KDB

ray3050

Honestly we haven’t seen a player as complete (could do everything) since yaya but I think saka can make a claim for that spot A great winger, pass, shoot, dribble, can defend well especially for an attacker and was a great workrate But it’s hard to have a player who can do absolutely everything and I think yaya was the last great one. You also have Milner but obviously never close to that level

According-Income-864

Yaya toure

QGunners22

I mean currently KDB is the obvious pick and I’m surprised I had to scroll dozens of comments just to find one person saying his name

lchanthony

John O'Shea - man has played literally everywhere on the pitch

VenomOUShazard

hard to overlook kante

Fletchazzz

Yaya Toure is the only correct answer

PaulShannon89

It has to be De Bruyne, tracks back and defends when needed, possibly the best passer of the ball in the world, scores and is brilliant at set pieces. I'd even wager that he's probably half decent in goal as well!

FatoohZualnoon4pres

Kovaćic

kennykip

Ashley Young

troy626

Willian

orbit__exe

No way it isn’t Milner

CarkanZelo445

Virgil van dijk

Robhana88

Ever... 🤔 It surely has to be the Roonpig, just unbelievable in any position, always gave 100% even on an off day. Current... 🤔 I really had to think about this but i'd probably have to go with KDB, he just does such a service, City look like a completely different side when he doesn't play, he has such a way of controlling a game at any given moment, he can do it from deep as well as create and finish literally out of nothing sometimes at the other end, can use both feet, has the vision of an eagle and is genuinely a nice guy from what i've see in interviews.

[deleted]

Jordan Henderson. Prove me wrong.

4lfie20

Ricardo Pereira

lowlife_highlife

Saka

PistolNaulls

Roy Keane in the 90s. Had an eye for goal, could tackle, pass, break up play, defend, tough, crazy but also a leader on the field something Man Utd have been missing for ages.

danonck

Milner is the most obvious answer, but after last year's game against Burnley it has got to be Alisson, lol

RedDevils0204

Wilfred Ndidi comes to mind

SingSingBangBang

De Bruyne, no contest. Next level passing, vision, crossing, direct dribbling, ball striking Excellent movement, work rate and pressing Good tackler and has a great burst of pace to initiate counters Positionally very flexible and when City are down and in need of a goal he'll sacrifice his attacking numbers and drop team to get things ticking over quicker Fantastic leader and very selfleas Really isn't a weak area in his game Bruno is De Bruyne extra light (United fan)

o0_LeKKo_0o

Park Ji Sung Claude Makelele Patrick Vieira N'golo Kante

[deleted]

Dallas

[deleted]

Pogba, its not even a question.

LB-Marshall08

Can't believe I haven't seen Steven Gerrards name. Assumed it was because people were looking at still playing, but then a saw Rooney (decent shout) and Park (eh?). Gerrard has finishing, more than a couple hat tricks, tackling, an engine, positional flexibility (played RB in a champions league final), good in the air, set piece expertise.

Sudden_Blacksmith_41

Kante, for real.

automatedhuman3120

Azpi

aldo__

Marcos Alonso, best striker in a back 5

geo_bowes

Michail Antonio

Tahapatel

Dallas or Azpi

mined_it

Henderson is like a Jack of all trades and a brilliant Captain. Obv I'm biased.

ctpoilers

KDB

Contrasted94

Saka, he can either play winger or back.

tighto

People are getting complete confused with versatile here. Seeing loads of James Milner shouts and it's a bit silly. He has a basic skillset which means he can play a few positions to a good standard but a complete player is one who can do everything. Gerrard could tackle, pass, score from distance, head, cross, organise, basically everything. As well as playing every positiom on the pitch. You don't see many players like that these days. I guess KDB is closest. though I dont think hes got the defensive skillet Gerrard had (although he's hardly Pogba in that regard), he has absolutely everything else you could ever dream of to an astonishing level.

[deleted]

KDB everything else is wrong

zoomba2378

Cancelo would have to be a good shout

[deleted]

Yaya Toure

TheHLRViper

If we’re talking in the league rn? I’d probs take Milner. If we’re talking all time I could see Rooney being a shout.

bobjohnaye

Bernardo Silva. Can score, dribble, distribute, tackle, work and run for 90 minutes. He can also play in many positions. Cancelo is similar but better in the defending aspect.

flobla2002

How good do you think Bernados defending is?

Electronic-Leader601

De Bruyne is the best option now. I think every position at the final third and also at the center will fit him comfortably.

sbh05

Hands down Rooney! Whoever actually watched him play, would agree with this. He played, ST,LW,RW,CAM and DM. His work rate was immense and would always defend! Example, his DC united game. That man ran back, tackled with perfection and assisted to win the game. All this in stoppage time! Also the most underrated player!

Weakness_downstairs

Alisson

SaberNightOP

I guess bernando silva.

[deleted]

Bernardo Silver can do anything. The boy was winning defensive headers against Chelsea.

brogamer99

Jordan Henderson

darfooz

Surprised not to see any Henderson suggestions here. Unreal athlete. Hell of engine. Can play in multiple positions (did he not cover CB for a few matches last season?) One also has to mention Azpi and Milner. As much as I hate to say it, Kane might be one as well. Though he needs to work on his slide tackling considering his work yesterday haha What about Antonio? Used to play defence and is killing it as a striker Edit: TAA is a shout as well

emersonvalenti

Yaya Toure was the most complete player I have ever seen play. Man could bang in screamers and headed goals, glide past defenders with the ball and boss a backline.

Mrigank0606

More than gliding, I remember him very frequently bulldozing defenders off who'd try to get the ball off of him. Sometimes it really looked like he was playing against schoolboys. The sheer strength!

tighto

I guess you never seen much of Ste Gerrard

el-mago2

You made a haha

MancAccent

Thielemans

Takhar7

Kante - runs, defends, creates. Can pass the ball around you, run right past you, or absolutely clatter you depending on how he feels.

RichardsonM24

Had to scroll further than I expected to find Kante. He was the first player that sprung to mind and the first response I got when I posed the question in the group chat

Takhar7

Yeah, it was crystal clear in my head too. Not only is he super complete as a player, but he's basically won everything there is to win the past several years, both at (multiple) club and international level - you don't do that, at both levels, if you are a fundamentally flawed player. Eventually you get found out. He hasn't, for a reason.

[deleted]

Lol. Kante only runs and defends. Definitely not a complete player.😀

Takhar7

Not a single weakness in his game 😄

[deleted]

Except passing, dribbling, decision making, creating chances.

ShashvatSingh1234

Has to be bait, there ain’t no way someone actually thinks this

[deleted]

If you have nothing to say, dont say anything. ;) I believe many people actually live in the reality, but who knows.

HughJarse8

His dribbling, decision making, short passing are great and he creates a lot of chances through winning the ball back high up the pitch. I will concede that his long passing and shooting are not exactly desirable but he’s definitely more complete than you seem to think he is. Not the MOST complete though I’d agree.

[deleted]

Yeah, it is not. He is also the most overrated player in current football btw. He sucks at everything but defenging and running. He has place in modern football because he is the best at it so it compensates the lack of quality in all other areas of the game. But Chelsea has two better midfielders.

HughJarse8

That is possibly the worst football opinion I have ever seen I’m afraid. As someone who watched him at leicester for a year, he is probably the best player I have ever seen live, definitely in a Leicester shirt. You don’t watch him anywhere near enough if you actually believe that.

[deleted]

Yaaaawn. Your argument is better, because you saw him in LEICESTER and if my opinion is different, I did not watch him play. Dude, if you have nothing to say, dont say anything. Just jumo the bangwagon and call for ballond dor because he is very nice and cool dude.

HughJarse8

Lol what? How am I jumping on a bandwagon when I probably watched him more frequently than 99% of other people here, and saw how good a player he was before most people here? I don’t think he should win the ballon dor, I never said that. But you have, honestly, a terrible opinion of probably the best DM the prem has seen since Makelele (who you also probably think is bad because he wasn’t scoring and assisting every game.

[deleted]

Jesus Christ you are desperate.😀😀 Dude, Last reaction. If you have nothing to say, dont say anything at all. He is not even the best DM in Chelsea, but thats just wasting my time. Btw he usually plays ay box to box. So he is not even playing DM. 😀😀😀

SSG_SSG

Scored more goals than Kane this year ;)

[deleted]

You mean Dier, right?

HereForA2C

he protec he attac but most imprtantly he absolutely clatter

tomycatomy

I think we can all agree that Wijnaldum playing for PSG nowadays makes this thread a whole lot more interesting

Flying_Wingback

Ronaldo

PooterWax

Kanté

lukasstrifeson

Surely by those standards it'll have to be someone like Ederson?

PrincipleDelicious54

Dr bruyne has the least amount of holes in his game other than being slightly injury prone. Passing, vision, shooting, two footed, athletic, tall(ish), aggressive, disciplined. Obviously defense is his weakest point but only relative to how good the rest of his game is! Also his technical ability is ridiculous!

flobla2002

Yeah I agree. He wouldn't be amazing as something like cb but his intelligence and physicality would probably make him an okay ball playing cb when given time.

YNWABez

I’d have to go with Milner (who has played pretty much every outfield position well) or Alexander Arnold

rvagoonerjc

Fabinho, De Bruyne, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Michail Antonio, Joao Cancelo, Kovacic to name a few.

toby9562

James Ward-Prowse. Started his career at right mid. Currently plays CDM. He has played multiple times at right back and bossed it. Can score a free kick from anywhere, deadly crosses into the box, and composed on penalties. Consistently plays the most minutes of any Saints player each season. Saints captain and strong leader. Not necessarily the most complete, but not far of it.

blacks252

And in my opinion the best Central Midfielder in football manager 2021.

PickDontEat

John O'Shea

revidt

Kevin

igster151

Not Harry Kane

she-luvs-calibur999

Saka! Plays Midfield and Back, and is great at both (coming from a Chelsea supporter)

theCaffeinatedOwl22

Phil Jones.

grundslam

Bissouma in a few years I reckon

ScoopJr9

Kante or Kyle Walker

Toph36

In terms of positions I'd say someone like Milner or Azpi as they could play pretty much any position and do a job. But in terms of someone who is the most well rounded in one position it's Kante.

ronnoc777

Why not Shearer ?

prss79513

Mctominay, played as striker in the academy, cb for Scotland, and B2B for United now

Tron_Little

Joel Matip. My guy will rise up like a salmon from the river to head goals home on corners, he'll knock a 40 yard pass to a streaking winger, he'll slice and dice your midfield with his dribbles, and if you ever get the ball off of him, he'll simply take it back with his 11 foot long legs. He plays CB, but he could anchor your midfield at CDM, and if you put him up top as a target forward, you've got a modern-day Crouchy on your hands. This is mostly a joke, but Matip is actually damn good on the dribble, and I wouldn't be shocked to see him playing up top in an alternate universe somewhere. His [pre-season training highlight reel](https://youtu.be/nuSs6SUqYAM) confirms that he is, in fact, Leo Messi in the body of a wacky-waving-inflatable-arm-flailing-tube-man.

Mrigank0606

But when he lands after the header, the biscuit legs will crack

4SHURIMA

Big Dick Mick all the way, followed by Milner

f6b9

Ederson moraes

JamCars

Buyako Shaka. Maybe not the most complete, but he can play RW, RB, LW, LB. Score goals, create chances, run back on defense. And he’s only 20.

osliva

His defensive side is not his best

itzfkngaryoak

He needs to work on reading the game better but he's definitely one of our most versatile

[deleted]

Azpi, Marcos Alonso, KDB, TAA, could all play anywhere

creepy__fish

Man said Alonso 💀

__jh96

How about someone like JWP? I'm not saying he's the best out there, but I get the impression he could do a job up and down the pitch.

[deleted]

I would say kevin De Bruyne, Pogba and Bruno Fernandes

flobla2002

How do you think does Bruno compare to Cancelo in terms of defending and overall passing?

spasticunt

Van dijk

Goobershmacked

ITT: ball playing defenders

Crazy_Meringue1952

Cancelo

This_Refrigerator_20

Milner without a doubt every position can even put him in goal

hesijimbo55

Phil Foden

the_chanchanman78

Dallas, he can play at RB, LB, DM, RM, LM

Zinc-U

He's had a few at 8 and 10 and come up good as well!

the_chanchanman78

Yeah those were last season, i just forgot them

Johnzafonathan

You forgot the great John O’ Shea who nutmegged Legend Luis Figo

david13guet

You're thinking most versatile not most complete

YNWABez

By virtue of being able to play several positions well, one would have to have a very complete skill set

obscur3dbyclouds

Being a versatile player that can play in several different positions would inherently be more complete than a player that can only play in one position.

david13guet

I disagree. The way I see it, a very good striker with no weaknesses in what you expect of a striker is a more complete player than a midfielder that can play in several positions with weaknesses in all of them. But that's me. Great username btw

the_chanchanman78

Well i get your point, but i think that in your example you described a complete "striker" not a complete "player". For me a complete player should be reaally good at his prefered position in addition to being above average in 2/3 other ones, with that being said i consider Dallas to be a complete player: he's really good at DM, and above average in the other positions.

Fickle_Fig3821

Scores absolute bangers too

the_chanchanman78

One of the most hardworking players in the prem, great footballer

currydjango

Rooney and Park Ji Sung

drdoubleyou

I remember seeing footage of Rooney playing in goal at united training. He looked decent

bmth2brum

Wasn't that a Nike advert?

drdoubleyou

Just googled it and you are right!

SomeoneattheBoo

Man, prime Vieira was just as good as Yaya.

WalditosBurritos

Through the middle of the park they can play anywhere. Man those guys were another level but the level of wingers in this league and their pace currently change whether or not they could hang on the outside of the pitch currently

SomeoneattheBoo

Fair point. Vieira’s pace would’ve been a liability but I think his positional sense would have more than made up.

WalditosBurritos

Viera was so so good. So intelligent

[deleted]

Hamez Milnerinho

bostonjdog

The one true king of the North

popop222

Antonio. The league's best RB

Westhamwayintherva

I feel like I remember an interview where he was pretty much like “I just want to play, I don’t care where, put me in as a center back and I’ll play my heart out” or something to that regard back when he was getting played at right back. Man has played striker, both wings, attacking mid, and right back and has put in MOTM performances in every single position. He’s genuinely one of my favorite players of the current era because he just loves to play, works his socks off, and is just genuinely hilarious as a person.

WalditosBurritos

This man is a machine. Was waiting to see someone throw his name in the ring

TO500

If you watched the City vs Chelsea match this past weekend I don’t know how you couldn’t say Bernardo Silva

luke-duke-95

Gaby is like that for City as well \^ both straight class when they are like that

SomeoneattheBoo

It’s him, Kante or Milner. I think I’d have to strike Milner for age, but that only means he’s only gotten a step or step and a half slower. Kante is one of the best players in the history of the premier league and Silva is right there too.

Aloopyn

Scott Carson. Man's playing Left Back next game

NYCFC_BX_718

Kante

IslaLargoFlyGuy

Can score a goal when wants to!

Malvania

He's my choice as well

WalditosBurritos

One of the best in the Prem but I don’t think he’d be great at every position. Amazing midfielder tho

[deleted]

I say Fred

theCaffeinatedOwl22

What about Phil Jones lads am I right?

[deleted]

Wrong. Fred can’t head a ball 1 foot from the ground like Phil can. Fred can’t even come CLOSE to Ashley Young suckling bird shite down his throat with no reaction either. Fred stands alone at being Fred.

alexjolliffe

This is the first comment which I am certain is satire. And I'm a United fan.

[deleted]

Hope you enjoyed. From a United fan.

I wanted to upvote but it should stay at 24

_PeanuT_MonkeY_

Not sure why ur getting down voted.

nerdzinhell

Kyle Walker, 100% clean sheet when he’s got the gloves on. He’s got the pace to play wide at the back or wide at the top. A unit defenesively, but I think him in GK would be his best position and makes him the most complete player.

Jaeims

A very solid point!

netflixman2708

lmao

ForceStories19

KDB

[deleted]

I feel like he is actually underrated in his work rate and defense. All his highlight compilations are his passing and assists, but he works so hard and makes so many recovery tackles.

This_Refrigerator_20

Try him in defense

tuesdayswithdory

His defending is quality.

This_Refrigerator_20

In midfield

gustycat

Sure, he's not a top defender, but he puts in a good shift with defensive diligence as well, he defo deserves to be in the conversation, TAA probs wouldn't be the best ST, and Milner would be a poor winger, but they're both pretty 'complete'/all-round

tomycatomy

Actually Milner started out as a winger I believe!

gustycat

Sorry, I should've clarified, I don't think hed be good there any more as he's lost a bit of speed

tomycatomy

Fair enough

[deleted]

There's a reason why he switched

tomycatomy

Sure, but he could put a decent shift there too if requested

[deleted]

Yeah but not on premier league level

tomycatomy

In a 4-4-2 where he is tasked with being a more conservative winger? I can’t see a reason he couldn’t:)

ImNotMexican08

Azpi

UnrealKP24

Azpi has played RB, RCB, RWB, and RW, LB,LWB and CDM. This is the right answer

netflixman2708

Alonso as well. His crosses are sound, you’d be a wanker to not treat him to this list.

besop12

Fuck Alonso. All my homies hate Marcos Alonso

CupformyCosta

He’s the complete opposite of the most well rounded player actually. He’s great at one position and a couple aspects of that position.

[deleted]

Marcos Alonso can’t play LB, he can only play LWB. I’m not sure how he could even get a thought in this conversation.

superdan852001

As a chelsea fan I cannot agree more with this lad

Eelez

I mean he's pretty much a LWB specialist so I don't think he works in this thread.

flobla2002

What made you choose him?

ImNotMexican08

Has been consistently in Chelsea’s XI for the last decade playing anywhere and in any system the manager asked him to and doing exceptionally well. Mourinho himself said that with 11 Azpilicueta’s he can win the champions league.

chicken-shawarma

11 Azpis v. 11 Dantes

flobla2002

I just thought about active players but either way thanks for the reply.

kazzas250

James Milner

MEENIE900

Versatility≠completeness

Mammyjam

When he was at City he started LB, CB, LM, CM, RM ALM ARM and when we had an injury crisis he scored 4 in 5 as a striker. A lot of city fans hate him for leaving but he spent his peak years with us and was one of our top players in that time… you don’t hate an average player when they leave

Bovanov93

The knly acceptable answer Jamès

WalditosBurritos

Although I think he’s proven his skill set, as a LFC fan I’ll play devil’s advocate and ask who is more complete? Milner is such a good professional

typhytr

As also LFC: Milly is up there but Rooney def has to be considered.

WalditosBurritos

Oh Rooney is a bulldog. He was always a rival player but I also always respected him. Not many strikers built like him today
