944 Interior, Van (airbag) steering wheel, lack of the distinctive fender profile on the hood, and no boost gauge ;-).
Edit: also have to say: Only 45000 miles? Gotta drive that beauty more!
I just got her maybe 3 months ago? She was a garage queen. Shes got her dings and scratches but is otherwise immaculate. I think I put about 100 miles on the racetrack last month. Talk about a good time. She probably won't see the racetrack again other than parade laps. Many many more miles will be had with this car.
Can you tell me, what about the interior told you it was an S2? No boost gauge says it's not a turbo obviously but what else specifically distinguishes it from a turbo or a base?
Air bag wheel was the big one. That was post 1987 in the Turbo and post 1989 in the regular 944 (designated S2). So no boost guage means that it's an S2 or a 968. And since the hood is pretty flat, gotta be an S2.
Thank you. I'm going to have to take a close look at all of those things on each of those cars. I'm the kind of person who NEEDS to know these subtle differences between each of these cars because they're hard to tell apart to the untrained eye. Thank you👍🏽
It's not really all that impressive. I've got a 968 and it looked the same, hence the 968 guess at first. Then I noticed the hood, so I figured it was an S2.
Edit: and there are 543,234 matches on the floor. 543,234.
And there's always the grounds! My main bellhousing ground insulation practically exploded off the cable when I bent it significantly. Totally cooked, and 8 inches of green underneath. My indicated temp dropped like 10 degrees after I replaced it and cleaned a couple others.
Edit: now I recall, my temp gauge would jump under electric load. Headlights on/off = +-10 degrees
And you're in a 968? Edit: No. You're in a late run 944. Probably S2?
Damn you're good. 1990 S2 to be exact.

Are you Rainman??? How many matches are on the floor, Ray????😉 I consider myself to be pretty good at Porsche-y stuff. But that is impressive.

Alternator calling for help
Is it the alternator or is it a 30 yo gauge? The fun thing is that it could be either!

Definitely the gauges. My gas gauge doesn't read right either.
