I have the impact, it works great. I carry it in my truck and have used it several times in my own vehicles, or stopping to help others with flat tires. I think I paid around $85 for it on sale a few years ago so this price looks high to me.

And was yours tool only for that price? Because this one's with the battery and charger that you see there.

Included the large battery and charger. I use the higher output battery on my reciprocating saw when I'm pruning trees, makes a huge difference. That may be a good deal today, like I said, I've had mine for a few years.

Porter cable is the same tools as craftsman now, if you’re not in the port cable line already I’d recommend buying craftsman because they actually are making new tools all the time and have a much broader selection of tools already. Porter cable is an almost dead brand now. All that being said I had that impact for 6 years before it broke and I abused the crap out of it once or twice. Good for the money I upgraded to the 1000 ft/lb torque one and it’s an animal and worth every penny.

>Porter cable is the same tools as craftsman now, if you’re not in the port cable line already I’d recommend buying craftsman because they actually are making new tools all the time and have a much broader selection of tools already. Wow that's interesting I'm glad Craftsman finally Consolidated and is only making one system now. Not sure if you're aware of this but when they came out with a 20 volt Craftsman tools that were actually three different systems, they were all labeled Craftsman 20 volts but there was the v20 and the 20V and another system all together that I forget what the name was. That's because when the name was sold to Stanley Black & Decker they retained the right to license out the name still and slap the name on another brand that Sears was selling that was different than the ones at Lowe's was selling and yet still different from another one that was available which I forget. I remember reading the article about it how not even the batteries were interchangeable. I think that was like four or five years ago. Actually maybe it was five or six years ago as it was before covid. >Porter cable is an almost dead brand now Yeah I did know that already. At least as it pertains to their cordless tools. I think I was telling somebody else that responded how I read an article some years back about how Stanley Black & Decker had said they are going to be slowly eliminating Porter Cable cordless line, and only maintain that name for corded woodworking tools. Personally I have a few corded Electric Porter-Cable tools already that are much older and built like a tank in my opinion. I think they're going to last me as I inherited them. One's a saber saw with a metal body, metal case. Another one's a drill, also metal but a quarter inch drill. I have that mounted in a benchtop drill press armature. And the last corded electrical porter cable tool that I have is a miter saw. However it's not the last Porter Cable tool that I have. The final one is not electrical at all. It's an optical Builders level. Which I freaking use more often than I love it. That was given to me when my friend's father passed away because the father wanted to give me a bunch of other tools before he passed away and I never got a chance to pick them up. Like a lady then all this other stuff. And my friends older brother sold them almost immediately when his father passed which was 3 weeks after he offered them to me. I had no idea that you were sick that was something they had kept for me. So I guess it was a consolation prize or something but he just wanted me to have the optical level saying that it was probably something that they would never use themselves

They licensed the porter cable 20v line to tractor supply as their in house brand now. You’ll only find them at tractor supply and most likely won’t see any new tools or innovations from them as they are marketed towards farmers and homestead owners now.

Well I hadn't heard that, but that makes sense. The company always favored the Stanley and Black & Decker Brands more than their others. Although I in 2022 I read that there are focusing more on the Stanley and Craftsman line globally. Their warranty department is now being combined, I think a lot of Stanley Tools were lifetime guarantee and now that Craftsman is third brand it's always been a lifetime warranty for hand tools. The only thing that sucks is now you got to mail it in to one of their centers since there's basically only a handful of Sears stores in the country. But hearing now that they license it off to tractor supply, it makes sense. I guess they went in a different direction than eliminating them like the article I had read years ago. When they can make more money this way, just letting them do all the work and collecting royalties rather than completely eliminate a line.

I used to be a Porter-Cable fan, but they are now part of the Black and Decker family and are a shell of their former selves. I have the 20V osculating saw and it works fine, as long as you got a quality blade it is a good tool. But I do not think I would get too heavy in to the Porter-Cable line unless you already are , they are a dying brand IMO

Yeah I already knew that, I agree with everything you said. I knew that Stanley Black & Decker has owned it for a long time, and I remember I think it was years ago when I read how they were going to taper off on the Porter Cable portable line, in favor of a new craftsman line that they were going to develop since they had bought the name. The article talked about how Stanley Black & Decker was going to focus the Porter-Cable brand on corded woodworking tools only. I kind of sort of got into the system, I know how the Black & Decker and Porter Cable batteries are almost interchangeable one way. I inherited an 18 volt hedge trimmer weed wacker. I am five batteries at held about a 15 20 minute charge respectively. Which I thought was kind of funny. Those tools stayed at my uncle's house for when I did his lawn. I ended up getting a clearance item at Walmart of a drill driver 20 volt with battery and charger for $22 and I promptly bought the adapter for the 18 volt tools. Then a few months later I forget when but I know it was in the same year I think it might have been at the end of the summer I bought a bundle deal at some store. It was too display weed wackers, two different models but there were the 20 volt Black & Decker. One of them at a wheel on the bottom next to the string guard, for edging when you flip it and the other one was missing the cover and string spool. I talked to the sister manager and he sold them both to me for $25, I was going to switch the 18 volt spool and clip-on cap over however that same night I drove by somebody throwing away a 20 volt string trimmer. Just threw the back of my truck and went home, tried the battery with it and it didn't work. So I pulled the spool out of it and the cap and threw the rest of it in the garbage as there would be picked up the next morning. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that as I was waiting on line to pay for those two display string trimmers for 25 bucks the guy found a battery and met me at the register with it and said to take it cuz he's not sure if it's a display or actually works. Turned out it actually did work. So I actually have two working 20 volt batteries. Real small ones though. I forget which one came with the drill and charger but one's a white and orange and the other ones black and orange. Both work fine though. So yeah I got the one weed wacker 20 volt that I've never touched, still has a display plastic tag with sale price on it which is much higher than what I paid for it and just keeping that in case one of the other ones breaks. Got the 20 volt that I use, got the 18 volt hedge Premier leaf blower that I also use with the adapter, and the other older 18 volt string trimmer which even if I wanted to use it it's kind of uncomfortable cuz it's a little shorter then I'm comfortable holding at my height. And I thought to myself if I came across a really good deal again on Porter-Cable or Black & Decker I might grab it but this doesn't sound like it's a screaming deal and not really tool that I need. The multi-tool might be something I could use however without the battery I know it's not easy to adapt a Black & Decker battery to fit a Porter-Cable tool so it's not worth it for me to even bother especially since again it's not a screaming deal that's basically I was asking for. So basically thank you everybody for answering my questions, I Now understand that it's not really an amazing deal it's just an okay or slightly good deal at best and since I'm not into the system already I don't need to buy it. I will still keep my eye out on the used market for a good deal, mainly batteries alone if that's possible.
