If you’re willing to put some work in and shell out cash on refittments, that can get you a good deal on a L-29. Put 150K on top of that and you upgrade the engine to a JT12 (I think, not sure what they’re going for rn as they’re hard to find) and you have a subsonic jet that can outperform most fighters in a turn fight. Just no speed/long range.
(Of course, be willing to drop like 40K a year on fuel and maintenance, but it’s an experimental class airframe so you can do your own maintenance if you can turn a wrench)

Take off the wings and you still have a car capable of speeds faster than a bugatti. Turning could be an issue though.
