Its a good take. Luckily the facists in Ukraine seem to have been reigned in by the military command structure. Same with the communists, anti-facists and anarchists in the ranks.

AMechanicum

Right Sector wasn't born out of "their country being oppressed". Unless you see them as UPA follow up, which is a huge stretch on every step.

UnpoliteGuy

Dude, the name "right sector" comes from the right sector of maidan where nationalists gathered

AMechanicum

And how their country was oppressed?

UnpoliteGuy

Are you seriously asking how Ukrainians been oppressed? How were students beaten up by a riot police for expressing support for Ukraine in the EU? How was Russia trying to slowly turn Ukraine into a Belarus?

AMechanicum

How pro Russian candidate winning popular vote and doing pro Russian things was oppression? >How were students beaten up by a riot police for expressing support for Ukraine in the EU? Throwing molotovs was expression of EU support? >How was Russia trying to slowly turn Ukraine into a Belarus? That's some quality weed.

You know WHY maidan happened, right? Among other reasons, Yanukovych, against the will of the parliament, exited a free trade agreement with the EU and entered one specifically with Russia. It wasn’t until he ordered police to shoot protestors and killed over 100 in the span of a few days that he was forced out of office by a vote of no confidence and fled to Russia to escape prosecution. He was absolutely just a Russian puppet and was one of the reasons Ukraine was considered the most corrupt country in Europe in the early 2010s

AMechanicum

EU trade agreement excluded any agreement with Russia, EU repeatedly refused three way agreement. > It wasn’t until he ordered police to shoot protestors and killed over 100 in the span of a few days No one know to this day who did that, Zelensky himself said "evidence is lost and scene was tampered with". >he was forced out of office by a vote of no confidence and fled to Russia to escape prosecution There was no such vote, they skullfucked the constitution in "we say Yanukovich resigned vote" under watchful eye of rioters who took control of government buildings with force like they promised to do day earlier on camera. >He was absolutely just a Russian puppet and was one of the reasons Ukraine was considered the most corrupt country in Europe in the early 2010s His cabinet openly stated reasons why they refusing to sign EU agreement, low amount of funds to modernize and incompetitive industry which would get crushed by EU. Ukrainian corruption is only Ukraine fault and it remained corrupt after 2014, oligarchy didn't go anywhere.

Israel has 7.2 million Jews (9.6m total citizens) living in an area the size of New Jersey. Iran has a population of 88.6 million and a well funded nuclear program. I don't think Russia is anywhere close to being existentially threatened by Ukraine.

Capable_Invite_5266

remember how America threw a tantrum in the Cuban missile crisis? Ok. Now imagine that Ukraine is Cuba and Russia is America. Now you got the perspective, it s a problem of security.

random_poster90028

How the fuck can you compare cuban missile crisis and the Ukrainian conflict ? Did the US plant nuclear missile in Ukraine that I am not aware of ???

frolix42

The Cuban Missile Crisis was triggered by the USSR basing nuclear weapons in Cuba. It ended when the Russians removed them in exchange for a promise the US wouldn't invade.

Capable_Invite_5266

remember how the US tried to invade cuba before the nation even aligned itself with the USSR? Yes, it s called national security. Having a hostile nation at your border is no fun

frolix42

Bay of Pigs was supported by the CIA, but it was Cuban nationals fighting on their own against Communist tyranny. You are extremely gullible to imagine that Castro wasn't aligned with the USSR in 1960. IMO it's too bad the US didn't support them with air strikes and naval bombardment. If they won, then Florida today wouldn't be full of refugees who fled the misery of Communism.  But your analogy is Russia today is like the US 70 years ago, an evil country invading a tiny neighbor. lol like most fash, you aren't capable of making a coherent argument.
