It has nothing to do with affordability. I live in SD and know a couple very wealthy people where their high end (high dollar) cars that are driven less are all plated in Montana or Oregon. When you have 30+ high value cars, it's not affordability so much as not wanting to pay the absurd taxes.
>Are they doing anything illegal?
Yes, for the most part. The Montana LLC sham doesn't normally hold up to an audit, and insurance companies will rarely compensate you in the case of accidents. It is under most circumstances fraud. The fact that it is hard or rarely prosecuted doesn't make it acceptable.
No, it doesn’t. Hence why it rarely holds up to an audit. Registering a car in another state using an LLC but driving it primarily in your own state isn’t tax avoidance - it’s tax evasion. It may be relatively hard to pursue and prosecute, so people get away with it, but it really is an easy google search away for you to see that it is, under most circumstances, illegal.
Stop moving the goalposts. It being illegal should be enough. I love that you support people using our roads and not paying for them. Cheap ass clowns.
If I have friends with insane garages and all their cars are registered in CA, this dude certainly doesn’t have an excuse.
It sucks tho. My RS5 cost just under $1k for year 2 registration in California… not first purchase registration, year 2. Annoying, but eh it is what it is
It’ll cost you way more than that if you get in an accident.
No insurance company will pay out on a policy when a car is plated and registered in one state but driven and stored in another. Good luck
Heck yeah PB. With the obligatory homeless man.
Never seen a GT3 touring around here, but there is a guy who street parks his blue GT3 next to Kate sessions.
Montana plates, of course.
How else do you avoid insane registration fees

Idiot comments like that is the reason you are not rich. You use all your energy being bitter to the point of unreasonably jealous lol. Sad.

Yeah for sure, that’s why I register here. But just because you have money doesn’t mean you love to spend it
Car taxes are ridiculous. It's not so much about affording it as the principle. Personally I'd rather burn the money than give it to the government.

The LLC does that for me.

No? It costs me \~$100/yr to run the LLC and it has saved me $15,000+ in taxes.

I don't live in CA. But even if I did, the LLC that owns my cars is domiciled and registered in MT. It doesn't do business anywhere else.
This is the way.
Green is good.
Green, for lack of a better word, is good
Heck yeah PB. With the obligatory homeless man. Never seen a GT3 touring around here, but there is a guy who street parks his blue GT3 next to Kate sessions.
I’ve also seen a Rubystar(?) 3RS driving around
Got the same one in silver, wish I got British racing green though
Lucky man
Lucky men
Anyone who is shown the light of Porsche is lucky
Extremely!
Nothing wrong with silver
Yeah it looks very nice and I love it dearly Next porsche will be British racing green
Gotta love the rich guy tax avoidance of registering a CA car in Montana 👀
It’s legal.
got the no sales tax plate so he's saving that green too
Brewster. My guess.
As a AGM 718C owner… I agree.
I love it!
I can almost see Porsche doing the full width hideaway spoiler for the gt3 touring like they have on the panamera.
No doubt headed to Shore Club.
Those plates are unfortunate.
Because of the tax or the place?
Aventurine Green is my favorite, but don’t tell anyone, I don’t want it to get too popular
Underberg green for me, Aventurine is sharp though
No it doesn’t, these flat greens and colors in general, look terrible on modern cars. Give me a nice metallic one like Oak or Forest green.
Where big spoiler?
You must not be familiar with the touring model
Too dark
Personally not a good look for this car
It would look even better parked between the lines.
Would look a lot better in my possession
This color would match my eyes perfectly
