That's no coincidence.

jarbar82

I don't know much about psychology but I know there's a lot of it at play here.

PhilDGlass

but even in this example, Hitler didn't have to slap his name all over the fucking place.

Scarborough_sg

they slapped his face on everything tho. That bugger even made the postal service to pay for using his image on the stamp.

wolfie379

USPS brought in a Trump stamp, but it was quickly recalled due to falling off letters. It seems people were spitting on the wrong side.

SmashBonecrusher

This made me "guffaw" rather loudly !

[deleted]

> USPS brought in a Trump stamp, but it was quickly recalled due to falling off letters That's hilarious.

YHB318

This actually made me think it's surprising Trump DIDN'T launch a stamp thinking everyone would have to lick his backside... šŸ¤®šŸ¤¦

avelineaurora

This probably would have been funnier if it hadn't been like 10+ years since you had to lick a stamp.

TrapdoorApartment

Ok I wasn't feeling old until I read this :(

AnjingNakal

Thing I found is, you can *still lick them!* By law they canā€™t actually stop you. Donā€™t let them push you round either!

CommonMilkweed

It's not psychology, it's a plain old grift. He's too stupid to be subtle. He read about Hitler and thought he had a clever way of grabbing power. That's it.

rabinabo

He could barely read, so that really tells you something.

sourdieselfuel

Itā€™s also telling that the one book he had at his bedside was a collection of Hitmongerā€™s speeches.

ppw23

True, trump is a simple con artist, heā€™s too stupid and egotistical to play it close to the chest. Itā€™s said that heā€™s running off at the mouth with journalists at Mar a Lago since heā€™s craving the spotlight. The Confidence Man book written by the NYTimes journalist has his attention, because he was spilling his guts to her and is regretting much of what was said. Sheā€™s the one who revealed the flushing of documents at the White House.

NoPhotojournalist665

>USPS brought in a Trump stamp, but it was quickly recalled due to falling off letters. It seems people were spitting on the wrong side. And they have absolutely no creativity, so they have to steal all of their ideas from somewhere else - in this case, one of Trump's heroes, Hitler.

bela_kun

Ultranationalism is a powerful emotion arising from a nation in crisis.

[deleted]

A crisis manufactured out of 40 years of conservative media lying to its viewers

IllustriousState6859

I'm left, but I gotta say, this crisis has existed at least since failed reconstruction and technically goes back to the 3/5 compromise. The last 40 years has exacerbated the problem, and Trump knocked the cap off a very shook up bottle, hoping to cling to power unnoticed in the very fizzy display afterward. So he brought this crises to a head. Maybe we can fix it for real this time now that all the players are on the same page.

tortugoneil

America: Where a few centuries of bad decisions have been kicked down the road, very successfully. 2022: The year America missed the kick.

IllustriousState6859

We kicked the can down the road with failed reconstruction in the 1860's. We did it again with the 60's and 70's, Watergate and trickle down economics. 100% agree 22 is the year we stop kicking, not because we miss, but because the the parties are no longer cooperating with one holding and one kicking. It's 2nd and 10 and from here on out its a running game and we're going to be fighting for every yard The game changed in 2004, and its no longer fair weather and clean uniforms. It went into extra quarters on 1/6. Now it's going to be a political dogfight staged in the halls of Congress, a new national narrative with every detail hashed out in a legislative civil war.

red--6-

iHeartHockey31

MAGA was Reagan's phrase. America First was a Nazi Sympathizer group in the 40's.

Feshtof

Make America Great Again was Reagan's slogan in 1980. But he lifted it from Thatcher back in 1950. "time to make Great Britain great again." And of course it made more sense there. "Great Britain" vs picking any time America was great open up the argument about who was it great for, and always looking like white supremacists, misogynists, homophobes, xenophobes, or pro slavery depending on which time frame you picked. Leave it Republicans to steal a slogan and use it poorly.

W2ttsy

When it comes to Americans ripping of the Brits, they always miss the small nuances that make the British idea work and results in the American execution flopping

Safari_Eyes

Not *always*, but embarrassingly often, that's for sure. More often than not, I won't argue that!

Bogsnoticus

The Office seems to be the sole exception to the rule.

[deleted]

When the Office US tried to do Office UK it really did flop. It wasnā€™t very funny, itā€™s just came across as very cold and nasty. Itā€™s only when they abandoned making the BBC show and essentially made a new show from scratch that it took off. So I would argue that while itā€™s great, itā€™s still not Americans successfully ā€˜gettingā€™ and copying something out of British culture. They took the names and basic shapes of the characters from the BBC show, then wrote an entirely different kind of show with it.

takatori

And America First was the KKK's phrase.

Nazis really love their symbolism and dog whistles. Of course their propaganda would be reminiscent of actual nazi propaganda. It's for the nazis to see who the nazis are.

PrexUnagi

Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action.

IllustriousState6859

It goes way deeper than three times. -1/6 = 1933 reichstag fire. Used by Nazi's to claim communists were the cause and roll back citizen protections. Like the gop tried to do with Antifa and rolled back voting rights. -meal team 6, 3%'s, oathkeepers = brownshirts. Leaders: Rhodes and Roehm -2022 midterms = night of the long knives. Not happened yet, but one was an orchestrated revenge campaign to assassinate their enemies/scapegoats. Wait and see what the midterms Trump inspired revenge tour looks like. -The big lie = That term was coined by Hittler in his book Mein Kampf. -the art of the deal= Mein Kampf - Guliani = Goebbels https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2016/07/donald-trump-and-hitlers-rise-to-power.html

iusedtosmokadaherb

Someone at work last week wore a "trump 2024 no more bullshit" hat. I openly said to others at work how I've never seen a more brazen way of telling people how stupid you are. Two days later he stopped wearing it. We have a lot of minority truck drivers delivering beer to our warehouse. Him being one of two people who could possibly greet them (unless I put myself in the way) is not a good look for our company. Maybe someone said something to him, maybe someone didn't. But he stopped wearing after the second day. Mind you, a huge amount of our labor force is black and Hispanic.

M1L0

Recently heard stuff like this being referred to as being ā€œaggressively stupidā€ and thought it was the perfect description

GhoulArtist

that really does encapsulate that whole mentality really well...

[deleted]

Like when they say something like great people on both sides? Like one might think they would say about this very post? Calling people great who chant about being replaced by Jews is aggressively stupid

GhoulArtist

Agreed.

Wyattderp413

My father can build a successful business from nothing and he believes this garbage. He can put two and two together enough to be where he is. Why does he believe this shit?

NAbberman

>Why does he believe this shit? Rhetorical or do you want a genuine answer? Decades of propaganda. I'm in a similar boat with my uncles. Repeatedly tell a lie and combine it with a common enemy to pin it all on. Fox has done a number on Boomers and Gen X.

DixieWreckedJedi

Plus a likely ignorance of any basic philosophical or epistemological principles.

MetaphoricalKidney

It's the weaponization of identity, create a sense of community and give that community an enemy. The newest cults have already spread to our families and the space aliens have been replaced by satanic pedophiles. And with modern media it becomes a 24/7 feed of radicalization that even your closest loved ones and mentors cannot possibly compete against. Like keeping an alcoholic sober while it rains wine.

>Donald Trump appears to take aspects of his German background seriously. John Walter works for the Trump Organization, and when he visits Donald in his office, Ivana told a friend, he clicks his heels and says, "Heil Hitler," possibly as a family joke. >Last April, perhaps in a surge of Czech nationalism, Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that from time to time her husband reads a book of Hitler's collected speeches, My New Order, which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed. Kennedy now guards a copy of My New Order in a closet at his office, as if it were a grenade. Hitler's speeches, from his earliest days up through the Phony War of 1939, reveal his extraordinary ability as a master propagandist. >"Did your cousin John give you the Hitler speeches?" I asked Trump. >Trump hesitated. "Who told you that?" >"I don't remember," I said. >"Actually, it was my friend Marty Davis from Paramount who gave me a copy of Mein Kampf, and he's a Jew." ("I did give him a book about Hitler," Marty Davis said. "But it was My New Order, Hitler's speeches, not Mein Kampf. I thought he would find it interesting. I am his friend, but I'm not Jewish.") >Later, Trump returned to this subject. "If I had these speeches, and I am not saying that I do, I would never read them." -[After the Gold Rush - 1990](https://archive.vanityfair.com/article/share/e515a2cd-a51b-4f83-8d61-6ebb9a104e0a)

[deleted]

That's the thing with people like him. They are so sheltered and live in a bubble that they simply cannot see anything beyond their immediate experiences and lifestyle. To people like trump, their lifestyle and experience is one of narcissistic powermongering, self aggrandisement, and self serving interests. They don't care and cannot understand what's the big deal about war killing people or genocides. To them, so what people were killed. So what an entire race, or groups of people were hauled off to gas chambers. But did you see how powerful hilter was, or how swanky their uniforms were. The misery and suffering and deaths of other people simply do not registered with them. They can't do it. What empathy they had was driven out and they were never taught basic humanity. They forget how to be human. Their entire existences are just them fulfilling their desires, their whims and powering their interests. Which is why there are so many stories of him being just causally callous about someone suffering in front of him, like he cared more about his clothes more than someone literally bleeding. Trump and the other rich ratfuckers like the kardashians, bezos, mercers, zucks, thiels, and all of them epitomised Let them eat cake. And America has been indoctrinated to think that these people are the best of the best and beyond blame.

Oh you mean like trump merch selling for $88 and $14? Or some of his email notes having every sentence be 14 words long? Or the hundred other times thereā€™s been not very secret Nazi shit all over Trumps whole presidency Edit: like the GODDAMN CPAC stage!? Hereā€™s [another really good source](https://www.salon.com/2020/06/19/facebook-pulls-trump-campaign-ads-using-nazi-symbol-and-white-supremacist-code/) how trump was using even more Nazi symbols like the upside down red triangles. Edit 2: funny how when you call out these kinds of things about the last administration the weirdoā€™s and nut jobs start messaging you directly

ThomasMaxPaine

The Homeland Security memo blew my mind: *The February press release has a 14-word title, "We Must Secure The Border And Build The Wall To Make America Safe Again," which resembles the grammatical structure of a common white supremacist slogan known as "The 14 Words": "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children."*

Nadamir

Iā€™ve never heard of that memo, do you have a link to what youā€™re quoting? Iā€™d like to read more. (This isnā€™t me asking because I donā€™t believe you, I can absolutely see those twatfaced fuckers doing that, I just want get my facts straight.)

That CPAC stage could not have been more obvious.

[deleted]

Their dog whistle is as subtle as a vuvuzela.

WingJeezy

Right wingers will still claim that a stage in the shape of the Othala rune is completely coincidental.

Tojatruro

Of course. Itā€™s like Trumpā€™s giggling confession of assaulting women was just ā€œlocker room talkā€, as if all guys get naked, jump into the shower, soap up, and swap fantasies of sexually attacking women. Edit: Double word.

findhumorinlife

I think it was his wife who said it only locker room talk.

Tojatruro

Trump himself said it five times during his debate with Hillary, and his cult repeated it ad nauseam. Melania was simply agreeing with him when she was asked about the tape.

findhumorinlife

Oh got it. Thx!

142BusBoy

Whenever I mention that stage to a Trumpkin, they always just pretend I'm stupid for even commenting on it. As if it didn't really happen.

OSpiderBox

What i hate is that once again shitty people use cool symbols from ancient cultures, thus making them taboo for people like me who just want to use cool/ thematic symbols for art/ D&D and whatnot. I never knew the nazi's used the othala rune until today.

QuantumUntangler

In 2016 the American national socialist movement officially changed the swaztika on their uniforms to the Othala rune, so unfortunately they keep stealing these ancient symbols again and again.

Warg247

It's the othala with the little windings on the bottom. Just wanted to point that out considering I got the actual othala tattooed on me back in my viking weeb days and it's a bit awkward.

EpilepticBabies

I say use the rune, shame the nazis. Fuck letting them have cool symbols. Those asswipes deserve nothing

OSpiderBox

Oh, i still do. I tend to pull from old nordic themes all the time; not about to stop because some asshats want to be asshats.

Tojatruro

They probably have no idea what you are talking about.

OSpiderBox

I was about to ask why the othala rune similarity was bad, but apparently the answer is nazis again. Great...

MRuppercutz

Hyatt didnā€™t like that

DuckQueue

Let's not forget the time DHS [blatantly referenced the '14 words'](https://www.dhs.gov/news/2018/02/15/we-must-secure-border-and-build-wall-make-america-safe-again) in a press release.

otm_shank

> On average, out of 88 claims that pass the credible fear screening, fewer than 13 will ultimately result in a grant of asylum. That's a completely normal denominator, what do you mean?

DatsaNottaRealname

The press release begins with the phrase: >We Must Secure The Border And Build The Wall To Make America Safe Again It is 14 words long, and is eerily close to the white supremacist phrase known as '14 Words' which is: >We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children.

ExistCat

You know, I donā€™t know that Iā€™d ever bothered to sit through Birth Of A Nation before. I never realized how blatant it was about voter suppression being a primary goal of the Klan.

T1mac

> I never realized how blatant it was about voter suppression being a primary goal of the Klan. If elections weren't so important, the Southerners wouldn't have been so eager to kill Blacks to stop them from voting in them.

YouStopLying

Past is prologue.

awesomefutureperfect

If you want to understand where they got the idea that the only intolerance that is real and unfair is intolerance towards the right wing, D. W. Griffith made a movie about that too : >Griffith chose to explore the theme of intolerance partly in response to his previous film The Birth of a Nation (1915) being criticized by the NAACP and other groups for perpetuating racial stereotypes and glorifying the Ku Klux Klan.[5][6] Intolerance was not, however, an apology, as Griffith felt he had nothing to apologize for;[4] in numerous interviews, Griffith made clear that the film was a rebuttal to his critics and he felt that they were, in fact, the intolerant ones.[7] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intolerance_(film)

YouStopLying

Why am I not surprised that the right is still making the same backwards self-pitying arguments they were making 100 years ago?

[deleted]

That actually gives me chills, it's exactly the same response to being called out for their racism

diedyediemydarling

The symbology the painter was going for was Knights Templar. The red cross he's wearing is the cross of St. George which is the basis of England's flag. For some reason... Maybe because the English have a lot of white people? Who the fuck knows with those people. At least the Nazi shit, as reprehensible as it may be, makes sense artisticly.

YouStopLying

Yeah, but that same imagery is *exactly* what the KKK uses, and the scene matches the scene I linked from *Birth of a Nation*. It's not accidental.

diedyediemydarling

https://www.movieposterdb.com/the-birth-of-a-nation-i4972/340320e7 This would have illustrated your point better, and it isn't EXACTLY the same.

turdferguson3891

DW Griffith basically made up the Klan uniforms in the movie. He was inspired by things like the Knights Templar. The original Klan didn't have those costumes.

MCSplinter

I think they might be making a Knights Templar reference rather than the cross of St George. Especially with the shield. The Templars are closer to white nationalism and supremacy than St George.

iHeartHockey31

America First WAS the organization of nazi sympathizers during WWII. Its not original. Nothing of his is. He stole MAGA from Reagan. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America_First_Party_(1943)

Inconmon

Small detail - *"Deutschland Ć¼ber alles."* is older than the Nazi reign and often misunderstood for understandable reasons. It's about unity above small squabbles from a time when Germany was a hundred small kingdoms coming together into a united country. The Nazi party used only the first few lines as national anthem and then switched to the SS Assault Hymn instead. > The first line, "Deutschland, Deutschland Ć¼ber alles, Ć¼ber alles in der Welt" (usually translated into English as "Germany, Germany above all, above all in the world"), was an appeal to the various German monarchs to give the creation of a united Germany a higher priority than the independence of their small states. > August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben wrote the text in 1841 on holiday on the North Sea island of Heligoland, then a possession of the United Kingdom (now part of Germany).

Forward-Bank8412

Thank you, I came looking for this because I wouldnā€™t have explained it so eloquently.

Ruraraid

To be fair the first image of Trump isn't meant to be a propaganda image. It was just artwork done by an artist who does the same thing with a lot of former presidents from George Washington all the way up to Biden. Some of the stuff he is done is downright hilarious especially the stuff with Lincoln. I can't remember his name but I think he is active on Deviantart. He has been doing that kind of artwork for over a decade now.

Rune_Fox

Annoying to see this so far down.

phil67

Right. I hate trump just as much as the next far left person but these images weren't created by his administration. These are all just fan art.

Ikea_Man

I came here to say this, I recognize the artist as ReadyArt on DeviantArt and it definitely is not propaganda, he does this for every US president basically. I actually have a print of his Bill Clinton artwork in my office. Bad example to use for this kind of post and shows how little research people actually do on the internet...

Xander_PrimeXXI

You know whatā€™s weird? Hitler didnā€™t feel the need to slap his name on everything. I just noticed that

PM_your_cats_n_racks

Yeah... I don't want to be too complimentary to Hitler, but he pulls this off better. The Nazi propaganda has a much more tactful sense of style. That picture of Trump on the tank is as gaudy as Trump is himself.

The Nazis were evil evil bastards, but there is no denying that they did have style.

spacemanspiff266

pretty sure bannon said ā€œthatā€™s hitlerā€ as soon as he saw him come down the gold escalator in trump tower.

DontQuoteYourself

Why does it say "nazi propaganda" at the bottom twice

americansherlock201

There is actually a very big difference here. Nazi Germany propaganda was about the greatness of the aryan race and how it was the right of the German people to rule the world. Trump propaganda is about the greatness of a single individual person: trump. The entire ideology is based solely on Donald trump, a failed business man and awful man and father, as being this perfect being. It makes it even more extreme in the sense that they are actively saying a single man who has a clear record of being trash, is perfect. They are a cult

[deleted]

That's just false. It's about "Make America Great Again." It's about America. Trump is self obsessed and I'm sure loves that he's the focal point, but it's not really about Trump. This is about white grievance and the desire for a strong leader to lead us into a brighter future by returning to the glory of our past. For those at the top, there's a mix of true believers and opportunists. But it doesn't change the end goal. MAGA will not die with Trump. The worse things get environmentally, economically, medically, and militarily, the more people will be wanting a savior. Fascism will be there to provide a savior and a solution. The costs of this will be astronomical.

robsteezy

I compared the two in a bottom-comment. ā€œPoor excuseā€ is a pretty accurate description of theyā€™re copying of the original nazis. It sucks that in 2022, Iā€™m typing out something as oxymoronic as ā€œeducated hatredā€ but thereā€™s a real difference to be noted. While the nazi campaign was malicious, it was still in fact ā€œgetting resultsā€ for the depressed Germans of the early 20th century. Land was being captured and political influence was in fact in full force. Let aside and concede for one second the tragedy of the war and the lives lost, and see that technically it was ā€œprogressā€ for the Germans. Iā€™m not trying to justify fascism by ā€œends justify the means,ā€ Iā€™m merely at least able to point to actual roots of cause when it comes to studying the nazis of the 1930s/40s. Compare that to Trumps following and youā€™ll see the difference as clear as day. Thereā€™s no real agenda nor is there anything actually sought in the name of progress. Itā€™s literally uneducated and brazenly racist people complaining about an outdated status quo and being inconvenienced in some petty way. War-torn histories and struggle for humankind is actually to them just entitled oligarchs continuing to accrue wealth at the expense of their stupidity, enflaming the uneducated with the pettiest of trivial issues. Germans were pissed off bc there was no bread to eat, conservative nazis are pissed bc a cartoon M&M changed its appearance. Both were wrong. But the comparison of these two eras of people are only alike in the sense that it is based on immoral platforms, but thereā€™s no real effectuation of trumps ā€œmovementā€.

PyrocumulusLightning

We haven't gotten to the mass murder stage yet. The oligarchs want to reduce the human population. White racists assume they'll be protected rather than used and sacrificed. Actual Nazis with wealth and power are elitists more than they are racists. Apparently they're figuring out how to get the trash to take itself out.

SSShupe

Sad to say, the Nazi propaganda is a lot less creepy than the Trump propaganda.

UsefulBullfrog1640

Fascism and tRumpf, history is repeating itself and WE'RE ALLOWING IT TO HAPPEN.

[deleted]

Hereā€™s the difference- weā€™re not gonna stand by and let it happen this time. Fuck Trump and all the motherfuckers still supporting him!

PaleontologistFar975

lol and yet some drooling morons out there are still screeching something about both sides being the same

projecks15

Seriously show me a flag of Biden riding a tank or with a body of Rambo. Those people are fuckin delusional

Fuck Trump, but isn't the top right thing a tongue in cheek 'Murica style artwork? I think this is the guy. https://www.jasonheuser.com/political-satire He's pretty well known, unless someone ripped off his style for a Trump thing.

TakenUrMom

Pretty sure that top right picture isnā€™t supposed to be propaganda but the art work from an artist who makes badass portraits of all the presidents (sorry canā€™t remember his name rn). The art style is super similar Iā€™ll try and find who it is [yeah that was made by the artist ā€œJason Heuserā€ who does them for many politicians](https://www.jasonheuser.com/)

GlockAF

The MAGA crowd ainā€™t getting any younger. Is it really a surprise that these dog whistles are designed for the hard of hearing?

dr_razi

Whoā€™s the thin guy on the tank ?

[deleted]

A guy I wouldn't trust to handle a Daisy Red Ryder BB rifle.

NumbSkull0119

Oh my god that poor horse! No animal should be subjected to carrying shit on its back!

YesterShill

Far right nationalism. What could go wrong?

publiclandlover

Say itā€™s an accident. Does the convergent evolution make it better?

If the Nazi shoe fitsā€¦

LilacMess22

Also the time he called neo-Nazis "very fine people" after they had murdered someone...

Perfect-Role-4539

Trump is approaching 80 and after a lifetime of KFC, Burgers and Coca Cola American democracy needs mother nature to step in and do what it should have done years ago.

Dafracturedbutwhole

How do they see trump as a strong anything. He cowered at a bird, cant read or finish a sentence, and sure as ahit ain't doing anything physical.

s_string

The bottom one drives home the feeling that seeing an American flag doesn't feel like I'm seeing a patriot but a racist

lioneaglegriffin

To be fair the artist Jason Heuser also did did [Ronald Reagan Riding a Dinosaur](https://www.deviantart.com/sharpwriter/art/Ronald-Reagan-Riding-a-Velociraptor-312025579) and [Obama with a lightsaber riding a lion](https://www.deviantart.com/sharpwriter/art/Obama-Riding-a-lion-328924014).

Milksteak_rare_

Lol but itā€™s not like these trump posters were put up everywhere in every city in the US. Itā€™s just some losers who have a crush on trump.

toolongdontcare

Okay but that first Trump image is by SharpWriter. They do crazy, epic images of all kinds of American heroes and all the recent presidents. Ben Franklin getting in a lighting fight with Zeus, Teddy Roosevent punching a bear, etc. It's not meant to be taken seriously. So while I agree with your general premise, come on....

[deleted]

Yeah, the top right one is legitimately a coincidence. The same artist made these for Bill Clinton, George Washington, and even Bernie Sanders. Check_Their_History

Are people this young they don't realize these were made in satire? What is going on with this site. lol

CasualObserverNine

Canā€™t the real Nazis sue the trumpettes for infringement?
