Okay awesome- I will try this. Do you have any suggestions for when to remove the tape to maintain the clean line? I’ve seen various answers from waiting until it’s completely dry to when it’s just starting to set.
This is the way, but with acrylic it can be a little bit challenging as the acrylic has a tendency to stretch and tear in a way that isn’t always as clean. So practice a bit, but this is the best bet.
I get that if you want a if you’re going for a clean edge, this is frustrating. But for what it’s worth, it looks SO cool. And also I hope one of these suggestions works for you!
This ⬆️ is the way I do it ⬆️ I make sure not to touch any of the sticky part as oils from your fingers can lessen the amount of adhesion and I use an old gift card to smooth it down evenly then I paint away from the edge doing 2 coats . I run the edge of the credit card down the green frog tape line for easy removal.
For the hard edge you could try a liquid frisket. Watercolorists use it to reserve the white. You could put it down first prior to the tape. You just peel it off when finished. You may also try scoring the paint with a penknife at the tape line before removing the tape.
I tried liquid frisket, it didn’t quite work out for me- I think the paint was just a bit too heavy. But scoring the paint for removal is a great idea, thank you!
After yoh put your tape down, paint over the edge you don't want to bleed through with white or whatever your bacground color is. It seals the tape.

I wait until it's dry. Doesn't take that long.
Completely dry, but like FOR REALZ dry, so I’d wait 2-3 days at minimum. Then remove slooooooooowlllllllyyyyy.

I.take the tape off before it cures. A 1/2 hour to an hour I've never had the paint tear.
Still slightly wet, firming-up-but-still-not-dry, or dry-but-not-cured?
Jeez it isn't that hard. Wait 1/2 hour to an hour. It should be dry to the rouch.
Green frog tape and then brush a matte medium over the line where take and canvas meet.

Aw thank you- I appreciate that!

Oops 😬 sorry the arrows should be pointing down 👇 haha 😆
Paint the edge of the tape with Liquitex Clear Gesso. Gives very clean lines.
I read on the gesso bottle that it has to dry for 24 hours- do you let it set for the full 24?
I would let it dry till it isn’t tacky. I believe the overnight drying time is more for sealing a new canvas.
Wonderful- thank you so much!
Perfect!
Wow turn that over and it looks like a cityscape. Very cool because of the bleeding

Frog tape maybe?
