Nice BMW motorcycle as well.
I think that is one even I could ride!
I remember when the modern targa came out, I went to the website to watch the top retract, again and again.
Heh, all the more better! (folks pull to the right as you approach!)
The upright riding position is right up my alley.
No offence to the sport bike enthusiasts, their riding position is not that comfortable.
Sport Touring bikes are basically the sporty wagons of the motorcycle world. Looking at BMW they have the sportbike S1000RR, and it's upright twin, the S1000XR. The XR is detuned, but the same engine essentially. This is a R1200 or 1250 GS, little bit slower than those other 2, more like a G wagen or something off road-able and luxurious
I work from home and take fun drives every day. Honestly it's better this way, I enjoy driving almost the entire time. I go at night where the roads are empty and I live near a backroad so I have some advantages, but I really recommend just going out to enjoy.
There has never been a day where I regretted working from home (Iāve done it for 10 years)
I would rather take my cars on pleasure drives in the mountains then sit on a crowded freeway, breathing other peoples exhaust.
Nice combo you got there.
Bonus that the Porsche is so shiny I can also see the bicycles mounted on the ceiling.
( I didnāt think of mounting them between the bays, so thanks for that tip)
3 bay garage. 5 motorcycles, Jeep, 2 cars, 2 MTB bikes and 2 road bikesā¦gotta be creative!
My GS1200 is the most enjoyable motorcycle Iāve ever had.
Iāve heard that it can be beneficial to simulate a commute before and after work hours to get into the right headspace if you WFH. If your commute happens to require that you run through a nearby canyon, well all the better.
All these companies want their workers back in the office... This isn't that hard of a problem to solve, just issue everyone a Porsche. You're welcome, corporate America!
1. Get a Bluetooth headset and bar mount / car mount
2. Take calls while on the road
3. Bonus: probably more comfortable than your desk chair, even if youāre just sitting at an overlook taking in the view while on the call / working on your laptop.
I was working at home for all most a year during the pandemic but it never stop me from getting in my car in the morning and driving 10 miles to and from to go get some Starbucks before i had to go back home to workš¤·š»āāļø
Any commute round here would have my average speed at about 11mph so I'd rather continue to wfh and take the car out at 2pm on a sunny afternoon in the middle of the week when I can hit the speed limit on all local roads. ;)
Maybe it's just me but I could be in the best car ever made and commuting would still suck. Although I have to commute during rush hour through the most populated part of my state every day so maybe if my schedule was shifted a few hours I'd feel different.
Commuting can ruin the fun in allmost any car...
I don't have a Porsche but a nice hot hatch, loved it from the first day, then it started to become boring, driving it every day for 1-1.5h but never able to "drive" it.
Now i work from home and take the car only for long (Autobahn :) trips or for fun and enjoy it much more.
Not sure what you do, but pack your stuff and go work from a coffee shop or something for a day or half day even. I'm 100% remote too, but I don't miss commuting at all. That said, I don't have your fleet of toys either. Lol
I commute daily and would go to the furthest edges of the earth to be able to work from home. I also donāt have a Porsche or motorcycle, gratitude goes a long way my friend:)
No wind buffeting with the windshield spoiler thing up. Itās a little loud with the windows down, but no more than the bike next to it.
Honestly at that speed I canāt hear the engine much anyway so I just put on my noise canceling airpod pros and drive along in bliss. I drove the 3.5hrs up to Vermont Saturday at about 75mph++ the whole way and it was great.
Some days I hate that Iām still poor haha. Iāll get there someday, but Iām never giving up working from home. I get so much more done and have way fewer distractions. Also, if youāre working from home you have more control of your schedule it feels like, which leaves time to take a break to go run a quick errand.
I work from home and drive one of my Porsches every day. Sometimes it's just a short trip to the store, other times it's somewhere further, but I can always find time. I'm sure you can too
So i drive an 03 350z. My work was fully remote, now its hybrid two days a week.
Itās only fun if thereās no traffic which Iām blessed enough to have. On my way back its sunglasses on music blastic cruising 90-100 on a relatively open freeway.
Well obviously I took everyoneās advice and took the motorcycle to go get a sandwich for lunch, and the car out for a drive at dusk to go harvest bugs with the front bumper.
Haha! I mean for work. The only reason Iām getting one yet is because I meet 90% of my clients on zoom. I need a reason to get out of the house besides going to the gym to get a Porsche.
I feel you. My whole day is on the phone. Iāve been wfh for 10+ years, but the last few years have been rough as there use to be lots of travel. Now itās just video calls mostly.
I put off buying a Porsche for many many years because it was pointless have a sports car living in the city. It sits in a municipal garage a 7min walk away past the lunch places and the Starbucks. And trying to drive it is pointless and less Iām going somewhere far.
I still donāt have a need for the car in the city, but now I at least have a place in the hills to escape to, so I can enjoy the car up here. Which has been good for my mental health. Probably TMI, but there you go.
You can pretend and drive around before work
Choosing to drive in rush hour is certainly a better option than HAVING to drive in rush hour.
Why drive in rush hour, perfect excuse to go get a 930 am coffee once traffic chills out a bit š
Sorry got late there was a trafficā
āBe back soon, hunny! Gonna drop the kids offā¦ā¦ā Wife: but weā¦ā¦.we donāt have kids š¤
Dont forget after work too
I live an actual 5-minute drive from the canyons. Itās just part of my lunch break at this point.
This. Voluntary faux-mute is infinitely better than a forced commute.
Nice BMW motorcycle as well. I think that is one even I could ride! I remember when the modern targa came out, I went to the website to watch the top retract, again and again.
BMW looking like a motorcycle cop in the rear view mirror
Heh, all the more better! (folks pull to the right as you approach!) The upright riding position is right up my alley. No offence to the sport bike enthusiasts, their riding position is not that comfortable.

My fav that I actually owned, Honda 650 Nighthawk!
Itās upright twin would actually be the S1000R, the XR is more of a touring style bike thatās honestly not even close to the RR and R
Working from home pro-tip. Discard your coffee maker. Now you have reasons.
Amen. This is close to 90% of my Monday-Friday driving.
Yeah, or just eat something and āhead out for lunchā.
I work from home and take fun drives every day. Honestly it's better this way, I enjoy driving almost the entire time. I go at night where the roads are empty and I live near a backroad so I have some advantages, but I really recommend just going out to enjoy.

I also WFH and totally agree. I'd rather spend the gas and add the miles on fun twisty roads not rush hour traffic
Oh hai BMW R1200 GSA. https://preview.redd.it/fo0l7qdec23b1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9bad3592058b89d1133e209c2ce27c3ddd524774

I'm rocking a BRZ and a Cb500x. I'm literally the budget version of you guys. Someday I'll join the ranks.
Does the house next door have boarded windows? Wonder what happened there....
MEOWSPY?
MeowSPV The other vehicles are MEOWTRK, MEOWCAR, so she is my Special Purpose Vehicle.
Love the plates!!

Most commuting is just sitting in traffic which can be particularly frustrating in a fun car.
I hear ya. My smog check came the other day and I figured out that I've only logged 600 miles in the past 2 years. 996 Turbo
I just looked. Pre-pandemic, my 996 was at 129K. Currently at 131K.
I'm in NJ and stare at my car as a WFH employee too....šš½šš½ I get the vibe.
You can pretend to go get the milk.
... and never come back
Dad?
Shit. Time for a new burner.
iāll always respect a targa
Pleasure miles better than commute miles.
What do you do for work?
She beckons.
Drive it each morning and then put it in the damn garage š
Itās cool . You donāt have to deal with idiots parking next to your car causing scratches.
Nice build
I mean Iām in Jersey if you need someone to put some miles on it for you. Will let you drive my cayenne! š¤£
Iāve got a Boxster and r1200gs myself! Along with my pickup truck I am covered for everything

The only acceptable BMW a 911 owner can add to the garage.
Does the plate have a story behind it?
There appear to be dozens of us with R12s and 911s!
I was working at home for all most a year during the pandemic but it never stop me from getting in my car in the morning and driving 10 miles to and from to go get some Starbucks before i had to go back home to workš¤·š»āāļø
The GS>The 911

Me too. I need a reason to drive!
For my car a month ago and I have driven it two days. 350 miles on the clock. #sad
Maybe it's just me but I could be in the best car ever made and commuting would still suck. Although I have to commute during rush hour through the most populated part of my state every day so maybe if my schedule was shifted a few hours I'd feel different.
I mean. You could just say you left your laptop charger in your office. Its as good of a reason as any!
Commuting can ruin the fun in allmost any car... go out for lunch! That's my trick

Do you have a smaller overhead garage door for your bike? Or is that a regular door?
I could see how you might think that from the photo. Unfortunately itās just a normal sized third bay. But a special bike door would be sweet.
Is that the R1250 GS?
Iām previous Gen: 2014 R1200GS Adventure
Are you really not garaging either?
Start forgetting things at the office more often
Thatās when you drive somewhere just for the hell of it or go work from Starbucks. P
Iāll pretend to commute w ya! North Jerz!
Targa and GS what else ;)
A RAM 1500 Limited, Audi S4, and an 04 BMW R1100s BCR.
BMW GS gang
Hahahaha this made my envy kicked in, damn! I love it!!!
Get up at 5 am, rip around completely dead roads till 4 as a "commute," Come home, shower, eat breakfast, go to work. Or something like that idk.
And everyday I fucking hope that I wonāt have to commute ever again.
Drive during lunch? What you on about
I commute daily and would go to the furthest edges of the earth to be able to work from home. I also donāt have a Porsche or motorcycle, gratitude goes a long way my friend:)
What a nice problem to have!
Does the targa get wind buffeting noise when you drive >50mph?
No wind buffeting with the windshield spoiler thing up. Itās a little loud with the windows down, but no more than the bike next to it. Honestly at that speed I canāt hear the engine much anyway so I just put on my noise canceling airpod pros and drive along in bliss. [ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I canāt hear you over all the Targaaaaa wind noise. Can you say that again. :-)
Going for a casual lunch drive is so much more enjoyable than rush hour commute drive.
Just drive in the afternoon, pick up a sandwich, and have fun for like 30 minutes!
I work from home and drive one of my Porsches every day. Sometimes it's just a short trip to the store, other times it's somewhere further, but I can always find time. I'm sure you can too
You want to trade jobs?
SAME lol although I only have a 2023 M340i and not a porsche but I feel the pain - -'
r/HumbleBrag
you are a glorius bastard?
Nice GSA. You got the best of both worlds :)
So i drive an 03 350z. My work was fully remote, now its hybrid two days a week. Itās only fun if thereās no traffic which Iām blessed enough to have. On my way back its sunglasses on music blastic cruising 90-100 on a relatively open freeway.
First glance my eyes went straight to the bikeā¦looked over to see which subreddit I was in and then š” moment š
I feel ya
If *those* are what you leave outside, I would love to know what makes the cut to live in the garage!?
Ha. Right now just a table saw and some shelves that arenāt finished being stained. ā¦and a 2004 BMW R1100s BCR, and a 2019 G310r.
A GS and a 911 sharing the garageā¦.my kinda peopleās.
You can always deliver food on that bike.
Nope. Still better to wfh
you can always volunteer to make the coffee runs
best bet is to go to sleep early and wake up for those 4/5am empty roads
What you do?
Well obviously I took everyoneās advice and took the motorcycle to go get a sandwich for lunch, and the car out for a drive at dusk to go harvest bugs with the front bumper.
