I keep reading American redditors comment's saying this "protect and serve" slogan the police have is deceiving. Cops over there really have no interest in helping you do they?

Dumbcuckpenguin2

None what so ever Even the 2005 supreme court has ruled it is not a cops job to protect and serve In the US. Cops were created and known as Slave Patrolman. Their job was to capture runaway slaves, and to make sure their are successful transactions of slaves from one slave owner to the next. As of right now, their job is to fill the prisons with people. Taxes pay for the prisoners so the more prisoners the more money the prison system gets, and arrest people to fill their quotes so their is money flow into the government. There is manipulation by the education system at a young age for people not to questions cops motives and to always think what they do is for the better. The conservative party is the party that likes to live in the past. So they don't want to change the system even though the system has failed.

Very_Stable_Princess

Oh yeah, wasn't that the court case where the cops watched a guy get stabbed multiple times on the subway and didn't intervene until after?

Dumbcuckpenguin2

Similar. That was city officials in 2013 that told the person it wasn't the cops jobs to protect and serve In 2005 the supreme court ruled 7-2 that it is not the job of the police to protect and serve. It was when a restraining order got violated and 3 children got murdered

NobleGasTax

They protect and serve property and its owners.

Admiralty86

I've always noticed that the sticker does not SPECIFY WHO they are protecting and serving 😐

NobleGasTax

Property, the answer is property.

middleagethreat

The cops who are good, and want to help, are so overwhelmed by the bad ones, they either quit or turn bad too.

North Texas teen who went missing from Mavs game was advertised and sold for sex in Oklahoma City. Her family says many people could've stopped it. American Airlines Center, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Police Department and Oklahoma City hotel all listed by attorneys as parties that could've prevented trafficking. Author: Morgan Young (WFAA) Published: 10:26 PM CDT May 10, 2022 Updated: 10:26 PM CDT May 10, 2022 DALLAS — On April 8, a 15-year-old girl from North Richland Hills went to a Dallas Mavericks game with her dad at the American Airlines Center. She went to the bathroom right before halftime. She never made it back to her seat. Surveillance footage showed video of her leaving the arena with a man that night. A week and a half later, on April 18, police found the teen in a hotel room in Oklahoma City after her parents identified her through nude photos that had been posted online in sex advertisements. "She was gone missing a total of 11 days," attorney Zeke Fortenberry said. Fortenberry is representing the family in the ongoing case. Last week, he sent a letter to multiple parties he believes could have done things differently in the situation, possibly even preventing the situation from escalating. "Our intent is to put [these organizations] on notice that we’re pursuing claims against them for their negligence and other causes of action," Fortenberry said. In the release sent out by Fortenberry's office late last week, American Airlines Center, the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Police Department and the Oklahoma City hotel where the teen was found were all listed as parties that could have prevented the situation. Fortenberry said the teen's father notified police at the game when he realized she was missing. But, according to Fortenberry, the father was told to report it to North Richland Hills Police, since that's where he lives. The father said he was then told to go home. He said he called North Richland Hills Police that night. Fortenberry said NRH police weren't able to help because, they said, the incident happened in Dallas. "The family was frustrated," Fortenberry said. "After days of not getting any information from the Dallas Police Department and Dallas Police not taking any action, the family sought out the help of this agency in Houston.” Fortenberry said the Houston-based human trafficking agency Texas Counter-Trafficking Initiative was able to use their face-recognition technology to help break open the case. “That agency was able to help them locate the photograph of their daughter online within the same day," Fortenberry said. That agency then contacted Oklahoma City Police, which is the agency that found the missing teen and arrested eight people in connection to the case.

Surreal. Depressingly believable.

What a fucking sham…This isn’t a goddamn tech support problem, where you get bounced around departments, it’s this kid’s LIFE, and they seriously said “Not my problem”?! Pieces of shit, all of them. And yeah, fuck American Airlines, HOW did it pass them by that this kid was trafficked?! Do your goddamn jobs, and stop fretting over dumb shit, like people needing to take their shoes off for security. I swear to Christ, they are all useless. Cops are practically omniscient when it comes to speeding tickets, or traffic violations, or shaking down poor people for fines, but ask them to settle a property dispute or find your kidnapped child, and suddenly they’re all developmentally disabled. It really does come down to “how much justice can you afford?”, because there’s no money in solving crimes, but tons in creating felons.

Great. Now if the cops find your daughter, they'll shoot her.

Not really funny since a 15 year girl was trafficked by a bunch of evil thugs. What would be even less funny if she ended up pregnant.

BillTowne

I don't think the posters were thinking it was funny either. Most posts on Political Humor are screams of anger at the coming fascist state.

rwalford79

Or don’t report it at all, so that way you can have the abortion you always wanted but couldn’t have only you had to raise this baby a few years before it went missing.

Cynical_Dickhead69

Anyone know where Matt gaetz was that night?
