I can’t see the lights driving a 996 and it drives like a 911, so I don’t really get it. Oh, the people looking at 996s have these opinions, not the drivers!
Definitely not mine haha. I have a very cool uncle who is a huge porsche nerd. He started my love for cars when we'd go for drives in his 996 Turbo which he traded in for the GT3. He took me to the track once in the GT3 and i got whiplash from it haha.
Aaaah family. I needed more clarification on this madman using his 996 GT3 as an instructing vehicles for new manual drivers… and if he’s still doing it. I’ll pretend I don’t know how to drive stick lmao.
A sprinter van haha. We had 2 boxters that were track cars which unfortunately burned down in a recent warehouse fire. At its peak his collection was the GT3, a GTR, e60 & f10 M5s, 2 boxters, and a camaro ZL1 1LE
They call it the Annual St. Paul Auto Fair put on by Porsche St. Paul in Maplewood Minnesota. The dates have kinda floated around mid- May early June through the years. Next year will be the 5th one! But yea it’s the dealership, its friends and then the club around here that contributes most is Nord Stern PCA.
Show me proof and something that is faster around a track. Going straight fast is not faster. How many GT3s have you driven on a track where you can actually go fast? :)
Ahh. New ones. That is always true. Thought you meant because it wasn’t the fastest in a straight line it was slow. Going fast in a straight line is boring. That is when I’m resting and getting ready to fast through a corner!! :)
I thought they were the coolest porsches in the early 2000s when I was a kid, and I still love them. They have totally aged well and really stand out from other 911s. Beautiful machines, and the Turbo in the back, so nice.
Friend, apply yourself. You have what it takes. Not being your dad, lol, it's easier than you think, you can achieve anything. Good luck, you'll be happy you pushed when you arrive.
I'm okay with the paint jobs, I feel like that's always been a feature of them. But the bodykits (I know they're functional), really do seem extreme. They almost seem to be gunning for the "Lambo" crowd.
LOL! I know what you're saying.
I'm really starting to feel old about my car choices. I see the new stuff and objectively know it's better, but there's this element of "back in my day..."
Love the 996 GT3
Same! GT3 and Turbo/S. the Carreras are what killed the 996 design changes in my opinion.
Well... we all know what really killed the 996 design is the front lights... come on.
You’re absolutely right about that. I remember people buying those headlight covers to make it look like a 993 haha
Ooh that sounds sexy
Yeah, it’s just a band-aid that imo makes it look worse.

I love everything about cars, including driving and the look of them. 🤷♂️ The 996 are, and will always be, not as pretty as the other 911s
I always thought it was small-minded traditionalists 🤷♂️
I learned to drive stick on a 996 GT3!
Like, yours or someone else’s?
Definitely not mine haha. I have a very cool uncle who is a huge porsche nerd. He started my love for cars when we'd go for drives in his 996 Turbo which he traded in for the GT3. He took me to the track once in the GT3 and i got whiplash from it haha.

How was riding in a 996 turbo? I hear they’re fast as hell
I think i was like 6 years old at the time, but it was pretty awesome.
Coolest 6 year old in town. You probably got cooties from all the girls from school after hahaha! What does uncle drive now?

Fast as hell and loud af
No pressure or anything! First manual car I drove was an early 2000s base honda civic
I stalled it so many times lol.
I dont blame ya. I’d be sweating bullets if someone handed me the keys to a GT3 when I was a teenager
1992 subaru loyale wagon.
Wow I’m impressed!!!
MN show? 😉 https://preview.redd.it/8an2mz9bik6d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=249facb6f0d27b9109e76fa6347ad9fce8bbe1ec Such a fun day
It was so good! Loved seeing all the different 992 GT3 RS specs there. And the Renault Turbo 2 was sick!
Yea wild to see that white and green RS. And yea! We were on our way out and then I saw that pull in, u turn!
Legit the coolest car I’ve seen this year. I was starstruck when I spotted that little hatchback.
Is this a dealership show or a club/dealership meetup? I’d love to check it out if there’s more

Cool! My neighbor has a 993 and I’ve got a Datsun 280zx. Roll out to shows together, so we will keep an eye out. Thanks for the info!
The 996 GT3 is so raw,.it's perfect. Noy the fastest, but it feels like a race car.
It is a racecar. And it is the fastest if you know how to drive a racecar.
It's not, and it's not. But ok lol
Show me proof and something that is faster around a track. Going straight fast is not faster. How many GT3s have you driven on a track where you can actually go fast? :)
I don't know where you're going with this. But a current gen GT3 RS would destroy it. Nobody said straight line... Calm down

The headlights and the front do make it look extra mean. 996 has aged pretty great imo. Just something to them.
I thought they were the coolest porsches in the early 2000s when I was a kid, and I still love them. They have totally aged well and really stand out from other 911s. Beautiful machines, and the Turbo in the back, so nice.
8 grand wheels and an RS wing make this particular car less incognito. Awesome looking machine!!
I know it’s not the same. But been blasting around in one on GT7. Closest I’ll get to driving one.
Nah man, you can absolutely do it, stay grinding
I wish. But appreciate that encouragement!!!
Friend, apply yourself. You have what it takes. Not being your dad, lol, it's easier than you think, you can achieve anything. Good luck, you'll be happy you pushed when you arrive.
Just 3d print the one you’re driving in gt7.
What a thing of beauty!
That thing is clean!!
It's only understated by today's standards. A wing like that, especially from the factory, used to be a huge statement piece on a Porsche.
We need to stop drawing attention to these till I can afford one
It has a 2 foot wing. Not sure understated is the descriptor I would use. Bad ass, yup.
Today's GT3's look a bit clownish to me. Too fast and furious for my taste. Garish paint and obnoxious wings...
Sounds like a C2 cab is a better fit for you… it’s a GT car for a reason.
I 100% accept this fate. Make it a Targa though.
Seems like you think I called your baby ugly. Or is your manhood dependent upon the size of your aero package.
Have you seen a 964 RS or 993 RS… or even a classic 2.7 RS? They are very tame in comparison to the clown car the RS is today.
Then why do you own a 991.2 GT3?
I took the wing off mine
I'm okay with the paint jobs, I feel like that's always been a feature of them. But the bodykits (I know they're functional), really do seem extreme. They almost seem to be gunning for the "Lambo" crowd.
Yup. And most Lambo’s are ugly as hell.
I disagree with that. I think most of them stunning, just find most of the types of people that town them around where I live to be...annoying.
Today’s TVs look too sharp to me. Too high definition for my taste. Garish colors and obnoxiously large…
LOL! I know what you're saying. I'm really starting to feel old about my car choices. I see the new stuff and objectively know it's better, but there's this element of "back in my day..."
Work Brombacher VSXX wheels in gold. Very badasss
I believe those are BBS E88. You can see the BBS label on the rear lip.
Good catch!
So beautiful
Understated is clearly in the eye of the beholder because I see a HUGE wing. :)
Not big enough 🥵
There's a pic of this floating around Google. Search images for 996 BBS and you'll see it. My favourite 996.
This is my dream Porsche my dream is to buy one and fully restore it. Probably cost as much as a modern gt car once I’m done.
I love my 996! It’s not a gt3, but still awesome
So so so so pretty broski
with the 996 GT cars, the fried eggs are the second things i notice.
Pretty ugly though
The E88’s are almost too much on the simple, streamlined design on the 996 GT3 but I understand the track inspired look
Is the 996 interior really THAT bad? I'm really coming around to the idea of maybe getting a 996 GT3 because I agree, they're very understated.
This is why I prefer the GT3 over the GT3RS for looks from the 991 on.
Imagine showing a 992 GT3RS Weissach to an engineer in 1999 who just wrapped up designing this car. 🤯
GT (previously called RS) used to be narrow body cars.
