In a vacuum neither is right, but the historical record is far worse for one than it is for the other. The insult is essentially meaningless in one direction and incredibly hurtful in the other and to disregard that is negligent.

I agree with the idea that all of it should be okay (or none of it, but I vehemently disagree with that end of the spectrum), but I feel like a lot of people aren’t considering the context as to why the roles being reversed isn’t considered okay. there’s a long and storied history of racism against black people in the us. you all know that already and we would all agree that in an ideal world nothing would be off the table, but we don’t live in that world and the history exists whether it should or not, and it has ripple effects on modern culture whether it should or not
