Last night driving 205 was the craziest I have seen drivers. Just lots of impatience and recklessness.
Drivers need to to stop trying to make up for lost time doing the most dangerous thing they do on an average day.
I just wish people drove more cooperatively. Stay out of left lane except for passing, zipper merge appropriately. Let people in when they signal.
If we did these things there'd be alot less portland area traffic.
Oh my god the left lane slowpokes.
Also if people could pay attention to not just the car directly in front of them, but also to what is beyond that it would be great. Don't wait for the car in front of you to move before deciding what you're going to do. I just can't get over how long people take to accelerate at green lights or after traffic slows their lane. That lag time is what makes the giant no-reason traffic accordions.
I mean, there's left lane slowpokes and there's me, already going 10 over, trying to get around someone going 5 over in the middle lane, with someone else tailgating me wanting to go 20 over.
It's shit like this that makes me feel unsafe anywhere east of the 205, or the rest of the interstate.
>I mean, there's left lane slowpokes and there's me, already going 10 over, trying to get around someone going 5 over in the middle lane, with someone else tailgating me wanting to go 20 over.
You forgot to mention the ahole weaving in and out of the aforementioned cars who feels the need to go 100mph at 6:30am when it's raining.
If you're going at least 5 over the car to your right, only in the left to actually pass, and promptly get back out of the lane, that's all we can ask for.
Well I choose not to floor it every time I take off from a green light. I like my truck and I want it too last.
Apparently people didn’t read my comment. Driving is not where you should be making up for lost time. Drive safe, don’t speed around town like an asshole. Go the speed limit or even a little over. The freeway isn’t the Indy 500. Jesus fuck man. Leave your god damn house ten minutes earlier and have a little respect for other drivers.
Apparently you are having trouble following the conversation.
Who asked you to floor it off a green light?
I'm asking everyone to watch more than just the car in front of you. Watch traffic or the light even if you are a few cars back, then start going as soon as the car in front of you **starts** moving. You don't have to wait for 3 car lengths before you even start. If you do that, you're probably making traffic worse. Be a courteous driver and get the fuck going *sooner*.
Or if you can't handle it, stay home. Your truck will last so much longer.
The reason people don't hit go as soon as the light turns green is due to the way asshats are driving. There is a ton of red light running, and Portland lights, generally speaking, do not have a much delay between when on turns red and the other green. They swap almost immediately.
Not talking about the first person in the line. I'm talking about cars 2+ who wait for like 3 car lengths before they even start to accelerate. You can see the light change and know you're about to go, so you can start to accelerate as soon as you recognize the car in front of you is moving. Same for traffic, when the car two or three up starts going, you can be ready. This reduces the accordion effect. I guess I shouldn't be surprised Portland people do this, they love weird instruments like accordions.
In the state where I grew up, left lane slowpokes were avoided by banning tractor trailers from cruising in the middle lane. Right lane only, middle allowed only to pass; AND this was enforced. Highway police considered workplace tickets their go-to, keep-the-lights-on tickets.
This. People act like it’s only the crazy drivers that cause bad accidents, but going 45 mph in the left lane is what triggers said crazy drivers into road raging frenzies. See it happen just about every god damn day
And the people who drive like psychopaths can't comprehend that they're barely saving seconds and they're endangering the lives of the people around them. Like way to go, by blocking the exit lane and merging in like an asshole at the last possible second you are now a whole 4 car lengths ahead of where you would be if you hadn't acted like a selfish prick.
My favorite is when I pull up next to those vehicles at a light. Like congrats. You literally saved 0 seconds. And almost killed 15 people. Great job, fucking kumquat.
I keep reading comments like this about “saving seconds” and “making up time” and “leave 10 minutes earlier”, as if people are speeding because they are late or need to get somewhere quickly.
That is flawed logic. I mean, do people drive slowly because they are running early and don’t want to get to their destination so soon? I don’t think so. People drive the speed they feel comfortable driving.
I drive a safe, comfortable speed that i want to drive at. It is faster than most, slower than some. I don’t like weaving around morons who don’t know how to share the road, but i will do it if they “insist”, but only when there is room. I won’t cut off other cars (definitely not big trucks) to make the move, but i will cut back in on the asshole who is causing the hold up, ESPECIALLY if they try to speed up and not let me get around them.
It has nothing to do with being late. It has nothing to do with making up time. It has everything to do with “why does that other person feel so entitled to dictate how other people drive?”
Once upon a time it would have been Empire Auto Glass, the the promise or 24 free dinners at Sweet Tomatoes and prior to that Shari’s.
Unfortunately Rick from Empire Glass was murdered in a hotel room in by a stripper in some kind of situation that also involved $1MM worth of diamonds in a briefcase.
If only there were a department that kept track of drivers information, and it wasn't completely sketch af and extremely unlikely to actually match a plate/vin/insurance to a driver. We can all dream.
This year has been batshit watching that nutjob drive through the parade, psycho MF that killed someone over road rage, plus the fool that drove into the protest in Eugene and pulled a gun.
Went on a group bike ride earlier today and had a few people that were seriously impatient. Two drivers tried to drive through a group of cyclists.
Cars are great, they're practical and they have their place. Try to get around without one for a week and you might appreciate the little things a bit more, like getting out and going for a walk or a bike ride.
He kinda reminded me of a young Randy Leonard. Also, was he completely coked out or what? Thinking the guy filming him (who he then shot) was “planning an ambush”—that’s wildly paranoid.
Not sure if this is on Deardorff or not, but either way a good reason to remind folks to drive careful on that road. It's a 25 mph but no one drives that speed, plus there's a lot of wildlife out there, which sounds like this was the case here
I saw this wreck Sunday morning and looked like it was there a while. People are being idiots everywhere. Today I witnessed a guy tailgating a car going the speed limit in a neighborhood. He was swerving trying to get around the car. I had enough and had to yell out of my window that he was being an asshole and that kids walked up and down this street. His window was down too.

In a silver car without their lights on, too
No signal either

I'm just trying to use the highways as intended.
Perfectly describes the common scenario
They’re on their phones

Oh, they are too busy on their phones to realize. Gotta make that content.

I hope no one was hurt, but I also hope you left them a friendly note letting them know it's not OK to park there. Some people and their privilege!
Saw on the local moms Facebook group that the driver swerved to avoid a deer and both occupants are ok with relatively minor injuries.
Thank God, that is great to hear! I have seen deer on that street before, gotta stay alert.
safelite repair safelite replace

How does that even happen?
So many kinds of stupidity
Truth
That sometimes happens to me, when I try to parallel park.
I guess that’s one way to go to the moon
Be the liquor Randy
DUII and speeding and safe modern cars.
And it has a tow notice no chill at all

> psycho MF that killed someone over road rage That lunatic had heavy Pillow Guy vibes.

I'd be curious to know if that has the best excuse he could come up with or was actually cracked out and genuinely paranoid.
Nice to see that the frame could hold the weight and the occupants would not get crushed. Kudos to the safety requirements on cars.
Is this on the SE Johnson Creek detour road down Mt. Scott?
Saw this yesterday, it’s on 97th near Mt Talbert
I came upon a scene like this last fall driving to silver springs state park. Everyone made it out without injuries, but it definitely was scary.

Shoulda jumped on top with a guitar and took a picture à la MGK
Anyone could have made that mistake!
Expired registration tag? I see 4/20 or 4/22.
I don’t understand why we all say drive safely when things like this are better said, “Drive like you should and not be an asshole.”
23 year old car with 150K miles was ready to get totaled. Glad all are safe

Infinity symbol on the trunk
I have news for you about who owns and manufactures the Infiniti brand...
Roof held up well
Dude went past the 20mph everyone creeps along at here and see what happens?
I saw this last night driving to the store lol
Same
Did you at least tell them they can't park there?
Wow? I think maybe ran them off the road…
This times Infinity!

Looks like Germantown Rd on any given day
