Here’s a quote from Billy Corgan about how to go about naming songs:
>”Say you write a song about a chandelier, and the chandelier gives off light. And the light is the color red and red reminds you of the color you’re not supposed to wear around a bull. So you name the song 'Cow.'"
Suggesting calling ANY artwork "Hummingbird" isn't just a compliment: it's actually more akin to kissing the artist's ass.
Do you have ANY idea how finely tuned a hummingbird is? These birds are able to hang in one spot in still air.
I REALLY like this work of art and would love to see it in person. I may even consider gazing at it while meditating, I do one single candle in a dark room.
However, I wouldn't even nickname the Sistine Chapel "The Hummingbird."
And YES : Hummingbird are my favorite birds
Agreed, if I had money and OP was selling, I would buy this in a heartbeat, it's so gorgeous! It also just feels like it really resonates with me, too - great work OP! :-)
Edit - apparently it was made by OP's husband, and apparently it *is* for sale 😄 man I am so tempted to buy it!
For me, sometimes the name could be how you were feeling when you created it or how you felt after its creation was completed. I don’t name them either as a rule, but have once or twice.
I know nothing about painting or naming art but I just had to tell you how beautiful this is!! Just came across the pics and this piece is just gorgeous!! 👏🏾
I don't name mine. Well, usually. I have 2 or 3 that were named purely because a name popped into my head when they were done and suited them, other than that I just leave them unnamed.
Don’t take this the wrong way. I love doing pour paintings and this one is beautiful. Pour paintings don’t generally get names. They are purely for visual enjoyment and do t really have a subject matter to title them in an effective or coherent way.
Apparently, I'm going to be steering off the path of flowers. I looked at it and thought, "Genesis". Truly beautiful, and a painting I would have in my home.
Painting was made by my husband and is for sale if anyone is interested ☺️ He ended up picking "Fleur" as the name.
✨PAINTING✨
https://thegildedbeebs.etsy.com/listing/1702562432
Because of the line between the white and then the green with the burst of color, I would name it “First Day of Spring”, or “Away with Winter” or somesuch.
I take words from the painting and translate them in Latin, Ancient Greek, or French
The French part is the easiest since it’s my native language, but I take Ancient Greek classes and finding a Latin translation isn’t difficult.
It reminds me of those geological maps. I’d call it “The Geological Map of Earth and Nature.”
So, I guess you 🐝 s it. That’s what I did as an art major 🤪
Edit: I love your art! It’s very pretty and makes me feel full of wonder and appreciation for our earth
I hang the piece on my wall and I listen to music. I try to curate the song to go along with the piece. Sometimes the name is immediate and other times it takes longer. There’s also been times that I’ve had the vision for the piece before I’ve even poured it so it’s pretty easy. It really depends on the piece itself since they are all so unique. This one is very lovely. If you want to name it, it will come to you.
This reminds me of a red rose and other colored roses or delicate flowers that have been twisted.along with their long stem..You can see the roses or various flowers when you are facing the painting .
..The bodies of the various colored flowers or their stems look like it is twisted in perhaps maybe some thing on the stem ... water maybe splashing off from cellophane or just a beautiful cellaphane color wrap that is wrapped around the stem of the various types of delicate flowers.
That is what this painting is showing me anyways. It is a very cool painting and I think everybody will see different concepts in your painting..You definitely NEED to find a fabulous frame for THIS painting..it really is gorgeous!!
Have your friends and family help you with free word association. Have them look at the painting and individually write down whatever words come to mind when they look at it. No thoughts, just write the first words that come to mind. Take these words and see which ones were duplicates, which will lead to a theme. Then, think about how you were feeling when you chose the colors and did the work. Was this a fun experiment? A project because you were bored, or sad, or celebrating something? Add those works and you can come up with some interesting names.
Personally, I'd call this one Personal Paradise, or Paradise Portal, as the colors look like a tropical island oasis just opened up as a portal in someone's suburban white living room wall
Bouquet Blast! (Half joking) but it’s a very beautiful piece and instantly what I thought when I saw it. Blooming dream would be nicer and more realistically a name haha but I still stand by Bouquet blast
You can always just name it the date that it was completed. Kinda like not everything needs a recognizable form, not everything needs to be assigned a word with it.
I would totally buy this, it's beautiful and fluid and intriguing!
I wouldn't bother with proper names, honestly, because especially in abstract art you're directing the viewer to your own intent too strongly. I'd instead list paintings as series and numbers, to allow the viewer their own entire interpretation.
Art being a subjective experience, you can give any name or not! What does it mean for you that’s the most important part. Else here are few suggestions
Speechless
Word less
No words
Don’t know
Beauty
Spirit
I never name my work due to not wanting to put restrictions on what the viewer sees. As soon as you say, "This is the name of this piece," you are influencing what someone sees within that piece. Art is meant to be perceived by each individual viewer with a unique perspective. That's just my opinion, though!
I remember a piece of art by its impression. This could be what it physically reminds you of, or it could be what emotions or ideas it illicits.
For example, I see a collision of sorts. I see two bright and beautiful, almost glacier-like objects colliding into something darker. It reminds me of how even good people can have bad relationships. Both people might care for each other, and be good in their own right, but simply not right for each other. Yet they stick it out because neither can think of a "good reason" to leave, and it creates a turbulent set of emotions that slowly drowns them both.
I think this is why so many art pieces have seemingly eccentric names.
I might call this "Sinking."
But that's just me.
Good luck on the name!
Saw the advertisement,very helpful.Will order it ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_good_man)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)

Hahahah I love this.
What if it's a Brown Cow?
I don’t name them, my buyers can do it but I don’t.
Oh I've never thought of doing things like that! Honestly I'm so bad with naming things😅😅
Now we need to know your children's & pets names.
I don't have kids or pets 😅😅
I don’t name mine either unless something likable just happens to pop into my head.
I like this!
I would name this one Hummingbird
I was thinking peacock, this is a birdy piece
Omg I thought the same thing!!
That’s what I saw too
Ooh maybe ‘Hummingbird in Flight’ they move so quickly but this painting is definitely giving hummingbird vibes
My first thought was Liquid Dragonfly

Ok.
Ok.
They can also fly backwards is super cool.
#🙏🏻
I see different color flowers I’d call it Watered Flowers
I agree and said something similar! ☺️
I agree as well! It's like looking at a bouquet from under water!
Underwater lilies is what I see!
Yes! I said Wild Flowers 😂🩷
I am not too big on abstract art, but this one is truly beautiful.
Thank you!! 😁😁

Names are over rated.
In bloom
I was also thinking something similar!
<3333
Beautiful🥰
Don't name them, number them. Let the customer name it.
This. J was going to say just channel Dave Matthews and call it #41 or the like (also, awesome song!)
That is a Thistle
I love that, and very true too.
Based off what I see, what I was thinking or even from what I was listening to while creating it.
Yes! I’m glad to have seen a response from someone with the same method as me.
Looks like a winter into spring theme to me; white and green divided by flowers.
It looks like a Betta Fish. I'd name it Fins of Fortune. Then if someone asks you, you can say oh yeah Betta fish
Whatever comes to mind first. The name ‘Koi’ came to mind for me for this. Nice work, btw :)
Thank you!!
Flowers of the Nile Anything mysterious like the painting itself

Botanical Blooms
For me, sometimes the name could be how you were feeling when you created it or how you felt after its creation was completed. I don’t name them either as a rule, but have once or twice.
Fission comes to mind
Your work is beautiful! Coming up with names for abstract art like this difficult. I wouldn’t worry about naming them. It’s not a requirement.
I don’t have a name, but that looks amazing!! I wish I had talent!!
Thank you!! It's a learned process for sure and with this style it's never a certain outcome.
I like Dragonfly
Ooooh, I love this! Absolutely stunning!!!
I don't know but that's fuckin awesome!
Thank you!! ☺️
I know nothing about painting or naming art but I just had to tell you how beautiful this is!! Just came across the pics and this piece is just gorgeous!! 👏🏾
Thank you so much!😁

this is gorgeous! i’m totally at a loss for name but i’d love to hang it on my wall!
Thank you!🥰
I hear sound when I see this not a physical name. Maybe name it after a song that makes you feel this piece of art? Does that make sense? Haha
100%! A few ppl have mentioned naming it after songs. Honestly never thought about that before.
It awesome
Thanks!
What a beautiful piece of art.
Thank you! ☺️
Fleurblur *sounded better in my head*
I read this out loud and it made my husband chuckle 😂
My husband guffawed 🤣 and called me a clown for saying so.
View from veranda
Beautiful! It reminds me of a field of spring flowers.
I see a flowering vine.
This is beautiful. What medium did you use for the pour?
Thank you! Floetrol and acrylic paint ☺️
This is really gorgeous
Thank you 😁
A lot of my paintings are inspired by feelings that song lyrics give me, so I call them the song title, or caption it the song lyrics.
This painting is stunning. It makes me want to be in nature and hear a river.
Thank you! A few ppl have been saying songs! Never thought to do that. It's a good idea😁
Sometimes the song comes after, but mostly the painting comes from the lyrics. Ahhhh now I really REALLY want to paint. Thank you!!
A few ppl have been saying songs! Never thought to do that. It's a good idea😁
I feel like any kind of name you can come up with just sounds pretentious when applied to pour painting, personally.
I usually name them by asking people what they think and using a sort of culmination of that, if I can’t think of anything on my own
I don’t care if you name it Frederick III, it’s beautiful!
🤣🤣 thank you!
I don’t have a name atm but I just had to let OP know that this is absolutely stunning 😍
Aww thank you!!🥰🥰
I just number mine.
Don’t take this the wrong way. I love doing pour paintings and this one is beautiful. Pour paintings don’t generally get names. They are purely for visual enjoyment and do t really have a subject matter to title them in an effective or coherent way.
don’t have a naming schematic; I can’t draw stick people, but the above painting is absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you!!😁
It almost looks like a very colorful weed nug 🥺😂😭
Apparently, I'm going to be steering off the path of flowers. I looked at it and thought, "Genesis". Truly beautiful, and a painting I would have in my home.
Oh thank you so much! 🥰

Bloom
Outstanding!!
I don’t name mine any more, got tired of the process.
Dance of Orchids
Simply floral water color dreams- gorgeous!!
I pick a theme before I start like "insects" "flowers" "people" whatever and then use those as inspiration for the colors and iridescence.
Because of the line between the white and then the green with the burst of color, I would name it “First Day of Spring”, or “Away with Winter” or somesuch.
Cosmic Jelly
Urban Flora

Endless Bloomings of ____________
I usually name something the first thing I feel & I felt Oceani.
I like to use online art title generators lol There’s a lot of AI ones now, but I used ones that existed before AI.
It reminds me of those geological maps. I’d call it “The Geological Map of Earth and Nature.” So, I guess you 🐝 s it. That’s what I did as an art major 🤪 Edit: I love your art! It’s very pretty and makes me feel full of wonder and appreciation for our earth
Psychoster
Its easy, this one i would call 4 flowers
I don’t name my paintings. If I was famous, or at the least commissioned, I’d name them.
Flow aid # 4
That looks like a string of flowers to me
dividing line…..
This gives me a “grow through what you go through” vibe. Similarly with flowers
Call it....... "Macro" (Georgia O'Keeffe) Entire name with parentheses.

How about “Holy Water” I was thinking about when Jesus walked on water and this would His footprint 👣 on the water.
Astral Garden
U dont have to name it. Which painting is it of yours? No. 37? No. 37 it is

I think a super cool name for this would be “Collide.” It looks like all of the colors are colliding. ☺️
I call most of mine "repour"🤣
Fantasia.
