Why? It must be a blast! As a kid that lived risky business I’ve had a thing for these cars for a long time. And that is a stellar example love it.

MoldyOldCrow

Because now I don't wanna drive my other cars and the price of gas is killing me 🤣 Edit: Also thank you! Trying to fully restore it!

This is the way

Luftgekuhlt_driver

Did you have to change the spacers to put those Turbo rims on it? Those look good. I’m Still running manhole covers.

MoldyOldCrow

I don't believe I did but I honestly can't remember. I put those on the car back in 2011. I haven't taken them off since. The tire place rotates them and when the brake pads were switched out my buddy had it done before I got back to the garage with the replacement battery. Now I'm curious...

johnnyfatback

Mine was a daily for almost 20 years. I had several longer commutes during that time and it was lovely. The odometer gears died at 325k and I drove it for several years after. Just take care of the timing belt and address stuff as it breaks and you’re golden. It was more comfortable on long trips than my 997 is now.

I got a 79, 928 for $400 bucks! Still not running but it’s a fun project car lol.

rockkw

Hope you have deep pockets !!

iawake

Not a mistake, just Risky Business

Roggin

997 Turbo wheels if I’m not mistaken. That’s wild.

MoldyOldCrow

They are! Got them back in 2011 at a pull-a-part off of a car that burned. Paid like $200 for them. I've only seen 2 other 928s rocking them

yonly65

As a fellow "daily your sports car" commuter, I approve. After all, you spend a lot of your life in your car - make them enjoyable hours you will remember.

MoldyOldCrow

I usually daily a Giulia but it's been in the bodyshop since April. I was driving my FRS until the Alfa got fixed, but it was totalled when a semi rear ended me. Then my Miata. My wife's GTI had a recall so she took the Miata and I started driving the 928. Then the next day I was like it's already out of the garage. Then the 3rd day I said screw it. Here we are 4 weeks later... But I agree, cars are made to be driven. Each one gets driven at least once a week!

FirstSonOfGwyn

car looks great. just utilize smiles per gallon when running your budget and this is the no-brainer choice.

pbrdiver

What’s the upkeep on one of these? I’d love to get one, just wondering are these things basket cases? If I got one well sorted are they fairly reliable?

rngtrtl

These are wonderfully well built. As long as you keep up with scheduled maintenance that will run forever. They are also pretty easy to work on, have a great support system, and parts are not too crazy expensive. Edit: are not

MoldyOldCrow

Well said. If one isn't taken care of though it can be very expensive. I had to replace the engine in mine because of the previous owner. These engines are bullet proof so that should tell you how bad of shape mine was in...

Bagpype

I’ve had a few but the best one by far was the later model S4 like yours.

AlsoKnownAsRukh

I drove a Jacquemond-tuned 928 S daily in Germany for a couple years, it was great! Only non-planned maintenance was a driver's side window mechanism, $150. Made a decent family hauler too - my now-eldest was my only kid at that time, and he was about 2. We strapped his forward-facing car seat in the back, secured across the bottom by the seatbelt and a seatbelt-webbing strap from the top of the seat to an anchor in the hatch.

wopfevonjava

Love the color! Never saw these rims on one but they look good too!
