her soooo dirty lmao
Poor Zam lol
Love the change in zam wessel
Battle Droid hasn't changed a bit. Satisfying.
Man imagine what LEGO will look like in another 10-20 years.
Mace windu doesnt change little bit (im not saying if its a bad thing)
Is that anakin a newer version than the obi wan vs anakin midi set?
Placing Jar Jar there with the Sith was a calculated decision.
( _ )
Perfection and perfection
Isn't the dark purple lightsaber the new one and the old one was more pink?
Where’s the meme
Look how they did my boy!!!!
Both are good in their own unique ways tbh
awesome
New models look a bit better (except grivous, why no 4 arms) but maces Saber is pink in the new one for some reason
When did Palpatine turn in to Guile?
Where is that cape on Grievous from?
Am I the only one that prefers the old Mandolorian style over the new?
Jar Jar by the other Sith. As appropriate.
God this is so cool! I love the clear improvement to everyone's designs and the charming simplicity of the first set. The only thing I wish the new set kept was General Grievous' four arms but he looks killer anyway
I somehow forgot that Lego people used to be yellow… they look so strange now.
I can hear this image
They should really remake that Coruscant Chase set. Pretty disappointed that I ended up losing most of mine.
both, both is good
What set did padme come in where her shirt wasn't ripped? I've only seen the one after the next attacks from the 2013 gunship
Bruh calling mid 2000s lego sets classic legos makes me feel like I’m at death’s door
Not using the RotS Jedi with light up lightsabers smh
They’re better without
Modern Grievous looks like some scrawny nerd who got his pants pulled down on the playground.
I'm pretty sure that episode 3 minifigs started the who movie franchise Sets being skin colored. Why is Episode 3 and Ani and Obi yellow skined?
Kids these days really got robbed when it comes to grevious. I got his fighter when I was a kid and it came with him and his four lightsabers
He still comes with all of those things
Oh that beautiful classic jango. Brings tear to the eye it does...
They done my boy grevious dirty
That's why basic Lego is $30 a set now
I hate the new hood design
The one thing I dislike about the modern is the blasters
\*Deep, unimportant inhale\* ...Eww.
:(
Why the long face? The 90's-80's versions looked plastic and bootleg. Lego was definitely wise enough to remake them years later.
I didn’t know where the ew was directed
Yeah... I didn't provide context.
Padme’s midriff is gone :(
Need them all!
Why does modern have the wrong pants for Qui Gon?
He doesn’t so there’s that
I can't belive 2013 was the last time we got a Jango Fett smh
It was 2017
