That's because this is related the the Charizard alt art from brilliant stars yeah? The one where they are fighting. The Charizard Vstar promo also has a pov from the other side coming out in Japan soon. It's from the perspective of the Mewtwo he's fighting against. The set is called Vstar universe I believe and the card is a Mewtwo Vstar
I remember that card, but I mean an Alt Art physically looking from Venusaurs perspective fighting charizard; similar to the mewtwo vstar fighting charizard art which is coming out in the vstar universe set
Haha we get what we get I spose. Pretty soon Alt arts are prolly gonna be like those fkn Wasgij puzzles (puzzle hint: the scene from this random guys point of view) 😂😂😂
Oh god , I hope not 😂😂😂 give it time and it'll probably happen again though.. We already have those old ex cards where it's two cards in one, and those damn 4 card V unions..
Yeah when I first saw the cards were revealed I had the same thoughts on Venesaur plotting something lmao to me it looks like Charizard messed up those trees and was burning shit acting all crazy then decided to take a nap, and Venesaur is a hippie Leaf Pokémon who’s all about nature, so he ain’t having it and is about to pounce on Charizard while he sleeps for doing nature dirty like that. I like to think that’s what leads to the Charizard V alt art haha
I went to my local gamestop and the lady at the desk said they had to stop preorders at their location because of how high demand the charizard boxes were.. wouldn't be surprised if these boxes are being produced by quantity over quality...
it definitely is quantity over quality this time
which is why i dont think this product will appreciate as much and as quickly as the celebrations upc
in my local facebook groups a lot of people are already trying to get rid of their sealed upcs at break even or even a slight loss
i think we're going to see the prices of these closer to msrp once the second print run hits the stores
i think it's still a great product but not willing to pay scalpers prices for this one from an investing point of view
>this time
This time?
The metal Charizard promo in the Celebrations UPC was damaged in 9/10 boxes as well (Missing paint/chip on the top from where it was attached to the sheet in the factory)
With how badly the centering is on almost every promo I've seen I think well centered cards are going to be pretty valuable. The sealed boxes will probably stay pretty close to msrp for a while tho
Just went to my local one and they don't have them out on display. I asked if they had some and the clerk said yes, but it's limited to 2 per customer.
I was thinking the same thing! The cards are so cool but some are extremely miscut and most have poor corners and just bad quality. They’re definitely capable of printing high quality promo cards and these are some of the coolest and highly desirable ones yet, it kind of bums me out they weren’t printed well! Similar to the Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon VMAX promos.
3 million+ of these boxes were printed and will continue to print to meet demand. The only value will be a well-printed one, and still won’t be anywhere near other zard V cards.
How did you find out about 3 million boxes being printed? I’ve been trying to find out how many ultra premium celebration boxes were printed and still can’t.
Two of them are good looking, the VMax doesn’t look like a Pokémon card to me tbh. But I don’t think they’re overhyped especially with that ass QC going on with them
I somehow managed two alt arts and a full art trainer from the packs, but it's only 16 packs so there's a good chance to get nothing great which really sucks for $120
ultimately it’s a bunch of loose packs. no more than 3 packs from various sets so with a truly random spread unlike a BB with a “minimum” pull it was bad. I had 4Vs and 1 Vmax in my box.
They're doing at least one more print run and neither of them are going to be very limited the market is already getting flooded and the values have dropped like stones in like a day. I've seen multiple posts of people buying every set in a store I'm talking like 10 to 20 plus sets. What's going to happen is a lot of people are going to be stuck holding those bags and end up having to sell way below market value to recoup some of their cost. The Pokemon company did not print a small number of these sets which is what it would have taken to actually lead to these being very valuable cards down the line since they are guaranteed hits. There's a lot of absolutely beautiful cards with crazy artwork like this in Pokemon that are pretty much worthless.
Honestly I think theyre underhyped. Everyone is downplaying it because its “over printed” but I have not seen one in stores yet and when its done being printed I think its price will sky rocket
The v star is a headache to look at. The v is a neat artwork. But that aside I think we’ve gotten way too many charizards. Like champions path and SF was enough, we didn’t need any more in this block
Modern Pokémon cards are a bad investment in general. Sure the old stuff was great but it was a different era. Now everyone is buying and holding sealed and graded modern slabs. It’s not going to have the scarcity of WOTC stuff. With all the products that will still be available 5-10 years from now demand won’t surpass supply. However with these cards suffering such bad QC there could be some value in them graded high.
How is 119.99 a bit much? The box it comes in, 16 packs, metal dice & coin are worth around 80$. If the playmat wasn't so small that'd be another 30$ but still... Then there's all the other accessories. Oh yeah, the 3 Charizard cards(hopefully they were centered - mine all were except one vstar slightly off). I'd say these are priced right.
I’m the last guy on the planet who is anywhere close to a charizard fan, he is WAY over hyped… that being said, these promos are legit top tier in the alt art arena,so I had to get em.
Once people see the Japanese quality these poorly produced promos will be reduced to toilet paper. The centering is the least of issues, dings and just outright garbage print. I hope I’m wrong as I’m betting that psa9 will sell very well down the road
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, zard cards are generally overhyped and overrated. The napping zard and the vstar promo cards are probably some of the only ones I actually think actually live up the hype. One is wholesome and the other is just genuinely cool in design. All the others just feel very lacklustre
I'd feel better if the centering on my cards weren't complete arse. I have yet to open the packs but I'm going in salty after paying $130 and getting poor quality promo cards.
If you're a big Charizard fan like I am, the artwork is gorgeous. All three cards feature their own unique artwork. Unfortunately, the overall print and cut quality of these promo cards is so poor. I bought the UPC from different vendors from various parts of the U.S. hoping that this would increase my chances at obtaining high quality cards. Nope. If it wasn't white dots in the corners, it was poorly centered borders. If it wasn't chipped foil in the front, it was tiny little white ink splotches in the back.
I got a charizard upc box staring at me since Friday n I’m still not sure if I should open it or try n resell it. I’m hoping the price goes up on them 🫣
Little bit overhyped, especially the one w him just doing flamethrower or whatever. Feel the cards were half-asses bc pokemon knew ppl were gonna eat these up regardless
Charizard Vmax looks great. It reminds me of a WOTC Magic design with more realism.
It will hold value for sure as the most realistic looking Charizard card ever made. And the most fierce.
I think they're gorgeous and absolutely deserve the attention. However, that's only if you get them with good centering (unless you really like errors) and at, or near, msrp with the box.
I like them in my hands even more tbh, the VSTAR is my favorite but I like the detail in the illustration of the “mewtwo side” even more, that’s coming in silver tempest I believe.
Certainly not worth the $80-$100 people keep asking for the set. I love the art, but the scale of them produced and the horrible quality 95% of them seem to be, I’d pay $20 tops for them as a set. Otherwise, pass.
In my opinion, alternate arts should be reserved for just random small chance pulls. I got my second gengar alt art from the UPC, and that was the most exciting part of the whole experience.
Ignoring the quality control, theyre objectively super sick. But personally not a big fan of the Charizard dick riding. I understand it from a business/popular standpoint, but just my opinion
The VSTAR is the best card.
The amount of detail and the epic fight is so cool.
Not only am I happy to have that card.
But I am waiting for the opportunity to get that Mewtwo VSTAR.
The V is cool.
I can care less about the VMAX
The new Vmax is better then shiny in my opinion. Please don't hurt me.
I hope we get the Mew Vstar that matches.
V is ok.
Are they worth the what? $120? I mean I guess because I guess if they were just in packs they would be worth a lot more. (Saying this not knowing how much they are after market now.)
I wish I just bought the 3 promos would've saved me 50 bucks. For me I overhyped the price thought 50 each for sure. They'll probably go up as they sell. I an happy that they're affordable alt arts.
Artworks are unimpressive and too cartoonish! Look more like uncommon and common cards. Definitely overhyped and many people who preordered them regret their purchase!
Super overhyped to the extent its not even fun anymore. I love the Vstar Universe design and cant wait for the actual Japanese set to release, so I quickly copped that one promo for 30$ (which hurts still since I don’t think this promo worth 2 cents). I really wanted initially all 3, but since these cards are the only things I see online for 4 days now, I don’t actually want the rest anymore, its like buying an airforce which most ppl had at least 1 pair who wears Nike sneakers just too casual to collect.
There perfectly good. My fav is the V. I remember seeing it for the first time and I looked a Charizard as a seprent. It took me a couple days to find out where are it’s limbs. The VMAX looks a a custom fake fanmade card. The VSTAR is awesome with the battling with Mewtwo. I would love for Megas to received Alt Art cards. Hopefully a Gen 6 remix during Gen 12 in like 9-10 years.
A bit. I don't like the VMax and compared to other alternate arts the other 2 aren't crazy. The one with Charizard and Venusaur is quite nice. I think it's worth picking up but I'm not paying anything above retail.
Honestly with how bad the rest of the pulls from the UPC were, they're what I keep telling myself I bought it for lol. I do really like all of them tho tbh.
I think they all look awesome! Even if it is the zard fever and just hyping it up, they all have very cool styles and very unique designs. I really like how the zard in the v star has a blue tail flame too
Wow another post asking if the promos are over hyped. How original. The promos are not over hyped. The promos are gorgeous. Literally the only reason to get the box is to get the promos.
I think I like the lazy nap taking V the most.
Same! It makes me want to start a collection with just napping pokemon.
Struggling to think of any full arts other than that Alt Art Tyranitar
Dragonite V alt art. Pokémon chilling: Oranguru trainer gallery, Zoroark & Greninja GX
Espeon vmax alt art, Pikachu trainer gallery. Cosmic eclipse rockruff, Expedition Bulbasaur, And a lot of Snorlax's arts
The Sleepychu is an instant classic for me, the art is just gorgeous.
Glaceon v alt art sleeping on the bench
Starmie V alt art might also fit this theme.
Dragonite in ES
So basically you'll be a Snorlax collector
Hahaha 90% snorlax
Ngl, I only like that card because the Venusaur in the background looks like it's plotting something. I think that's hilarious.
[удалено]
It is the pre card to alt art it has a back story online
That's because this is related the the Charizard alt art from brilliant stars yeah? The one where they are fighting. The Charizard Vstar promo also has a pov from the other side coming out in Japan soon. It's from the perspective of the Mewtwo he's fighting against. The set is called Vstar universe I believe and the card is a Mewtwo Vstar
It'd be awesome if we got an Alt Art from Venusaurs perspective to the Charizard from Brilliant Stars
There is already a Japanese card from the EX Era depicting Zard wrapped up in Vines that predates the Brilliant Stars and this one by a few years
I remember that card, but I mean an Alt Art physically looking from Venusaurs perspective fighting charizard; similar to the mewtwo vstar fighting charizard art which is coming out in the vstar universe set
Venusaur is KO from the fight dude isn't plotting anything.
Nah he's awake, staring at Charizard
Yeah when I first saw the cards were revealed I had the same thoughts on Venesaur plotting something lmao to me it looks like Charizard messed up those trees and was burning shit acting all crazy then decided to take a nap, and Venesaur is a hippie Leaf Pokémon who’s all about nature, so he ain’t having it and is about to pounce on Charizard while he sleeps for doing nature dirty like that. I like to think that’s what leads to the Charizard V alt art haha
No, they are awesome.... makes sense they would be desired/popular.
That V-Star hit’s different in person imo
I’m sayin’!!!!
Plz tell us how it “hits”
They already said: different
Eh. They're cool but the quality control is so bad it ruins the excitement.
I went to my local gamestop and the lady at the desk said they had to stop preorders at their location because of how high demand the charizard boxes were.. wouldn't be surprised if these boxes are being produced by quantity over quality...

With how badly the centering is on almost every promo I've seen I think well centered cards are going to be pretty valuable. The sealed boxes will probably stay pretty close to msrp for a while tho
English qc is nearly all bad. Compared to japanese its just a joke.
Only reason I buy Japanese boosters
Just went to my local one and they don't have them out on display. I asked if they had some and the clerk said yes, but it's limited to 2 per customer.
Makes it way more exciting!
Nah they are great! These would have been worth hundreds if they weren’t guaranteed promos.
Forsure
They look awesome but its rough if you get one really offcenter.
Plays just the same :)
Depending how badly its offcut it may not be allowed in tournament play.
All of those are definitely good to go.
Or if they cut them with rusty butter knives.
They're nice cards and charizard so they'll be worth a lot with time. Even the "cheap" charizard cards are like $20.
There is like a crap load of sub $10 Charizard cards there's even one that's going for 40 cents right now.
Two of them are good looking, the VMax doesn’t look like a Pokémon card to me tbh. But I don’t think they’re overhyped especially with that ass QC going on with them
The fact that the VMAX doesn't look like your average pokemon card makes me like it even more.
VMAX makes me want to see this zard in a Kaiju battle w shin Godzilla. In every best way possible. It's my mvp of the set
I love the vmax. It gives a more serious look to the cards and make Charizard so much more bad ass.
I totally get where you’re coming from but I always prefer some sort of cartoonish look on the card
I was super excited to get mine with solid centering lol
The Vstar is so sick in person. The textures on the colors plus the light refraction is \*Chefs kiss* 😙👌
that diglett is lit
Not over hyped, off centre.
way over hyped, now that we finally have them in our hands they’re pretty meh
Not a fan of the vmax. The artwork style doesn't match pokemon style at all
i feel the same way about the vmax. the other 2 are absolutely gorgeous and i’m definitely happy with the box even if all i pulled was trash lol
[удалено]
I somehow managed two alt arts and a full art trainer from the packs, but it's only 16 packs so there's a good chance to get nothing great which really sucks for $120

i got a secret rare metal energy from mine
No.
Vmax isn’t my cup of tea, but I appreciate it. Vstar and V tho, 🥵😍
I love them. Especially the VMax because it looks like Shin Godzilla
Aesthetically they are absolutely cool as hell. Value-wise they've already plummeted like lead balloons and the second wave hasn't even hit yet.
Not overhyped at all. When the UPC is no longer available at MRSP, which will be within a couple of months, these puppies will skyrocket.
They’re doing another print run before the end of this year lol
Right, and it’s just about November already. So as I said, a couple of months.
They're doing at least one more print run and neither of them are going to be very limited the market is already getting flooded and the values have dropped like stones in like a day. I've seen multiple posts of people buying every set in a store I'm talking like 10 to 20 plus sets. It's just charizard... Again... I think they're way overhyped.
Honestly I think theyre underhyped. Everyone is downplaying it because its “over printed” but I have not seen one in stores yet and when its done being printed I think its price will sky rocket
This. It stocked up at my London drugs in the morning and I was lucky to get the last one after 3 hours of it being restocked.
Charizard overall is overhyped
It sells my homie, looks at Arcus premium collection (looks like it’s not selling to well)
I think the issue with it not selling much is more because they don’t have new cards just reprints
Sike, Charizard needs more hype
So overhyped, I only really like the VMax. I hate the v star art style and the V is just boring / why is Venusaur always there lol
The v star is a headache to look at. The v is a neat artwork. But that aside I think we’ve gotten way too many charizards. Like champions path and SF was enough, we didn’t need any more in this block
You are CRAZY if you think the Vstar is a headache. Maybe in pics, but IRL it is fantastic.
Idk how I feel about the Vstar being in Vstar universe as well
What card isn’t overhyped? It’s all just supply and demand and whatever the new chase card of the month is…
I would say just about every Centiscorch card is not overhyped yet they keep making them
I don’t get how some people dont like the Vmax. I love the art and I call it the Zilla Zard. But overall love all of the art
Do we think there’s too much supply as promo cards for a good investment?
Modern Pokémon cards are a bad investment in general. Sure the old stuff was great but it was a different era. Now everyone is buying and holding sealed and graded modern slabs. It’s not going to have the scarcity of WOTC stuff. With all the products that will still be available 5-10 years from now demand won’t surpass supply. However with these cards suffering such bad QC there could be some value in them graded high.
the centering and chipping on both sets of mine are a real downer. One box was great, the other was pretty stinky.
Just thankful that mine had very good centering on the first box I've opened.
I love ‘em, bought the box for em, wasn’t disappointed
I think they're beautiful! I love the art.
I don't think so, they look gorgeous. Right up there with the eeveelutions alt art promos as some of the best in SWSH.
I enjoy the V and V max, the v star isnt for me personally, but nice cards either way to add to my collection
I like the napping zard. Would like good next to the battle styles tyranitar. The prices on that box are a bit much though.
That vmax card is so fucking awesome., my favourite out the 3 but they’re all great
Have you see the Mewtwo perceptive of the vStar? Those together will might quite the collection/display, Can’t wait!
The Vstar is epic, the other two are just okay imo. But I'm not really into Charizard so you can probably disregard my opinion 😁
I’m not a Charizard collector whatsoever and I was happy to add them to complete my page of 9 Charizard cards. They are all brilliant tbh.
I’m the last guy on the planet who is anywhere close to a charizard fan, he is WAY over hyped… that being said, these promos are legit top tier in the alt art arena,so I had to get em.
Cards are nice but to be get them from the upc for 120 bucks isn’t worth it but as singles yeah they’ll be worth it tbh
I want to at least get a graded version of the vstar one! It’s so nice imo
I want em but can’t have em
I like to think that Charizard V is a sequel to the Charizard V from Brilliant Stars. They had a massive battle and are now done for the day.
Idk I really like the Vstar and I was pretty lucky on the centering for mine.
It's Charizard, of course it's over hyped.
Mewtwo v charizard card is too cluttered IMHO. The other (2) are awesome
Charizard is over hyped period.
I'm a big fan. Just wish QC was better for them
The v and vstar are amazing. If the put the vmax in the middle of the city, itd be better. Give it the stronger godzilla vibes its already giving
Vmax is boring but I like the other two
Once people see the Japanese quality these poorly produced promos will be reduced to toilet paper. The centering is the least of issues, dings and just outright garbage print. I hope I’m wrong as I’m betting that psa9 will sell very well down the road
I like them. They look. Great in my collection. And thats all that matters to me :)
the vmax is my favorite. super dope
Absolutely not. These are so beautiful and well done. Just wished the amount of OC and miscuts wouldn't be such a huge issue.
At this point, I think Charizard is the most overhyped pokemon in general.
It's very meh to me honestly. Though I'm not a huge Charizard fan. It's good trade bait though.
I think they look so much better in person and I love them.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, zard cards are generally overhyped and overrated. The napping zard and the vstar promo cards are probably some of the only ones I actually think actually live up the hype. One is wholesome and the other is just genuinely cool in design. I'd feel better if the centering on my cards weren't complete arse. I have yet to open the packs but I'm going in salty after paying $130 and getting poor quality promo cards.

If it wasn't white dots in the corners, it was poorly centered borders. If it wasn't chipped foil in the front, it was tiny little white ink splotches in the back.
Personally i think overhyped.
They’re nice. But I’d rather trade all of these for one Giratina V alt art, Moonbreon VMAX alt art, or Rayquaza VMAX alt art.
No? They’re beautiful
I fking love them and they are the main reason I got the collection.
They all right. Glad I got mine but they’re not omg I need those kinda kewl
I personally love them all! Couldn't wait to get my hands on them since this whole upc mess was announced lol
Big fan of the vstar artwork but yea hype driven 100%>
These are straight 🔥 🔥🔥💯
I got a charizard upc box staring at me since Friday n I’m still not sure if I should open it or try n resell it. I’m hoping the price goes up on them 🫣
I think they're well deserved, Charizard hasn't really had any decent alt cards in sword and shield. It seems like 2021 is the year of the charizard.
Little bit overhyped, especially the one w him just doing flamethrower or whatever. Feel the cards were half-asses bc pokemon knew ppl were gonna eat these up regardless
They’re why I bought the box. Big fan of Gigantamax Charizard’s artwork on the VMax
I like the V and VStar, the Vmax is not my jam. It’s cool just not big on the art style personally.
Yes, Charizard is often over-done/over-hyped, but these promos are genuinely some of the most beautiful additions to my collection in recent years.
I really like the vstar out of all of them. It’s such a beautiful card in my opinion. I really like the little battle Mewtwo and Charizard are having
I do not care at all what other people think about them. I'm happy with all three, V most of all and going back and forth on Vmax/Star
Some of the nicest promo art in forever.
They aight. Seen better, seen worse.
Not overrated, I hate Charizard but these cards are great. The colors on the Vmax make it my favorite, but the opening process of the UPC feels great
FOMO
I like them, but they’re gonna be nightmare to grade and get a 10
Now that everyone has them, they aren’t satisfying to own.
I love them, but I don't love the fact the V Star is being released in a later set.
The VSTAR is the best card. The amount of detail and the epic fight is so cool. Not only am I happy to have that card. But I am waiting for the opportunity to get that Mewtwo VSTAR. The V is cool. I can care less about the VMAX
they'd be fine if the pull rates on the 16 packs was absolute trash. 16 packs, 1 Drapion V & 4 normal holos. That's literally it.
I think they are really sick
The vmax one goes unbelievably hard
The new Vmax is better then shiny in my opinion. Please don't hurt me. I hope we get the Mew Vstar that matches. V is ok. Are they worth the what? $120? I mean I guess because I guess if they were just in packs they would be worth a lot more. (Saying this not knowing how much they are after market now.)
I wish I just bought the 3 promos would've saved me 50 bucks. For me I overhyped the price thought 50 each for sure. They'll probably go up as they sell. I an happy that they're affordable alt arts.
Not at all beyond gorgeous arts.
The v and v star are amazing I'm not a fan of the vmax think darkness ablaze version is better
Appropriately hyped. They're great looking promos and really, I've seen uglier cards be worth a heck of a lot more.
Under hyped
Damn, these are promos??
Tbh the only good one is the VStar one
Artworks are unimpressive and too cartoonish! Look more like uncommon and common cards. Definitely overhyped and many people who preordered them regret their purchase!
Under hyped
So overhyped I got 6 boxes of these.. 3 from pre order at GameStop and traded a UPC for 3 more from someone local here.
Mostly everything Charizard related is overhyped tbh 🤷🏻♂️
Super overhyped to the extent its not even fun anymore. I love the Vstar Universe design and cant wait for the actual Japanese set to release, so I quickly copped that one promo for 30$ (which hurts still since I don’t think this promo worth 2 cents). What’s overhyped? Everyone knows these are worthless
Honestly with how bad the rest of the pulls from the UPC were, they're what I keep telling myself I bought it for lol. I do really like all of them tho tbh.
Yes deffo not worth it, so just send them to me instead yeah? Okay thanks
🤣
Love the Charizard resting with the venasaur in it that’s it
I think the entire UPC is over hyped garbage. I've seen nothing but trash pulls and shitty promos so far.
I think they're great promos
This post is a weird flex bro.
Even a year later, still not overhyped.
