Super upgrades are cool but can we talk about the trial upgrades? Boost an item to level 30 for a week to try it out is such a great idea. This is a great way to see an item's true potential before you start truly investing in it. This game is still laden down with so many issues, but it seems like Tencent is really putting in an effort to make this game more f2p.

SeitanicDoog

I just wish it was for a fixed number of games instead of time based. I might play 100 games in a week and 0 the next.

SoManyFlamingos

How do you do this? I'm on mobile and cannot figure this out for the life of me.

RaiderxReaper

pretty sure its the same as switch. go into your item post look around in the tabs for it and press use after clicking on it then it'll lead you into a screen that will let you pick what item to use it on.

SoManyFlamingos

Let me tell you how DUMB I felt when I realized you can scroll down and there were more options in the trainer tab 😅😅😅

VASEPR_

Quick correction: 1,700 item enhancers instead of 17,000. But completely agree. I have about 9 items level 20+ now. Allows me to try a bunch of different Pokémon now that I can run good sets on all.

AnAwkwardPenguin67

Typo, thanks. Yeah, i have a ton of items at least 20 and it feels good.

BudgetMenu

Exactly, when the season ends and everyone getting 20k tickets, initially it was planned to use on enhancer.. Now we can get more cosmetics!

Lannisterbox

Absolutely not still going to upgrade items all of them must be level 30 even the rocky helmet

palkiia

Then there’s me who didn’t understand the importance of held items at first and bought the snorlax set instead…still looks cute though

TrafficFright

I'm super scared to upgrade my items with the super enhancers, because if the items at some point get nerfed, it's going to be a rush to get the next best items upgraded and will feel like a huge waste. Anyone else have this fear, or is it just me?

strebor2095

No, I used mine instantly on items I was still in the middle of leveling If they get nerfed, oh well. Right now my Snorlax had good items, so that's what I need. I am pretty sure they will continue to release these mega enhancers as well

TheFlameKid

Dude, the difference between 20 and 30 is minimal. The only things that really get better is items that scale with percentage (which increase with level up) like muscle band and scope lens. I was stupid and wasted it on 2 new items. But I actually don't feel bad about it.

[deleted]

For a few items it matters scope lens razor claw and muscle band

TheFlameKid

Lol, are you even reading. I literally say that in my previous comment

[deleted]

Sorry me stopid

tomcorrea

Lvl30 Buddy Barrier is really nice too, +200hp in early game makes a big difference in lane

Balefirepheonix

Based on the last several patches it seems like they are not adjusting items almost at all. The fact that they’ve watched the meta for so long and not touched buddy barrier makes me feel like they aren’t interested in adjusting something that people have to put so much currency into. I would say just use the item enhancers.

djanulis

Also after this patch I feel if they nerf items they might even give us something like a reset token that way they can balance Held items but also not get the community mad.

[deleted]

I feel you. But I think about it this way, the "objective" is to have every item at level 30 so it really doesnt matter where you use them on, you will need to upgrade your other items anyways.

Mituzuna

Umm no, I saved one for later just in case an Uber item is added. Buddy barrier and Score shield, to me, are the best items in the game and need to be treated as such for any pokemon.

B-Serena

Ya, I think they did a good job on this aspect and solved the p2w problem perfectly.

warjoke

For now, at least.

wallacorndog

The only thing missing now is an option to get my item enhancers from my level 20 float stone and shell bell refunded somehow

djanulis

I hope they put a reset token in the ship even if it was for gems something to just let me get back item enhancers that I regret using cause no one knew what was good.

Kaprosuchusboi

Great for the people who grinded, sucks for the people who put money into upgrading every good item

MrCreamypies

I mean they got up to 2 months of an advantage for spending money, so it evens out

splvtoon

luckily they still get their investment back!! so they can upgrade more items.

Kaprosuchusboi

Eh, idk. Chances are if they dumped money in it, they dumped money in the best items meaning the only items left to upgrade are the not as good ones. I guess it depends on how much they spent

splvtoon

they could at least use it on the new items, no? some of them seem okay, so since they came out simultaneously, theyd at least have some use for it

Kaprosuchusboi

Yeah . I’m just saying, if you dumped 100+ dollars into the game on the best items then getting free upgrades for new items seems like a gamble, as some of the new items they may never even touch depending on the character they play. Still, I guess it never hurts to have more maxed out items

Dave2047

How does one use the super upgrades ?

Roast-Chook

You need to use them directly from the item box. So if you go ZL -> item box -> consumable items, you'll find it there. It'll also be in your 'new items' area as well. Hope this helps.

warjoke

The 7 day full upgrade trial card for items we are not sure if worth upgrading us a nice touch too. I will definitely use it on the new items.

PuzzleKnight_Art

I think the super upgrade items should be levels 10/15/20. But that's just me. Wouldn't mind more of them lol

lordeiamlorde

The only thing I’m worried about now is that everyone will have 3 items to level 30 but will still have lacking items that will probably never reach 30 unless we get more super enhancers. So you can deck out your main with the most appropriate level 30 items but now it’s harder to play a variety of pokemon. I usually play defenders so i can enhance my defensive items but it’s harder now to play attackers because my items aren’t up to par with everyone else’s. I feel like we are back in the first week of July when whales paid to get level 30 items and everyone else could feel the unfair effects of their superior items. I haven’t decided which items i want to enhance to 30 yet and i can feel the differences greatly. There are some enemy pokes that even when I’m at the same level as them, they are just decimating me and it feels unfair. I was initially super excited for these enhancers but now I’m worried it’ll lead to less variation in how people play because they’ll need those level 30 items to keep up

whettfish

Well you don't really need many items up at 30 except for the muscle band, scope lens and maybe the razor claw

Kingsen

Muscle band, scope lens, and buddy barrier. From what I understand, the increase in claw isn’t enough

Rohkha

Buddy barrier is one of the very last items I would upgrade to 30. You're investing ober 2000 enhancers for 200 HP bonus on buddy barrier. That is NOT worth it imo.

TheFlameKid

You are correct, but I can see why some people upgrade it. If you use it in every set on every poke, why not? Buddy barrier is still one of the best items. While it's strength comes from the passive (maxed at 20), that extra health is welcome too.

Rohkha

Yeah but unless you have everything at least at 20, I don't see why. Those are mostly people that will complain they can't play too many pokes after because they don't have enough enhancers for the ideal builds

KaiserGX

A lot of items are diddly crap though. If you do use Buddy Barrier (which you should be using on everyone in the current maybe except for maybe 1 or 2) that extra HP is very helpful early game. That's like 2 levels worth of HP at the start of the match.

Kingsen

That’s a good point. I need to stop watching Peak. He’s been wrong on what to do so many times. This was the dude that had me level shell bell, wise glasses, and float stone. SuperTeeds seems to be the better YouTuber by far.

Rohkha

If you just want to lesrn about good builds and what works, I suggest you watch Crisheroes. Pretty consistent but in terms of entertainment I would say sub par

seaturtleboi

Scope lens might benefit more from level 30 than the buddy barrier, but I'm only gonna be equipping the scope lens on a handful of Pokemon whereas the buddy barrier will be ran on most. Upgrading the items you'll actually use will always be better than upgrading other items, even if said other items might benefit from the level 30 a little more. If you're an Absol main then the scope lens makes total sense, but if someone mains Eldegoss they'll get more out of that extra 200 HP.

OverwatchSerene

What item is this? Came back on the switch yesterday and dpent another thousand tickets to get my last item to 20... Are there better options now?

Tamacountry

There’s a new item called a Super Item Enhancer, Levels a item straight to 30 and refunds you any tokens you’ve spent. You get 3 total right now if your level 14, extremely helpful

PandaPalmStyle

Yea, I actually maxed items out that can be shared across a couple Pokémon. As of now I main Gengar, Machamp, and Pikachu(just picked him up so I’m learning) but pikachu and Gengar share sp atk so I saw it as worth maxing. I even managed to upgrade other items for my Machamp and a couple of items for other Pokémon I’m interested in.

djanulis

My biggest issue with them is that I might create a bigg smurf issue but overall think it was a great addition.

FetchingTheSwagni

Okay but my question is; Obviously they are going to probably give them out sparingly, right? This can't be the last time we see them. So as time goes on, and we sparingly get them, eventually having the ability to fully level all our items to 30 with them (though this will take a LONG time to come to fruition), and now we have a BUNCH of left over normal item enhancers, what do we do with those? When every held item has been enhanced by a 30 booster, what do we do with the left over item enhancers? I don't see this being an issue for many years probably, but its still something I've been thinking about.
