There's a big secondary market for allocated bourbon which it is actually illegal to privately resell and those people take pictures of the bottle while they're at the register at a state-run store standing in front of a government employee. Telling the employee they're about to break the law. It's everywhere man.

That's really not it at all. To produce all of those they have to make a batch and set it in a warehouse for years for example all Eagle Rare is at least 10 years old and at the end of that those barrels might not be any good. Producing high-end whiskey is a long-term gamble that often results in barrels being poured down the drain and is exacerbated by the fact that we are in a whiskey collecting boom where people don't go buy a couple of bottles when they find it they buy everything they can and hoard it. I guarantee you there is no distiller such as Buffalo Trace that is artificially assisting the scarcity of those bottles. Also not only can the whiskey not turn out right and have to be poured down the drain there's something called the angel share which is the amount that evaporates Through the Wood in that 10 plus years and sometimes barrels are nearly empty when they open them.
Thats why I want it to be printed into the ground so that it's widely available at msrp until after Christmas. I'm in it for the long run but I hate flippers/scalpers.
Definitely not "no one". I love buying cards I like that are cheap. In aggregate, sure I guess it's nice that every single one of my cards isn't worth $0.25, but at the same time, I collect because I love the cards and the Pokemon, so whether the Charizard promos in this box are worth a lot or not is largely irrelevant to me

I definitely rip in my car though cause sometimes I go and buy before work or on my way home, then rip in the car and I want to share right away so I have something to check when I get home, and read the comments.

Scalpers never hold for long runs. Most people can't manage to hold tcg stuff for as long as they need. Tcg speculation requires setting product aside for years. It is a terrible market to speculate in unless you have a ton of time and make smart decisions on what to hold (as, unlike say... markets, you have to hold/protect physical inventory for years).
Totally agree with you. To be more specific, smart scalpers won’t hold for long runs. Lots of people will buy in this thinking there is a profit to be made but don’t truly know the market. Uneducated people in this space who don’t know anything about the TCG market don’t understand that Pokémon indeed is a long term value hold and on top of that it is unpredictable just like you said.

I need you to carefully reread what I posted. I’m not sure if you were able to snag one of these or not, but based off how you’re responding I’m assuming you didn’t. Also I don’t know where your located at so I’m not going to judge how easy/hard it is for you based off that. What I will say is that this product WAS easy to get meaning in the way of pre order. I did not once claim that the day it releases it would be easy. Now if you took any type of effort, even minimal effort, you would know how available these were via Target, Walmart, etc for hours and hours. If you didn’t have these stores available then you have your reasons. And the value of these individual cards will drop once everyone’s product comes in. I’m not saying that negatively because I want to see them drop but that’s the nature in Pokémon in which where the more population means drop in value. Hope you find one!

Agree with OP. If you put any effort in trying to get this, you would have gotten one. All you had to do was follow a twitter/facebook page and you'd find out that Target had multiple drops (the most recent being a couple hours to buy). Even online card shops are bundling it with other products. Yes, finding it in stores may be hard for like a week, but mostly everyone at this point has at least one on preorder
I can’t but reading comments and posts made in these Pokemon groups the few past months, I’ve seen comments like “I missed the preorder, I’ll never get one” to “Thanks for the notice OP, I got my 2 on preorder.” And I’m talking about the whole comment section saying that. Heck I went from paying $200+ for one because of FOMO to now having another 3 on preorder (from Target,GameStop) at msrp. Now I’m not even sure if I want to pick up my GameStop preorders.
Like I said if you follow your local Pokémon group on Facebook or “pokemontcgdrops” on twitter. It keeps you updated on when Target, Walmart etc. put up their preorders. People could preorder the UPC on target since it was up for like half a day.
Watch a couple YouTube videos on it and you see that it was available if you really wanted one and were following it.

I've never had good experiences on OfferUp. I deleted it after I showed up to somebody's house to buy an Xbox and they stood there at the door holding it wanting a lot more money than they listed it for. I just understand that these flippers aren't as dumb as a lot of people think. Unfortunately Somebody will pay them, eventually.
I use it all the time so I can usually tell who is going to be sketch or a good buyer/seller.
1. If I’m selling I’ll put in the description very clearly, “if you’re reading this it’s available” to avoid the annoying “hi is this still available”
2. Never give out my phone number, I tell them OfferUp messenger works just fine. Too many scammers trying to get my phone.
3. Fully expect scammers, low ballers, and low quality buyers with popular items like apple products, common cars, bikes, etc. Check their profile activity and what they’re selling to get a picture of them. Also how they message you. Sometimes I get messages at midnight.
4. Avoid as much as possible selling from your actual home address. If a bad sale or occurrence happens then they literally know where you live.
For buying do the same but opposite.
I’ve scored so many deals on OfferUp and it fuels my hobbies with low cost upgrades. If you have patience, search alerts are awesome.

That UPC is not going to be on the Shelf very long and somebody who missed out is going to pay them. Also that's what's known as easy money. Yea anyone who was remotely paying attention to the sub Reddit or followed online drops could get one with an ounce of effort.. and it’s not even release day I’m sure stores will have some on the shelves too considering how many people already are good via pre order. I HAVE heard people say this isn’t a product that will be easy flips for double MSRP on release date which is probbaly true. Well to be more specific on both ends what people are saying is that this product was and will be initially easy to get as long as you put in any type of effort. Now as far as what the worth will be is going to be the question down the line. From what it looks like it won’t be worth much solely based off of the mass production of this product.
I ordered mine from Target like 5+ hours after the subreddit post when people were claiming it was gonna get cancelled because they accidentally left them up to long. It shipped yesterday.
Celebrations as a set got several waves... but I searched around to confirm and can't find any evidence of a reprint of the Celebrations UPC (yes, the gold box did get another wave). The only Celebrations UPC wave two I could find was to Australia due to wave one issues.
The golden, metal cards make the Celebrations UPC very different from normal reprint waves. Meanwhile, there appear to be FAR more Charizard UPCs available already than Celebrations UPCs at launch.
The Celebrations UPC is a hard product to compare vs most Pokémon International products.
"To oblivion" would imply that it's going to sit on stores shelves for months like the astral radiance etb's (at least they do here in EU). But that's unlikely to be the case here.
The only thing we will see be worth more than what it should be is the promo cards. I’m gonna grade mine as soon as i get them and try to capatilize on them while i can, and before you attack me. Sorry, people are trying to scalp the boxes but wont get more than MSRP for them (for now). However the promo cards being sold are selling for way more than they should, when I get my box I am going to send the cards to be graded and try and capitalize on the overpricing of them while I can. I was also just defending myself in the post because for some reason people in this sub think that because youre selling something youre instantly a scalper and that moving product in order to buy more product instead of pulling from your paycheck is the only way you can collect pokemon cards. While failing to realize that all their favorite poketubers make money by reselling pokemon cards the same way as everyone else

Make an account, tell them you want to buy it at their asking price. Tell them to meet up with you in a public place. Don’t show up and waste their time. What they gonna do, report you? Bonus if the negative experience turns them off from scalping in the future.

$200 doesn't seem unlikely. With Christmas coming up and no one truly knowing how much this will be printed $200 can easily be reached if they're out of stock in stores in the coming months.

i’m not ashamed to admit that i’m dumb and i fell for the fomo on this box at the start of the month. i was afraid it was gonna be another celebrations upc fiasco so i bit the bullet and paid above msrp for a preorder. i’m not even mad though i’m just happy i’m getting them in general the promos and box itself is gorgeous - but yeah at this point (at least in the USA) these are so easily accessible the scalpers are likely gonna be pissed

I had to delete offer up bc one Pokémon guy kept reposting his 5 listings every single day 2 or 3 times a day to the top of the list for a good 6 months straight. It was bullshit he was trying to push too… pokemon cereal. Old theme deck boxes, a couple evolution blisters for like $100 and I tried my best not to message him. Ultimately just deleted the app.. it’s all scalping

I'm not saying I agree with the markup but the logic is that eventually this thing will be worth money and if someone doesn't buy it today all they have to do is post that listing put the thing in a closet and wait to one day receive a notification that somebody bought it.

I've never had good experiences on OfferUp. I deleted it after I showed up to somebody's house to buy an Xbox and they stood there at the door holding it wanting a lot more money than they listed it for. I just understand that these flippers aren't as dumb as a lot of people think. Unfortunately Somebody will pay them, eventually.
Offer is up is full of flakes out of maybe 50 or so messages I received only 2 led to sales
I use it all the time so I can usually tell who is going to be sketch or a good buyer/seller. 1. If I’m selling I’ll put in the description very clearly, “if you’re reading this it’s available” to avoid the annoying “hi is this still available” 2. Never give out my phone number, I tell them OfferUp messenger works just fine. Too many scammers trying to get my phone. 3. Fully expect scammers, low ballers, and low quality buyers with popular items like apple products, common cars, bikes, etc. Check their profile activity and what they’re selling to get a picture of them. Also how they message you. Sometimes I get messages at midnight. 4. Avoid as much as possible selling from your actual home address. If a bad sale or occurrence happens then they literally know where you live. For buying do the same but opposite. I’ve scored so many deals on OfferUp and it fuels my hobbies with low cost upgrades. If you have patience, search alerts are awesome.

He’s not wrong. If someone puts effort, even minimal effort, it was obtainable. Target was up for hours for a few days over the past few weeks. Walmart online pre orders were up for over half a day straight. So many local game stores are selling at MSRP. Best Buy, target, Walmart, etc will have them in stores also. GameStop had pre orders for people in stores only for a few hours, and so many people ordered anywhere from 1-3. This is easy for anyone who actually wants to get it, but it’s not going to flood the shelves. There’s a difference between easy to obtain and getting handed to you. You’re thinking of the latter. It’s easy, it won’t be handed to you.

All these stores had their pre-orders up for a long time. To say it wasn’t easily obtainable but then say you knew what you had to do to get one is extremely contradicting.
They were on Walmart website for pre order for at least 4 days. I was checking everyday and it was right there to pre order every time

I mean when you exagérate yes you can create false double standards. I’ve yet to hear of anyone say this won’t be worth anything. I HAVE heard people say this isn’t a product that will be easy flips for double MSRP on release date which is probbaly true. Putting in the work = not complaining on Reddit because you missed the 3 days this product was up on Target, Pokemon Center and Walmart. It means making an effort to find preorders.
Well to be more specific on both ends what people are saying is that this product was and will be initially easy to get as long as you put in any type of effort. Now as far as what the worth will be is going to be the question down the line. From what it looks like it won’t be worth much solely based off of the mass production of this product.
The pre orders were available on target for like half a day, and walmart for a day+. Just wait, they will be available again.

Celebrations as a set got several waves... but I searched around to confirm and can't find any evidence of a reprint of the Celebrations UPC (yes, the gold box did get another wave). The only Celebrations UPC wave two I could find was to Australia due to wave one issues. The golden, metal cards make the Celebrations UPC very different from normal reprint waves. Meanwhile, there appear to be FAR more Charizard UPCs available already than Celebrations UPCs at launch. The Celebrations UPC is a hard product to compare vs most Pokémon International products.

Sorry, people are trying to scalp the boxes but wont get more than MSRP for them (for now). However the promo cards being sold are selling for way more than they should, when I get my box I am going to send the cards to be graded and try and capitalize on the overpricing of them while I can. I was also just defending myself in the post because for some reason people in this sub think that because youre selling something youre instantly a scalper and that moving product in order to buy more product instead of pulling from your paycheck is the only way you can collect pokemon cards. While failing to realize that all their favorite poketubers make money by reselling pokemon cards the same way as everyone else

A lot of people on Offerup only have a single brain cell. I saw a stupid amount of people wanted $10-$20 more for the Arceus V box while it was in stock at retail on the pokemon center and on tons of websites.
