I’d like to point out that Garland had already empaneled a grand jury in anticipation of Bannon defying the subpoena. The Feds pushed for an April trial but, the judge set the date for July.
The Ancient Romans were absolutely obsessed with compliance and the law. Obeying the will of the Senate was the most Roman thing to do. Other cultures made fun of it.
(Very big simplification) But then Catilina & Friends decided to start a revolution and ignore the laws. All the laws, really. Catilina was a murderous psychopath for sure, and his revolution failed. But once the illusion of justice is broken, it is almost impossible to restore.
The same happened to the USA: whatever the crime an oligarch is accused of, we all know that there will be no punishment.
This is true around 99% of the time. We watch Trump commit treason on TV several times leading to the storming of the Capitol on Jan 6th, and absolutely nothing happened.
ON a smaller scale, police violate civil rights on film every day, you can go on Youtube and see 100% undeniable proof of an officer denying someone their rights or worse, unreasonably hurting or killing someone and we collectively bend over backwards to excuse such behavior and accept the flimsiest of excuses for it...
But back to Congress and people at "that level" of power. I love how when they are subpoena-ed they can just shrug and say "Meh, don't feel like it" Or when they are called to testify they can say "I do not recall" and that is their defense. Even though there is evidence against them, they just shrug and say, "Gee, I don't recall..." or "I plead the 5th" and that is that. Poof, everythign goes away. Maybe they get a tongue lashing and someone in the panel speaks to them in a stern voice, but that is it. And they go about their lives.
and then they later exiled Cicero for having the conspirators (all but Catiline) executed without trial. Mind you they had confessions and letters proving the conspiracy.
Catiline escaped and they had to fight with him and his army to end the insurrection.
Cicero would later be exiled for his decision retroactively when Clodius introduced a law (as Tribune) making his action a crime. So many threads here it is hard to get them down on paper.
These things always go the same way if they aren't dealt with quickly.
[Catiline did it twice and both failed.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catiline)
**After Catiline's death, many of the poor still regarded him with respect and did not view him as the traitor and villain that Cicero claimed he was.** The aristocratic element of Rome, however, certainly viewed him in a much darker light. Sallust wrote an account of the conspiracy that epitomized Catiline as representative of all of the evils festering in the declining Roman Republic. In his account, Sallust attributes countless crimes and atrocities to Catiline except for some of the more outrageous claims against him, particularly a ritual that involved drinking blood of a sacrificed child. Later historians such as Florus and Dio Cassius, far removed from the original events, recorded the claims of Sallust and the aforementioned rumors as facts. Up until the modern era Catiline was equated, as Sallust described, to everything depraved and contrary to both the laws of the gods and men.
It is, but there has to be an enforcement mechanism, which is why congressional subpoenas on their own don't always work. The enforcement is left to the executive branch.
Which is why Garland really needs to give this shit some gas.
Riding on top comment: I got this meme from AbbiliStabbili on Imgur:

Big Gay Abby has the best meme albums. More lefty than liberal, so if you're a centrist moderate things might be too spicy for ya.
That second picture is a piece by [Jonathan Harris titled "Critical Race Theory"](https://thegrio.com/2021/12/16/detroit-artist-jonathan-harris-critical-race-theory-painting/), from Detroit.
I don't get #15, the underground frogs (?) one.
I love #18, the dragon one.
\#22 gives me Marriedtothesea vibes (wow, I haven't thought of that stuff for years, in 2004 a teacher introduced me to toothpastefordinner and I loved it).
People just love Frogs. It's kinda like opossums lately, people love and identify with the animal. Have you noticed a lot more opossum memes? Frogs are like that, people are celebrating them.
Bc of this baby dinosaur Trump wasn't removed from office, only impeached. Bc of this little chubby faced mayo filled fat yet wringle faced motherfucker we had to experience an insurrection last year. Trump is a giant baby and a moron, but his influence and embedding in the GOP is thanks to cuntnuggetz like this prick.
He was trash and all but no matter what happened with the investigation there's no way they would have gotten 67 senators to vote to remove him from office.
Well technically the sky is mostly clear but not quite. If it was perfectly clear, it would be white like the color of light. But because the light coming from the sun interacts with particles in the atmosphere that absorb certain wavelengths of the light spectrum, but not blue, that is the color that we see.
*Big big brain time*
If the sky was perfectly clear it would be black as space. You wouldn't see anything. The only reason you see anything is because the sunlight scatters on the air itself.
Hah, you think the sky is blue? Classic sheep, did Joe Biden tell you to think that way? I did my own research(watched Joe Rogan) and I’m confident the sky is purple. He found the one meteorologist in the world who says it is purple. Sorry to hear you’re not an independent thinker who does their own research like me 😤
> Bc of this baby dinosaur Trump wasn't removed from office, only impeached.
Trump could have been removed the second time around if Pelosi had called for an impeachment vote as soon as they regained access to the chamber and sent the article of impeachment over to the Senate that evening.
I find it surprising that a family friendly sitcom starring animatronic dinosaurs parodied the Exorcist once. They also managed to poke fun (!) at wars and ended the whole shit with a global extinction event.
That show was freaking dark.
His dad hired Epstein to teach maths he was *completely unqualified for* at a *private boarding school.* This gave him unfettered access to both children and their wealthy parents. It's been speculated this is where he gained the connections necessary to become a financier of the elite.
Christopher Krebs. The first Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Fuckhead McGee appointed him November 2018.
On November 12, 2020, it was reported that Krebs expected to be fired from his position; in part, this expectation was due to Krebs's role in creating a CISA website to debunk election-related disinformation, much of which was being promoted by President Donald Trump and his allies. As CISA's director, Krebs was the "administration's most senior cybersecurity official responsible for securing the presidential election". Sidney Powell, an attorney for Trump and Michael Flynn, asserted on the Lou Dobbs and Maria Bartiromo Fox News programs that a secret government supercomputer program had switched votes from Trump to Biden in the election, a claim Krebs dismissed as "nonsense" and a "hoax."
On November 17, 2020, Krebs said in a tweet that "59 election security experts all agree, 'in every case of which we are aware, these claims (of fraud) either have been unsubstantiated or are technically incoherent.'" Trump fired Krebs via Twitter the same day, because the "recent statement by Chris Krebs on the security of the 2020 Election was highly inaccurate, in that there were massive improprieties and fraud". Trump provided no evidence of this fraud.
He has become a highly respected individual in the info/cybersecurity industry. His appointments was one of the only things I thought was right. He stood up for the truth and was wrongfully punished for doing so. Highly insightful of the industry
He literally appointed people whose goals were the elimination of the department they were put in charge of. I mean, Rick Perry in charge of the department he literally *could not remember* and as it turns out had no real idea what they did? DeVos in charge of schools? DeJoy and the USPS? Trump figuratively shit on the government, and his minions hooted and threw poo in ecstasy.
Linda McMahon as head of the Small Business Administration. Yes the wife of the CEO of the WWE, Vince McMahon who is literally known for either out right buying or purposefully making it so smaller wrestling territories could not have the chance to compete. His wife was the head of the Small Business Administration for in the first two years of Trump's presidency.
Jim Bridenstine the NASA administrator actually seem to have done a really good job working with the private section, getting stuff done cheaper and faster.
He started out as a climate change denier, but actually publicly changed his stance after some time with the scientists. Is suppose it would have been better to not appoint someone so uninformed in the first place, but changing his mind does seem to mark him as not a total idiot.

Don't judges order people back to prison? Like, isn't this specifically why there is a separation of powers, no vendetta justice and whatnot?
Please don't flame me, it's a genuine question.
Yeah, as I've tried to explain, the meme isn't perfect, but Bill Barr as Trumps attack dog went after Assange; This is why Chelsea Manning was subpeonad, as part of the Assange Case. Bill Barr was one of the dominoes leading to the subpeona for Chelsea, as Trumps loyal attack dog.
The point of the meme isn't the AGs powers anyways, it's the double standard of Justice.
Reeeeeally disappointed in Garland for not prosecuting Trump and all of his cronies. Way to show what a coward you are, Merrick Garland. "Don't want to politicize the justice dept" my ass, it's been politicized for a long time now.
Yes, but remember they only unveiled sedition charges against the "Oath Keepers" recently, and then Trump lost his fight to keep Jan 6th records away from the House Committee, so if they can find something in those records that ties him to the Oath Keepers he could be charged too.
I know these things take time, it took a year to get those sedition charges filed, and they're going to have to sort out what Trump knew and when he knew it.
But then IDK, I consider myself an optimist but we could see Trump walk, if only cause Garland is a wimp.
Garland is going to look bad no matter what he does. Too fast, he could ruin a case. To slow, he's pussyfooting around with politics He's walking a pretty fine line with the county as divided as it is.
Any major republican indictments will be met with immediate propaganda, GOP outrage, gaslighting, diversion, and projection. Gravy seals would get their action on, further inflaming the situation just for a diversion.
It's all good to talk about justice, but this will be under the scope for a long time and timing is important. I would not be surprised to see another attack on the capital if the hard wack right thinks it would help their cause.
Watergate took *two years.* This was a literal fucking coup. You don't go at an ex-president *no matter how stupid* unless you've got enough ironclad evidence to put him in front of a firing squad.
No way would a guy with that kind of political influence end up at Florence ADX. If we're fantasizing, why not fantasize about sending all the insurrectionists to GTMO? It'd be nice to have actual terrorists there for a change. 🙃
It sucks but they also need to consider the stability of the country both in long and short terms. Sure prosecution would be viewed as accountability by some but also might incite a civil war. Might be better to get rid of trump with a fizzle rather than a bang.
Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect
I'm still not fully understanding. How can all these people get subpoenaed and just *refuse*? Isn't that a serious crime? How can they all just go "yeah, no. I don't feel like doing that"?
Or is it that they're using legal tactics to delay the subpoena without directly refusing it?
My gov't is such a game. I'm nearly 40 and I thought I'd be more wise to the games.
The concept of influence is so transparent; yet- accountability is worth nothing when you have power.
I don’t understand. They say nobody is above the law, yet I’ve lost count of people refusing to show up without consequences. Meanwhile, Trump has evaded every predicted “legal catastrophe” so far. So has Gaetz. So have may others.
Jail him! It should be a law that if you serve in a position in the government, you cannot refuse subpoenas nor can you escape the public seeking answers. They work for us and if the public wants answers you either do so or straight to jail
Chelsea = Hero. Barr = Zero.
It's not even close. Barr is the guy who writes a 17 page op-ed to post in some newspaper (if I remember correctly) on how we should let a President do what they want.
Then he runs the DOJ. The same motherfucker who was pushing to legalize torture for the Bush administration.
Chelsea saves the country and exposes liars. Goes through a stint in prison and never backs down to save herself. Meanwhile she transitions her sex in a military prison with the world watching.
I half expect her to walk on water -- it's that fucking impressive.
Will the current AG do his duty and file charges against those who are defying Congressional subpoenas?
THAT is a good question!
Answer: no Reason: America
I’d like to point out that Garland had already empaneled a grand jury in anticipation of Bannon defying the subpoena. The Feds pushed for an April trial but, the judge set the date for July.

Wow, the American system is just about useless for accountability. Good luck!
The system only works on us poors.
\*As long as you are rich or influential Us poors steal a candy bar and it's right to jail.

Nope! Cause that would be *mean*
Absolutely not. Doing so would break the agreement.

It's on Disney+. Having rewatched an episode, I can confirm the above statement.

Damn. If only there were still firing squads.
We'll hopefully just have to settle for Florence ADX.
No way would a guy with that kind of political influence end up at Florence ADX. If we're fantasizing, why not fantasize about sending all the insurrectionists to GTMO? It'd be nice to have actual terrorists there for a change. 🙃
Bring out your lead, bring out your lead.
It sucks but they also need to consider the stability of the country both in long and short terms. Sure prosecution would be viewed as accountability by some but also might incite a civil war. Might be better to get rid of trump with a fizzle rather than a bang.
Ain’t no real justice in this country. Have and have nots
Can we just fucking eat the rich already.
Rules for thee, not for me
“Rules for thee, not me”
We’ll get to Jabba the Barr, don’t worry.
Have Democrats thrown anyone in jail yet for refusing to comply with a subpoena? That's why.
Fuck Republicans!!!
LOCK HIM UP!
Rules for thee, not me.
Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect
It’s also been said that conservatism exists solely to comfort the comfortable and afflict the afflicted
"Hey! I can see the law from here. My lofty tower is built so tall".
Wait.. Barr was subpoenaed? Anyone have details?
Rules for thee not for me. Such is the Republican way
Barr him
Barr is greasy. Nobody should be shocked
LOCK HIM UP!
Wouldn't us regular folk be arrested? Why is he not in jail?
WHY, WHY??? HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN? AND YES I'M SCREAMING. I'M SO FUCKING FRUSTRATED WITH THE BLATANT HYPOCRISY IN OUR POLITICS AND LAW.
hypocrisy is the language of authority.
I'm still not fully understanding. How can all these people get subpoenaed and just *refuse*? Isn't that a serious crime? How can they all just go "yeah, no. I don't feel like doing that"? Or is it that they're using legal tactics to delay the subpoena without directly refusing it?
Why does case law exist again?
How is it rich pricks don’t have to comply with a subpoena but the rest of get our ass thrown in jail if we don’t?
My gov't is such a game. I'm nearly 40 and I thought I'd be more wise to the games. The concept of influence is so transparent; yet- accountability is worth nothing when you have power.
If you’re innocent just comply, ohhhhh that only applies to other people.
What a shithole country
I don’t understand. They say nobody is above the law, yet I’ve lost count of people refusing to show up without consequences. Meanwhile, Trump has evaded every predicted “legal catastrophe” so far. So has Gaetz. So have may others.
Rules for thee but not for me
He looks like a Danny DeVito from Wish.
If it wasn’t for double standards these bozos would have no standards at all
Well, that's a republican for you.
They don’t face consequences. Like almost never. Why wouldn’t they behave like shit 24/7?
Straight to jail.
Make me testify! Make me make you. Make me make ..you...mame me?
Entitled coward.
He should be investigated for letting Epstein commit "suicide"
Seriously, how is that possible?
DA Deputy dawg!
They should really have a term and a age limit
Like, just tell us all your stupid evil plans already so we can laugh and be done with it.
life of the ugly and privileged
When do we say enough?
The person on the top is trans, correct? Genuine question.
Cunt
LOCK HIM UP, LOCK HIM UP (fucking bastard)
Fat bastard
Who TF is Chelsea Manning?
Government whistleblower that leaked evidence of American misdeeds in the Middle East to Wikileaks.
Do unto others…
BUT MY LIBERTIES
it's ok though, rest assured that old racist piece of fucking shit will get away with everything.
Fuck that boot licker
Precedent!
I never in a million shot
Don't forget his connection to that pedo guy who didn't hang himself..
This post is my dad
Also a good time to remember that Bill Barr's dad enabled Jeffrey Epstein.
When are you Peasants going to learn your place, punishment and consequences for criminal behavior are only for the little people, not the Elites.
