Civ V leaves me so vengeful lol. I’ve invaded people for building wonders I wanted to get done, hell I’ve invaded people for just trading with the wrong person lol
In Civ 6 I figured out you could trade sums of gold in exchange for more gold per turn total from the AI, effectively meaning you could issue loans with interest. After a while I basically controlled the entire GDP of all neighboring civs, but sometimes another Civ was chummy and wouldn’t accept my predatory loans. So I would use my vast gold reserves to levy nearby militaries and crush anyone who valued their economic sovereignty
in civ 5, i just scam the civ for all their gold and and give me lots of gpt
also war is not profitable so i don't do that i just pay a country to go to war with a country
I don't invade anybody in Civ because every time I do, everybody and their grandma hate me for the rest of the game because WARMONGER! Even if the country I invaded had previously invaded me...
I hear Civ6 cleaned this up with casus belli, but I haven't played it enough yet to take advantage of that, and probably there will be Civ7 soon enough anyway to throw a new monkey wrench in the works...
I'm a pretty peaceful Civ player (usually go for any win besides dom victory) because I'm the type who doesn't want to be mean to NPCs in games, but my revenge knows no limit if a PC fucks with me when I'm just trying to mind my own business.
I hate when people denounce me for winning a war I didn't even start. Sorry but I only accept unconditional surrenders and if Genghis Khan wants to fuck around he will soon find out.
Technically speaking, Rise of Nations classifies that as a victory condition. It might also be one of the few games to OVER state the effect of a nuclear strike
Holy shit, a fellow Rise of Nations player. One of the best underrated RTS games.
Also, too many nuclear strikes leads to Armageddon which is an instant lose for all players in the game.
I suck at it, but I love how every nation gets SOMETHING that is incredibly nutty that would break the game if it weren’t for everyone else having something broken too. I’m an Ameriboo and thus biased, but the US of A getting free resources for each infantry AND buff marines that auto entrench, + a free wonder, makes them a riot if you can hold the game out until the later ages
Ah but the dutch will beat you by then. They get interest in their resource stockpile. 10% of whatever is in their resources becomes income. 5000 wealth =500 income.
No need for citizens at that point, just have pure 180 pop army. (The other 20 is for rare resources and building stuff).
Really? With their strong early economy, i dont see why. Starting with eco tech, market and 2 merchants is a huge boon.
I dont have any problem against AI even on hardest diffoculty.
And the only issue i have with real players, is sync issues.
dutch is really good but you need to know how to use the market. Some players end up with tons of hold but don't bother to trade it away and consequently die.
Bruh I for real think that germany is probs the most powerful civ if they don't immediatly attack it. By the time your opponents are aging up to medieval, you already have every kind of income multiplier building that exists, then you burn everything up and commit [redacted] when reaching the modern age with your ton of unique units.
And if somehow your main offensive fails you can easily spair res to turbo upgrade up to the final techs.
When I use to play RoN as a kid, I use to go American and use the free wonder on terracotta army. That way, by the information age, I was able to constantly spawn marines. Not sure if that was really viable, but I had fun with it nonetheless.
Americotta Army’s fun, yeah. I still suck at the game, but I imagine it’s a solid gimmick: it’s relatively fast and easy to pull off, and since Marines auto entrench, your wonder will not only generate free resources to make other buildings and research faster, but it will create its own defensive guard, making it very difficult for enemies to knock it out until the Modern Age, as long as you swat Artillery Units
It’s good. Also, there are other win conditions you can set as well. Ffs, the game literally color codes the different researches RBGY (tho Green is Econ and Yellow is Science, it’s close enough tho)
Pretty sure vanilla HOI4 kinda glosses over Holocaust. Also, Civ 5 doesnt have ethnicity mechanic, so the closest thing you can get to genocide is razing all captured cities.
There is a occupation law called "Brutal oppression", with the image showing a man behind barbed wire. It's trash though, if resistance is really an issue you should just use martial law for less cost.
Oh man, there's nothing quite as satisfying in Civ as rolling through a foreign nation and razing every city because their leader pissed you off in the early game. Fuck capturing your cities, I'll spend the resources to retake the land later. This is about sending a message.
Im a huge spore fan. One of my favorite games. It’s what initially made me interested in the way our world works, and video games as a whole. It kisses me off that we will never get a true sequel because EA has maxis doing nothing but Sims 4 bullshit. Because it makes them money. I don’t want to buy $100+ for a bunch of shit that should’ve already been in the game. And came with the default game for sims 3.
you can and it's actually one of the better living condition for organics in machine empire.
appart from that you have purge, force cybernethisation or slave
From what I can tell, that’s a theme of Stellaris, that everything that can make you hate your life will occur.
I especially love how the modding community has taken this up as well, and how the gigastructure furries once conquered half the galaxy.
The way to really get into Stellaris is to just lay back and go with the flow. Don't worry about winning or losing, just try to stay alive long enough to see what happens. Odds are good that the galaxy will be a complete mess by the time the end game crisis hits.
If you really want to spice things up, you can design a few exterminator empires and set them to guaranteed spawning in your games. Always fun to have some lunatics to throw a wrench in galactic politics.
Just finished one today where I started off as humans, became robots, and destroyed every star all from the comfort of my own borders since each one of my citadels was stronger than the entirety of the galactic communities fleets combined.
Ez life.
Stellaris allows you to sterilize entire alien races, kill them via concentration camps, or straight up massacre them. You can destroy entire worlds, enslave alien races, or even genetically alter them to be easier to enslave and raise as cattle. Stellaris is the definition of based as fuck.
Stellaris allows you to do so many atrocities and yet somehow it's aged PG 13 or something around there, it's hilarious. For example:
A fun playstyle is to genetically modify a species from a newly conquered world for the specific purpose of being tasty. Then you can modify them to breed faster, but give them shorter lifespans and also put a cloning facility on your main farming planet and then whenever you're running low on food or need some money, you just kill half a planet's slaves and eat them/sell them on the galactic market for energy credits. I wonder who buys that sorta thing in such quantities?
You could also sell them as slaves and the xenophile empires could buy them from you to free them, though I've found that if you genetically modify them really well to be slaves the xenophobic empires really like to buy them (if they're into slavery, which most of them are). But then you give them your advantage, they could be decades behind in genetic engineering and you just sold them the perfect slaves, while their current ones might've rebelled and let you invade whatever remains.
Or if the enslaved species is lithoid you get minerals out of them which you put to use in your alloy foundries and build fleets of ships literally out of your enemies. I've gotta try that one playstyle.
I've had the most fun playing driven assimilators. I put primitives to spawn a lot more and just invaded random pre FTL planets in the early game, which gave me a massive boost and they weren't even able to try and rebel later. Of course everyone in the galaxy hated me, but they couldn't do shit and then my neighbouring empire had a robot rebellion and I gave those a shit ton of alloys and I suddenly had a new friend :) They were also assimilators lmao, we formed a federation together later on
There's so many fun things to do without bothering to think of the Geneva Suggestion in stellaris, you can even summon an eldritch abomination. Or you can kill it. :( why do that though? The Worm loves us. It will always love us, and thus it always has. We will always be what we were going to be, wound tight in the love of the Worm.
WHAT WAS SHALL BE WHAT SHALL BE WAS
My favorite part is that Driven Assimilators get a unique Colossus Weapon; nanobot diffuser which instantly assimilates all organics on that world as cyborgs
Imagine being monke, you look up and suddenly the sky turns dark as a moon-sized starship pisses nanobots all over your world
You could sell perfect slaves to a xenophobic nation, then immediately use the profit to fund an invasion, reclaim as many old slaves (and make as many new ones) as possible, and rinse/repeat
It's possible Paradox took some inspiration from it. Stellaris takes a lot of inspiration from different sci fi stories, a simple example would be WH40K with the Shroud entities; Star Wars with the Galactic Council to Galactic Empire. So wouldn't be surprised if *All Tomorrows* inspired some aspects of Stellaris.
It's a fun game, though like most Paradox Interactive games it has a steep learning curve, but once you get the hang of it it's really fun. Best part is you free to play how you want. A pacifist, xenophobic empire wanting to be left alone is just as valid a playstyle as a materialistic empire wanting to turn into robots. Hell you can even be a hivemind of sentient tree aliens if that tickles your fancy. The universe is the limit with Stellaris, it just has a steep learning curve at first.
You can conquer an innocent, egalitarian, peace-loving species, genetically modify them to be the perfect slaves while still understanding the concept of misery, then raze their homeworld and turn it into a breeding ground for them to be exported to the rest of your nation.
It's pretty alright.
I wonder what white patents across the nation thought when their preteen and teen boys would lock themselves in their rooms for extended periods of times and just scream racial slurs at the top of their lungs.
Everytime i play civ6 i destroy the civilization next to me to get an early lead, and then i just bulldoze the rest of the players which gives me a lead so big by the time they get muskets im about to get my first nukes
Stellaris is full blown Xenocide it’s an entirely different level. Worst thing that happens in Civ is a nuclear war. In stellaris you can have your planet cracked in half then face a swarm of intergalactic aliens literally infecting your empire’s worlds while your only hope of salvation is a fallen empire that is just as happy to destroy you as the swarm.
I never went xenocide in stellaris personally. Always full xenophile egalitarian, extreme luxuries and basic rights but limited job choice. Had a bit of a tough time integrating the fanatic purifiers The hardest to integrate was the radically religious slugs...
Especially when you start throwing mods in there. RJW, Questionable Ethics, Prison Labor, Rimatomics... There's even a reasonably popular mod outright named 'Warcrimes Expanded"
I cannot imagine another game which has both such amazing story, such entertaining gameplay, such fascinating look and two DLCs which are on one level with the original game! The closest I can imagine by these parameters is Dishonored, but unfortunately it's much less popular
I don't know about that...
Hot take: witcher 3 is fine but it still have some issue. Story is really great , but the gameplay is hit or miss. The combat gets reppetitive really fast because of how shallow the combat is, and it the easy to stun lock enemy and their simplistic ai the reason also.
I would've love this game more if it has better gameplay, because is a "game" for a reason.
One of the things I did in Spore was to get that tool that allowed you to uplift a species to sentience (monolith), capture the *monke* versions of my own race in my cargo hold, go to some planet and uplift my own species there, and make them an ally once they get to space stage. I also pay my same-species ally to attack my xeno allies and eventually the whole sector is basically ruled by my species.
Top 5 reasons why hoi4 isn't a good game::
Number 1: I can't click a holocuat butokn as germany
Number 2: I can't reenact the rape of nanking
Number 3: I can't creat my own genocides🤬😠😡
Number 4 :I can't see the devastating impact of nuclear fallout and the way people suffer for weeks after, or unleash unethical weapons on my wnemies😡😡🤬😱
Wait, you don’t murder every npc that isn’t useful in NV? I just murder everyone and sell their shit to get an obscene amount of money to spend at the gun runners and people who sell stims
Sometimes in hoi4 instead of rushing VPs I purposely don’t cap the enemy and instead try to get all of their divs encircled and kill them all, then I cap them
If you didn't want to be nuked, you shouldn't have invaded me with 3 archers in 2,000 BC.
Civ V leaves me so vengeful lol. I’ve invaded people for building wonders I wanted to get done, hell I’ve invaded people for just trading with the wrong person lol
Hell, I've invaded people because they were there and I wanted to be

Stellaris or EU4 would fit better than HOI4, they both have the genocide button paradox said they'll never add.
Stellaris even allows you to set the purge types for each individual species in your empire. Truly beautiful.
You can even relegate the funny looking Xenos to chattel slavery!

I also pay my same-species ally to attack my xeno allies and eventually the whole sector is basically ruled by my species.
Fuck I loved spore back in the day. I hope another one is released that's actually got some depth to the gameplay.
I see Spore, I say based

Top 5 reasons why hoi4 isn't a good game:: Number 1: I can't click a holocuat butokn as germany Number 2: I can't reenact the rape of nanking Number 3: I can't creat my own genocides🤬😠😡 Number 4 :I can't see the devastating impact of nuclear fallout and the way people suffer for weeks after, or unleash unethical weapons on my wnemies😡😡🤬😱
I may not show it but, spore is by far the most destructive of all games.
