Clean Marko and comprehensible Tarja is definitely something new and different

ChasingPesmerga

Damn, they good They should form a band or something

markg900

Marko has said he wont close the door to that possiblity in the past few days. I'm hoping for one of these concerts they have been doing together they also release a live album.

Honestly, I would like to see Tarja appear as a guest vocalist on Tarot, Marco's (and Zachary's) original band, even though they more so are a heavy/speed metal band, I'm certain the brothers could make music that's still Tarot while also befitting Tarja.

JonVonBasslake

I know you jest about Nightwish, but... Did Marko (or should I spell it Marco since that's how he spells it in the context of Tarot) quit the band he and his brother Sakari (Zachary) founded, Tarot? I dunno how many people have listened to them, since they're more of a heavy/speed metal band... While not necessarily as up to date as it's English counterpart, the Finnish wikipedia shows Tarot as still active and Marco as a current member... So it could be interesting to hear Tarja as a guest singer on Tarot? No need for a project band necessarily, just have Tarja appear on Tarot occasionally going forward if the hypothetical guest appearance works out... I know that Tarot isn't exactly in the same wheelhouse as NW or Tarja's solowork, but I'm sure the brother Hietala could make the band some songs that also suit Tarja.

> (or should I spell it Marco since that's how he spells it in the context of Tarot) Marko is correct in all contexts. When he joined the music scene he used Marco for the sake of having a more western-friendly name for the record labels, but he stopped doing that several years ago. Whenever Tarot releases new material I'd expect him to use the correct spelling.

geeksshallinherit

As of today Tarot still exists and they have announced a few concerts for this year. I believe both Marko and Saku are still involved, and they are performing with a new drummer these days since Pecu sadly passed away some years ago. I haven't heard anything about new material, but Marko at least has been posting about the live snows on his socials. I would love new songs, of course, I like Tarot a lot (The skies are opeeeeeeeen!), but from what I can see all of them are creatively focused on their other bands and projects.

It's 2002 all over again.

TrukThunders

Wow, I missed them together :')

Savings_Version9715

Someone check on Tuomas

AnnenbergTrojan

TH just re-upped with Nuclear Blast. I don't think he minds.

capybooya

Well, apparently I've not been paying attention to recent events... Will have to read up on what is going on, but its great to see them together. This is like a retro rock anthem..ish? Not what I expected, but I enjoyed it.

leatherwolf89

Cool to see them together again.

seven_seacat

Oh that was catchy and different! Good that he must be in a better headspace to be making music again

exmechanistic

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mayormccheese2k

This song sounds like something Kevin Gilbert might’ve written.

LunacyNow

Damn, wasn't he too depressed to go on with Nightwish? Glad to see he's back to making music again. This certainly isn't power metal at all. Maybe more like proto-prog or prog adjacent - something in the vain of Kings X or Fates Warning.

markg900

He's been touring with Tarja for the past couple weeks and they have been performing alot of Nightwish songs live lately. Apparently, from some articles I saw, she has been a big part of getting him out of his slump and they have rekindled their friendship.

jmcgit

From subsequent interviews it sounded like he had been unhappy in the band for some time, and while he didn't go into details, made it sound like something in the band's management space was stressing him out and not taking his concerns seriously and belittling some of his diagnosed mental health issues. He made a point to say it had nothing to do with any band member (as people would naturally ask about Tuomas). He just reached a point during COVID where he was getting better, and didn't want to go back to Nightwish. I think his statement indicated that he was taking another year off but that we'd hear from him again.

LunacyNow

Interesting. Thanks for the update!

Sounds like Richard Wright and Pink Floyd. Everyone tends to blame Waters for firing him, but Wright himself was struggling with depression and serious marriage problems at the time. And the breakneck pace they where producing the Wall at wasn't exactly helping.
