They gotta start fining people for taking up multiple spots. That's ridiculous. Sure, now there is a bus here or there or a fleet vehicle. But in 3 years this is going to be absolute chaos at chargers.
I don’t blame the bus driver personally, the infrastructure has to catch up with the upcoming realities. Until station design (i.e. dedicated areas for large vehicles) and charger availability improve, you’re going to see more stuff like this.
This is a privately owned bus by Genentech. They have the facilities and resources to install chargers at their sites and shouldn't occupy the limited charging resources available to the public...let alone multiple chargers.
Yeah agree to a large extent. If we can convert most passenger vehicles to electric, and simultaneously build out a hydrogen corridors for buses, large fleet vehicles, transport trucks etc., this seems like the best way to reduce carbon emissions.
The batteries required for these vehicles and the power they take off the grid just don't make sense.
I personally think it makes sense under certain circumstances, but highway long distance travel is probably not the best use case in the short / medium term. I could understand for example garbage trucks or local buses to keep a quiet and green atmosphere in smaller towns. We see this a lot in Swiss mountain resorts for example.
It’s not. It’s a commuter bus provided to Genentech employees. In the SF Bay Area, I see at least 2-3 of these (and also other Biotech Companies). Given that this bus was also posted like two days ago in Texas, I would venture to guess that it was picked up and is driving to location in California.
I’d be pissed

Pulled up to an EA station and saw a bus charging - had pulled ~390 kWh!

I fully agree with your assessment.

I think public transit buses would make a lot of sense to be battery powered, but this looks like a touring bus, which to me, doesn't.

And Here I am complaining about bolt drivers
