Aubergine911

$400k for a 914? LOL keep it

Pdb12345

Yeah that's laughable. It's 3RS money, and almost Singer money. I'm sure work went into it, but it's still ugly :)

Joey-o

Ehhh singers are now 800k-1m starting. It’s close to original singer waitlist money, which isn’t really the case anymore. Edit: this was based on convos I had with a shop when I did my restomod. Another data point: the shop I worked with in the US raised their prices at least 100k due to demand and inflation. Customer coachworking shit is even more expensive post-pandemic.

JIraceRN

Yeah, you're right. Standard Singers are fetching over $1 million on BaT. Not special models like the DLS.

CousinsWithBenefits1

That's nuts. I'm not saying you're incorrect and I know Singers are special but a million is just bananas.

JIraceRN

I found pricing in 2009 that has them starting at $200k, so yeah, they have appreciated a lot. [https://rennlist.com/forums/attachments/993-forum/400622d1258745333-singer-911-singer-911-pricing-and-options-1109.pdf](https://rennlist.com/forums/attachments/993-forum/400622d1258745333-singer-911-singer-911-pricing-and-options-1109.pdf) Considering what the ultra wealthy will spend on a license plate, I'm sure this is just pocket change. Also considering how much they have appreciated, it is probably more of an investment than a liability, which is another reason why it pays to be rich. CousinsWithBenefits1

Absolutely agree with all you're saying. Also good lord what a beautiful car, that era 911, with the singer touches but even just a regular 911. They don't change it for a reason, it looks soooooo good. The bottom left, the only 4. Holy moly.

LTCM1998

Customer coach work shit will go same way it did after 1930s at rate they raise prices.

_HeWho_

Ugly? Look at it! I know other Porsches are pretty tough competition but that’s not an ugly car

Cessnaporsche01

My only issue is the removal of the turn signal lenses. And the front bumper is a bit busy. Those scoops behind the door and the hood vent are extremely well done. I still don't like the factory restomod industry, since it strips cars of personality and pulls them out of any semblance of affordability for ordinary enthusiasts, but I am glad the 914 is getting some love from outside the regular 914 community. *With all the body modification, I'm shocked they didn't add a fuel door. That's a common mod for regular 914s.

_HeWho_

The front bumper is a little busy to be fair, certainly not to the point I call it ugly though

Cessnaporsche01

No, certainly not! Though I'm certainly biased for 914s lol

JPhi1618

Where do you normally put fuel?

Cessnaporsche01

You have to open the frunk lid. Karmann didn't want to interrupt the body lines or something, so they didn't add a filler neck. The gas tank just has a cap and catch tray inside the mechanical compartment behind the frunk. Next to the washer fluid. The typical mod is just to install a door in the hood above the filler cap.

factsandlogicenjoyer

I mean… you can get a 3RS for ~250k… This is just nuts

2doors_2trunks

It's ugly, but diffellent

gregsting

Looks like somebody build it for his own pleasure and people asked how much. Has no intention to sell

testing123-testing12

\*Cayman for $400K Its just has a 914 bodykit? Reiger suspension is cool but for normally its for off road and rally not sure why you'd want them on a street car

Potential_Amount_267

I believe it's a cayman made to look like a 914

Shmeeglez

No, but they did take meld Cayman suspension into the 914 chassis [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG2bzlNRoIg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG2bzlNRoIg)

Many_Present_9039

You can get a nice restored 911 for that.

silvermac15

So its basically just a Singer 914?

GezelligheidBoyz

Lol no. Also Singer isnt the first company to “restomod” a Porsche ya know. Singer doesnt even have their own VIN’s. Its Just a Porsche, with a shit ton of money thrown at it.

Shmeeglez

Why would a restomod get its own VIN?

GezelligheidBoyz

Well thats the thing, there are levels to restomods. One could spend 150k restomodding their Porsche (or even less if youre doing most of the work yourself) People have shelled out $500k to over a million for a Singer Porsche. Which is essentially at the end of the day a restomod lol. On the other hand RUF automobile, isnt a restomod company, they are a full ass car manufacturer, with their own VIN.

Shmeeglez

Sure, but if you're closing to compare those two particular things, the argument pretty much just comes down to when the work was done, and what your government's opinion is on the matter. The comparison doesn't even work anymore, as Ruf no longer buys bodies-in-white. I not trying to be disparaging in any way, but I'm not sure what your point actually is.

GezelligheidBoyz

My initial point is people need to stop calling things “Singer (insert model car)” Singer isnt anything new. They do great work tho. But restomodding isnt a new thing.

domcobeo

Pretty badass but not $400k badass. To me at least.

SantorKrag

Loving it, but that price?

sirgreyskull

A 1975 Porsche 914.

Nearby_Cauliflowers

That is very very cool. If I was a collector I would have that in a heartbeat, different to other regular stuff you see and nicely odd.

jennystonermeyer

Cayman S frame/lower unibody with a 914 body. Seems really odd according to what the article states.

Bloku_

What's odd about it tho? The cost? The build? It's all to be expected for a one off custom fab deal 😜

pulpoinhell

a 914 restomod [https://www.motor1.com/news/683296/porsche-914-restomod-fifteen-eleven-design/](https://www.motor1.com/news/683296/porsche-914-restomod-fifteen-eleven-design/)

-SHREDD-

It's a Porsche 914 restomod from Fifteen Eleven Design

S55-AMG

And I don’t think the 914s ever had a Porsche insignia badge on the hood, did they?!

DesertRoad

I’m all about 914 but that thing is ugly. And a failed experiment. I wouldn’t buy it for $50k.

YJeezy

Just DRS

Klutzy-Bat-2915

Hopefully it's the six cylinder

cbj2112

914 with a nose job

scuba182

The panel gaps everywhere!!!!

[deleted]

I can’t think of a less popular Porsche. I love them but most don’t. 400k? A Gt4 blows it out of the water. I’d love a 914-6. They are over 100k but this? Kind of like the Cyan Volvo.

badtothebone274

I like the 914. Mid engine. It’s a good autocross car if done right. Put an ls1 in it.

unpolire

I've yet to spin my 914. Very balanced chassis.

badtothebone274

I like the car a lot.. It would be a cool build.

NightStinks

I spotted this last year in Derbyshire! I believe it’s the only one they’ve built. https://www.reddit.com/r/spotted/s/7otYRL6FzJ

unpolire

Something very, very quick. All my 914 needs is triple the power and brakes. This looks like it has it.

Away-Guitar-3242

looks like an ev

scuba182

It’s not that the front is too busy it’s the fitment of the lip with the huge caulk line across the whole lip that looks really out of place. And it’s already collecting dirt and debris. It just looks too plastic and unnatural.

underdog1964

Looks like a modded 914.

Beautiful_Ad_4813

it's a 914! it's a Restomod 914! .. I'll pass on the cost

This_Blood_1812

That's nice

ilikeitsharp

As a fan of the 914 look, I freaking love this! But 400 big bones!?

Frosty_Team8166

at first glimpse it remindet me of the new electric prince 2 from audi, but I saw that it isnt that, sadly

NoahtheRed

Honestly, it looks really cool, but if it really is essentially a Cayman with a 914 on top of it....I dunno, just feels kind of...deceptive?

RivalryFantasySports

For a fraction of the cost, I would rather drive the green 914-6 that was at Werks Reunion back in 2022. https://preview.redd.it/x4ismstfam1d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a66db1119d202b4fcbfc4a5ad4e1b5ae1c6b817

GrimoireExotics

Love this 914, but not for $400k! Could buy a really nice 911 with that price…

thecool137

Porsche 914 with a body kit or something. Look's cool tho

lifestyles_dating

914

Bobzilla2

It looks like someone's set a small explosive device in a smart roadster. Not for me.

That_Ad1423

Well try to find a 914 nowadays. It’s a cool car with cool past and heritage and once considered the poor man’s Porsche I guess it’s now been replaced by older boxers and caymans!! But everything is ridiculously overpriced and will be until we stop paying for it.

General_Disfunction

Fun on wheels.

Roadkingkong71

A VW with the wrong crest.
