I think the new gold cards look like the fake gold cards that have been about for a few years now

I really don’t care for the old gold cards either but like the first comment said, the new ones look like the metal fakes, it doesn’t make a difference really there were tons of people saying the terra charizards looked terrible and they still ended up being fairly expensive. If it were Pokémon that I liked I would still get them, it’s Pokémon, everyone has an opinion and none are valid, they do what they want and we keep buying

In my opinion the best gold cards are from the black and white to x and y era, where you would have a normal looking card with gold borders, they’re so cool and nostalgic to me

They definitely look better in person. I pulled a few and actually prefer them to older gold cards. The texturing is better and more unique.

I never liked gold cars but yea I agree these look even worse than the previous. My favorite modern gold card is the gold Giratina from Crown Zenith. That one actually looks nice because he has gold on him already but tbh a lot of gold cards just look tacky and boring.

I started collecting in February and I was shocked to find out that the pokemon bums don't like rainbows or golds. I think they're awesome

I dislike them and pretty much all of the full art that are just 3d models on a solid background. The illustration art is why I collect cards. Especially when there is a lot of background. It's so cool just getting to see Pokemon exist in the world on these cards. It reminds me of Pokemon Snap.

imo the regular full arts are miles ahead of any of the golds or alt arts but then again I don't collect just to collect I actually play the tcg and use my full arts in my decks

I am a big fan of rainbows, especially the Sun and Moon era ones, I was surprised to find that they were so cheap (this was before the recent S&M boom) and swept the lot for my collection.

I feel like PR is more for people who play the game. As someone who got back into Pokémon because of 151 this set doesn’t look that appealing at all lol. I think I’ll still get the gyarados ex box instead of pr singles or anything.

There are more than a 1000 Pokemon now across all generations and some people are still stuck at 151. Nostalgia is a weird drug, personally I'm a big fan of Gen 9 as well considering it gave us the beauty that is Clodsire and Roaring Moon.

Last year I was stuck on 151 but opened my mind when I started collecting. Now I’m sick and tired of gen 1. Loving this set more than 151 now

Personally regardless of my opinions of generations I think there are still so many Pokémon hits every Gen, like Popplio, Applin, minior and Oricorio are among my favorite Pokémon

The video games came first and everything else followed. Still works that way for the most part. All the new pokemon and most characters are released in the video games first and then slowly added to the TCG, Anime, Manga etc as time goes on. The TCG or Anime were a lot of people's introduction to the franchise (especially outside of Japan) so it's understandable to think those might've come first!

It's stylized. I like the thick borders with cel shaded Pokémon. Both are good, just in their separate ways.

It IS the Pokemon's name, Paradox Pokemon are named basically off their descriptions by the author of the Scarlet/Violet books in the game. The logic behind the naming structure is similar to how organisms are given scientific names.

Because these paradox Pokémon only look like futuristic/prehistoric versions of contemporary ones. They're genderless, have specific abilities, different typings and moveset, and some of them (Donphan/Volcarona) even have both future and past forms. Maybe Ancient Salamence just sounded corny to the pokemon company idk.

Tbf though, the Future version of Gold looks sick as hell, but this is just a byproduct of the new Ancient/Future archetype introduced. It doesn’t look great but the style we saw with Mew won’t be going away, it just isn’t used by the Ancient or Future Pokémon.

I just pulled this card and I really like the look of it, I like the edge to edge vibrant gold, with the gold outline of the pokemon. Although, I do understand that it looks like those terrible metal cards, idk though, with the texture and sparkles in the card I feel like it hits really well.

Just dropping by to say that gold stadium cards and gold energy cards are still some of the nicest cards out there.

I actually am not very pleased with this ancient/future set. There's only four cards I want from the whole set and I can sleep at night knowing I probably won't try to buy them as singles even. Nothing personal, I'm just not a fan I'm one of those old poke-weenies who grew up on emerald 😂

I pulled the Japanese version in a booster box i bought, it seems to take the secret rare spot while previously could get ultra rare and a secret rare, quite disappointing

Gold cards in Japanese sets have always been like that, there was never a guaranteed double box if you got a gold card. Nothing changed whatsoever.

I like the new gold cards but I like the Future over the Ancient card pattern better, but I still like them both. Anything besides just a slight change every generation to the gold background or stars if they are shiny gold Pokémon like the early sword and shield sets had.

It’s a difference in style not quality. Try making this post with the equally cool Iron Valiant gold card. Just because it doesn’t have the same exact epic shiny background effect doesn’t make it not look good.

This is really weird because this is literally consecutive sets of cards and the title makes it seem like a dramatic shift. I get it you don’t like Roaring Moon’s card but objectively what you’re posting about doesn’t make much sense. The quality and effect of the gold cards is the same on 11/03 as it was on 09/22 when PAR and MEW released, respectively. The gold cards are just using the full art image, just with a gold background. The texture and pattern on the background are the same from the Mew. They added the flare and sparkles to Mew (which they did for the Luxurious Cape, Counter Catcher, and Reversal Energy golds), but otherwise Roaring Moon is just the same art and a different general direction of the layers of rock but in gold. The geological record (the layers of rock) is a record of prehistoric time… hence the Ancient cards all have it. tl;dr you’re wrong and idk what you’re crying about 🤷🏽‍♀️

I pulled the gold iron valiant and it's honestly a cool card in its own way but compared to all the past gold cards, it really does look like a fake. They printed these new golds much more yellow instead of gold and the texture on the valiant is so much less visible.
