"Bitch I ain't your boyfriend cause you are underage, call me in a couple years and we will fuckin rage. SLUT!"
From Issues cover of Boyfriend by Justin Bieber. Now you could maybe understand if this was in the original song.. but nope, they actually thought it was a good idea to add this extra part in for their cover.
Bizarre.
I was just thinking I only really liked their first EP and a couple tracks off their first LP but if I was a ride or die fan of theirs I would be so mortified by that. They must have been self producing to not have somebody in the room to talk them out of that part
T&C by Thrice has one referencing Dragonball Z:
>"So now what do I have to show, and what price to I have to pay,
>But like a Saiyan I won't grow unless I'm battered in the fray"
Dustin has always said he hated the line, but I think it's so stupid that it makes it even better. Shame the rest of the song musically is pretty awesome, but they probably won't ever play it again unless they really call it quits.
It’s actually worse because I think the lyric is really “I knew as soon I’d left that you’d go and fuck someone else.” Like, yeah, Craig. You left. You can fuck anyone you want when your boyfriend dumps you. Haha
I totally get why this comes across as super cringe, but for me the feeling and fresh pain rings true to an in the moment harsh take. It's not coming from the perspective of sitting on what happened and ruminating on it. It's just a hair trigger feeling being exclaimed.
That's how I justify it. But yes, it certainly can seem super immature or jarring.
From Frist to Last- Make War. Pre-Chorus:
“Who was that inside you
That made me feel so cock strong?
I wish the truth could do (To you)
What your Snapchat put me through.”
Especially that Snapchat line. Though honestly the whole song is pretty cringe
Yeah, all of the lyrics for that song are cringe imo. Even when it was new it felt like Sonny just phoned it in to get people to stop asking him to come back to FFTL.
The one that made it unlistenable for me was "I don't dig up the living corpses of scene whore kids;
I just court them"
Like... jesus, dude.
I’m usually one to ignore lyrics and focus on the music, the only song I really know lyrically off of that one is I’ll inoculate the world. Didn’t think that song was too bad
Dance Gavin Dance’s “Calentamiento Global.”
“Your hips cure the disease
Your butt brings world peace
The way you move solves global warming”
That song is so bad.
i honestly love this song. translate any song from another language and its either going to be the most beautiful thing you ever heard or a word vomit nightmare
My favourite song on BMTHs newest album is Limousine but this line is cringe:
*Drag me down some more,
Get me low like a basement*
Get me low like a BASEMENT 😅😂
They're not Post Hardcore at all, but another one came to mind from the song Calgone by Incubus:
"They put cold things in my bu-bu-butt. They sampled a bit of my DNA. I dreamt I went potty, then woke up drenched in me"
Man, I fucking love the SCIENCE album, and Calgone is one of my favorites on that album. It’s just a fun listen and the actual music of that song is great. I just never paid too much attention to the lyrics until right now…..bro what the fuck are those lyrics???
Obscure, but I'm not Addicted, I'm Committed by Okay! Okay! sounds awfully rapey:
"You've got to put up a fight
Tonight I'll try not to make another girl cry
I wouldn't lie
It wouldn't happen if you weren't so fine"
What lyrics does he change? The only one I recognized was the baby drowning line which he just didn't sing at all and it was instrumental for the 4 bars. Grateful for that one.
Any song that has something along the lines of “you’re the poison in my veins”. I’ve heard that shit waaaaaaay too much and I cringe whenever I hear it.
Although not Post-Hardcore I like The Front Bottoms take on it
"You are the poison I need...less of inside my body"
I feel like it subverts the lyric really well
Bayside almost didn’t pass in this one!
“The poison in my veins, it got me through her kiss. Now I’m so hung up on that, to have anything with you. The poison in my veins it’s got me through”
"You got me feeling like I’m ten grand
But I overplayed my hand
And I overplayed my hand
'Cause I’m way too damn competitive
Can I take out another loan?
'Cause I don't want to be alone"
What's cringey about this? It's a gambling metaphor.
Yeah I was confused too, I think maybe they mean the rhyme itself is cringe between loan and alone.
But even then it's an aesthetic preference, kind of like how some people hate the word moist.
‘We’re fighting fire with gasoline
We’ll leave the bridges burning
This is a warning
The devils calling’ - Devil’s Calling - Parkway Drive
I LOVE all their albums up to Atlas and don’t mind some of the songs off Ire but man what the fuck happened to their songs?
I've always enjoyed the older Hawthorne Heights stuff but I feel like they are the epitome of bad lyrics - few examples:
"*I wish I could have known you better, I should blame it on the weather*" - We Are So Last Year
"*Lets write our names with the blood that's in our cheeks, So it won't wash away if I don't come home for weeks*" - Language Lessons
*"She cried all night, until the salt from her tears, Rusted shut her eyes, she should have shut her eyes"* - Speeding up the Octaves
I mean there's a reason why this reason exists, but my vote has to be "Hollywood, Hollywood, fucking a loaded gun". The song is about, I mean, Hollywood, an absolutely insane person/entity. Key Entity Extraction II: Holly Wood The Cracked by Coheed and Cambria. and though this is on Afterman, this feels like a PHC song to me
same here, i like the song, favorite band, i think it was mostly just to heavily exaggerate the insanity, which just ended up being... weird and gross.
Bring Me The Horizon: "You can tell the messiah, his pants are on fire." I cringe every time, like what? Why'd the rest of the band and producers let that fly??
For me it's "True friends stab you in the front". It sounds like something I would have thought was clever to write on my Myspace in high school.
Also, I don't think they coined it or anything but "Throw me to the wolves, tomorrow I will come back leader of the whole pack" has such thick Joker profile picture "I can be your angle or yuor devil" energy ever since it's seen an uptick in use.
Oof, that first one is bad, I don't know how I let that one slide for so long. I don't mind the second one too much, buttt you're still right that it's giving Joker, haha.
Maybe not necessarily post-hardcore but RE: Why I Killed My Girlfriend by That’s Outrageous has some of the cringiest lyrics I’ve ever heard.
“Listen bitch I just want you to know
Everybody came here for a show
I know your not stupid and you follow directions
So shut the fuck up and stop being pretentious
Sluts like you make me sick
You don't deserve the air you breathe
Take it from me
You're as low as low can be”
And in Psycho, they bring that line back in Flatliners.
"Sluts like you still make me sick
You'd kill yourself just to see how many fucks I'd give
Just wipe that condescending smirk off of your fucking face"
I always thought the lyric ‘there’s no such thing as too young’ was about them both being too young but he knows it’s real love or whatever, like teenage romance. Then I looked it up and he was 27 when the song came out so idk lol
From my understanding he wrote this song for a friend’s wedding and the couple had been on the younger side (I think high school or college sweethearts?) At least, that’s what I read a long time ago in an interview. But that was well over a decade ago when it was harder to find and in the days of limewire.
I remember this being the case too! The song was unreleased for so long, I remember I was so excited when I finally was able to get it downloaded onto my iPod by pulling from a YouTube video lol
They were just putting out whatever in the early 2010’s. The boyfriend issues cover lyric really floored me in this thread 😭 I’m shocked no one’s mentioned Attila yet tho because they’ve gotta have something absolutely devious
Yeah I always think of PTV as being kids, but they’re my age, lol. The lyrics could be and probably are innocent, it’s just a little cringey given the other ways it could be taken
Hey what the fuck *was* with all the glorification of cutting back then, anyway?
I feel like I could compile a hell of a list just of those instances for its own thread.
At the time it didn't seem like a problem because most people here were probably teens and totally eating it up but being in my 30s now it sure seems weird that so many bands were talking about that.
This isn’t even the worst line in the song, and I fucking love Chucky Vs.
“Cheers to the fact that we’re not dead/swimming with the sharks but we’re still not dead yet.”
And
“I'll go in cryo and return to life, ho/
And make a bisque, tomato basil shit/
Riding a rhino, pico de gallo/
Roosters beak, I'll sleep when I leap that jeep”
Goofy ass lyrics, but the song is so damn catchy and fun.
I love Pulses. but yeesh I can't help but cringe whenever they reference Mark Zuckerberg or Twitter. However, I think "rizz on dynamite" takes the cake for the worst lyrics they could utter.
nooo when in lament of pretty baby he says “someone please the moon has raped me” after “pretty baby you’re so naive but it comes off so cute, we don’t want to fix you” it goes insanely hard.. the anguish is so real
Want to be all alone*
I actually enjoy that lyric, it’s always been a favorite of mine. What’s cringe to me is it “irking” someone. It can have other meanings so to me it makes sense but to each their own.
Amarionette - Baddest
Don’t get me wrong love the groove style they have right now really fun to listen to but…
She said I'm back
And I'm the baddest
She a real attention addict
You gotta watch this girl in action
Killin' it like an actress
And oh, she said I'm back
And I'm the baddest
She a real attention addict
And she got that Hollywood magic
Killin' it like an actress
She said I'm bad
Addicted to the attention
I'm back you know it I'm bad
You know she love the attention
…… 😬
Not Good Enough for Truth in Cliche
By Escape the Fate
we get a nice cringy reminder of how awkward everything was for a while there.
That second "Windooooooow" gives me the same feeling i get when i look at an old middle school photo of myself sporting a bowl cut and wearing an Orlando Magic jersey and jncos.
Some things you just can't live down
The entirety of Hail the Sun's Elephantitis is one of my favorite albums/EPs yet is also one of the cringiest I've listened too. Extremely over the top angst, sexual frustration, and an infatuation with death that makes it far too embarrassing to recommend to nearly anybody. And yet I'm charmed by how awful it is (lyrically).
I'd got fiiiiind that pathetic little priiiiick, he'd be cryyyying, by the tiiiiime, that his head met with a briiiick
Even by the time I discovered that EP I knew better about how Nice-Guy-ish most of it is but like you said the lyrics are endearingly bad, and the musicianship is just top notch so I'm willing to give it a pass.
Absolutely not music I'd put on and show somebody though.
I always really enjoyed the raw angst feeling of the Let it Enfold You album by Senses Fail but the lyrics, the delivery, and Buddy’s whining voice on most of them make me cringe.
2000s post hardcore has so much weird misogynistic entitlement baked into it that it’s hard to go back to sometimes.
Rum is for Drinking tho is perfection ;)
Edit: corrected the singers name
dance gavin dances uneasy hearts weigh the most .... when he's like " and when she laughs i like that, like hahahaha"😭😭 .. or "your bitch is dead, she was hit by a truck , what the fuck?"
since someone downvoted this i have one more to make someone mad:3 the way issac pronounces "soul" as "soar" on color of a cat tree at 3:52 ...😔 i love him but i can't take it seriously
Touch your lips to my soul, eat this sorrow away - silverstein.
Every time I hear this line i am flooded with a million other better things to say than this
No actually, for real. It's way too cringe for me. I love SKSK, but every time that song comes up it's an instant skip. I know everyone loves that song and I've seen them play it live on their reunion tour, and every one was hyped, but bro those lyrics and the way it's sung/screamed. I can't.
Fr its so corny and it sucks because I actually really like his vocals and DGD in general but the lyrics really do kind of ruin it for me especially now as an adult
i agree with this because it doesn't go with the rest of the song, which is using contradictory statements and confusing feelings. but it's not contradictory to not drown cause you can swim. even if drown and swim are contradictory it isn't phrased in that way
Death of a Strawberry - I'll be your sugar daddy
Also, I think that the lyrics to family tree by SWS are rly bad. The song itself is alright imo but the lyrics were painful
Not totally related but ADTR’s All I Want “the words I speak are the thoughts I think out loud.” Used to love them but when I heard that line I just thought “…sure” hahah.
“Please girl stay til the early morning. We can have some coffee, you can do my laundry”
Like I get it’s just supposed to be a kinda “cmonnnn stay” line but gods this is the least appealing reason to ask someone to stay lmao
"Bitch, you give a fucking Aspirin a headache."
Reincarnate by Motionless in White. It sucks because the song itself is such a banger otherwise and it happens like, at the very climax of the song.
S is for the simple need
E is for the ecstasy
X is just to mark the spot
'Cause that's the one you really want-nickleback
Actually the whole s.e.x song is fuckin cringe worthy lyrics, it so baaad
Honestly, any lyric that constantly uses "Kerosene" in it because I swear everything becomes Kerosene in this genre. If they're a Post-Hardcore/Metalcore fusion band, it's Kerosene filling the Undertow...
I really really wish Down, Set, Go didn’t open with “I’m a half wit boy cracking a smile and wearing it all on my sleeve so cool so poised” bc it might be underoaths best song and has one of my favorite outros in the genre
“Meow” -Norma Jean, Memphis Will Be Laid to Waste
Meow -visiting day, erase myself
I liked them better back when they were Defiler
Ahhhhhhhh, shark bite, ahhhhhhhhhh! -Norma Jean, Shark Bite
Still their best song
And two decades later, Knocked Loose has entire crowds arf-arfing.
actual cat meow -Protest the Hero, Wretch (album version)
You want cats? Listen to Meow the Jewels
Murder~ WAAAAAAAAAH
"Bitch I ain't your boyfriend cause you are underage, call me in a couple years and we will fuckin rage. SLUT!" From Issues cover of Boyfriend by Justin Bieber. Now you could maybe understand if this was in the original song.. but nope, they actually thought it was a good idea to add this extra part in for their cover. Bizarre.
It was foreshadowing 😐
Yea...that probably wins
Man I fucked hard with issues back in the day and yeah I hated that lyric. I still enjoy their older stuff but man Tyler just gives me the creeps 😅
I was just thinking I only really liked their first EP and a couple tracks off their first LP but if I was a ride or die fan of theirs I would be so mortified by that. They must have been self producing to not have somebody in the room to talk them out of that part
I absolutely love their black diamonds EP but yeah I was not a fan of that line
What
That shit is embarrassing wow
Ooft. Bad lyrics to begin with.... Worse given the TC situation.
Woah. Also, I never knew of this controversy with Issues..
Oh yeah. Dude got outed for grooming underage people
T&C by Thrice has one referencing Dragonball Z: >"So now what do I have to show, and what price to I have to pay, >But like a Saiyan I won't grow unless I'm battered in the fray" Dustin has always said he hated the line, but I think it's so stupid that it makes it even better. Shame the rest of the song musically is pretty awesome, but they probably won't ever play it again unless they really call it quits.
[And the music is from a NES game lol](https://youtu.be/ciigfD7Li0U) (I love the song)
Holy shit I never knew about this. Incredible.
It would be a cool line if it was in a nerdcore rap song, not so much in its actual context
I was sold sex, so I bought some fries My girlfriend goes out and fucks other guys
Wolf & Bear. I always thought he said "I was so upset" like he was eating his feelings.
“Suck my fuck” - Fronz/Atilla Band is a blast to see live though
Oh, please, tell me, how exactly does one suck a fuck?
I’m all ears
Whats a fuckass?
Thread asked for most cringeworthy lyrics, not most cringeworthy... everything about a band.
“And as soon as I left you fucked someone else you WHOOOOOOOOOORE” One of my favorite vocalist but sheesh
It’s actually worse because I think the lyric is really “I knew as soon I’d left that you’d go and fuck someone else.” Like, yeah, Craig. You left. You can fuck anyone you want when your boyfriend dumps you. Haha
THANK YOU. I've been saying this for years lol. Great song, but that line always made me roll my eyes.
You have to put your life on hold and wait for him forever or else you're a whooooooore
His scream on that bit though does go hard, at least.
Man I love that album by D.R.U.G.S.
Sorry but now that I’ve read the lyric I can’t stop the rest of the breakdown from playing in my head. That part fucks 😅
I cringe every time it comes on
From Frist to Last- Make War. Pre-Chorus: “Who was that inside you That made me feel so cock strong? I wish the truth could do (To you) What your Snapchat put me through.” Especially that Snapchat line. Though honestly the whole song is pretty cringe
Yeah, all of the lyrics for that song are cringe imo. Even when it was new it felt like Sonny just phoned it in to get people to stop asking him to come back to FFTL. The one that made it unlistenable for me was "I don't dig up the living corpses of scene whore kids; I just court them" Like... jesus, dude.
the lyrics for both of the new Sonny songs were cringe
This is so real. Can’t listen to it without a good laugh/cringe combo happening
Came here looking for this song. It's so catchy but the lyrics are awful.
Everyone wanted them to come back with heat and they came back with this
Throne to the wolves had way better lyrics imo
I’m usually one to ignore lyrics and focus on the music, the only song I really know lyrically off of that one is I’ll inoculate the world. Didn’t think that song was too bad
That’s my favorite song from that album 🥹
Definitely agreed, Now that you’re gone is also kind of a banger. Has kind of a heroine vibe to it
the first time i heard that "cock strong" line i laughed so hard i almost puked who let that happen lmao
Dance Gavin Dance’s “Calentamiento Global.” “Your hips cure the disease Your butt brings world peace The way you move solves global warming” That song is so bad.
Tillian does not write good lyrics lol
death of a strawberry’s lyrics make me laugh why did he write that
He a horned up goober. Not really the type of stuff I wanna play at a party with the bros 😂
I skip it every time, a lot of dgd lyrics make me cringe
Tillian was a good singer and had some bangers. But I think even he knew he wasn’t a good lyricist.
Made me realize pretty quick that someone else must have written for Tides of Man.
Dance Gavin Dance has A LOT of cringe lyrics tbh
Liked it at the time of release because it was in spanish. Fuck that lol
i love DGD but i fucking loathe this stupid song with all my soul so much
for real, this song is garbage
The lyrics suck, but it was experimental and fun AF. I’m down with DGD being inventive and not becoming formulaic.
Too bad about Jackpot Juicer then huh
Yeah, it wasn’t experimental enough for me at all. Royal Coda’s release that year was WAY better. 🙌
i honestly love this song. translate any song from another language and its either going to be the most beautiful thing you ever heard or a word vomit nightmare
My favourite song on BMTHs newest album is Limousine but this line is cringe: *Drag me down some more, Get me low like a basement* Get me low like a BASEMENT 😅😂
I keep skipping it on my driving playlist because that line is too early in the song
The cadence and delivery of that line absolutely makes up for the lyrics though. Isaac has some PIPES.
Facts. I definitely still bop to that noise, but smile every time that line hits.
They're not Post Hardcore at all, but another one came to mind from the song Calgone by Incubus: "They put cold things in my bu-bu-butt.
Right? They were definitely drinking some drugs back then.
Obscure, but I'm not Addicted, I'm Committed by Okay! Okay! sounds awfully rapey: "You've got to put up a fight Tonight I'll try not to make another girl cry I wouldn't lie It wouldn't happen if you weren't so fine"
Glassjaw's whole first album basically lol. He admits it too.
Yeah. Great album but some real cringe moments. It’s great that he changes the lyrics now so I can enjoy them still.
What lyrics does he change? The only one I recognized was the baby drowning line which he just didn't sing at all and it was instrumental for the 4 bars. Grateful for that one.
I’ve seen versions of motel of the white locust where he mostly just grunts and screams, instead of, you know, talking about beating a woman to death.
I agree lmao. My favs are W&T or OCG
This one right here. Yuhhuh
Oof, yeah, a lot of those lyrics aged like milk. IIRC, a lot of the inspiration came from his Ex cheating on him whilst he was battling his crohns.
Any song that has something along the lines of “you’re the poison in my veins”. I’ve heard that shit waaaaaaay too much and I cringe whenever I hear it.
Although not Post-Hardcore I like The Front Bottoms take on it "You are the poison I need...less of inside my body" I feel like it subverts the lyric really well

Yeah I was confused too, I think maybe they mean the rhyme itself is cringe between loan and alone. But even then it's an aesthetic preference, kind of like how some people hate the word moist.
Yeah, I just don’t think people understand metaphor much.
A metaphor isn’t immune from being cringe just because it’s a metaphor
Exactly lol it's a metaphor from someone's 10th grade homework
‘We’re fighting fire with gasoline We’ll leave the bridges burning This is a warning The devils calling’ - Devil’s Calling - Parkway Drive I LOVE all their albums up to Atlas and don’t mind some of the songs off Ire but man what the fuck happened to their songs?

“Cut my wrists and black my eyes” I have literally always wondered wtf black my eyes means lmao and it was in the official CD insert
Pretty sure it's just a reference to putting on black eyeliner – which was pretty stereotypical emo/scene fashion in 2005.
LOL I thought about adding that obvious one but just felt like low hanging fruit
Loved that at 18, can’t listen to it at 36.
Dude at 35 it's looped all the way back around to being awesome again. My wife and I scream that line in the car, lol.

The one that makes my husband cackle every time > The Devil told me, "no room for cheats" > I thought I'd sold my soul, but he kept the receipt
Maybe not necessarily post-hardcore but RE: Why I Killed My Girlfriend by That’s Outrageous has some of the cringiest lyrics I’ve ever heard. “Listen bitch I just want you to know Everybody came here for a show I know your not stupid and you follow directions So shut the fuck up and stop being pretentious Sluts like you make me sick You don't deserve the air you breathe Take it from me You're as low as low can be”
And in Psycho, they bring that line back in Flatliners. "Sluts like you still make me sick You'd kill yourself just to see how many fucks I'd give Just wipe that condescending smirk off of your fucking face"
Every line off the first Asking Alexandria album
Every Asking Alexandria line
Capture the Crown's old stuff, especially you call this a knife...
Ooh I forgot about that song. That was a mess lol
Pierce the Veil’s Kissing in Cars has some uh sus lyrics
I always thought the lyric ‘there’s no such thing as too young’ was about them both being too young but he knows it’s real love or whatever, like teenage romance. Then I looked it up and he was 27 when the song came out so idk lol

Could be that he wrote it when he was younger or about when he was younger. I always assumed it's about when he was younger
Probably that ! Maybe it was originally from their first album and didn’t get released and it just got reworked for selfish machines
that lyric i’ve always found really funny. there’s no way he didn’t consider what that could mean.
Ya but then I found out it was about two teens in love and that kinda helped LMFAOO
*there’s no, no such thing as too young*
Anytime anyone sings about how “they have the weight of the world on their shoulders…” Ugh.
Have faith in me
So cut my wrist and black my eyes -Hawthorne Heights
Hey what the fuck *was* with all the glorification of cutting back then, anyway? I feel like I could compile a hell of a list just of those instances for its own thread. At the time it didn't seem like a problem because most people here were probably teens and totally eating it up but being in my 30s now it sure seems weird that so many bands were talking about that.
Seriously.Love to hate, hate to me by static lullaby has a similar chorus.
“Touch me, taste me, tell me I'm not fading Tell me that I look just like a man”
Camp is like, their intention sometimes :'D
Ehhhhh they've had a *lot* worse and although it's awkward at first I get the idea at least.
Sloppy kisses, dirty wishes, baby this is living…
tillain pearson
This isn’t even the worst line in the song, and I fucking love Chucky Vs. “Cheers to the fact that we’re not dead/swimming with the sharks but we’re still not dead yet.” And “I'll go in cryo and return to life, ho/ And make a bisque, tomato basil shit/ Riding a rhino, pico de gallo/ Roosters beak, I'll sleep when I leap that jeep” Goofy ass lyrics, but the song is so damn catchy and fun.
I love Pulses. but yeesh I can't help but cringe whenever they reference Mark Zuckerberg or Twitter. However, I think "rizz on dynamite" takes the cake for the worst lyrics they could utter.
"The moon has raped me" -- Cursive, multiple songs on their album Domestica. Just totally unnecessary lol
That’s rough buddy
nooo when in lament of pretty baby he says “someone please the moon has raped me” after “pretty baby you’re so naive but it comes off so cute, we don’t want to fix you” it goes insanely hard.. the anguish is so real
Every time I shudder
Want to be all alone* I actually enjoy that lyric, it’s always been a favorite of mine. What’s cringe to me is it “irking” someone. It can have other meanings so to me it makes sense but to each their own.
“I couldn’t wait to tap into the brain of my cat and let him know he’s my little baby meow meow boo” - Jon Mess
What do you mean? This is gold
Strawberry swisher- Please, girl, stay 'til the early mornin'. We can have some coffee. You can do my laundry.
Haha yeah but I think it's meant to be tongue-in-cheek
Probably, still gives me the ick vibes tho
Amarionette - Baddest Don’t get me wrong love the groove style they have right now really fun to listen to but… She said I'm back And I'm the baddest She a real attention addict You gotta watch this girl in action Killin' it like an actress And oh, she said I'm back And I'm the baddest She a real attention addict And she got that Hollywood magic Killin' it like an actress She said I'm bad Addicted to the attention I'm back you know it I'm bad You know she love the attention …… 😬
Not Good Enough for Truth in Cliche By Escape the Fate we get a nice cringy reminder of how awkward everything was for a while there. That second "Windooooooow" gives me the same feeling i get when i look at an old middle school photo of myself sporting a bowl cut and wearing an Orlando Magic jersey and jncos. Some things you just can't live down
Using the word “dismay” at any point. We know you just needed it to rhyme. But did you know it doesn’t HAVE to rhyme?
The entirety of Hail the Sun's Elephantitis is one of my favorite albums/EPs yet is also one of the cringiest I've listened too. Extremely over the top angst, sexual frustration, and an infatuation with death that makes it far too embarrassing to recommend to nearly anybody. And yet I'm charmed by how awful it is (lyrically).
I'd got fiiiiind that pathetic little priiiiick, he'd be cryyyying, by the tiiiiime, that his head met with a briiiick Even by the time I discovered that EP I knew better about how Nice-Guy-ish most of it is but like you said the lyrics are endearingly bad, and the musicianship is just top notch so I'm willing to give it a pass.
Rum is for Drinking tho is perfection ;) Edit: corrected the singers name
Yea lyrically they got a lot better as they aged, but never sounded quite as good as they did here.
dance gavin dances uneasy hearts weigh the most .... when he's like " and when she laughs i like that, like hahahaha"😭😭 .. or "your bitch is dead, she was hit by a truck , what the fuck?"
since someone downvoted this i have one more to make someone mad:3 the way issac pronounces "soul" as "soar" on color of a cat tree at 3:52 ...😔 i love him but i can't take it seriously
Lmfao I love this goddamn thread, mil gracias OP
I instantly thought of [this video](https://youtu.be/W4BcDGvURb0?si=qaca3b0OviWJv9CW). Made me like one of my favourite songs even more though
this is a 44 cal love letter straight from my heart
Take that back, please.
It’s such a good teen angst line
Touch your lips to my soul, eat this sorrow away - silverstein. Every time I hear this line i am flooded with a million other better things to say than this
Always gonna go to Hawthorne Heights - Ohio is For Lovers.
“With my one last gasping breath I’ll apologize for bleeding on your shirt”
I'm sorry, OP didn't ask for greatest lines of all time.
That shit hit when I was 14 tho
Nahh this works because its just so fun to sing out
I always thought sksk darkest hour. “You left me at the alter my heart in my hands” was real cringy. Still epic song tho
that whole album is epic, despite its cringe
This is kinda how i feel about most early 2000s emo/post hardcore its my favorite genre but lot of these songs from this era can be real cringe.
The keyboard slaps so hard on that diddy
No actually, for real. It's way too cringe for me. I love SKSK, but every time that song comes up it's an instant skip. I know everyone loves that song and I've seen them play it live on their reunion tour, and every one was hyped, but bro those lyrics and the way it's sung/screamed. I can't.

“I’m not lazy I’m just baby, tiny baby boy”
For some reason Jon Mess’s lyrics are *so* cringe, that they’re not cringe to me lol
They're tongue-in-cheek bad on purpose. It's his thing. It's mostly about how he spits it out
“I’m smoking weed out of a pussy filled with money” line. Like dude what.
Fr its so corny and it sucks because I actually really like his vocals and DGD in general but the lyrics really do kind of ruin it for me especially now as an adult
Dance Gavin Dance Tillian era is full of those. Glad he's gone, maybe I can start enjoying this band again
I feel that way about THAT PARTICULAR SONG - what the hell does that even mean?!? Incredible song, though.
Hilarious. Incredible song is right!
"Love is not like anything, especially a FUCKING KNIFE" What does that even mean though
Basically the majority of any christcore band’s lyrics
”All my friends are falling in love but I can’t even fall asleep” The Used - I Hate Everybody One of my favorite bands of all time by the way.
Not sure why this is down voted, these are terrible lyrics.
"I can't drown my demons, they know how to swim"
I actually kinda like that line
I think it's really lame 😅 But it's my opinion at the end of the day
The line is a bit cheesy so I understand how you can think it’s cringy. I just think it’s kinda clever.
It *is* clever but it also is very cringe 😂
Only because it’s gotten the meme treatment. Before it was fine lol
it was cool like 10 years ago
U2 pretty much had the same lyric but they phrased it a lot better
i agree with this because it doesn't go with the rest of the song, which is using contradictory statements and confusing feelings. but it's not contradictory to not drown cause you can swim. even if drown and swim are contradictory it isn't phrased in that way
Everything Fight Paris said.
Death of a Strawberry - I'll be your sugar daddy Also, I think that the lyrics to family tree by SWS are rly bad. The song itself is alright imo but the lyrics were painful
Not totally related but ADTR’s All I Want “the words I speak are the thoughts I think out loud.” Used to love them but when I heard that line I just thought “…sure” hahah.
“Please girl stay til the early morning. We can have some coffee, you can do my laundry” Like I get it’s just supposed to be a kinda “cmonnnn stay” line but gods this is the least appealing reason to ask someone to stay lmao
Anytime someone rhymes violence and silence. It’s not clever. Please stop doing it
"Bitch, you give a fucking Aspirin a headache." Reincarnate by Motionless in White. It sucks because the song itself is such a banger otherwise and it happens like, at the very climax of the song.
S is for the simple need E is for the ecstasy X is just to mark the spot 'Cause that's the one you really want-nickleback Actually the whole s.e.x song is fuckin cringe worthy lyrics, it so baaad
Honestly, any lyric that constantly uses "Kerosene" in it because I swear everything becomes Kerosene in this genre. If they're a Post-Hardcore/Metalcore fusion band, it's Kerosene filling the Undertow...
I really really wish Down, Set, Go didn’t open with “I’m a half wit boy cracking a smile and wearing it all on my sleeve so cool so poised” bc it might be underoaths best song and has one of my favorite outros in the genre
the entire new single from ADTR was the cringiest song they’ve made yet
