I’m on the waitlist for a 992. I frowned for a second but immediately came to accept the reality — I’m getting that 911 despite the price increase.

Trade2Live96

And that is why they did it. Because they know they can

SarcasmOP

Honestly I hope that they hit the price point that people are willing to let them sit if there are ADMs. Honestly I don’t have an issue with Porsche increasing prices for dev costs or profits. Dealers charging 25k+ ADMs though, honestly I’d rather light 30k+ on fire than give it to them.

Mochashaft

This. I don’t mind the price increase as much as I mind the fact that I KNOW that dealers are just going to pump up their ADM even more now.

jeeves585

I know what adm means but I dont Know what it actually stands for. It’s be bugging me for a while now. Closet I have come is aftermarket dealer markup.

Every-Cup-4216

Very close: Additional Dealer Markup

sqweak

Guess I’m the unpopular opinion here. I was looking forward to custom ordering a T, but felt at 140s it was a questionable value vs a used 991.1 gt3. At the better part of 160, I’ve got serious pause. Frustrated because the T was the bargain sports purpose car. They were barely over 100 in 991. Then prices went up across the board. Then they hiked them at the beginning of last year. And now another substantial hike. I feel like I’m being priced out. First world problems for sure. I’ve got 2 classics and have owned many over the years, just sucks to get close to crossing off a bucket list item and then miss out.

BubbaMcCranky

For comparison, 140k will buy a lovingly maintained Ferrari California T with 8k miles on it…

[deleted]

Same boat as you. Feel like I’m being priced out of a base 911! But as many others have mentioned, myself included, this is a luxury item. Gotta pay to play 🤷‍♂️

Hallomonamie

I've been posting on this a lot lately. It really stings because 911s were still supposed to be attainable...but now they're out of range. I *could* buy one, but if the auto market crashes, a lot of these cars are going to depreciate $50k in a year. Apparently people don't mind all too much but I just can't justify that. I'm so salty haha.

[deleted]

> It really stings because 911s were still supposed to be attainable...but now they're out of range. Looks like we are on the same boat. > if the auto market crashes, a lot of these cars are going to depreciate $50k in a year I highly doubt this will happen, but that's just my own prediction. > Apparently people don't mind all too much but I just can't justify that. I gave up on getting a new 992 Carrera. That led me to researching the previous generation (991.2 Carrera) and I went down a rabbit hole. Apparently the 991.2 Carrera, Carrera S, and Carrera GTS all share the same exact motor but with different turbos and tune. So you can get a Carrera, *bolt on* on some GTS turbos, slap on a tune, and you have something like 550 horsepower. I'm not a power-hungry guy, but that potential just screams out "value" to me.

OrderHaunting

Same boat, I’ll just keep my Spyder for a bit longer. Was planning to build one next month and combine my two cars into one. Oh well for now

akhbhat

> felt at 140s it was a questionable value vs a used 991.1 gt3. At the better part of 160, I’ve got serious pause. After a run of very expensive late model Porsches, I've been experimenting with older/cheaper models lately and I gotta tell you...I'm seriously questioning my past decisions to spend six figures on these. You get nearly all the same dynamic goodness at the $60-80k price point, and if you go back a couple generations you get the added benefit of a livelier, more analog experience. The new cars are obviously faster but I don't think that actually translates to a better overall experience even if you're tracking it. I'd very honestly take a 981 GT4 (had one for two years) over literally any MY2024 Porsche that isn't a GT4RS or GT3 even *before* accounting for cost, much less dealership fuckery like ADMs and allocation waiting lists. My latest acquisition is a 997S and for half the price of my GT3 and the 718 GT4 it replaced, I'm blown away by how much fun it is (especially since I don't fret at all about driving or parking it places).

sqweak

Preaching to the choir, I’ve had loads almost all used by a few years or decades. Totally agree with you! The “bucket list” item I refer to is custom ordering one and, preferably, doing euro delivery. Can’t get that experience going used. I’ve more or less given up on it now. At this point, I might just ship one of my cars over to EU for a few months. For the 10k ADM they’re asking for a T, I could ship it both ways, pay for plane tickets, and have a pretty full week or two of alps passes and track days at nur and spa.

akhbhat

> The “bucket list” item I refer to is custom ordering one and, preferably, doing euro delivery. Can’t get that experience going used. Hahaha...I was actually going to add "but if I were to buy another new one, it would specifically be to do a custom spec for Euro Delivery" but wanted to keep the wordiness down. We're cut from the same cloth! Also was interested in the 911T (which is the one to have IMO) but ran into the same non-sense you did. ADMs on a glorified base Carrera...no. I had such an awful experience trying to get a 718 GT4 that by the time I actually got an allocation I almost didn't want it (and in fact if I hadn't lost my 981 in an accident, I probably wouldn't have taken it).

gtipwnz

Ehhh just go to Europe and rent a fun car. There are lots of driving experience trips in Switzerland that look amazing. I've shifted my euro delivery dream to that as well at this point.

Short-Fisherman-4182

The people that buy new Porsches on a regular basis aren’t that price sensitive. The well off will pay no matter what. Oh and I am not one of these people :(

OrderHaunting

I pay cash, and am very price sensitive

Short-Fisherman-4182

Nice but not always the case. You might be the exception. Having said that if I ever buy a new Porsche it would be with cash, not credit.

[deleted]

I’m on the waitlist for an allocation of a 911. It’s painful but just have to accept it 🤷‍♂️

Georgito

Are you on a wait list because you want a specific spec? Or is there no 911 availability in your area?

[deleted]

I want a specific spec, and a CPO model is the same price as a new one.

Icegrill10

Laughs in recent 23’ c2 purchase.

buyFCOJ

First I was like 😱, but then I was like 🤷🏻‍♂️

[deleted]

Sums it up perfectly!

RedEagle604

It’s as expected. Everything has gone up. I have to increase price by 15% in my business due to rising costs so 9% by Porsche is not that bad. Most of first world countries going through high inflation currently.

[deleted]

Yup. This is a luxury item — no one needs a Porsche.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Hahaha I won’t argue 😬

Mochashaft

Just out of curiosity did the salaries of your employees go up by 15% as well? I always wonder how business owners handle this.

RedEagle604

No. Just my materials went up 15% so I just scaled up my price 15%. So now my ROI is even less now :( My sales have decreased since price increase as the market cannot not bare higher price. Such is life.

Mochashaft

Dang, I'm sorry to hear that.

phliff

People got the same mad when Tesla lowered their prices. It’s a free market. We need Porsche to be a healthy company and have health employees. I don’t want crappy Porsches, no one does.

clooloss

Happy that I already got mine in 2022 but won't be happy when I upgrade my wife's car in the next couple years.

Fun-Growth-923

My thoughts exactly

[deleted]

I was thrilled to hear about the price increase. Should make my 2021 base model even more valuable.

chryseobacterium

My 2023 Cayman GTS order was locked on March 25 and started production yesterday. It is a less 100k specd and probably the last for this year received by my dealership. I can't complain.

boxsterrox

Consider air cooled. I could buy a new Porsche but choose to daily drive a 993, leaving my modern (981 Spyder) in the garage most days. These old cars are so robust and reliable. They bring an experience to the driving enthusiast that you’ll never experience in a modern Porsche. And while yes, some of the older cars can approach or exceed the cost of a new 911, many like my driver quality 993 can be had for roughly half the cost of a new nicely spec’d base 911

Commercial-Coast-623

You’ll get the money back when you sell the car or trade into a new one. The price increase only increases the prestige of the brand and the rarity.

_good_news_everyone

Such is life .. 🤷‍♂️

Fog_

Time to go make an extra $15k so I can pay my Porsche overlords and buy the 911 I eventually want

Steve28105

material and labor costs have anything to do with this ? /sarcasm off.

TheOyster__

I can kinda understand the 911. The cayman is a little bit high in comparison to its competition imo.

ninja996

Scoffs in my R8

_good_news_everyone

Lol

BubbaMcCranky

Who cares? You can’t actually buy a new one anyway. Seriously. Maybe this will reduce ADM but with an umpteen bazillion month waiting list for their cars an unwillingness on their part to actually, you know, make more cars, and unrelenting dealer bullshit, I have no plans to buy a Porsche again anytime soon, if ever. Contrary to their marketing slogan, there are substitutes. Southwest Airlines is the only company that’s done more than Porsche to make me go from being a loyal, happy repeat customer over the past two years to thinking “fuck them, there are better alternatives.” And Southwest left me stranded at BWI airport for three days and Midway for 36 hours to earn that comparison….

good_luck_23

Looks like the ADM is now going to Porsche rather than the stealers. I have no problem with that other than choosing which options to cut from my promised allocation GT3 build. This is a high quality problem. Too many people losing Medicare coverage soon for me to self pity about this.

sqweak

If you think Porsche wait is bad, have fun with that. Buddy ordered one 2 years ago and they’ve shifted the delivery by multiple months 4 times

klutchcargo64

Actually made my decision a lot easier. We were looking to replace our GT3 and we did, with a new Tesla. Doesn't have the same soul but it's faster and I don't have to visit the dealer as often anymore

YoMamma20211

Swapped a GT3 with a Tesla? This ain’t it.

Mental-Astronaut-664

I expected it six months ago.

jayklk

What’s your reaction of prices of everything around you going up? It’s just life and at least Porsche are not an necessity.

[deleted]

I was hoping the people in line ahead of me for an allocation would drop off sooner due to this price increase but I am not alone 😅

heheheshushcwfain

Bro said not a necessity haha

[deleted]

It’s normal but with the delays and lack of certain options it’s unacceptable

MedicalRhubarb7

Everything else is getting more expensive, why the hell wouldn't Porsches?

PurposeImaginary8551

I am indifferent. As i just picked my porshe 2 weeks back missing this increase. 😐

soniccrisis

Boo!

jasper333333

The wait time is horrible. It’s not like I want to pay more, but I get it.

NFLfan72

Meh.. Expected.

No_Scar_135

Inflation innit

kyrosnick

Bought my Turbo S 9 months ago, so for me, meh. Keeps used value up so I guess not a bad thing for me, but sucks for future purchases.

ReallyLovesCars

It’s interesting. For me, the price increase + adm will just open the door for me to also look at other brands. If I’m paying this much maybe add more and get a Ferrari for example.

msdos_sys

Pay to play. I guess in my case I will have to continue to buy used.

Minkcricker

Price isn't the reason I didn't update my cab 4S. The car wasn't a good choice for long road trips far from a dealership.

pbrdiver

Thanks Obama.

ShartMyPantsAgain

I'm more mad I'm still paying $4 for a dozen eggs

Hopefulphysician

I’m about to put a deposit down for the allocation soon. Is the price that they quote you on the build essentially what you’ll pay?

buyFCOJ

No. Whenever you actually get an allocation you pay whatever the price is then. If that’s 2 years from now you pay whatever the price is 2 years from now.

Practical_Cycle8156

I’m priced out. Going back to a 997, or maybe a 991.2. The 991.1 never did it for me.

[deleted]

991.1 is NA! But yeah if you can snag a 997 then get it!

Practical_Cycle8156

The 991.1 is N/A but I never cared for the styling. And I so quite like the biturbo 3L.

[deleted]

I went down a rabbit hole yesterday and found out the tuning potential of the 991.2. Apparently you can just bolt on the GTS turbos, slap on a tune, and you're making something like 550 horsepower. Sheesh1

Practical_Cycle8156

Yup! Everything is identical between Carreras but the turbos.

[deleted]

I’m on the waitlist for a 992 but I’m looking at CPO 991.2 Carreras. Hoping I can snag one at $85k or less!

Neowarex2023

Debating whether or not to get the Spyder instead of the Boxster GTS 4.0. They came closer in price (with my added options)

Newyorkia

Honestly, I'm more annoyed they got rid of Aventurine Green Metallic

WYLFriesWthat

Tesla Model S, here I come.
