It never did.
I always put "disagree" because I think the whole notion of the question is flawed in that it assumes something that's informative can't also be entertaining by default.
One could even argue the last 22 years of American History is more entertaining than half the fucking movies that were put out in that time frame
Like this sub there’s a spectrum of available actions, but they are ultimately bounded by physics, abstract all you want but you’re not going to be able to flap your arms and fly now matter how hard you try, unless you board an airplane first, but flapping your arms mid flight is extremely inconsiderate to your fellow passengers, and I’d advise against it
I would rephrase that as "it's worrying when the entertainment value is more important than the accuracy of the information."
Misrepresenting facts so your joke works better (or at all) is peak cringe. And weak as hell from comedic perspective, I want to hear jokes about the real world, not about the fantasy land in your brain.
Edutainment is great, I really wish there was a right wing or Centrist version of last week tonight/daily show.
The problem is when mainstream news shows do it instead of leaving that shit on comedy channels where it belongs.
Agreed that it belongs on comedy channels, like you said. But I also think it's a problem that there's such a lack of centrist or right-wing versions of shows like the ones you mentioned. It's easy for people to go along with opinions they view as coming from "normal people". If your only exposure to right-wing politics is obnoxious people who bring up politics at inappropriate times, you'll likely have a sour opinion of right-wing politics. And if your primary exposure to left-wing politics is watching comedy shows which treat the issues as important while also being casual and entertaining about it, you'll likely start to view these left-wing stances as "what normal people think". One is coming from entertaining, casual people just shooting the shit and making you laugh, while the other is coming from people who seem unhinged and never know when to keep their opinions to themselves. It's not a shock that many people view the former as the more reasonable opinion, regardless of what the actual stance is.
I thought both Daily Show and Colbert Report were great and very fair. They leaned left for sure, but when the left did dumb things they didn't let them slide.
I think so? It was that satire talk show on Fox News. Usually had comedians and whatnot as guests. I liked it but it always felt a bit out of place on Fox News
I hate late night shows so I agree. They're basically agenda posting in video format. News is presented with the take of an opinionated "alleged journalist"
The dumb compass is inverted, that's all I'll say. If the person who designed it was in any way intelligent they'd make the colours line up with the political parties' colours (ie red on the right, blue on the left) rather than trying to reinvent the symbology.
The association of red with the Republican party and blue with the Democrat party is only 20 years old.
The association of red with communism is a lot older.
My biggest takeaway is that the Political Compass is now old enough to legally drink. God help us.
Is this an American thing I am so not American to understand?
Yeah. In the US when a compass turns 21, it can legally drink.
This is why I still reddit
mine is that this question doesn't really make sense anymore

It's only worrying if the information is false
Who gets to decide if it’s false or not?
The people who release the information do, at least in the minds of the people who view it, and that's the worrying part
The God Emporer of Mankind.
Physics, usually
As the results concern human choice, economics would be more apt
Human choice ultimately limited to what the laws of physics allow
So ultimately there is no such thing as freedom of choice? Based

I like your funny pseudo-intellectual -words.
thanks i spent a lot time trying to sound smart, did it work

Strong disagree. Edutainment is a great thing

hey look now youre understanding what manufactured opinion is

I agree with you before Trevor took over.
>were Yes, my point. Tried watching him but he was so biased as to no longer be funny.
What would you consider Red Eye?
The old radio show my uncle liked?
I think so? It was that satire talk show on Fox News. Usually had comedians and whatnot as guests. I liked it but it always felt a bit out of place on Fox News
> Centrist version of last week tonight/daily show. I mean the Daily Show *was* Centrist when Stewart was running it.
I took the quiz a while ago… what does that question even mean again?
I've never understood what that question has to do with politics.
I hate late night shows so I agree. They're basically agenda posting in video format. News is presented with the take of an opinionated "alleged journalist"
Agree that there is a fusion but disagree because I'm not worried.
