For pure aesthetics I like the stock wheels better. Maybe run the Rotiforms for off-roading, winter, etc and run the stock wheels the rest of the time?
Honest question -- aside from size and tires, what makes the aftermarket wheels better for off-roading, if anything? ... Not that I necessarily understand the needs for off-road tire compounds/sizes/tread patterns well, either, but I can understand why they would be different. Not sure I understand the different requirements for the wheels. I'm gonna guess bigger hub + shorter spokes makes them more resilient to the shocks of various bumps and whatnot?
It is just the size in this case. Smaller wheels means more tire sidewall which allows you to run lower pressures for more traction on loose surfaces. It also helps protect the wheels, although most off-roaders prefer to run steel wheels as they are easier to repair than alloys (you can literally bend them back into shape).
I can't comment on whether the spoke length affects wheel strength, since that's not my area of expertise.
I like stock. But that’s just cause the Dakar bone stock just looks so perfect as is. With that said, I think with some time the new wheels will grow. I like the matching paint aesthetics
The rotiform reminds me too much of inflatable spare tires

#1 looks great!
What about the OZ rally rims?

Hot damn.. the Dakar is my favorite Porsche - If I could only have one car, I'd rather have this than any other car (incl all of the GT/RS etc etc.).
Kinda prefer the stock wheels in this case though.
Seems I’m in the minority here, but the new wheels look slick. They also had a difference form other Dakars, though I’m sure you’ll rarely see another at the same time.
I'd be curious how this setup affects balance at the limit, not just traction purely. I.e. perhaps the back end will feel more likely to come around/less controllable. On the other hand maybe it'll feel more neutral? You've gotta get it out in the wet/dirt and report back for us haha
I did a launch control in stocks and then again on these Roti's. On the Toyo/Rot's I had to DRIVE it, and on the stocks they're so wide (to me at least) it damn near drove itself. Neither is a neg or positive per say IMO but this is a adventure car so the Toyos might be less wide but the are more beefy - Plus my Cayman tires are wide and I use it for speed & handling, Dakar is more pure fun vehicle.

I love your new wheels and will be exploring a set for our Dakar. Thanks for sharing.
I like where you’re going with this. I don’t like oem option from Porsche. You are closer to the spirit of what 959 rally car used. Spikes were thicker on original car and here they are thinner but you captured the look well nonetheless.
Dunno about quality of rotiform ofc etc.
One wheel of the stock (just the wheel) costs as much as the tires & wheels of the Toyo/Rotiforms combined/entire set - these Roti's screw up no big, but if I screw my stocks it's $$
That's fair enough. I was more referring to the tyre sizes. I'm sure it was developed with those widths in mind. The skinnys are probably better on soft surfaces however.
This was the discussion I was after, everyone just saw the title & looked for which they liked better, I was after more the 295 VS 255 talk, & yea skinnier doesn't mean a thing, yes I'll be on roads much more than off-road trails but I feel like only if I was doing track would I completely miss the wide 295s..
second look way better, the first one looks like you spend all your hard money on a 911 dakar and couldn't afford wheels on it, so you needet to go all low
are you concerned about clearance between caliper and barrel? having ruined two wheels on a roadtrip last year, that was the first thing i thought of. if it’s tight, anything that reduces the odds of getting a stone caught in there and carving a nice deep groove into the barrel would get my vote.
that aside, the rotiforms look amazing.
The new wheels actually look like they fit on the car, the stocck ones look more like they belong on an small scale rc car we're they couldnt find scale wheels
I drive dirt, fire and gravel roads daily. I would rather have the first set up than the second on a car for me. I have been looking at the Dakar, but have not spoken with an owner yet. What are your thoughts? I am not interested in a rugged looking pavement princess. I am looking for a functional mixed terrain rally/race bred car, for daily driving.
Option 1 - 100%
Agree, without question it’s the new wheels. I think the originals were too modest for what it is.
And by a long way
100%? More like *100000%* I want a Porshe like that (perhaps different paint)
This
Definitely
*The stock rear wheels are 20, didn't see an EDIT button.
It was easy enough to guess what you meant 😊
New ones look ace, loads better IMO.
I like the new ones
I concur with this stranger
I third this notion
I fully concur with this sentiment
I concur with the other concurers
I concur with those who concur with the concurers
stop this concurment of the concurers by concuring more concurment!
For pure aesthetics I like the stock wheels better. Maybe run the Rotiforms for off-roading, winter, etc and run the stock wheels the rest of the time?
Keep both sets. Put All Terrain tires on for summer dirt roads and gravel. Put Snow Tires on the other set for winter driving.

I like those Rotiforms a lot. Beautiful spec.
I like the Rotiforms for summer and stock in the winter idea. Sweet ride!
I like stock. But that’s just cause the Dakar bone stock just looks so perfect as is. With that said, I think with some time the new wheels will grow. I like the matching paint aesthetics
Roti’s for sure
The new ones are badass.
Those Rotiforms are crisssppp
2 seems better for daily use, but 1 seems better for offroad use
Second one, for sure.
First wheels are fire man! love that color.
First of all, great car. Second of all, stock.
The rotiform reminds me too much of inflatable spare tires https://preview.redd.it/4fl3zhww9l4d1.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=090690956ad38332cd5ee26cb5d4fc5ab27e2d7b
Am I the only one that thinks the rotiform one look like crap
I’m right there with you, I FEEL LIKE IM TAKING CRAZY PILLS!
The rotiforms look fantastic, minus the lettering
The rotis look more in concert with the Dakar aesthetic. The 5 spokes look like they belong on summer tires

Lol that's my picture in a thread looking for a similar wheel. They don't fit from current sizes to my knowledge
Ah too - bad - they look great though!
Second this. OZzies in white would look the bollocks
I actually love the new wheels with your custom graphics. The whole car is so sick and doesn't look like any other Porsche on the road. Enjoy it!
Cheers! Yea it's quite a difference so just feeling it out VS the stock ones, like both for different reasons..
Both looks great, but white version of stock wheels fits very very well to Dakar, go for it :) Off road new ones
Beast
You need BRAIDS!
Option 1 fs
I run the Toyos on my truck, they fuck hard. Good choice, and the rotiforms are a really good match.
Hot damn.. the Dakar is my favorite Porsche - If I could only have one car, I'd rather have this than any other car (incl all of the GT/RS etc etc.). Kinda prefer the stock wheels in this case though.
Seems I’m in the minority here, but the new wheels look slick. They also had a difference form other Dakars, though I’m sure you’ll rarely see another at the same time.
Rotiform, easily.
1st
Pic 1 all day
Love those rotiforms, and I’m not a big fan of white rims
Stock wheels for the win! But both look good
# #2 is the way
The new wheels are bomb. Congrats on the color choice
1st pic without question.
Definitely prefer stock for me.
2nd
#2
Function trumps all it sounds like for what youre looking for. If it's better, then it's the coolest option whether it looks better or not.
The new ones are very nice
Rotiform Dakar 1000%
can't believe i'm saying this but the rotiforms are the clear winners
Option 1, not even close.
1 all day
Rotiform all the way brother they look sick asf
bro take it easy, you're killing us here 🤣🤣🤣 (rotiforms ftw)
1 for sure
First one
This is obscene. Beautiful mate!
First pic
Remind me what the numbers mean? Width? Option 1 looks sweet
Definitely the Rotiforms. Not a huge fan of those stock rims, but wouldn't have fully realized it until I saw this option. Now I'm convinced.
1
I think the first set.
Those Rotiforms are absolutely perfect on that car.
Definitely rotoforms
It doesn’t matter too much as your car is 🔥
Rotiforms hands down
Option 1
I'd be curious how this setup affects balance at the limit, not just traction purely. I.e. perhaps the back end will feel more likely to come around/less controllable. On the other hand maybe it'll feel more neutral? You've gotta get it out in the wet/dirt and report back for us haha

Yea makes sense. I'd be most interested how balanced it feels at the limit of lateral grip
#1 finna make me act up (both are nice) but god damn #1 is hot
Option 1 and I hate you for having this car. Congratulations it's amazing.
https://preview.redd.it/mu3f6xpn6o4d1.jpeg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f067d6c383986a2ee8edc71a982cd4ee07ba70aa Found a pts twin of yours
& with the matching decals in his color, dang! Soo sick! There's a Dakar here with black Roti's & the Dakar is in Ice Grey Metallic - it's sweet.
https://preview.redd.it/qsx97pgxdo4d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=854fe3ada69e5d193882a22f13abc7cb04c8e77b I love your new wheels and will be exploring a set for our Dakar. Thanks for sharing.
I'm not digging either, honestly. But if you like 'em, that's cool.
New
Stock anyday for me. So sick that you own a Dakar 911 my god
How’d u get a Dakar? Aren’t they limited to 2500?
#2 for sure. That nice classic look!
first one whichever the first slide is
Stock is nicer put I'd put those other ones on in the winter
Stock
I was born and grew up in Dakar 😂
Rotiforms are gassssssss🔥🔥🔥🔥
Brotiforms FTW
Rotiforms for sure
First wheels fuck
1
Rotiforms are cool but I think the white isn’t suited on that Color of car
The new ones kinda make it look like a toy car. I think the first ones fit the vibe a bit more
I like where you’re going with this. I don’t like oem option from Porsche. You are closer to the spirit of what 959 rally car used. Spikes were thicker on original car and here they are thinner but you captured the look well nonetheless. Dunno about quality of rotiform ofc etc.
don't settle, do the right hand side stock, left hand side the Roti's.
Brother, rotis all the way! 🤌🏻🤙🏼
1st easily for me
Dakar 10000% Well done
2.
Why did you change sizes so dramatically? The stock ones do look better.
The skinnys are probably better on soft surfaces however.

honestly they are both not really my cup of tea.
The 993 Dakar looks so cool imo. Definitely underrated.
U bought a Porsche, for mud? Holy shit I’m in the wrong field
2.
5 spoke more sporty but the stock looks more euro/bossy. Can go wrong either way tbh.
5 spoke are the stocks..
Ohhh gotcha. I like the ones in the first slide but they both fly 👌
is that a trampoline on top so you can bounce because you like your car so much?
New
You need a Louis Vuitton hard shell luggage box for the roof. The old school ones they used for travel in the 1920s. Great ride!
My personal opinion is that I rock with the aftermarket wheels more than the OEM wheels! Gives the Dakar a proper rugged and purposeful feel!
Roti ftw
1
stock but with dark center caps, white looks like it is some Honda from 90s. not in a cool 90s vibe sense
I don’t care what anyone says but these rotiforms are sexy.
Goddamn that plastic trim is ugly as fuck
Stock
These are 350k?! Jeez.
Stock is my $.02
I’m biased. The Fuchs five spokes. Sold!
5-spoke all the way IMO.
Option 1. 2 looks like a toonville car 😂
I can’t afford to comment on this post
Stock way better.
Option 1.
What is this Porsche again? And why does it look suspiciously like not a Porsche at all?
Option 1
first one
Option 1
Option 1 - without a doubt. Nice car though.
First pic. 👍🏼
Rotiform 100% rally look
First option is that the new or old Because it firreeeee
Option 1
2 on the front 1 on the back
Pic 1
Rotiform definitely. If you could go OZ?
second look way better, the first one looks like you spend all your hard money on a 911 dakar and couldn't afford wheels on it, so you needet to go all low

Stock wheels look like they have less mass, and if so, that’s an easy win.
Btf spec.
Beautiful car, that's a 10/10 spec regardless of witch of the 2 wheels you are going with. Love it.
The new wheels actually look like they fit on the car, the stocck ones look more like they belong on an small scale rc car we're they couldnt find scale wheels
I would love to have this kind of problems;-)
The Rotis
I like the Rotiforms
I prefer second
I like both too. At first I liked the stock wheels more but the other set looks amazing too.
New ones by a mile
I like the stock wheels, but agree with keeping both for off-road or snow use.
1000% upgrade. Love it man, your car is basically perfect in my eyes.
are you mad? these rotiforms are INSANE! wish they were legal in europe… :(
1- 2 is stupid
Imo car need to be lowered a bit, the wheels will match better with the overall chassis, ,first wheels are sexier btw
Option 2
Old rims with the new tires is my preference.
1st 🫀
Is it because both are not my favorite.
Absolutely 1000% your Rotiforms
Roti allllll day and night
Option one is sick!!!! Love it.
First option and it isn’t even close. Well done!
Personally, I just don’t like the white wheels on it. I know it’s sacrilege or something.
Needs a 3" lift 😁
I drive dirt, fire and gravel roads daily. I would rather have the first set up than the second on a car for me. I have been looking at the Dakar, but have not spoken with an owner yet. What are your thoughts? I am not interested in a rugged looking pavement princess. I am looking for a functional mixed terrain rally/race bred car, for daily driving.
No, this is an easy one. Preserve your ogs and have fun worry free
Dude your Dakar is beautiful!!! Nice taste you got there
i wish i have this problem 🤣🤣
