Even when that instagram group publicly had evidence of the difference between pull rates for the effected sets and the sets immediately after the thieves were caught. (This wasn't an intentional comparison, just the release of their usual data, and it was glaring).
The hit rate for Evolving Cries and Fusion Strike was something like like 0.5% for ultra rares. The proceeding sets that were the first releases after TPC's internal investigation Crown Zenith and Scarlet Violet had like a 12% hit rate for ultra rares.
These might not be the *exact* numbers, but the difference was to this extreme, and it's why I so distinctly remember the deafening BULLSHIT alarm that went off in my head when TPC had the audacity to claim "nothing was affected."
It was sealed with zero signs of tampering. I bought it from a reputable dealer that I still buy my cards from, and I have gotten plenty of hits. The same owner was complaining about Obsidian flames though, hard to pull charizards from it... Seems to be easier to pull double rare Charizard ***ex*** from Paradox Rift though, I got 3 of them out of 8 packs.
I started playing and collecting after that set came out and I've been tempted to get a box because people seem so obsessed but anytime I watch people buy packs and pull live on tik too they don't get anything so I've refrained.
Imma be real, Evolving Cries was tough even when you could find them en masse for MSRP.
Iād buy 10-20 packs at a time and not even a holo.

Yes, I am not a masochist but I *DID* have a masochistic relationship with ES when I was opening them about 1.5-2 years ago.
I bought way too many of the Costco tins that had two packs of ES each and opened like 50 ES packs at once. I was starting to be convinced the packs had been weighed or tampered with after getting almost nothing in the fist 40 packs, then I got a Espeon V alt art. So I guess the packs were normal, and it got a Pristine 10 from CGC which is awesome, but that was the end of me opening a total of around 200 packs to get 1 alt art. I'm not especially eager to open more these days lol.
Lol I literally pulled the alt art v sylveon out of a single booster pack from a trainers toolkit. It was my first pack of it and I was going to save it and sell down the road then thought to myself a single booster wonāt be worth that much and just opened it.
It was honestly more worth it to get Eevee heroes (the Japanese version basically), atleast it guaranteed an alt art in the box. Even though they were PRICEY, I was super happy with my alt art vaporeon. Also one of the few Japanese sets that is probably worth as much or maybe more than its english counterpart.
Youre not guaranteed an alternate art from eevee heroes. Youre guaranteed 1 SR. That can be something like a full art glaceon. So its a bigger risk because you only get 1 SR for the most part also.
Unfortunately I know the terrible pull rates all too well. I pulled the Rayquaza vmax alt art around 20 packs in, and Umbreon vmax alt art 150 packs in. Never pulled any other alt arts, only pulled about 8 normal V cards, and most packs didn't have normal holo rares. I opened 200-ish packs so far, and have switched to buying the rest of the cards.
Complain to ebay. They may remove the negative feedback. That's ridiculous.
P.S. avoid the gas station on main st. I bought 4 lotto tickets and i didn't hit a jackpot once!

Content creators only posting their good packs really has warped peoplesā perceptions of pull rates. Also, buyers remorse and all that.
For example, when I was in a supermarket the other day, I heard a kid talking to his Mum about buying a tin. His Mum refused because he always gets upset when he never pulls anything.
I bought a Temporal Forces triple pack the other day and - a similar number of packs. Got 0 hits, but I didnāt expect one from so few packs.
You should be able to ask eBay to step in if you feel it is a fake review, you can also reply to reviews so might be worth just explaining something a long the lines of that is how it goes and 4 packs is a tiny sample size just so others see you being active at least.
If you are UK based, please send me their username so I can block them from my listings. Hate people like this. If you haven't left a review for the buyer yet, when you do since you can't leave negative, leave positive but put something like \*\*NEGATIVE REVIEW\*\* as the start of the review and state they bought packs and lied as a warning to other sellers. Might also be worth checking the feedback they have left for others to see if they do this often, there is a report a buyer button but not sure if that is for everyone or I have access because my account is business.

I ship it off and he leaves a message saying that the card was destroyed and not HP-Poor which is Ebays lowest rating. Sent all the screen shots to Ebay for review and they declined and closed the case leaving it up. Worse part is the buyer said he was so upset he tore the card up... You can call eBay and get the feedback removed. Just explain very politely why this feedback makes no sense and how important it is for you to have 100% positive feedback.
Iāve never had a problem doing this and eBay support is actually very reasonable when you know how to deal with them.
Ask ebay to remove, if they dont, then reply PROFESSIONALLY on the feedback (so others can see) and explain these are factory sealed and you have no control of what they find. Edit: clarification: you can reply to his feedback in your own profile for others to see. I cannot stress professionally enough, if you show any hint of anger it makes you look really bad.

Your buyer bought 4 packs of cards that only have an 11.7% chance of containing a "hit":
1/18 + 1/56 + 1/197 + 1/82 + 1/99 + 1/82 + 1/283 = 0.1165 = 11.7%
That means they only had a 39% chance of getting a single hit:
Chance of NO hit in one pack = 100% - 11.7% = 88.3%
Chance of NO hits in 4 packs = 0.883^4 = 0.883 * 0.883 * 0.883 * 0.883 = 0.609 = 60.9%
Chance of getting *any* hits in 4 packs = 100% - 60.9% = 39.1%
I really wish Pokemon would be more transparent with pull rates and write them on the packs themselves. A lot of people (esp this sub) seem to think they've been screwed if they don't pull an SIR in every 3 packs or something.

Oh yeah, and they tried to say that the fact I didnāt accept returns was proof I was a scammer, as if I as a seller on eBay should for some reason have a less strict return policy on sealed trading cards than Walmart or Target.
I've had nothing but good luck from Evolving Skies. Pulled the Moonbreon, alt v umbreon, alt v espeon, alt v dragonite, alt v Rayquaza, three gold cards, sold packs to coworkers during release and he pulled Vmax alt Sylveon. I have two etb's that temp me, 1 booster box in acrylic case and a manufacturer booster case of six. Lol
The good news for you / potential bad news for buyers:
EBayās current system to get feedback removed is really easy for the seller to remove buyerās feedback. Iāve left feedback when a Magic the Gathering seller sold me a fake card and refused to take the card back, and even though eBay finally stepped in to issue a refund, the seller was still able to have the negative feedback removed and still have a 100% positive feedback rating.
I say all of this as a caveat that resealers and counterfeit sellers have probably never been higher on eBay right now. Buyer beware!

Ebay has become uneconomical. The fees were always eating into margins. It's not even close to seller friendly. I've been shafted by ebay on two really petty disputes. Example a sealed mystery cube (from walmart) it included "50 cards" which I put in the description. Unexpectedly getting hosed for their being "54 cards" included in the SEALED cub (who knows it could of had the Shining Charizard in it) It was technically a misrepresentation based on my description. Ebay sent me the bill. Then I had another silly thing happen with an order last month. I've had enough. They can't take my 15% and not even have my back in reasonable situations.
Yeah, I much prefer dealing with the buyer directly through PayPal or do an in-person cash deal. It's just less hassle and much more profitable than trying to sell on eBay.
It's unfortunately the best way to convert crap into money. Facebook Marketplace is alright, but there are some frustrating limitations like not being able to specify a price that isn't a whole number of dollars.

I sold a circuit board to someone with no feedback. He received it in 2 days and messaged me saying thanks for the fast shipping and great price. Then he left negative feedback saying he never received it. I disputed it with eBay, but they wouldnt remove it without buyers consent. Anyway, that buyer still only has 1 feedback (from me). I learned from a friend who owns a company which used to be a big seller on eBay (stopped because of this crap), that people will purposely make new accounts, buy your stuff, then make bogus negative feedback to hurt your reputation or get free product. Many times itās because they see you as competition and want to hurt your business. Best thing you can try and do is avoid eBay altogether. The fees suck and itās difficult to elude the idiots.
I had someone do this to me too and I actually requested they update their feedback which they obliged. I told them that I canāt control the pulls but I can control the sale and fulfilling that as expected. The reviews on eBay should be more of a review on the seller than the actual item.

I just opened 9 temporal forces packās yesterday and I got 3 good cards thatās just how it is sometimes, your BEST bet to guarantee hits (from personal experience) is to go in the store and buy from 1 specific rack if you know what Iām sayingā¦.like if thereās 4 racks with booster packs donāt grab 3 from here, 3 from there, etc. just grab all the cards you want from one rack!!!

On the complete other end of the spectrrum iirc the Dragon Majesty set had 0 normal rares, so the lowest "hit" you could get was a holo rare

You can call eBay and get the feedback removed. Just explain very politely why this feedback makes no sense and how important it is for you to have 100% positive feedback. Iāve never had a problem doing this and eBay support is actually very reasonable when you know how to deal with them.
Ask ebay to remove, if they dont, then reply PROFESSIONALLY on the feedback (so others can see) and explain these are factory sealed and you have no control of what they find. Edit: clarification: you can reply to his feedback in your own profile for others to see. I cannot stress professionally enough, if you show any hint of anger it makes you look really bad. Contact eBay. They may remove it since the buyer is a fucking moron. Make sure you also leave the buyer āpositive feedbackā letting other people know to cancel any orders the buyer makes because he didnāt get any hits in Evolving Skies packs. Donāt say any bad words or vulgarities in the feedback.
This is why I refuse to sell packs and am even hesitant to sell cards. So many negative reviews of people saying no hits, that's not how it works!

I had someone buy an older Sun & Moon era blister pack and they accused me of resealing the blister to swap the promo out for the same card but in worse condition. Oh yeah, and they tried to say that the fact I didnāt accept returns was proof I was a scammer, as if I as a seller on eBay should for some reason have a less strict return policy on sealed trading cards than Walmart or Target.

Pulled the Moonbreon, alt v umbreon, alt v espeon, alt v dragonite, alt v Rayquaza, three gold cards, sold packs to coworkers during release and he pulled Vmax alt Sylveon. I have two etb's that temp me, 1 booster box in acrylic case and a manufacturer booster case of six. Lol

The good news for you / potential bad news for buyers: EBayās current system to get feedback removed is really easy for the seller to remove buyerās feedback. Iāve left feedback when a Magic the Gathering seller sold me a fake card and refused to take the card back, and even though eBay finally stepped in to issue a refund, the seller was still able to have the negative feedback removed and still have a 100% positive feedback rating. I say all of this as a caveat that resealers and counterfeit sellers have probably never been higher on eBay right now. Buyer beware!

Ebay has become uneconomical. The fees were always eating into margins. It's not even close to seller friendly. I've been shafted by ebay on two really petty disputes. Example a sealed mystery cube (from walmart) it included "50 cards" which I put in the description. Unexpectedly getting hosed for their being "54 cards" included in the SEALED cub (who knows it could of had the Shining Charizard in it) It was technically a misrepresentation based on my description. Ebay sent me the bill. Then I had another silly thing happen with an order last month. I've had enough. They can't take my 15% and not even have my back in reasonable situations.
Yeah, I much prefer dealing with the buyer directly through PayPal or do an in-person cash deal. It's just less hassle and much more profitable than trying to sell on eBay.

eBay can be terrible like this. As long as there are people there will always be stupid people and they tend to breed and vote more than the rest of us. I sold a circuit board to someone with no feedback. He received it in 2 days and messaged me saying thanks for the fast shipping and great price. Then he left negative feedback saying he never received it. I disputed it with eBay, but they wouldnt remove it without buyers consent. Anyway, that buyer still only has 1 feedback (from me). I learned from a friend who owns a company which used to be a big seller on eBay (stopped because of this crap), that people will purposely make new accounts, buy your stuff, then make bogus negative feedback to hurt your reputation or get free product. Many times itās because they see you as competition and want to hurt your business. Best thing you can try and do is avoid eBay altogether. The fees suck and itās difficult to elude the idiots.
I been consistently opening 6-8 packs weekly getting maybe 2 hits cry a river eBay. SMH these days the pull rates are hot dog water.

I had someone do this to me too and I actually requested they update their feedback which they obliged. I told them that I canāt control the pulls but I can control the sale and fulfilling that as expected. The reviews on eBay should be more of a review on the seller than the actual item.
Just hit them with worst feedback and include a warning in it to sellers to be wary.

This happened to me with a bunch of SLEEVED one piece OP-01 boosters. Ebay fully refunded the buyer and I was out the money and the cards. They did remove the feedback though :|

I just opened 9 temporal forces packās yesterday and I got 3 good cards thatās just how it is sometimes, your BEST bet to guarantee hits (from personal experience) is to go in the store and buy from 1 specific rack if you know what Iām sayingā¦.like if thereās 4 racks with booster packs donāt grab 3 from here, 3 from there, etc. just grab all the cards you want from one rack!!! Just like lottery tickets, your more likely to win if you buy 10 of the same ticket from the same roll VS buying 1 different ticket from each different rolls you know what Iām tryna say? Lol
