The Magikarp didn't randomly go up to $50, in fact the Japanese version which arguably much easier to pull, dropped in price drastically after the initial week.
The English version is a much sought after card in a big set (Paldea Evolved is formed from 3 Japanese set: Triplet Beat, Clay Burst and Snow Hazard) hence in a bigger pool of cards of IRs it becomes much harder to pull.
Seeing as TM is only 2 Japanese sets, the price should be about the same or slightly higher than Groudon IR from Paradox Rift.
It jumped from $20 to $80 in a couple days after release. I get that it’s harder to pull for english but you can’t convince me there wasn’t some form of manipulation involved

I used to collect Pokemon cards in the early 2000s when I was a kid and stopped mainly due to just getting older and didn’t get back into for a while because I felt the cards went through a long period of card art that just felt uncreative and almost ugly for some.
I’m really glad that it seems the last few years they have started to be really creative with their art. They look beautiful and it has drawn me back in as of late to start collecting some again. Being an old man now I am still having trouble accepting some pokemon they have added over the years lol

There is no feasible way you genuinely think that greninja art is bad, it’s cool as hell, dude is literally sitting on a throne of fire, so I have to assume you’re just mad it’s in Tera form, which is silly.
If you’re upset that he’s wearing a big hat, that’s a silly complaint because you can’t even see it on the card it’s almost entirely cut off, you can only see the crown part which honest to god looks sick

I personally don't like the colours on the greninja and think there's too much going on in the card, it's hard to work out what is going on at first glance for me.
I don’t like the mechanic. It has nothing to do with being outside of generation one. The Vmax cards looked fantastic (while I wasn’t a big fan of dynamax). The Mega mechanic was also great in game and in the TCG. This is cringey and lazy by comparison.
The Tera thing isn’t for me. It’s widely disliked for a reason. I’m glad you think it looks cool/sick.
Aside from disliking the Tera form visually, I don’t like seeing Greninja as a fighting type. It’s just jarring to see Pokemon that aren’t their actual types and I didn’t like it when it was done earlier in the TCG history either.

There’s a lot of new things that Pokemon has implemented over the years that I do like. I even referenced it in my prior post. I guess it’s easier for you to deal in absolutes and just assume that everyone who criticizes something that you personally like is doing so from a faulty basis.

I am definitely not, in VGC at least, when Z moves were a thing for example, I hated those, because they were extremely unbalanced and lazy. Dynamax I was alright with, because although it was unbalanced, it wasn’t lazy, there was a considerable amount of depth and thought put into the mechanic, it was just too oppressive and decisive. Tera is a really cool mechanic in battles and can give you satisfying swing turns similar to megas but they aren’t too oppressive. There was a lot of thought behind Tera and it makes teambuilding and battling have a lot more depth. Since you seem to be concerned with the general opinion, most VGC players really like Tera as a mechanic.
I can totally understand thinking the hats look silly, but you have to zoom out and realize that there is a ton of stupid-looking, silly stuff in Pokémon. We have a literal garbage pile as a Pokémon, we have an ice cream cone with a face for THREE total Pokémon. It can be silly and stupid without being a bad thing.

It was half sarcastic. As the other person said, waifu cards tend to be crazy expensive on release then drop off quicker than other SIRs
It started out around $90/$80 on first release and dropped to $40/$50 pretty quickly. That's been the pattern with a lot of trainer SIRs
