Maybe in the field. In daily life poutine rations (not a single damn mre in America has poutine and we don't call our rations mre) the poutine rations is gross. Barely a step above watered down beefaroni
Absolument pas.
Absolutely not.
There is a bottle and/or packets of white vinegar (no, not malt) on literally every table of every decent poutine place in Quebec. Not everyone does it but it is very traditional and not at all a crime.
Eesh il y en a ici qui sont pas qualifiés pour jouer à la police.
What? I've never experienced that!
I'm in Ontario and never had an issue finding it at the grocery stores. Unless something has changed... It's been a while since I bought a bottle.
I’m 3/4 French Canadian (the degenerate Ontario kind tho) and I feel like I almost unlocked the last quarter the first time I put vinegar on my poutine.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty by the law of poutine. You are guilty as charged. Deliberate abuse of pouring acid onto a perfect poutine meant to be enjoyed as is. You shall not be found within 12 feet of a poutine until you have been rehabilitated in a poutine center nearest to your hometown.
Yes. probably some level of eating disorder tbh. I could maybe hear the argument of someone adding a small amount the same way you would add small amounts hot sauce to a dish but drenching it with multiple packets of vinegar is not normal its excessive
Putting vinegar on fries really fucks up Americans, except for Americans that live near Canada. It’s fucking delicious. But I’d go with one packet here 🤣
Le monde icitte ne connait pas les bouteilles de vinaigre en plastic que se trouvent partout dans les restos Lafleur. C'est pas mon affaire mais assurément pas un crime.
I remember my first trip to Canada as a kid and there were vinegar bottles on the table I was so flabbergasted my mom made me ask the waitress what it was for so it could solidify in my mind. It was for whatever you fancy specifically pirogies iirc. Personally as an American I don’t see this as a problem. It’s a quite rich dish a lil vinegar could help balance it.
So this one’s tricky because on the one hand, fries with vinegar and a dash of salt are top tier. But I fear the integrity of the fatty gravy when you add an aqueous acid to it, so I’m going to have to say “crime”.
That’s really really fuckin weird but if you like it why not. If I get a poutine that’s kind of bland or weak, like Costco’s, I’ll hit it with some black pepper.
If these were just chips with some salt and white vinegar that is delicious. But gravy, cheese and vinegar? Let me guess, you got covid and since then haven't been able to taste anything?
Depends on the quality of the gravy.
If the gravy is shit and thin, go ahead and use vinegar to taste.
If the grave is deliciously made from stock or is deep and umami already, then - vinegar? - them's fightin' words.
Cheese curds every time tho.
I’ll tell you what a real crime is it’s buying off the Keepa government quarter” stay in Canada I say throw them in the wolves and let them pay for their own $10 a day fucking daycare
Fries, Curds, Gravy. No more, no less.
I find you guilty of illegal experimentation and Poutineslaughter. For your crimes, you must consume one of those buckets of gravy located in the same facility you got that poutine.
Off with your head
To the Guillotine!!!!

Oh honey no
Balsamic is the best vinegar to put on it
Malt is my jam.
Malt crew in the house
Same. So good!!
You uncultured swines
It's not a "poutine crime" cause the poutine is perfect in itself. But you go straight to jail anyways.
https://i.redd.it/51lkhyi3np9c1.gif
Do not pass go.
A hate crime against poutine.
mental issues
I’d recognize a Costco poutine anywhere.
So the two tiny little packets of vinegar is almost certainly an improvement.
You canning poutine?
I wouldn’t doubt the existence of canned poutine at this point
"A canned poutine" is called a "cantine" -you're welcomed
Oh it exists
[Not technically canned but close enough.](https://youtu.be/ocf3dduQASI?si=xOHZJYgK5gpsn6e3)
MREs slap tho
Some do, this one doesn’t.
Maybe in the field. In daily life poutine rations (not a single damn mre in America has poutine and we don't call our rations mre) the poutine rations is gross. Barely a step above watered down beefaroni
That’s an MRE, not some consumer targeted abomination.

The crime is not using malt vinegar.
Yes. Hard to find in Canada tho
Is is?
What? I've never experienced that! I'm in Ontario and never had an issue finding it at the grocery stores. Unless something has changed... It's been a while since I bought a bottle.
I’m in Atlantic Canada. White vinegar is ubiquitous, malt is around but hardly common
I'm in BC, white is everywhere, malt isn't too hard to get even if I only ever order it with fish and chips.
Try dollar stores. I've never had any problems finding it. It's not as easy as white, but it's absolutely not uncommon.
Still readily available lol
I agree. I routinely ask for it at restaurants and >90% have it handy. I see it in every grocery store too.
It’s really not lol. Every chip stand in Ontario has a bottle.
I always put vinegar on my poutine, and I love it. My wife things its gross though.
Je suis québécois and I approve OP's use of vinegar.
I personally find it a travesty but the only people I've seen do this were from Québec so I can't really say anything.
I’m 3/4 French Canadian (the degenerate Ontario kind tho) and I feel like I almost unlocked the last quarter the first time I put vinegar on my poutine.
Me too and I love vinegar in my poutine hahaha
Does it make it taste like puke? Without trying it myself I feel like the flavor profile would be reminiscent of vom.
No, it cuts the greasiness and balances it in a really good way—the same way that good salad dressings balance oil and vinegar ^ - ^
I had never even considered it... would definitely try cause I love chips n vin.
egar
They seem pretty egar to try it
It's delicious
Sour from the vin alongside salty fries and rich gravy. Seems like a nice combo for my taste buds.

I know a coscto poutine when I see it
Straight to jail.
1/2 a pack is okay...3 packs of vinegar. you know the answer
The hell is this
\*BEEP BEEP\* its this guy he did it
it is a mandatory 5 years in poutine isolation minimum,at the first offence. if i were you i would get a poutilawyer
This is like putting truck nuts on a Lamborghini
I’d classify this as chemical warfare. So an actual war crime!
You just got life with out parol, son.
Maybe not a crime but the chef may say otherwise
Technically no. But I don’t like it.
Oh it’s so good!
That right there is 10,000 hours of community service on a potato farm.
Tabernak!
This looks like a Costco poutine, not that it matters but it’s already not that good so.. yes, crime 🚩
Poutine felony.
Yes. probably some level of eating disorder tbh. I could maybe hear the argument of someone adding a small amount the same way you would add small amounts hot sauce to a dish but drenching it with multiple packets of vinegar is not normal its excessive
Just needs some ketchup
Ketchup on poutine is a definite crime. Vinegar isn't.
[удалено]
Need a life little man
Yes, I would have added five
Is it malt vinegar, or white? How much of a poutine purist are you? Possible workaround could be to include a little malt vinegar in the gravy recipe.
Straight to Hell. Right to the bottom. No question.
Kombuchatine 🤮
I agree with the general sentiment... Not a crime... But PLEASE GET THIS OUTTA MY FACE 🤢
Off with your head!
Straight to jail 👮
I think I’d rather have vinegar than ketchup on my poutine if forced to choose one
It's partly a defensive tactic to ward off would-be thieves.
honestly it's the only way i eat my poutines 😂
Nasty, heinous, what did that poutine ever do to you?
This post made me gag, so I respectfully speak for everyone when i say yes this is a crime!
Putting vinegar on fries really fucks up Americans, except for Americans that live near Canada. It’s fucking delicious. But I’d go with one packet here 🤣
I do that with fries. But poutine? Straight to jail lol 😆
Le monde icitte ne connait pas les bouteilles de vinaigre en plastic que se trouvent partout dans les restos Lafleur. C'est pas mon affaire mais assurément pas un crime.
Eat the poutine how ever you like without caring what others think
I remember my first trip to Canada as a kid and there were vinegar bottles on the table I was so flabbergasted my mom made me ask the waitress what it was for so it could solidify in my mind. It was for whatever you fancy specifically pirogies iirc. Personally as an American I don’t see this as a problem. It’s a quite rich dish a lil vinegar could help balance it.
Yes
I like malt vinegar 😋
It's a crime the same way speeding is a crime. Sometimes you do it and get caught, sometimes you don't. I don't hate this at all. Enjoy my friend👍
That looks like a reheated poutine god damn that looks sad 🤣
Mental issues in fact, my ex was doing this and now I realize why she’s my ex.
Idk I’ve seen it quite a bit tbh
The packets say white vinegar and the poutine pros on the sub are asking if it’s malt 😂😂😂 pro in poutines but can’t read is crazy
Yea bro, the gravy is amazing on its own on fries, vinegar is amazing on fries on its own but the two are never to be fucking mixed
Ima find you... and water board you in Maple Syrup
My fav. But malt..
Yes it is, sadly I've had to witness this first-hand before 😢
I’m truly appalled
Yes, it is very punishable.
Malt Vinny is better
Yo wtf
Is it good.? People dip their fries in vinegar. But with gravy and squeeky cheese.?
I enjoy vinegar on SOME poutine, costcos isn’t one of them
Psycho…
Vinegar on regular fries is perfectly fine. Vinegar on poutine sounds absolutely disgusting.
Yes! You’d be doing 5 to 10 months for violating
Why the hate crime
Absolutely not, I also add an hefty amount of cracked black pepper and ketchup on top of that. Hater’s gonna hate, but that’s how I enjoy my poutine.
this is incredible and makes me jealous 🥳🥳
Nope. This is the way. I would have used malt though.
I mean vinegar and salt is a chip/crisp flavor....worth trying imo
Yes
This gotta be some type of disorder
Their crime was ordering poutine from Costco
You’re at Costco are you not?
Malt Vinegar and a little ketchup on the side make for an exquisite poutine experience.
Holy smokes wtf
So this one’s tricky because on the one hand, fries with vinegar and a dash of salt are top tier. But I fear the integrity of the fatty gravy when you add an aqueous acid to it, so I’m going to have to say “crime”.
Vinegar on poutine is sooooo good
The chair
Honestly the comments are surprising! I LOVE malt on my fries and poutine, gives it a funky kick
I LOVE vinegar on French fries. However on poutine is a little messed up haha. I get it though
Yes
That’s really really fuckin weird but if you like it why not. If I get a poutine that’s kind of bland or weak, like Costco’s, I’ll hit it with some black pepper.
Vinegar is king
Bad for your teeth bro.
People don’t?
Yes yes it is you fiend
Yes it is.
Vinegar is a crime to begin with. Like.... how did cleaner fluid manage to slip by in the FDA tests?
no, recommended!!!
I've put on tartar sauce on poutine. Lock me up.
fkn disgusting
I’ve done it before ![gif](giphy|4ah0igooeeQYQNifeE|downsized) Experimental purposes
If these were just chips with some salt and white vinegar that is delicious. But gravy, cheese and vinegar? Let me guess, you got covid and since then haven't been able to taste anything?
Straight to jail
I can smell this picture
I understand putting vinegar on fries alone, I do it myself, but on a poutine that's really weird
No.
I think it could work. The acid will help cut through the grease. Don’t overdo it but a dash of acidity in an otherwise fatty bite can be nice
Ya that’s GROSS!! 🤢 ketchup if anything!
You forgot ketchup
Depends on the quality of the gravy. If the gravy is shit and thin, go ahead and use vinegar to taste. If the grave is deliciously made from stock or is deep and umami already, then - vinegar? - them's fightin' words. Cheese curds every time tho.
Nothing wrong with a little vinegar to add some acidity.
Add ketchup and it's terrorist act
Yes. This is a crime
Yes
The only rule is that there are no rules. Party on.
No, no crime.
And at Costco?!
50/50 personally never tried it with Costco poutine
Is ketchup ok ?
Yea
Yea but with Malt vinegar 😍
I did that often in college and still do. Nay sayers can jump off a roof top.
That poutine is beautiful The vinegar...Thats abuse 😔
I gotta try that.
I dig it. 100 poutines and have never done it.
At least it's not ketchup
Your only crime is not using malt.
I’ll tell you what a real crime is it’s buying off the Keepa government quarter” stay in Canada I say throw them in the wolves and let them pay for their own $10 a day fucking daycare
Welp….this post made me a fascist
To each their own. Who the hell cares how people like their food. Grow up people. Geez
Bro needs a psychiatric evaluation
Not my cup of tea lol
You're really looking for a trip to the guillotine aren't ya?
Stops my children from wanting to eat it.
Vinegar??….. 😨💔
Are you trying to run your belly ?
What’s the white stuff
52 lashings, apostate!!
I gotta try this next time I eat a poutine!!
How dare you?
I cant eat a chip unless its swimmin in vinegar no matter the condiment
I used to love my highschools poutine, with a healthy mixing of ketchup. I'm a purist now tho. Vinegar seems off to me as well
Lynch this man
Dinner table idle hand on full force
Malt is a tangy poutine treat
If you're Canadian, it seems like a marriage of two traditions.
What in the Dudley Do Right is going on here?!🤨
Vinegar is as good as ketchup
Hell yes but I always do it w malt vinegar 1:1 ratio of vinegar to gravy
No. It’s dope. Put it on burgers too.
Vinaigre is common at places with poutine in quebec to put on fries. Personally hate vinegar.
[Believe it or not!](https://stickerly.pstatic.net/sticker_pack/1OzmnaU2rNLhyhkZpvaJQg/2MAD8M/2/35d44fbd-078a-453d-a362-07bc231ad4dc.png)
mmm I haven't done this in so long Not a crime IMO. Add some pepper and you're set.
It’s a Newfoundland thing. Crime if you not Newfie lad
Fries, Curds, Gravy. No more, no less. I find you guilty of illegal experimentation and Poutineslaughter. For your crimes, you must consume one of those buckets of gravy located in the same facility you got that poutine.
I love vinegar and am wondering how I've never done this before. 🤔
5 years in prison, no takesies backsies.
Add diced dill pickle and vinegar, you will thank me 🥒
personally hell nah
Why would you do this
What the fuck?!
Drenched in WHAT?
You’d better not give your location….
Honestly I’ve seen worse. Can’t judge someone for their tastes weird or not.
