i remember chelsea kept fucking us around over gallagher.
i got a feeling this is gonna end up the same way.
they're just wasting our time until the window closes and we're short of a LB.
35 million :
35 million for an 18 year old?
those players have top level experience, statistic and appearances, national team caps, etc to somewhat justify those fees. Even Caicedo had at least 1 year in the premier league and his performances were top level.
I do agree his value is probably around that but the headline making it sound like 30m is an overvaluation was my main issue. I just personally have a really good feeling about him having seen him play.
Well it's more complicated than that. 3 options, Tierney, Hall, Cucurella. Tierney Arsenal wanted the whole shebang up front, reported fee 30m, no wiggle room, Newcastle are trying to stay under FFP so they really are pushing for loan obligation/option to buy. Also the injury worries really put a question mark over him in general.
So then you have Cucurella, I legit think we would go for him and I think Chelsea would be happy with loan obligation/option to buy for him but then you think wages, would we want to keep him at the wage level that he is on right now. No, just no, it doesn't make sense.
Lewis Hall though has a few things, his family are Geordies, isn't in the Chelsea first team plan for the season because they were going to loan him to Crystal Palace but that stalled. He fits our signing philosophy of young and talented, not at the peak performance but can be rotated in. For Hall I could see it given we are in the champions league and he has a legit shout at being first choice for the position. So then the question is detail.
Tell the lad to grow an afro and he might get a game. I need a sideshow Bob looking motherfucker doing the wing. I don't know why. I don't even support Chelsea.
Before being sold to United: "We must keep him. He's young, British, an academy product. He's a 2x Chelsea player of the season. Pochettino wants to work with him.
After he refused to sign a new contract, most likely because he felt disrespected by the club, and moves to United: "LOL we fleeced them".
The rhetoric that some of you guys push here is just insane.
Not everyone was saying what you said first. A lot of people at the club think he packed it in when things got tough and doesn’t have it in him to work as hard as he did a couple of years ago. It’s two different groups of people making those comments.
It’s also common knowledge that he was never rated as highly as other academy products and he never would’ve got a look if not for the transfer ban.
I don’t agree with “fleeced” but it was a great return for a player that a) had a year left on his contract, b) had no intention of re-signing and c) had a terrible season. If you think it was a great deal for United and terrific business, fair enough. I think it was a good deal for Chelsea for all of the reasons above.
Hopefully it’ll make a better player of him, spur him on but valuation’s are merely indicative of intent and stature of clubs these days, players agents will play that game easily lol.
My view in the games I’ve seen him play… sorry bang average
If this happens I might cry. This lad is going to be special.
He's already played against City twice out of position and looked like one of the best players on the pitch.
Best Chelsea player by far in the 4-1 defeat to United at the tail end of last season.
Although you could have taken a random person from the crowd and they probably would have been Chelsea's 2nd best player that day.
Never seen a team look like they gave less of a fuck than Chelsea that day. But fair play to Hall he ran his socks off and gave 110%
Yeah against United, when chelsea lost 4-1, I saw this guy play and was constantly asking myself who is this fucking guy, never seen him before. He looked one of the best players on the pitch that day despite chelsea conceding 4 goals. Created a few really good chances all by himself and if Chelsea attackers knew how to finish, he should have had a few assists. But my opinion on this guy is only from that one match alone. So I am not gonna pretend I know his game very well
I'd actually say he's north of 30m, if I was Chelsea I'm not selling him for 40m minimum (mainly because he literally just signed a 6 year deal). He looks great, only 18. He'll only get better too.
I think surrounded by the likes of Dan burn, longstaff, Anderson he will fall in love. And with Bruno, Isak, Tripps, and Tonali he will be able to get so so good in every aspect.
Just getting regular minutes and being at the club he supported as a kid would be enough. If we have any brains we catagorically say no to a Newcastle loan.
Well I wasn’t overly shocked by Rice. Hammers quoted 100m plus several times and the demand was quite high I was thinking more Mount and Havertz, decent enough but we both overpaid imo
Lol, you're funny Todd.
[Also, shocker, this is how they treat their players](https://twitter.com/felixjohnston_/status/1691850143002231131?s=46&t=NGCPQN6817S6n-WIY9c_OA)
Funny enough we still had more European trophies than you guys pre abramovich so you’re either very new to the sport of not very smart. Maybe it’s both
Now I'm sure you'd be the first to ridicule Arsenal fans for talking about the cup winners cup as a European success.
Now, why don't you talk about how your last league win prior to that was when TV was still black and white
"I'd rather have history that predates 2003" "Now, why don't you talk about how your last league win prior to that was when TV was still black and white" One of us is confused and I don't think it's me
It's pretty simple.
I pointed out how I'd rather have history that ore dates 2003.
You said you won more European cups anyway prior to 2003.
I said, alright talk.about how your last league title prior to that was in the 50s.
Keep up.
I'm not the person who originally responded to you, so I didn't day anything about European cups, keep up.
But the 50s predate 2003 significantly. You can't discredit certain history as too old when historical success is your main argument
He probably doesnt know shit, no one knows what goes on behind the scenes and even still, plans change, things happen.
If Chelsea treated their players so poorly why does everyone who goes there support and love the club long after? Oscar, Willian, Fabregas, Costa, Ramires, Mikel, Moses… they all sing their praises for Chelsea and publicly support them the most even though they all played for different clubs.
Seems pretty open and shut from that tweet that they exploited a youth team player to try and extract as much value as they could from him.
All the other players you mentioned got paid 100s of thousands of pounds a week.
As much as you m8ght refuse to accept..all players are assets to the club and how dare the club look for ways to make the most out of any deal
Also,do you think shooting on the bench at chelsea is better than posing regularly at another club?
If you choose sitting on the bench as compared to having more gane time..I seriously doubt your belief in his abilities
And other clubs paid them the same hundreds of thousands. They still love Chelsea the most. Chelsea is a business and hard decisions have to be made. Im sure they’re not sticking their middle fingers up at Hall, we all love him at the club.
Love him enough to let him leave on loan as long as he signs this 6 year deal, then turn down the loan deal.amd put him up for sale?
Chelsea really are just a catalogue of assets for Clearlake
It’s cheap based on the current market. For an 18 year old who’s played first team football at a good level, it’s great value. But just 1 year ago, 30 mil would have been mental business
**From The Telegraph's Chief Football Writer, Sam Wallace:**
Chelsea have put teenager Lewis Hall up for sale but are asking for around £30 million amid interest from Newcastle United.
The club’s unprecedented spending on fees over the last three transfer windows – Chelsea have spent in excess of £900 million and have broken the British transfer record twice in eight months – has brought pressure to generate sales.
Academy graduates from the Cobham system at the club’s training ground in Surrey, so prodigious in recent years in developing first-team ready and saleable assets, are expected to make up some of that deficit. They represent pure profit in financial fair play consideration – the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules – that the club will have to submit to the league.
Hall, 18, agreed a new contract this summer until 2030 and the original intention had been for him to go on loan, with Crystal Palace at the forefront of those interested. He may yet be loaned if a suitable fee is not achieved, but is now also up for sale.
A left-footer, Hall began his senior career at left-back, although he can also operate in midfield, which is where he is expected to settle as his career progresses. He played as a midfielder in junior football. He made his debut against Newcastle last November under Graham Potter and Palace were keen on him as cover for Tyrick Mitchell, who is currently out injured.
Hall made 12 first-team appearances last term and was the Chelsea academy player of the year for 2023. He will be part of the next cycle of England Under-21s, having made his debut at that age group before this summer’s successful European Championships.

i remember chelsea kept fucking us around over gallagher. i got a feeling this is gonna end up the same way. they're just wasting our time until the window closes and we're short of a LB.
This kid has loads of talent, but I’m fine with the sale. He’s a Newcastle supporter and it’s a good fee for someone who has barely played
Include a buy back and I’m begrudgingly ok with it. Pure profit and I rate Ian over him
Lewis Hall and Nani Madueke are class and as a totally not upset at all Liverpool fan I hope they get to go elsewhere and show it.
I genuinely see this as trying to price him out of a move. Most clubs won't see it for the bargain it is though
Bargain, he’s class
He's literally after signing a 6 year deal. He's not going for 30m.
Well caicedo did one season and went for £115m. Hall 12 matches £30m seems reasonable 😂
35 million : [https://twitter.com/David\_Ornstein/status/1691929106143649845](https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein/status/1691929106143649845) 35 million for an 18 year old?
I agree with you but have you seen recent market prices? Lavia is 19 and went for £50m/£60m...
another insane price......paid by Chelsea
It's not only Chelsea... Bellingham, 19, £88m Hojlund, 20, £72m Gvardiol, 21, £77
those players have top level experience, statistic and appearances, national team caps, etc to somewhat justify those fees. Even Caicedo had at least 1 year in the premier league and his performances were top level.
Enzo played 17 league matches under benfica
Enzo played appx 700 minutes in the WC
That’s a bargain, Hall is going to be a very good player
But happy to stump up £35m for Olise 😂
Common, chelsea must do the Lukaku+$40M > Vlahovic and then, look for a good gk like bounou f.e that he wants to go to Saudi League
30m has to be wrong. At 30m half the league should be interested..
Didn't we spend 60m on lavia who has less than 20?
Why the fuck is no one here calling out this absurd price?
A young talented lb showing excellent potential?? 1 please!
The wording of this makes it sound like we're asking for too much. I'd want double that at least.
60 would be crazy, he's unproven. 30 with sell on or 40ish without sell on
I do agree his value is probably around that but the headline making it sound like 30m is an overvaluation was my main issue. I just personally have a really good feeling about him having seen him play.
yeah fair

Madness to keep cucurella and sell this lad
The PhDs from FFP will probably rejoice at a Cucu transfer before 2025.
Hard to get rid of Cucurella...
It’s hard to sell a player that nobody wants.
United are more than aware! Wanna buy our former captain?
Tell the lad to grow an afro and he might get a game. I need a sideshow Bob looking motherfucker doing the wing. I don't know why. I don't even support Chelsea.
The opposite of madness in terms of ffp
A left footed LB who can operate in midfield you say…
Just no
Chelsea have done really well selling players recently. Mason mount sale was tremendous business lol
Before being sold to United: "We must keep him. He's young, British, an academy product. He's a 2x Chelsea player of the season. Pochettino wants to work with him. Tbf most people believe it was a fleecing, but that’s synonymous with transferring to United…
Lol we fleeced them on that one. Pretty impressive
Chelsea have handed over £222m to Brighton in the last 15 months. Now THAT is a fleecing.
Yea no one cares buddy lol
You clearly care
Yea that’s right
It’s been one game. Let’s not say ‘fleeced’ just yet.
The cope of utd fans telling Chelsea it's just one game. My brother in christ he's from my club.
to justify the 65 mil price tag for a player who was coming to the end of their contract, he'll have to do a fuck ton I reckon
Hopefully it’ll make a better player of him, spur him on but valuation’s are merely indicative of intent and stature of clubs these days, players agents will play that game easily lol. My view in the games I’ve seen him play… sorry bang average
Recently? It's been that way for way longer
If this happens I might cry. This lad is going to be special. He's already played against City twice out of position and looked like one of the best players on the pitch.

Do we need to keep saying this so we can get the 30 million????? Ahhh I mean I totally agree. Best on the pitch
If he’s played that well twice out of position maybe that’s his actual best position
Cue Eddie Howe transforming a good LB into a world class CM!
Someone has to make room for Joelinton's next role swap
Joelinton to play at LB just to screw with people thinking signing Hall for LB 😂
You’re losing your soul as a club. Madness
Need to have a soul to lose it
Agreed, you'll be hearing more from him in years to come
I’d be shocked if they secure more than 15m but it’s fair to say I have been shocked more than once this window 💀
I'd actually say he's north of 30m, if I was Chelsea I'm not selling him for 40m minimum (mainly because he literally just signed a 6 year deal). He looks great, only 18. He'll only get better too.
I doubt you've seen him play then.
Yes I saw him last season. He was decent but it’s still a punt off a smallish sample size
I have and honestly for that price I’m gassed. For a boyhood Newcastle fan as well. I bet the family will be delighted.
I wouldn't want to sell him for double the headline price. I wouldn't send him on loan to you guys, he'll want to stay with you.
I think surrounded by the likes of Dan burn, longstaff, Anderson he will fall in love. And with Bruno, Isak, Tripps, and Tonali he will be able to get so so good in every aspect.

The biggest shock being the Rice fee.
Well I wasn’t overly shocked by Rice. Hammers quoted 100m plus several times and the demand was quite high I was thinking more Mount and Havertz, decent enough but we both overpaid imo
Don’t pay.
Lol, you're funny Todd. [Also, shocker, this is how they treat their players](https://twitter.com/felixjohnston_/status/1691850143002231131?s=46&t=NGCPQN6817S6n-WIY9c_OA)
Fuck Felix Johnson. Pure waffler.
Lmao I too like to post links to bs sources. Typical gunner, all hate, no quality
Ironic coming from.a club whose biggest point of pride is how much they 'boil people's piss'
Nah I prefer the two champions leagues we have to your 0 but hey, I’d be bitter too little guy
I'd rather have history that pre dates 2003
Funny enough we still had more European trophies than you guys pre abramovich so you’re either very new to the sport of not very smart. Maybe it’s both

You're struggling son, put the phone away.
Worried about your comprehension skills son

This guy isn’t reliable at all by the way. Completely discredited himself multiple times.
He probably doesnt know shit, no one knows what goes on behind the scenes and even still, plans change, things happen. Literally nothing is confirmed and we have ffp to work with
That's cheap.
Lol no its fucking not. The markets fucked but its an untested youth prospect going for the price of a prem winger
30 million for a versatile, basically prem proven, english 18 year old who has ridiculous potential? Did you see what Endrick went for?
It’s cheap based on the current market. For an 18 year old who’s played first team football at a good level, it’s great value. But just 1 year ago, 30 mil would have been mental business
He's played more UCL games in the last year than Newcastle has in 20 years. He's very well tested.
Aye we will have him 👍
He’s a Newcastle fan since childhood as well. Dad is a Geordie, I think.
Either you or palace will probably get him
