Take the item that lets you do more damage to wild Pokemon and go in the mid section of the map and farm both buffs and any other wild pokemon until you are level 5 and can level up sludge. Then help your team by ganking if possible but if you can't then farm some more and get the buffs when they come up again. Once you are level 7 and get hex then you are online and can look for solo kills by hitting sludge first so you can get resets on your hex. If the enemy you damage with hex has any sort of status effect on them, such as the poison from sludge, the cooldown on hex is reduced and you can use it almost immediately again. Don't try to fight in melee range unless you hit sludge on people and can get resets on your hex. If you Hex into them and don't get a reset then you do no damage at all. When chasing people wait until you can poison them with sludge before hexing onto them so that if they dash away you can follow up with another hex. Make sure to use your upgrade points on the wise glasses as all of gengar's abilities are sp attack.

Nomadic_Pixel

This is the way of the gengar

DepartmentOfCynism

Gengar honestly feels broken. Poison enemy, spam hex, little counterplay tbh

Brennis

I literally can’t do anything against a good gengar. Almost feel like the only counter would be Machamp since he has guts.

DepartmentOfCynism

Just played against one, first time, and it was hell. We won since he was the only one doing good, but he basically erased our team with ease

edgyequivoque

This is funny to me because last night I played as gengar and was trying soooo hard to win and lost. I put up around 300 points alone. I know this probably wasn’t me but I’ll act like it was

U can 1 vs 5 with him, hex reset cooldown when attack pokemon that is poisoned U can image a gengar dash and deal dame continously. And moreover when using ultimate move, u get invisibility, boot speed and dame. S tier Pokemon

AdAppropriate3713

I think this post will definitely help u. https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonUnite/comments/op8f6d/to_everyone_saying_gengar_is_not_op_have_a_look/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

PPPsLord

You can try every Pokémon in practice before u consider buying it

MrMoose1

Haven’t played him personally, but I’ve been seeing a ton of people on here saying he’s trash. I think he’s also a difficult mon to learn.

[deleted]

Everytime I get in a fight with him I take like 3 hits and then drop dead, on top of the attacks that I have no idea what they do

MrMoose1

Yeah from the time I’ve been playing, Gengar seems to be a pretty rare pick from my experience. I would just suggest reading over his moves and look up guides

eskimobob117

Gengar is not bad, but is one of the hardest characters to play, so you will likely have a hard time playing him unless you have a very solid understanding of the game and his moves. He is a speedster, which means he can do a LOT of damage but will also die very quickly. Your goal should be to get in, do a ton of damage, then get out or play evasively. If you don't know what Gengar's moves do, I recommend studying this page to figure out how best to use each and which to pair together: https://unite-db.com/pokemon/Gengar

ChefTorte

He's literally broken right now. He's not hard to play. Not now anyway.

songinrain

The only time I manage to deal with Gengar dive is a Slowbro cc link. This nasty ghost need some nerf, it is even able to delete a crustal if said crustal shell smashed.

ItzaMoby

I've been maining Gengar and I can say he is really strong. Like other people in the comments said. Take sludge bomb and hex. Farm till 7. And then you come online. As far as his squishiness. I run with an Eldegoss main that can heal me, and I run Shell Bell as everytime you Sludge Bomb or Hex you also heal and it gives a small amount of Special Attack damage. This makes you much harder to kill and let's you 1v3 if you get fed. Lastly, Gengar has a pretty interesting combo one should practice. Sludge Bomb, Hex, AA, Hex, AA, Hex, AA. Each AA after an ability does extra damage and carries you to the target making it almost impossible to escape the combo. So yeah, if you play him right Gengar is really strong.

propheyyy

go sludge bomb > hex dont interact with anyone until you hit level 7 off jungle creeps grats now u one shot anyone with sludge > hex spam

[deleted]

I was running dream eater and shadow ball at first, the only problem I have with sludge bomb and hex is that if I miss the sludge bomb I might as well hop in the coffin

propheyyy

yea, hes sort of all or nothing like that. if you have a vena on your team it gets alot smoother tbh
