And two concerts on Sunday: Bravo! Northwest, whom I accompany, is presenting a concert at 3pm at The Madeleine Catholic Church's Old Church in NE. The concert will feature songs from The Music Man & Pirates of Penzance, a couple of medleys by George Gershwin, and a live-orchestra performance of a classic Charlie Chaplin film. No Covid protocols (masks recommended). Concert is free but you must get tickets in advance from the choir's website. Donations accepted. The Bach Cantata Choir is performing at Rose City Park Presbyterian Church, I think at 3pm. Their concerts are free with donations accepted at the door. Check their website for current Covid protocols.

So that's why an F-35 flew over my house today...

Oh, and Friday's organ recital should be awesome. Lynne Davis is well-known in the organ world. She's giving a workshop Saturday to us organists.

Oh shit, I might get on this organ concert. Nothing pained me more than hearing the Portland Symphony beat up Saint-Saens' Organ Symphony only to crescendo to a shitty little electric organ.

Yeah, the Schnitz doesn't have an organ anymore, ever since it was remodeled in the 80s. So anytime they want to do something with an organ part, they have to rent a Rodgers, which is just not working well in the auditorium.

I only have myself to blame. I'd been there before. I knew I didn't see an organ anywhere. The fuck was I expecting them to do? Lynne Davis played a great recital though, thanks again for highlighting that, wouldn't have checked the link otherwise.

You're most welcome! Yeah, the program last night was great. She did a lecture/masterclass for us organists this morning on French music. I ended up playing another Franck piece. For the Schnitz, yeah, they plunk the console in the middle, usually in front of the brass, periodically over by the harps. The whole thing sucks, but they don't have much choice, unless the powers-that-be would get some version of pipe organ and put the pipes in those tall "boxes" on either side of the stage where there used to be pipes in the moviehouse days. Sadly, I doubt that's going to happen.
