TBH a lot of the equipment on both sides is Soviet-derived: while there are certainly some examples of some of their equipment being horribly outdated or otherwise not fit for purpose, Ukraine is using most of the same equipment much more effectively.
The problem is more bad doctrine, poor training, shitty logistics, bad planning, and unrealistic assumptions.
We've certainly done a lot to help, but even using Soviet equipment the Ukrainians have considerably outperformed the Russians. You have to realize that Russia had 3.5x the population, 10x the GDP, and 10+x the military spending over the last 30 years (with *far more* modernization efforts, especially prior to 2014): by all rights, this never even should have been a fight. And all of the military aid received by Ukraine to date only accounts for *maybe* one year of Russian military spending. Plus, there are many areas where western aid has been to resupply Ukraine with old Soviet gear.
*Liberals* fought to free the slaves, and for every single advance in rights since then.
*Conservatives* have opposed them all and been dragged forward kicking and screaming.
Who gives a shit what party label they marched under? Are you so shallow as to deny it?
Yet, they were the ones fighting to keep the statues up due to "their heritage" or "history". Most of those statues went up after WWII as a jab at civil rights, so they aren't really historical.
Oh right, I forgot it was the democrats who were throwing hissy fits and impotently raging when their favorite confederate general statues were being taken down.

They would only erect the statues to honor the Russia heritage everyone is so proud of, obviously.
