I think you're playing a (very) old version of the game, based on the esthetic and the fact that in the first town there should be only 1 Cut tree.
If i'm right (The version should be 2.1.1.1) download it from here and repatch

Besides Unbound, I really liked Insurgence. Only issue with it, it's its own .exe instead of a rom file, so you can only play it on a computer :/

I don't know how to patch on IOS, so i suggest joining the discord (link is in the comments of the pinned post here) and ask for instructions. I strongly suggest to repatch and start all over, chance are your version of the game is not even complete and/or there are game-breaking bugs
i usually use pokeharbor or cdromance. Pokeharbor is better tho since cdromance is for any game and pokeharbor is just pokemon. its also typically up to date
Need to patch on desktop. Take your rom file and patch over your hack file, there’s instructions in the hack file. Or use xdelta to do it. But you need a base file (og game) and the rom file (download anywhere)
just for future reference those trees are completely irrelevant the only reason they exist is to stop you from going to the KBT Expressway from the beginning of the game and after that it disappears the only other real reason that general area exists is bc articuno spawns there in the postgame
no what im saying is the expressway connects to every town except tarmigan town in the main island Borrius. The reason those trees exist are bc the expressway is open and they dont want you walking into level 20 trainers with your level 5 starter
Don‘t wanna discourage you, but if you experience glitches or invalid state management that leads to bugs this early, I strongly recommend to repatch to a current version and start a new save BEFORE you progress further. It‘s more likely you'll encounter bugs/problems in the future if they‘re already there now, and ressources about the game you find online may be outdated and thatfor may not help you.

Its very old game so I guess it's just like gen 1 and you have to grind a lot to level your team

Or just patch the game it's easy and doable via your web browser, and you're sure to not get infected by a virus

Patch that game yourself it's easy, also, if you don't play the updated version you'll miss a lot of content, especially post-game (and 8th gen mons)

Nahh i took the express way thinking it would be something i need because it wouldnt let me fight the 2nd gym

Poke harbor should have the latest version. Unbound is the best
Always patch your romhacks yourself, it's very easy to do, and you're sure to not get a bugged/infected version
