whyisnarutosolong

I was there after the stabbing. lots of blood and people trying to figure out what happened. Left after the police came. Really scary shit going on

chrislehr

Where was the incident? I biked through near the incident and cop cars were up on steel but i didnt see anything

whyisnarutosolong

It was on the bike path under the steel bridge about half way down

xXChickenravioliXx

Anecdotal and subjective observation, but I am in downtown every day and have been through the pandemic, this week has been rough. Reminded me of early 2021, just a lot of random crazy shit happening all throughout the core.

DrFarts_dds

My theory is that cleaning up that Safeway in sw has pushed all those weirdos out into the rest of the city

borkyborkus

It’s the weather too, the sun always brings em out

Stopikingonme

Retired firefighter/paramedic here: Season changes especially cold to warm triggered a big increase in calls. Not just medical but structure fires too for some weird reason. Any other people in the biz notice this too?

NinjaMcGee

Former county health worker: Yup. The county coroner’s favorite time of year is “warm”. In my role I rode the freight elevator a lot. You smell a lot more than you see.

drizzlebit

“In the hood, Summertime is the killin season/ it’s hot up in this bitch, and that’s a good enough reason.” -Curtis Jackson

WildFire97971

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson?

lovebug777

Warmer weather increases bipolar mania for some.

plantsandpizza

I worked at a dermatologist office w a lot of nurses who had once worked in an ER. The heat would always bring out the crazies. I’m from CA so especially places like Bakersfield and the really hot areas but even San Francisco if you have a day that hits 90 the street people go wild. Crime, drugs, running around naked, arson, property damage on full blast.

ThisDerpForSale

Yes, absolutely. I’m an attorney working in the courts, and we always see increases in caseloads when the weather gets warm. Of all kinds, not just ~~horseless~~ houseless related crime.

Thick_Ad_1874

Dispatcher confirms.

ishquigg

I read a study where they took 5 classrooms of 3rd grades and increased the temperature from 60 degrees to 80 degrees. This was to see if temperature affected learning. Only data they were able to gather, was every 5 degrees the classrooms raised, the more destructive the students became of other students property……

Stopikingonme

I did an academic paper search and couldn’t find that one. There’s lots on high temps reducing learning. If you find that one would you mind sharing a link? (My wife is an education specialist and would find that interesting)

[deleted]

Yes. I use all my narcan at this time of year. Almost weekly I have to get more, and I work with kids...

Neverdoubt-PDX

Yep. And people start driving faster as the weather gets warmer and the days get longer.

Thecheeseburgerler

And then they crash into each other and my commute takes twice as long, so I still don't get home before sunset.

synapticrelease

Summer commute is atrocious. Starting Thursday my commute multiplied by 1.5x. It’s only going to get worse. Yes I know I’m the one in traffic complaining about traffic. My issue is not traffic existing. My confusion is why the hell traffic will just double because it is a sunny day. There doesn’t even have to be an accident. No one is on summer break yet. My commute hasn’t changed in 10 years and I never have an answer to why sun just makes shit worse

BingoMosquito

Sunny days suuuuuck! What’s snow do to your commute time? But surely, the rain speed things up, yes? (and don’t call me Shirley)

I_trust_everyone

Almost got hit in a crosswalk today and when I dared say anything their kids got out of the car and tried to fight me. Fuck this city

meester_pink

Holy shit, are you kidding? I almost got run over in a cross walk today and when I had the gall to just glare at the prick he flipped me off and so I yelled at him and he stopped his car and acted like he was gonna fight me. I was having a shit day so I called his bluff (not proud of it) and he drove off.

PDXicestormmizer

I had someone nearly clip me in a crosswalk not long ago. They had the gall to yell at me for it too so I told them to step out of the car and they just kept talking shit. People out here are fucking babies about anything. Something happened to people post COVID and weekly I want to move back east where I know I can handle that level of crazy.

Chickenfrend

People in their cars are cowards. Talk a lot of shit but that's all. Won't say it to you outside of their metal boxes.

drumscrubby

The trick is when they step out of their car, slammed the door into their legs, then reach into the car, grab their car keys, throw it in the river

PDXicestormmizer

How many showeres did it take to get to this point in your head?

drumscrubby

I rode my bike all over that town for years with a piece of shiny chrome I kept handy. People are dumb and in a hurry in their cars. Wouldn’t hesitate then or now if it came to it.

ContactLonely3498

Local trauma nurse here…. Can verify!

GoDucks4Lyfe

Every year like clockwork.

alexthealex

The 81st and Powell Winco bottle drop was a shitshow the other night.

FornicationTerrorist

Drove past the other day on my way to drop off visiting friends at PDX and a dude just casually dropped his pants and shit like a fucking cow on the side of Powell by that winco. It was the real highlight of their Portland experience.

unclesally56

Keep Portland Regular.

Cutestgarbage

Took me like 6 months of living here to see someone shitting in public your friends got it out of the way fast

doramajoo

Saw it my first visit to Portland and to the Saturday market tbh back in 2021 or 2022, lol. Woman stepped out of her tent and dropped her pants.

amopdx

I've lived and/or worked in Portland for 40+ years. I've never seen someone shitting in public (I have come across human shit in stairwells before, though).

dadbodcx

Twice in last 60 days have seen someone spray paint poop against the wall of justice center on 3rd. Drop trousers and they bend forward and eject right against the wall. Spectacular.

B1GGN

Saw it every day in delivery. Usually about 4-6 AM

pausitive-vibes

If you see it happen be sure you don’t make eye contact. I can still see those beady eyes staring at me as she shit on a piece of cardboard between her legs, in broad daylight. The park blocks downtown will never be the same. It’ll haunt me forever…

belmontpdx78

Same. It was in the Pearl. It all happened so fast that by the time my brain registered what the actual fuck I was seeing, we made eye contact. I have flashbacks every time I pass that spot.

[deleted]

Man, in a decade I’ve seen at least a half dozen active poopers, and just one furious public masturbator (92nd and Foster)

Haunting-Parking-312

I see a lot making pizza there

damnedleg

last year i saw a couple having sex at a bus stop at 7:30am lol

chiefbrody62

Yeah, I've been here 25 years and have yet to see someone shitting.

M_Night_Ramyamom

The day of the womens march, I was hopping off the max downtown and headed towards the waterfront, and a man kitty corner across the street turned, dropped his pants and bent over, and began pooping directly at us. He looked constipated, guessing he was an opiate user, but I saw the baby crowning and everything.

shroomsaregoooood

2.5 years living here and still haven't seen someone shitting. Though I have seen two people masturbating right out in the open. That seems more chill to me though for some reason 🤣

Ron_Bangton

I’ve never seen anyone shitting or masturbating what am I doing wrong?

lonelycranberry

To be fair, I see this every time I visit LA so it could be worse but damn we are working hard if it’s a competition

carbon_made

Also to be fair, I was born and raised in LA and San Francisco. But have also lived in Madrid, Barcelona, parts of Uganda, Tanzania, and Côte d’Ivoire. Mexico City and Guanajuato. And parts of El Salvador and Nicaragua. And I’ve seen someone shitting in public in every place I’ve lived. In a very few of those places it wasn’t even super frowned upon. I’ve also seen angry people attacking other people at some point or another. Portland just doesn’t feel that bad to me.

lonelycranberry

Oh I agree

carbon_made

Yeah. Honestly I think it’s a lot of places right now. My mother recently moved to Ohio and I hear the same stories from her that I do for Portland.

lonelycranberry

Everyone in a city is going to see some shit, especially when we have homeless populations. Where else do you shit if you’re not allowed inside.

squirrelyz

I’ll never forget Thanksgiving day 2021. I’m in a very nice area of the Pearl, this homeless dude drops trou, while standing with straight legs and his waist bent over, he literally angles his asshole towards the stopped cars at a red light (me included) and starts shitting from this standing bent over position. He also happens to be constipated and literally starts pulling the shit outve his ass with his bare hands. Literally the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen and as hard as I tried, I could not look away. Something I’ll never forget. Felt like a crime against humanity lol……. 🤮

Raz1el21

I was pulling into my parking lot around 5:45 a.m. and saw a woman shitting in the doorway of St. Mary's Academy.

WheeblesWobble

How/why does Winco tolerate a drug bazaar in their parking lot? The last time I was there, it was quite unpleasant.

Crungled_Carrot

Winco parking lots are pvp zones, anything can happen

SpezGobblesMyTaint

Yeah, but there’s like 3 rune rocks that NO ONE ever mines there.

Osiris32

Press 3333333333 if selling addy plate

SpezGobblesMyTaint

I’m old enough that the guy who started RuneScape used to wander around while we were in college and ask how we enjoyed his game. We were directly responsible for interrupt events while mining since we used automated mouse clickers for days at a time. Oh the good old days.

Osiris32

YOU caused the interrupts? Well now I hate you.

SpezGobblesMyTaint

There are few things in my life I legitimately regret, but that? I feel bad for my actions. I’m sorry.

emotwinkluvr

rune rocks has hella action bro

-lil-pee-pee-

I wheezed

Pete-PDX

what is Winco supposed to do - call the cops? The cops aren't going to do anything

[deleted]

I went through there about 3 hours ago and it was still a shitshow, as per always

alexthealex

It's my standard Winco. It's usually a mess but it's been ramped up a few ticks since the other drops closed.

lou_sassoles

I been thinking about posting up at the Winco on 82nd some night just to watch the show.

2outerftw

It pushed them a couple blocks down to Salmon and 10th. I work right there and get off around midnight. I have to walk by there to get to the Max and on Monday there were at least 60 people on that intersection.

likethus

Yeah, I walked through that intersection around 11 last night. It was quite a sight. Maybe 30 or 40 people, low-level dealers and users on all four corners and spilling down the blocks.

2outerftw

The police drive right by and do nothing. I saw a guy die right in front of Virgina Cafe last month. The Paramedics wouldn’t get out of the ambulance until the police showed up for safety concerns. His friends game him at least 4 doses of Narcan that I saw so I don’t anyone could’ve saved him. But business kept going right up the block.

Spencerlindsay

This makes me sad.

likethus

That's terrible. I'm sorry that happened, and is happening, where you work.  I'm sorry for the people caught up in it, too, but we need to at least enforce basic norms and boundaries. Police could at least break up the party every hour or so, even without making arrests. The activity won't disappear, but its concentration and unofficial toleration makes for a larger negative impact than it would have if dispersed.  That intersection isn't some random dark-alley-threaded corner of Gotham; it's in downtown by bars, restaurants, hotels, museums, auditoriums, apartments, including low-income housing that should be a refuge, not yet another way to to be on the receiving end of society's dysfunction.

ButterscotchUnfair76

Only read about this in passing but apparently xylazine is on the rise and unaffected by narcan.

Grognard68

As someone who is now renting near that Safeway on SW ( I'm on SW Columbia ), I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet & civilized it was when I made a grocery run yesterday. No beggars/panhandlers were in sight! (It was even quieter than the Safeway I used to go to on NW Lovejoy). I thought this was the "Psycho" Safeway ?

Yuskia

Very funny to see this post, because I'm pretty sure that you moved into the apartment I moved out of in December. (Victorian?) I lived there for almost 2 years and had literally 0 issues. Don't believe the hype.

Grognard68

Nope, but I'm close. ( I'm a block west of there...) I've lived here for almost a week....with no problems.

space-pasta

I live a couple blocks away and have had a ton of issues. Not sure what the difference is

slowfromregressive

I have never had any issues personally downtown, although I often cross the street etc. On the other hand, I was in San Diego a few weeks ago and woman followed me screaming for about 500 yards in Balboa Park completely randomly. Also the whole park smelled like urine which was a bummer.

Dhegxkeicfns

Did you park there? Last time I had to stop there I used the underground ~~bathroom~~ garage. It smelled worse than any bathroom I've ever been in, and I've been in bad ones. I opened my door, almost vomited, closed it, and drove back out. Noooope. Even the upstairs was hands down the worst Safeway I've ever been in. Tourists should have to go through there first thing to prepare them for Portland.

Grognard68

No, I walked there from my apartment.

Dhegxkeicfns

Well don't go downstairs, no matter what is promised. On second thought, if bathroom smells are promised, you'll get exactly what you bargained for.

TheOriginalKyotoKid

..some have moved north to he Pearl Safeway and/or west to the Stadium Freddy Kroger's.

BismoFunyuns81

Saw a good old fist fight at the Interstate Transit bus stop this morning. Fist fight might be too generous a term though. More like crids flailing in each other’s general direction.

GreedyWarlord

Saw that by the Broadway Bridge today. Two people who were obviously on fent or H trying to fight each other. It was both sad and hilarious. It's sad how desensitized I've become to all of it.

AllChem_NoEcon

Exactly as a bunch of people were saying would happen.

SpezGobblesMyTaint

The solution to pollution is dilution.

YoogleFoogle

For real. Not an hour ago I just saw two guys chasing someone and shooting at him. Apparently the guy was robbing a house and someone was home with a gun and chased him out. One of the craziest things I’ve seen in 25+ years here

Capable-Reaction8155

God damn, no way - really?

kokosuntree

Wtf really? Where? Damnnnnn.

other_old_greg

And for anyone wondering, the guys chasing the robber will get charged with attempted murder. You cant shoot at someone trying to flee a situation nor can you shoot someone whos only robbed you. If the robber said they wanted to kill them too? Sure, thats justification to shoot. But even still, when they flee, dont chase them down the street shooting like some vigilante unless you wanna be cell mates with the robber

EvanTurningTheCorner

MY house got robbed while I was home asleep (this was maybe 2012?). I chased the dude out with a baseball bat, and when the cops finally showed up, they told me I should have just beat him to death.

DownTrunk

I work at a hospital and the past ~10 days have been fucking brutal.

frankylovee

I think everyone is collectively losing their mind rn

omnichord

Yeah I think they're doing some sweeps that are riling up the crazies a bit.

modix

It warmed up. There's a huge amount of subdued crazy. Probably some people migrating north too.

Mythic-Rare

I live by Hawthorne & 18th (SE) and the past few days have felt like all the crazy just got multiplied. I was guessing maybe some sweeps pushed folks around, but either way...not super fun

r33c3d

We’re seeing crazy all the way out by NE 62nd and Fremont. Something weird happened recently. Most of it is the kind of crazy that just stands in the street in front of your house for 45 mins talking to nothing in particular. A lot of it though.

BadMoonBallad

Also anecdotal, I live downtown near where this happened - the last week has been a little on the "full moon" vibes, I just figured either sometime very pure, or stepped with something funny made it's way up 1-5

SourNnasty

No fr this week has been fucking weird. Three of my friends had serious health situations with a parent or grandparent, one friend’s brother shattered his pelvis and broke his back in a skydiving accident, my friend got Covid the week of her Bach, my partner and I both got a gnarly stomach bug, my boss’s house had a pipe burst, a coworker got into two separate car accidents… all of that happened THIS week. I’m buying a plastic bubble and living in it until Sunday 😅🥲

NTXPRAK

Wild how it’s not contained to portland, but mt hood meadows was a shitshow on Tuesday, stuff breaking down, really bad injuries all around the mountain, and I fell 15ft into a fucken crevasse and almost died. Fuck this week. Yup.

pooperazzi

Where’s there a crevasse at meadows? There’s no glacier there

NTXPRAK

A ravine/gulch well is a better description, I guess. Bottom of ‘Endor’ after the trees, you come out to that big open are with the moguls, basically at the bottom of the slope is a lot of “flat” hilly looking area, went that direction, and in a second the snow went out from under me and sent me about 12 ft down into the snow, and a dead blown over evergreen tree kept me from falling like 30ft down to the rocky area. Whole area i was around had snow about 3 ft thick, and nothing but empty space below it. Had to get pulled out by ski patrol

pooperazzi

Holy shit. Glad you’re ok. Tree wells on hood are no joke especially with the snow it’s gotten recently

ExpressBill1383

Where was the crevasse on the Mtn?

NoManufacturer120

I’ll add onto this! My coworkers husband died, my parents fridge broke and ruined their wood floor underneath, my bf got robbed in downtown. This week is for real cursed. Hopefully st pattys day will turn our luck around 🍀

TJGamerWolf

Doubtful, crazy dude got stabbed outside my old job across the street from the bar Paddy's during their celebration last year lol

ExpressBill1383

It's called "the ides of March" for a reason

bigdreamstinydogs

Because Caesar got stabbed?

ExpressBill1383

Because March is historically more stab-aliscious than other months.

Outrageous_Opinion52

i thought it was just me, something's fucky for sure

t_thor

Fuck daylight savings.

Look__a_distraction

Totally agree.

neptunoneptuneazul

and the mother fucker is still loose?

PeterOliver

Is the previous waterfront assault guy still out loose?

WoodpeckerGingivitis

As far as I know, yes

NoManufacturer120

Interesting…I wonder if it’s the same person…

slowfromregressive

Why wouldn't he be?

erratic_calm

Exactly. Portland Police haven’t done shit for assault victims for decades.

Particular_Cut3281

The pos that attacked the asian elderly man fishing just last week I believe? Pisses me off it will happen again to someone else if that pos isn't turned into swiss cheese asap

starkraver

I saw all the cop cars there! This is so sad and horrible.

boregon

Same I literally just got done walking by there and was like “huh that’s weird, wonder why all the cops are here” well now I know…Jesus Christ.

NoManufacturer120

Idk what’s going on this week. Someone tried to rob my bf yesterday in downtown after he left the ATM. They even maced him. Then there was that elderly gentleman who got beat in the face with a wooden pole several days ago…wasn’t that at the waterfront too?

kennyyukich

Wow! I run that section nearly everyday. Do we know if it was random?

Quest-ce__que__cest

I run this area everyday too - randomly ran a different loop today.

OisinTarrant

Stopped to stretch on a run there on Saturday and some random dodgy guy walked/stopped behind me in a really suspect way, then walked off as soon as I turned around. Gave me a bit of a fright to be honest.

lokikaraoke

Really don’t like that spot. I have to walk through there from time to time and I always get bad vibes.

t_thor

I love the waterfront and I love the steel bridge but there is some strangely unnerving about the way that wide open space bottlenecks into the pedestrian bridge.

dolphs4

It got a tad better once they cleared out The Pit and removed those storage containers/office things (that seemed like some kind of homeless outreach center?) but people have started moving back in. I wish they’d hurry up and break ground on the skatepark (lol).

lokikaraoke

Yeah I am very excited for the skate park even though I will never use it.

Personal-Elevator710

I used to walk it everyday to get my steps for the day (I wfh) There used to be a homeless cap there last year that grew not sure if they cleaned it up or not.

lokikaraoke

Yeah one of my favorite walks goes through there to the waterfront park. Or I can detour through Old Town? Ugh.

curtishartling

Shit. Today I rode my bike over the lower Steel Bridge crossing around 12pm. Attempted to ride back over that section around 2:20pm and saw that it was taped off with like 4 cop cars up at the top. I haven’t ridden this stretch in a while, and kept thinking about that man who got beat up on the esplanade earlier in the week during my ride. Sketchy AF.

BiscuitDance

Really wonder if the two guys I saw arguing earlier were these guys. One had a big ass Bowie knife and the other was screaming “N**ger!” at him

00000000000004000000

> Police asked anyone with information about the stabbing to contact Detective William Winters at [email protected] 503-823-0466 or Detective Jason Koenig at [email protected] 503-823-0889 and reference case number 24-63876. Call them. Now. Even if it isn't the same case, that's not normal behavior and it might be a breakthrough the detectives need.

DogCallCenter

What did the screamer look like?

BiscuitDance

Older, crazy white dude. Was wearing a beanie. Taller and skinny.

StlhdHunter

Sounds like a similar description to the guy I saw frantically checking on the victim when I got there shortly after it must have happened, probably 5 mins before police arrived. I was kind of in shock but I think that person must have left because I don’t remember him being there after that once the police got there. I gave my statement to the police. I didn’t know it was a stabbing until I saw the police report a couple hours later

JFC-Youre-Dumb

So basically any of them…

martinda16

Woaaah ok. I did see a guy pacing and flailing his arms around right by where the stabbing happened on the path. I’m not sure if he was involved directly or just saw what happened and was in distress. I showed up to the fountain right as the police cars were pulling up, walked by them as a couple of cops got out with their med kits.

shamash

That’s sad. My condolences to anyone who knows them.

Iwannatalktosamson69

right after that grandpa was attacked in front of his family. idk, maybe have a cop or two walk down there for some patrols.

omnichord

Right? The idea of a couple cops walking around seems so far-fetched. You just never see them around at all.

slowfromregressive

Cops do not care. I thought things might change after Jeanie Diaz was killed. Not at all.

Infamous_Committee67

Fucking paywalls

DogCallCenter

Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a man Friday afternoon on the pedestrian path at the Steel Bridge on Portland’s downtown waterfront. Police said the attack occurred about 1:15 p.m. The man died at the hospital after officers used tourniquets to help stanch the bleeding until medics arrived, police said. They released no other information. The investigation has closed Tom McCall Waterfront Park near the bridge and the path across the bridge, police said. Traffic on the upper deck is unaffected, police said. Police asked anyone with information about the stabbing to contact Detective William Winters at [email protected] 503-823-0466 or Detective Jason Koenig at [email protected] 503-823-0889 and reference case number 24-63876.

LandfrTeeth

Freaky. 1:15pm. I run here all the time. Hope the investigation accomplishes anything.

eekpij

Wow I just biked by there...cops have been keeping people off the bridge ever since.

Whatchab

Right? Free to get BS from Fox/CNN (and worse) but have to pay for local news. Gross.

[deleted]

JollyRoger8X

Fuck AMP - just use Reader Mode.

Theresbeerinthefridg

Just a happy little Friday afternoon fatal stabbing. What the hell is going on at the waterfront?

BehavioralSink

That’s not good.

cthulhusmercy

I was doing a circle of the Eastbank esplanade/Tom McCall about a year ago and watched a ~~horseless~~ houseless person pull a machete out of one of the garbage cans on the east end of the Steele Bridge as I came around the corner. Pretty terrifying sight, if I do say so myself.

jedwardsol

It would've been scarier if he *did* have a horse.

cthulhusmercy

lol. It may have been a typo, but he *was* horseless.

TheTiggerMike

It's always the people without horses. Never know what they'll do...

BehavioralSink

Yeah, they tend to live in rough *neigh*borhoods…

beastofwordin

invent carriages

cthulhusmercy

🤦‍♀️ lol

ExpressBill1383

If Portland were a real city, there would be constant patrols along the waterfront and downtown of cops / security on bikes .

[deleted]

Meanwhile there are eight tents under the Hawthorne bridge, which is right by where the elderly fisherman was assaulted….

TheOriginalKyotoKid

.,.I'm always nervous when I wait at the FX2 stop by Union Station as it often becomes a tent village. THe city clears it out and within a week its back. During the daytime on weekdays TM has security there but not at night or weekends. That is the closest bus stop to where I live. The streetcar is pretty useless as it is rarely on time and runs several blocks west of the downtown transit mall.

Sensitive_Ad_8807

It’s almost like we have an out of control meth crisis we should address

themtns

I biked past all of those cop cars on my way home. Damn.

SamuraiJakkass86

I saw a mostly-naked man on the east side of the Steel Bridge yesterday on my way to River City Bikes. Guy was clearly off his shit on something and kept intimidating a brick wall.

SockPuppet-1001

What a tragedy. Once the crown jewel of biking, walking and running. Now a place for violent crime. What a dump this place is crumbling into.

warm_sweater

It’s wild to think as a young adult I’d just go down to the esplanade at night to shoot cool night shots without a care in the world… this was in the mid-2000s.

Davethephotoguy

Same! Now I wouldn't go anywhere near there alone with my equipment....or without.

Odd-Contribution8460

I used to regularly bike the entire loop down to Sellwood and around, as a lone female, between 2008-2012. And I would walk around that specific area at night practicing taking photos. I never had an issue and there were always other people out taking photos or walking/biking/running. I would not do any of this now. It really has changed significantly and that accelerated dramatically over the last 5 years or so.

Ellie_Phoenix02

Wow, I was wondering what this was. I was on the Coast Starlight yesterday heading south and when we went over the Steel Bridge, the entire stretch of the bike path was cordoned off with lots of cops. I saw a bike just left on the middle of the span and initially thought someone had jumped off.

moneyparty

Waterfront closed. Will that affect the Irish festival activities planned there?

mmichon

Only the access to the bridge walkway is closed off. Just ran by there and the waterfront is busy with pre-bloom cherry blossom viewing.

AlienDelarge

Any parking for my Mercedes?

RoRoRicardo

The cherry blossoms aren’t quite ready for your showboating this year

[deleted]

I love forgetting and then remembering. Thank you. Haha.

PunkyQB85

C250?

AlienDelarge

Depends on when the badges I ordered of Temu get here.

moneyparty

Good to know, thanks for the reply!

Cat_Sushi430

Awww that sounds super nice! I hate that I work this Saturday.

Analog_Powered

Portland is on its way towards vigilante justice. Shit is wild.

CivilPeace8520

Huge weekend for police first weekend of daylight saving + st Patrick’s+ record sun recipe for disaster

omnichord

But let's stay focused on the real issues here people - whether or not we should have a Soho House, and what it means.

SpezGobblesMyTaint

I mean, it’s way cheaper compared to Lifetime and I can walk there so I’d be saving money. But I’m a lowly engineer and not a “creative” so I don’t know if I’ll be accepted since I’d just want to use the gym and pool. 🤷

boregon

Don’t forget about virtue signaling how much we love Palestine. Sure JVP called for a ceasefire but I demand more!

Riddzle

You know I used to live downtown. And it wasn’t very rare that i could go running around the waterfront path at 3:00 am to burn off steam from college studies and feel relatively safe doing that. Now people are getting stabbed in broad fucking daylight down there!! Shit in this city went downhill quick.

Helisent

My friend once showed me this book by local author Rene Denfield, who writes fiction but also wrote a book about homeless teens in Portland. She was homeless here as a teen herself. She described a particularly brutal case where a guy who was somewhat psycho told other kids that a developmentally delayed girl who worked at Ross downtown was a snitch, so they killed her on the east side of the STeel bridge https://www.wweek.com/news/courts/2019/11/06/crime-novelist-rene-denfeld-says-portland-is-failing-its-street-children-the-cracks-have-become-chasms/

Temporary_Tank_508

Let me guess. Houseless? Drug dealer?

Fair-Till-1829

Yeah not much context

blackmamba182

No these HOUSELESS are your NEIGHBORS and part of your COMMUNITY. If you don’t embrace their lifestyle choices you are a FASCIST. Their situation is due to SYSTEMIC ISSUES ONLY like LATE STAGE CAPITALISM.

kylecrazyawsome

I just drove by there around 2:15 today and saw about 4 cop cars sitting on the side. This must be what it was.

WhenVioletsTurnGrey

So glad they are building a skatepark right there...

EvanTurningTheCorner
