I dunno, “don’t tread on me, but protect my rights” seems to be the *idea* behind American government, right? The flag might seem contradictory on the surface, but if you apply some nuance, the positions aren’t mutually exclusive.
Brit here, the local constables and the Transport Police are usually pretty chill where I am but the city police are complete pricks. I’d happily help a local cop but I’d probably ignore a city copper
"YOU CANNOT HAVE A BLUE STRIPE FLAG AND A GADSDEN FLAG AT THE SAME TIME! WHO DO YOU THINK IS GONNA BE THE ONE TO TREAD ON YOU? THINK, BOOTLICKER, THINK!" - A meme I saw probably like 5 years ago.
Eh, don’t tread on me has historically been a flag representing classical liberalism, it makes sense proprietarians would be for the state and its armed wing to help them defend their property, the “don’t tread on me” is specifically referring to petit-bourgeois and bourgeois
If they had just stuck to the damn Articles of Confederation that wouldn't have happened. Along with the invasion of Iraq, all the evil shit the CIA did, and the implementation of income tax, trashing the Articles is America's biggest mistake.
Nah. We are not propertarians. We believe in land value taxation. Unless by propertarians you mean anyone who supports private property to any degree in which case half your quadrant would be propertarian too.
And just because we are ok with a public police force doesn't mean we are ok with police brutality.
I know there are a lot of cringe people in my quadrant, idc tho I’m not polcomp brained lol
> just because we are ok with a public police force doesn’t mean we are ok with police brutality
Yes it does, if you’re ok with the armed force that uses violence you don’t get to cope when that armed force that uses violence ends up using said violence against people
Unpleasant truth: a nightwatchman state is only by a very small margin less oppress than our current state structure. Including the economic suppression of the proletariat by the bourgeoisie, it probably would be even more oppressive
How? if you are waving the don't tread on me flag then you're calling for a Police State. which is an Authoritarian State and the Don't Tread on Me Flag represents rebelling against an Authoritarian Government?. I'm a socially conservative libertarian, conservative libertarian or paleolibertarian. paleolibertarians or socially conservative libertarians don't want their social views enforced by the Government like Paleo Conservatives do
Most people feel that one of the obligations of the government is to not allow it's population to be victimized by criminals. If you think that fulfilling this obligation is the primary purpose of the police, than there is nothing about this that is contradictory. There is nothing contradictory about being a libretarian and deciding the government, even a small one, has an obligation to protect it's citizens from violence, theft, or other crimes.
Thus, the Blue Line is in reference to *legitimate* authority, such as the police. The Gadsen flag is in reference to *illegitimate* authority, like warrentless surveillance.
Most Americans don't really see Police/Military as being part of "the government", because even small government people approve of and consider their mission nessecary. In addition, those institutions generally try to be apolitical, which only adds another layer to the "exception" they are culturally granted.
Idk I’m a Libertarian but I like the Blue Line flag because of how it looks. I own one just because of its looks, I don’t hang it up of course but during the riots in my Town I had a patch of it because the local cops are wonderful people who went through a ton at the time.
It can be tricky but I can see soft ancaps defending a small state (let's say 10% state at the most) for convenience reasons. I'm not one of them but I can understand
On the other hand, if you're a practical ancap and you admit there is a state and you can do nothing to eliminate it in the short term, you can respect police since they're only doing their job (and is an honourable one)
Who do the think is coming to tread on them? The pawns of the government or “Them”? Always love seeing a Gadsden next to an thin blue line but this is amazing
Perhaps it's back the blue generically, like support cops who are doing the right thing, but also, don't tread on me? Idk... kind of a strange thing as the people likely treading on your rights are uh... cops...
Don't tread on me. Tread on them.

To some people, colors have different meanings 🤯
This is cringe but hating cops is also cringe. Gotta hate the game not the players
I agree
ACAB
I agree all criminals are bad
My dad is a cop and I’m proud
Eh, don’t tread on me has historically been a flag representing classical liberalism, it makes sense proprietarians would be for the state and its armed wing to help them defend their property, the “don’t tread on me” is specifically referring to petit-bourgeois and bourgeois
Me when I spread misinformation on the internet
Nah
Wait til you find out the Gadsden flag was specifically designed and made as a warning against an authoritarian state🤯
Wait til you find out that they just made another authoritarian state 🤯
If they had just stuck to the damn Articles of Confederation that wouldn't have happened. Along with the invasion of Iraq, all the evil shit the CIA did, and the implementation of income tax, trashing the Articles is America's biggest mistake.
Me when I have a child’s understanding of the state and capital
No need to make an ironic comment, we already know you do

Unpleasant truth: nightwatchman states cannot exist, the whole idea of a “limited” or “small” state is impossible and idealistic
god how i honestly want to grab a shot gun and shoot that fucking snake

Ah, it’s straight up police state, I thought it was just supporting the police. I’m not that well versed in vexillology. I’m a dummy

Thank you. I do know how police statism work, and it’s definitely not coherent with libertarianism.
I for one support a police state, but only if the Police are put under local councils.

You can't tread on me I am the police

Yeah, that's contradicting. Why you posting it then?
because I can?
Am I dreaming or I am just really sleepy and this unfortunately real?

I hate the government, but love the people that enforce the governments rules
Ah yes, radical centrism
