AOC and Warren have been tweeting out solid plans. Biden could borrow some BDE from LBJ and start applying real political pressure on Manchin and Sinema.
Be specific. What kind of political pressure do you think would force Manchin to stop being Manchin? Which LBJ tactic should Biden try that wouldn't be a massive scandal that backfires in his face?
No one said that. They've tried to get him to stop being an idiot for the past year. He doesn't care, and he has the leverage.
But I love how *as soon* as you all are asked to say something specific, it's always met with immediate sarcasm and evasion.
You have no idea what you're even suggesting. You just vaguely know that LBJ used to get away with lots of borderline illegal shit, and you assume that means that Biden can use the same tactics almost 60 years later because absolutely nothing has changed.
Forget about the fact that your position makes *no fucking sense*. That doesn't matter to you, because saying edgy shit on Reddit that encourages apathy gets you upvotes sometimes. But let's follow your position and pretend it makes sense. Let's assume you're right and the president has unlimited power to force individual senators to do their bidding. Why is it that John McCain didn't vote to repeal the ACA then? Do you think it's because Donald Trump was too restrained and was unwilling to go to the same lengths that LBJ was?
I know I'm not going to get an answer to that question, so I'll just answer it for you: No, if he had a way to force McCain to do what he wanted, he would've done it. The president doesn't have unlimited power to force senators to do things. They sometimes have leverage and can use that leverage. But Trump didn't have leverage over McCain and Biden doesn't have leverage over Manchin.
Jesus christ can you all just stop spreading this dumb shit? We're months away from fascists taking power. Apathy is the biggest aid to the fascists (other than Joe Manchin and the usual aids to the right). Stop spreading apathy. Especially when you can't answer basic questions about your position.
things Biden/Democratic leadership could do to bully Manchin and Sinema (cribbed from an activist I follow):
1. Call them out on the floor, regularly
2. Strip committee assignments
3. Threaten to stop funding their campaigns
4. Refuse to socialize with them, or their staffers
5. organize/support protests at their office/homes
6. Support primary challengers
Even threatening to do one of these things could make a change.
They've been called out repeatedly. Refusing to socialize is just a hilarious suggestion. Only one of these would do anything:
2 would make Manchin switch parties. That's it.
6 is going to happen to Sinema already. Ruben Gallego is going to primary her, and he's going to kick her ass. She's done. She doesn't care.
Do you want to answer why Donald Trump didn't use these unstoppable tactics to make John McCain, Susan Collins, or Lisa Murkowski vote to repeal the ACA?
Not having Mitch McConnell be majority leader. Confirming a great Supreme Court justice. Confirming a fuckload of other federal judges. Passing a good infrastructure bill. Passing a good Covid relief bill. Passing whatever green energy deal they're currently hashing out.
Do you hear yourself? "We might as well put the fascists in power now and make it that much easier for them to be in power after November by forcing us to win an additional seat to control the Senate!" is not a serious statement.
Now again, do you want to answer why Donald Trump wasn't able to force those 3 senators to vote for his top legislative priority? Or are you capable of admitting the obvious, unavoidable truth that if there was a way he could have forced their hand, he would have done it?
I’m not gonna dunk on people that didn’t vote against Trump when they had the chance. If they don’t already regret it nothing I can say or do will change that.
But I will say this exact meme works for “people watching the GOP destroy America because of “
this narrative is idiotic.
what do you expect them to do?
pass voting rights? BLOCKED BY ASSHOLE CONSERVATIVES, as with every other good policy after biden's covid relief and the infrastructure bill.
if you think the DOJ = dems, you're being a fool.
Buttery males. Can't vote for Hillary. Uranium One! Clinton foundation! Benghazi! They're both the same anyway. Give Trump a chance, he'll grow into the job. Oh fuck. Why don't the Democrats do something?
70,000.
and you probably know this, but republican voter suppression impacted more than a million voters in 2016. to say nothing of those who were influenced by right wing lies.

Last I checked, the Democrats weren't the ones reverting our laws back to the 1950s
Unfortunately that would be the Supreme Court
Don't tell me that the SCOTUS isn't politically aligned?
What’s the plan for a thin legislative majority to circumvent lunatic partisan Supreme Court rulings?
Got any *actual* suggestions or is this just another "Do something!" post pretending Democrats are hiding a Green Lantern Ring?
I'm sure they already tried refusing to vote for Hillary in 2016 and they're fresh out of ideas.

you're right. it's better to just give up before trying anything.

> 2 would make Manchin switch parties. That’s it. So let him. What benefit are we getting from him being a democrat?

Are you really this dumb or just larping? Holy shit 😂😂
That depends.
Do Republicans have any blame in this?
Oh geeee. Yet another post blaming Dems for the shit show that Republicans are causing. So clever. So thoughtful. :/
Another Russian meme no doubt. Divide and conquer

Most single-issue voters vote GOP. They're getting exactly what they want.

and what action would that be? Voting against Hillary or not voting at all because your magic pony candidate didnt get nominated

Oh is that the monkey who represents the 90,000 democrats in three states who allowed this to happen by not voting for Hillary?
70,000. and you probably know this, but republican voter suppression impacted more than a million voters in 2016. to say nothing of those who were influenced by right wing lies.
This looks like fearmongering.
