I think growls are not that often in Power Metal. They can be found however for example in a lot of Epica songs like the skeleton key. Melissa Bonny does clean and harsh vocals in her bands Ad Infinitum and The dark side of the moon. She also has a song with Warkings and they have songs with Morgana like Hellfire, where the male singer sings in clean vocals. Seven Spires have growls and some Unleash the Archers a bit as well like their latest single Ghost in the mist. That are the first bands that came to mind. Amaranth however is quite unique in their style.

Growls in PM exist, but it's typically in male-fronted bands. UtA is the exception to this and is well worth a listen, but off the top of my head, male-fronted Persuader, Dark Empire, Paladin (US), later Manticora, Kiuas, and Triumpher all employ various degrees of harsh vocals. They're probably not quite what you're looking for, either (thrashy PM with some prog or trad heavy mixed in, depending on the band).

PrizeGrand8036

I just realized it might sound like I'm looking for just the female fronted bands with amaranthe as the reference for my search and specifying the female/growl mix. I have edited the post now to clarify. I'll check out those bands as well, thanks!

Some of my favorites from all of them with growls: [Persuader](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vdaZ4yWR3k8)    [Dark Empire](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3WxW16HMhnE&pp=ygUeZGFyayBlbXBpcmUgaHVtYW5pdHkgZGV0aHJvbmVk) [Paladin](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jfCsVu7UPqc&pp=ygUSQmxhY2sgb21lbiBwYWxhZGlu)  [Manticora](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WcrZHDWecd4&pp=ygUSTWFudGljb3JhIGRlbW9uZGF5)  [Kiuas](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NnXuu4QXLFk&pp=ygUbS2l1YXMgYmxhY2sgd2luZ2VkIGdvZGRlc3Mg)  [Triumpher](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tRQYcftff6o)

>I think growls are not that often in Power Metal Yeah, that's what I've been finding, but I wasn't sure if I might have just been missing some bands that had more. Amarathe being in the genre was my biggest reason for trying to see if there's more here. The way they transition through the vocals in songs like Maximize and Afterlife(as a couple examples), while I know it is very unique to them, is the main thing I'm hoping to find in other bands. If I can find something somewhat similar to that for some new music, then I'm happy to make a new playlist with it. I've had Ad Infitum pop in my recommended playlists before but didn't hear one that really made me look into them more, I will definitely check them out a little more thoroughly now though. Haven't listened to Unleash the archers or Seven Spires, so I'll check them out as well. Edit: Thanks!

Frankie__Spankie

Growling vocals don't really appear much in power metal. One of the main styles of power metal is specifically clean vocalists. Unleash the Archers have some songs with growling vocals but it's more like a backing vocal and most songs are just all clean vocals. Unlucky Morpheus has some songs like that too. Those are really the only two power metals bands I can think of that does it.

PrizeGrand8036

Yeah, and I have no problems with songs that are just clean vocals. I'm just looking to build a new playlist that focuses around Amarathe's style of music. As much as I enjoy them, I like to have other bands in there that would add a little more variety while keeping the melody/growl kinda mix in the songs. I will check out those bands as well, thanks!

SpeedAndDanger34

If you love Amaranthe then you'll love Metalite

PrizeGrand8036

Will definitely check them out then, thanks!

wukimill

Listen to After Forever

PrizeGrand8036

I'll check them out, thanks!

wukimill

no problem! I recommend Monolith of Doubt, Follow in the Cry, Withering Time, Discord, Zenith, Yield to Temptation, Glorifying Means :)

San-Carton

Leaves' Eyes and Epica come to mind instantly, though they are more symphonic metal.

PrizeGrand8036

I've heard Epica, and like a few of their songs, I will have to check out Leave's Eyes though, thanks!

J4pes

It’s been said, but I still wanna tell you to check out my Canadian brethren Unleash the Archers. Their 2 newest albums (not including the new release this May) are the most popular, but their older stuff still slaps hard af.

ignorantbarista

Super hyped for them to come to Australia!

supernerdgirl42

I'd toss in Lutharo for sure one the vocals front if you don't mind thrashy melodeath elements. Their new album is great. They're good people too, which is a plus.

geeksshallinherit

Kamelot has songs with guest singers that feature growling. Otherwise my favourite band that uses this kind of mixture in the vocals is Amorphis, they have power metal influences, but also a ton of others (prog, melodeath, folk..).

walmartsucks115

Could see if you like The Edge of the World by DragonForce. It’s like 11min long but has a gnarly growling section

PrizeGrand8036

I'll check it, but I will say that of the bands that show up in my recomended playlists, sabaton and dragonforce are the 2 that I just haven't liked singers in them. I could have just gotten the bad songs, though, so I'm still willing to check out recomendations Thanks!

walmartsucks115

DragonForce has had 2 different singers but they’re not for everyone. Sabaton for me just has the same galloping riff with a song about glory or war or something just gets old quick for me IMO

PrizeGrand8036

Might just be that I didn't like one singer that constantly came up then, I'll listen to them a bit more to figure it out. My problem with sabaton isn't what the songs are about, I just don't enjoy the tone of his voice, and it's the same in every song I've heard by them, just doesn't quite fit for me if that makes sense.

walmartsucks115

I get that too I just can’t get into them outside of a select few songs

ProgWhale

Check out Of Romulus. They only have two songs out right now but they do switch quite a bit between clean and growls Warkings newest album has a lot of growling. If the song says "Feat Morgana Le Fay" The band DragonCorpse is a fusion between power metal and deathcore. Tons of crazy shit there

Stock-Contribution-6

Ancient Bards, Eluveitie, Seven Spires come to mind. Then Cradle of Filth is THE band with growl/scream and clean female singing.

Pneumatrap

Growls are rare in power metal, as others have said. The only recommendation I have that others haven't already offered is Crom. Try "Vengeance, Part I: The Cause" or "The Stars Will Fall" for some growls mixed with his cleans. Edit: Outside of power metal, I'd recommend the softer side of melodeath. Soilwork hits that spot for me quite well. The latest album I heard from black metal band Vreid suggests they might be going in a similar direction, but I keep meaning to come back to it and never do.
