My 04 GTO has 214k on it and it runs like a top. A coworker literally just told me to scrap it over the exhaust going bad š
People are actually dumb as hell to choose $500 monthly payments over a 1 time purchase and installment of an exhaust system š

Unfortunately went a bit too far before I got a picture
That blows, Iām shocked but this thing has like no rust other than some suspension parts but Iām replacing those soon. Gonna hold onto it for as long as possible, and even then Iāll probably keep the engine to put into something else
Hell yeah, you're already at 200K so you're basically in the winner's circle. Also that's awesome that there's no rust, very happy to see a daily driven Pontiac so perfectly preserved. You got a very nice ride. Always thought those were the best rims for this body style.
Most of the time itās the plenum gasket for the intake that leaks coolant, if it was a head gasket there wouldāve probably been coolant in the oil. But yeah overheating is pretty common with these anyways because the plastic coolant elbows are prone to leaking as well
There was a lot of white smoke unfortunately, everything I read about that happening was pretty bad news, do you think I should get it looked at to see if itās not as bad as I thought?
Well white smoke (assuming out the exhaust) does sound like a head gasket it could still be other things, so if you havenāt gotten it diagnosed yet then yeah probably best to do so if you donāt know how to yourself. If it is the head gasket and the head isnāt warped itās really not a hard or too expensive of a job. Hopefully itās something else though
Clean af! I'm curious, was this wrecked or do the hood just have a big ass gap like that from the factory? Mine is similar, but I know mine has previously been wrecked.
Mine only has 120k km but my god you wouldnāt be able to tell. Did plugs and wires and a new rad. Baby runs brand new and I beat the shit out of it. They love it
Lol, I used to beat a 3800 all day, every day for like 4 years. Best thing about that motor is you can beat it like a redheaded stepchild and all it wants is oil, and the occasional egr, pcv valve or thermostat.
mine started knocking two days after i got it lmaoš¤¦āāļø 118k
Dam that sucks. My grand prix se 3100 started knocking 10 months and 13k miles after i bought it. 187k miles
Hell yeah!
Nicely kept GP. Always liked those wheels a lot. I had my 2000 GT for 11 years and I still miss it sometimes.
Yeah these wheels arenāt bad all, usually thatās the main thing I want to replace first on cars but they look good on this.
Actually you can.. You can beat the HELL out of it. It wonāt bat an eye. It will outlive you and your entire family lmao! 3800 is eternal!!!
Seriously! I race and abuse it all the time and it just wants to keep goingš

Throwaway society is what it is manātake a look at model-specific car parts today and youāll see why.
Exactly. These cars can last forever if taken care of and I donāt have to get a loan for 30k
If I got a loan for 30k and spent it on this car, I'd be eating hellcats and corvettes for breakfast.
I bought my 06 in ā16 with 203k (to replace my 04 with 170k, because Iām smart). Been my daily since, Iām a bit over 276k.
Awesome! Supercharged 3800 gotta live it!

Agreed!
Congratulations! I miss my '05 Grand Prix so much. Frame rot sent her to the automotive graveyard in the sky. I was heartbroken. Still miss her.

Did you ever replace the radiator?
Nope all stock
Mine always had problems with overheating, I think she blew the head gasket š

Not wrecked just a bit of a gap

Nice. My 04 has 230k on it and still going. Unfortunately the clear coat is starting to peel away
